PHP - Open Html File, And Extract Html Content
Hi,
How do I open all HTML file contained in a folder, then search for the title of the page, and save the title in the database? Also, is it possible to do this using functions? Cheers. Similar TutorialsHi
I try to echo out random lines of a html file and want after submit password to whole content of the same html file. I have two Problems.
1st Problem When I echo out the random lines of the html file I don't get just the text but the code of the html file as well. I don't want that. I just want the text. How to do that?
for($x = 1;$x<=40;$x++) { $lines = file("$filename.html"); echo $lines[rand(0, count($lines)-1)]."<br>"; }I tried instead of "file("$filename.html");" "readfile("$filename.html");" But then I get the random lines plus the whole content. Is there anything else I can use instead of file so that I get the random lines of text without the html code?P.S file_get_contents doesn't work either have tried that one. 2nd Problem: As you could see in my first problem I have a file called $filename.html. After I submit the value of a password I want the whole content. But it is like the program did forget what $filename.html is. How can I make the program remember what $filename.html is? Or with other words how to get the whole content of the html file? My code: if($_POST['submitPasswordIT']){ if ($_POST['passIT']== $password ){ $my_file = file_get_contents("$filename.html"); echo $my_file; } else{ echo "You entered wrong password"; } }If the password isn't correct I get: You entered wrong password. If the password is correct I get nothing. I probably need to create a path to the file "$filename.html", but I don't know exactly how to do that. Hello, I am new to the forum and somewhat new to php, nice to meet you all. This is the first time I have ever really scripted with PHP so I'm still learning about all the tools I have and what I have to call things in PHP. I have a list of urls and as I loop through each one, I'd like to be able to get information from the webpage. The <title> would be a good start. I also want to know the best way for me to compare data I have. I'll show the basic code below, but I successfully go through each url in this text file. I put it in a <ul><li> list just fine. So if $url == http://www.youtube.com/file how is the normal way to check and see if the word "youtube" is in $url? I found preg_match() but I think I'm approaching the whole thing wrong because I get no output. I am an intermediate to somewhat advanced scripter in other languages similar to php, I just need to learn how you do the normal things in PHP. So I'd like to compare a string "youtube" to a variable '$url'. And I would like to be able to grab the title or other info from the file $url. Here is what I have so far. (Recent research showed me how I should do this with an XML file so I will probably change the .txt to .xml) Can you please tell me what to look for as I have been searching and can't really find a comprehensive answer. I changed the whole page to an echo trying to fix something last night. Before it was written like.. Code: [Select] <?php if ($true) { $var = value ?> <html code>The value is <?php $var ?> .</html code> <?php } ?> Code: [Select] /index.php <?php include 'include/header.html'; echo "<div id='wrapper'> <div id='left'> <div class='article'> <br /> <p>"; echo "Today is " . date("l") . ", the " . date("jS") . " of " . date("F") . "."; $lines = file('data/news.txt'); if ($lines){ foreach ($lines as $line_num => $line) { $url = htmlspecialchars($line); //Now I have url. I want to check the url and get the <title> & misc. data. //if youtube is in $url {html code to embed youtube}; //my attempt was $x = file($url); but I got a lot of 404 and 403 errors. //now I fill html. echo "<ul id='menu1' class='auroramenu'> <li><a href='#'>Story ".$line_num."</a> <a style='display: none;' class='aurorashow' href='#'></a> <a style='display: inline;' class='aurorahide' href='#'></a> <ul> <br /> <p>".$url."</p><br /> <li style='text-align:right;'><a href='".$url."' target='_blank'>Read the story.</a> </li> </ul> </li> </ul>"; } } echo "</p><br /> </div> </div> <div id='right'>"; include 'include/sidebar.html'; echo "</div><br class='clr' /></div><br />"; include 'include/footer.html'; ?> Thank you for your help. So I have been working on my website for a while which all is php&mysql based, now working on the social networking part building in similar functions like Facebook has. I encountered a difficulty with getting information back from a link. I've checked several sources how it is possible, with title 'Facebook Like URL data Extract Using jQuery PHP and Ajax' was the most popular answer, I get the scripts but all of these scripts work with html links only. My site all with php extensions and copy&paste my site links into these demos do not return anything . I checked the code and all of them using file_get_contents(), parsing through the html file so if i pass 'filename.php' it returns nothing supposing that php has not processed yet and the function gets the content of the php script with no data of course. So my question is that how it is possible to extract data from a link with php extension (on Facebook it works) or how to get php file executed for file_get_contents() to get back the html?
here is the link with code&demo iamusing: http://www.sanwebe.c...-php-and-jquery
thanks in advance.
Hi Everyone, I have just started using Simple HTML DOM today and I have spent 4 hours not getting what I want. I want to be able to extract the following information: Code: [Select] <div class="listing_content"> <span class="serialNumb" style="line-height: 21px;">77777</span> <br /> 444 ASDF, Alpha, Tango, Beta <br /> 77777 Director:99999 <div> <img title='web' src='http://cpgimg.com/images/icon_sm_web.gif' alt='web'/> <a href='javascript:void(0)' onClick="window.open('/redir.jsp?p_url=http:%2f%2fwww.cnn.com&p_cid=2707304&p_hid=279E00&p_ct=3527&p_pr=KO&p_fr=U');" class='listing_link'>website</a> <img title='email' src='http://cpgimg.com/images/icon_sm_mail.gif' alt='email'/> <a class='listing_link' href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="popupEmail('/email.jsp?lang=0&p_cid=2707304');(new Image()).src='/redir.jsp?p_url=&p_cid=2707304&p_hid=279E00&p_ct=3527&p_pr=ON&p_fr=E&msec='+(new Date()).getMilliseconds()">E-mail</a> </div> </div> The content I need to pull separately from above include: 1- serialNumb = 77777 2- 444 ASDF, Alpha, Tango, Beta 3- 77777 Director:99999 4- www.cnn.com I want all the data to recorded to different variables so I can upload them to MySQL. Any help with this is much appreciated. I don't have to use Simple DOM HTML but per my search it seems to be the best tool (however, I am not so lucky with it.) ***Not to forget that this page is full of <div>, <br />, <img>, and other tags. The quoted part is just one excerpt but this part is unique and used once in the page "style="line-height: 21px;". Also the "('/redir.jsp?p_url" is also unique for the URL portion. Thanks again. Hi, Hope somebody can help me because I am relatively new to PHP and I am currently unsure how to implement the following: Let's assume I have a table like this id_number, name, data1, data2. When displayed on HTML page: Column id_number should be hidden. Column name is a link. When you click on this column then value stored in id_number should be used in a query to database. Result should be displayed below the link on the same page. When clicked again data should hide. I have some idea how to toggle visibility with a simple javascript function. How do i populate the table with hidden data and then extract it later on? Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. Hey guys, I'm a total newbie here, and just about as a new to php. My issue: I have a very large .html file that contain multiple articles (I actually have a few of these, but we'll start with one for practicality). The article titles are all wrapped in <h2> tags, there are 10 articles in one file. The articles are very simple, just a title wrapped with <h2> and then a few paragraphs wrapped in <p> tags. What I want to know how to do: I want to know if there's a way to open that file, and have each article saved as it's own .html or .txt document (the title & following paragraphs of each article). Ultimately taking my 1 large file, and creating the subsequent 10 smaller files from the articles inside of it. I am having trouble explaining this in text so I'll try to illustrate: I have "Articles.html" - which contains (article1,article2,article3.. ..article10) I want to split "Articles.html" and create "Article1.html", "Article2.html", "Article3.html", etc. Is that possible? Or am I looking at something far more complex than I can imagine at this point - perhaps something I'd be better off doing by hand? Ultimately I intend to stick all these articles into a database, but that's the 2nd part of what I want to do (and I think will be the easier of the tasks). Let me know if you need any additional information in the event my description above is unclear... I simply am having issues figuring out how to separate out the text into individual articles. Hi there, I'm new a this, please help me: I've a page in php, that's showing the content of a table, but i want to put a link on it, to save that content in html file to my local hard disk. Can anyone help me please? Thanks a lot. This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=359179.0 Hey guys, OK, so actually I have two questions that are kind of related. The first one is how I can allow users to use <i>, <b>, <strong> tags when submitting information in a form. I would like to allow certain tags so they can emphasize things in their text, but I still want to strip the rest for security reasons. I tried using strip_tags() with some exceptions as a second parameter, but as far as I understand, that just allows them to be displayed as text, not for the browser to make text bold for instance. Below is what I have now. function stripdata($data) { return trim(htmlentities(stripslashes($data), ENT_QUOTES)); } echo stripdata($someDataFromMySQL); I also want to ask if the solution above is 100% safe so that users can not submit malicious code that can execute when users' visit a page of mine that displays that code. Thank you in advance. Hello everybody. Have a good day. I'm Lam, I have problem hope you help me. 1. Thanks Hi, how do I extract just file extension? eg: $file="hello.xml"; $fileExt=??? print $fileExt; Any help much appreciated! Hi guys, I'm using this upload/extract zip script. I wonder if I can modify the script to link the file after it is unzip. Now it just unzip and show the content, I want to give the link to that content. Please let me know if this even possible with the code below. <form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="index.php" method="POST"> Upload a Zip Archive (*.zip): <input name="zip" type="file" /><input type="submit" value="Upload" /> </form> <?php /* UnZip on Server - using PHP by 3scriptz.com */ //check if file is uploaded if(isset($_FILES['zip'])){ require_once('pclzip.lib.php'); //include class $upload_dir = 'uploads'; //your upload directory NOTE: CHMODD 0777 $filename = $_FILES['zip']['name']; //the filename //move file if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['zip']['tmp_name'], $upload_dir.'/'.$filename)) echo "Uploaded ". $filename . This seems great (http://phpexcel.codeplex.com/) but I can't see a way of reading images from excel files. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks I'm trying to extract the contents of a zip file to a folder. I found the ZipArchive class and followed the examples to get it to work for the most part. But I want to extract the files in the folder inside the zip file but leave the folder out. So it should extract just the files to my given destination. I found this on php.net. Code: [Select] If you want to copy one file at a time and remove the folder name that is stored in the ZIP file, so you don't have to create directories from the ZIP itself, then use this snippet (basically collapses the ZIP file into one Folder). <?php $path = 'zipfile.zip' $zip = new ZipArchive; if ($zip->open($path) === true) { for($i = 0; $i < $zip->numFiles; $i++) { $filename = $zip->getNameIndex($i); $fileinfo = pathinfo($filename); copy("zip://".$path."#".$filename, "/your/new/destination/".$fileinfo['basename']); } $zip->close(); } ?> For some reason that 'copy' line is not working for me. Obviosly I've changed the variables in the line to the correct variables. Can someone help me out. Thanks Mike Hello, For example: I am using this code: Code: [Select] $myFile = "newuser.txt"; $fh = fopen($myFile, 'r'); $theData = fread($fh, 5); fclose($fh); echo $theData; and it displays: Code: [Select] Bob 2 Which I am reading from my newuser.txt file! Which corresponds to the username bob, and he has the ID of 2. Now I want to make that linkable like this: Code: [Select] <a href=.?act=Profile&id=$IDFROMTEXTFILE(2)>$NAMEFROMTEXTFILE(BOB)</a> this is possible? If so, Thanks! I have a file ("header.html") that predominately has HTML in it. This may sound silly, but I would like to rename it as a .php file so that when I add comments next to my PHP, my IDE will shade them gray. I just changed all of my PHP comments from // Some PHP comment to <!-- New and Improved PHP comment --> only to realize that PHP freaks out and doesn't treat them as comments - like NetBeans falsely does - but treats them as erroneous code. (Now I have to go back and fix all of my files back to the way they were?!) If I could change my file from "header.html" to "header.php" then all of my // Comments would be grayed out in my PHP blocks and make my code easier to read. To achieve that end, is it okay to rename a file from .html to .php even if most of the content is HTML and only a little is PHP? (BTW, could you have a file that has 100% html content saved as a .php file and still have it work properly?!) Thanks, TomTees Hello. I have one programming problem. I have this log, from witch i have to read specific area of text: webtopay.log OK 123.456.7.89 [2012-03-15 09:09:59 -0400] v1.5: MIKRO to:"1398", from:"865458961", id:"13525948", sms:"MCLADM thing" So i need the script to extract word "thing" from that log. Also that script has to check if there is new entries in the log, and extract text from the last one. (Explaining in other words, that script should extract word AFTER MCLADM. Every time its a different word) p.s. I need that script to be integrated here (this has to send command to server "/manuadd (text from log)" : Code: [Select] <?php try{ $HOST = "178.16.35.196"; //the ip of the bukkit server $password = "MCLietuva"; //Can't touch this: $sock = socket_create(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0) or die("error: could not create socket\n"); $succ = socket_connect($sock, $HOST, 4445) or die("error: could not connect to host\n"); //Authentification socket_write($sock, $command = md5($password)."<Password>", strlen($command) + 1) or die("error: failed to write to socket\n"); //Begin custom code here. socket_write($sock, $command = "/Command/ExecuteConsoleCommandAndReturn-SimpleBroadCast:broadcast lol;", strlen($command) + 1) //Writing text/command we want to send to the server or die("error: failed to write to socket\n"); sleep(2); // This is example code and here has to be that script i want to make. //while(($returnedString = socket_read($sock,50000))!= ""){ $returnedString = socket_read($sock,50000,PHP_NORMAL_READ); print($returnedString) //} print("End of script"); socket_close($sock); }catch(Exception $e){ echo $e->getMessage(); } ?> I hope i made things clear and you will help me Thanks I am trying to figure out how we can run a html file within a php script. |
