PHP - Find And Replace A String In A Text File

Hi, Everyone!

I have an issue and I'm not even sure if it can be done with PHP, but even this info would help me (to stop looking for an answer).

I need to populate a (MySQL) database with stuff which is now written in a (HTML formatted) file. Here are my options:
1. Copy/paste each single field via PHPMyAdmin .
2. Write a little script to extract the necessary parts of text from these files to create a CSV-like content which I would then easily INSERT into the db.

Example
The files look like this:

and it goes like... 100 times in each file in the same standard pattern with the "What I need to extract" parts being completely different each time.

Since it's possible to tell when each part required for extraction begins and ends, I would expect the script to look for these key-points (according to the example, it would be: img/ to  "></d then "><b> to </b>< and else"> to </div>) and return a result like this (acc. to the example): ('what_i_need_to_extract_1.png', 'What I need to extract 2', 'What I need to extract 3'), (and so on...).

Is it possible? Is there a function/option/way to look for a start/end-point like this and fetch the part between these two set points? If so - how? Any help would be appreciated, I'm not expecting a full code, obviously, just a point to the right direction or where to look at would be nice. Thanks in advance.

i wrote a find and replace code but my code replace last value of array and skip the first, second.... values in the array.
Please give me an idea because i stack with this code.

The title says it all,..well as all u can see, there are many methods to accomplish this done but not before undergoing through a heavy tasking process. For instance,
1. Open the file
2. Reads the content of the file into array.
3. Find out the desire line of text that we want to replace.
4. Make that line of text as variable and assigns with the new data(that we want to replace) as its values.
5.open another file.
6.Write the whole contents to the file opened in 5.
7. Put the contents back to the file of original.

Can anyone contributes a better way to get this done? Like replace/delete a specific line without affecting other characters or anything therein?

reading and using str_replace to make the alteration always ends up in giving some kind of result beyond desired after the first round of code execution.

The situation is that I have a large string with some identifiers to say "replace me" with something else. My goal is to replace the values, but if one replacement includes one of the other keys, I don't want to replace it.   For example:

echo str_replace( $arr_orig, $arr_new, $str );

This will echo: some blob valueblah followed by blah   But that's not what I'm trying to accomplish. Basically, I want ~abc~ to be replaced with the literal: value~def~ and for the ~def~ that happens to be part of that string to NOT be replaced. I hope what I'm asking is clear. Basically, preg_replace/str_replace with arrays seems no different than just doing a FOR loop and replacing ~abc~ and then ~def~. But that's not what I need.   I'm hoping that if ~abc~ is replaced with text that happens to be another identifier -- ~def~, ~xyz~, whatever -- that this already replaced text is not again replaced. Is there a built-in function to do something like this? If not, should I just parse the whole string and count characters or something? Seems like a pain (and slow!)

I have a long string of html, and what I want to do, if find all occurrences of:

/static (anything after)...

and replace with:

http://www.mydomain.com/static (anything after).

What is the best and fastest way to do this? Thanks.

Okay for some reason i cannot do this, when i open a file in php and search for string, it doesn't seem to work, some codes i tried:

I tried many others like strstr, stristr, preg_replace etc etc, doesn't seem to find it.. this is my text file:

I'm trying to increment a numerical value and after several hours of reading haven't come up with a solution.
this may be too much information but here it is;

like at moment i have if find space replace with "-"

I know this won't be possible with DOC, but it should be with DOCX.

Basically I want to have someone write up a docx file using special tokens in certain places.  Then my PHP would find and replace those tokens when the users needs to.  It would create and serve a NEW docx file with the tokens replaced.

Any ideas on this? I'm reading up on a ton of libraries, but nearly all of them, their examples don't work out of the box.

I need to Find and Replace some words in Source HTML, which is saved in a PHP Variable.

Example:

Find Condition: I want to FInd word "Paintball Mask" in vairiable $html, only where if the word "Paintball Mask" is there in Htaml Tag <Strong> </Strong>.  As you can observe in $html, we have "Paintball Mask" in <IMG> Tag also, i want to Skip this because I only Need to COnsider if the word "Paintball Mask" there in <strong></strong> or not.


One the words is found in <strong></strong> tag, i need to replace that word, to make it a hyperlink. (I think this bit can be done with strreplace())

But how can i restict my search to only <strong></strong> tag?

What I need help with is probably more simple then I can even think right now - ive been digging at this for 3 hrs now and im out of time for the night

I have a DB Record storing ID's between PIPES |

when the initial entry is made in DB it stores it like so
|47|      NOTE: the number could be different these are ID's number doesnt matter its just between Pipes

When the second entry is added its added like so

|47||67|

say we have a total of 5 Entries

|47||67||82||55||69|

I need to find ID 82 in that string and it has to be between Pipes
Find 82 in data between | and return that ID 82

I am putting between pipes because the ID's can be duplicate digits in different lengths
so say I have 8 as my ID and down the string i have another id as 88  -- I cant possibly find the correct ID without some sort of seperation character so i used Pipes

soo my end goal is the ability to search and if true or false do action
