PHP - Showing Mysql Data
Hi all,
I want to create a website, where the user can add any number of custom fields, and then put any info there he or she wants. I then need a site to display the info. The problem is that I have no idea on what would be the smartest way to do this. Let's say it was about flowers and they created a "type" field and a "stock" field. How could i make sure, that the correct stock will be displayed with the correct type field? Similar TutorialsThe following code should output 1743425391, but it does not show anything <?php $xml_feed_url = 'http://api.eve-online.com/eve/CharacterID.xml.aspx?names=TX1'; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $xml_feed_url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); $xml = curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); $xmlr = new SimpleXMLElement($xml); $charid = $xmlr->result->characterID; echo $charid; ?> The xml is: Code: [Select] <eveapi version="2"> <currentTime>2011-02-01 05:22:38</currentTime> − <result> − <rowset name="characters" key="characterID" columns="name,characterID"> <row name="TX1" characterID="1743425391"/> </rowset> </result> <cachedUntil>2011-03-01 05:22:38</cachedUntil> </eveapi> Any ideas where I went wrong? Hello to all, I have problem figuring out how to properly display data fetched from MySQL database in a HTML table. In the below example I am using two while loops, where the second one is nested inside first one, that check two different expressions fetching data from tables found in a MySQL database. The second expression compares the two tables IDs and after their match it displays the email of the account holder in each column in the HTML table. The main problem is that the 'email' row is displayed properly while its while expression is not nested and alone(meaning the other data is omitted or commented out), but either nested or neighbored to the first while loop, it is displayed horizontally and the other data ('validity', 'valid_from', 'valid_to') is not displayed.'
Can someone help me on this, I guess the problem lies in the while loop? <thead> <tr> <th data-column-id="id" data-type="numeric">ID</th> <th data-column-id="email">Subscriber's Email</th> <th data-column-id="validity">Validity</th> <th data-column-id="valid_from">Valid From</th> <th data-column-id="valid_to">Valid To</th> </tr> </thead> Here is part of the PHP code:
<?php while($row = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { echo ' <tr> <td>'.$row["id"].'</td> '; while ($row1 = $stmt1->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { echo ' <td>'.$row1["email"].'</td> '; } if($row["validity"] == 1) { echo '<td>'.$row["validity"].' month</td>'; }else{ echo '<td>'.$row["validity"].' months</td>'; } echo ' <td>'.$row["valid_from"].'</td> <td>'.$row["valid_to"].'</td> </tr>'; } ?>
Thank you. This could be PHP or MySql so putting it in PHP forum for now... I have code below (last code listed) which processes a dynamically created Form which could have anywhere from 0 to 6 fields. So I clean all fields whether they were posted or not and then I update the mySQL table. The problem with this code below is that if, say, $cextra was not posted (i.e. it wasnt on the dynamically created form), then this code would enter a blank into the table for $cextra (i.e. if there was already a value in the table for $cextra, it gets overwritten, which is bad). What is the best way to handle this? I'm thinking i have to break my SQL query into a bunch of if/else statements like this... Code: [Select] $sql = "UPDATE cluesanswers SET "; if (isset($_POST['ctext'])){ echo "ctext='$ctext',"; } else { //do nothing } and so on 5 more times.... That seems horribly hackish/inefficient. Is there a better way? Code: [Select] if (isset($_POST['hidden']) && $_POST['hidden'] == "edit") { $cimage=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['cimage'])); $ctext=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['ctext'])); $cextra=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['cextra'])); $atext=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['atext'])); $aextra=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['aextra'])); $aimage=trim(mysql_prep($_POST['aimage'])); //update the answer edits $sql = "UPDATE cluesanswers SET ctext='$ctext', cextra='$cextra', cimage='$cimage', atext='$atext', aextra='$aextra', aimage='$aimage'"; $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection); if (!$result) { die("Database query failed: " . mysql_error()); } else { } Hello, I have done this with SimpleXML variables many times. I seem to be struggling with something really simple as I am venturing out with some JSON. Basically there is a variable $nowcast. Sometimes that node may be empty. So I want to display an alternative message if it is empty like it is now. Unfortunately I am having some struggles and can't get the message to display when the node is empty. What am I missing?
-Thanks

This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=325313.0 I was wondering how does one go about showing results from SELECT query in columns in a html table. I have a list of products in a table, and would like to show them on the page in 4 columns. I have done many searches on google to try and find the sulution, but the majority of what im finding instead is about displaying a table from phpmyadmin as a table in html. If its a large operation to do this, I would be very happy if someone could poiint me in the direction of a tutorial maybe. Here is the code I have so far to display the products, but for some reason, it only show 1 row instead of all the rows from my table. Code: [Select] <?php $dbhost = "localhost"; $dbuser = "user"; $dbpass = "pass"; $dbname = "dbname"; mysql_connect ($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass)or die("Could not connect: ".mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($dbname) or die(mysql_error()); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM mcproducts"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $products_local_id = $row['products_local_id']; $productname = $row['product_name']; $thumburl = $row['image_from_url']; $productlink = $row['product_local_url']; $thumbnail = $row['product_image_small']; $currencysymbol = $row['product_currency']; $price = $row['product_price']; $flagicon = $row['product_country_from']; } ?> <html> <head> <link href="style/stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div class="displaybox"> <div class="productimage"> <a href="<?php echo $productlink; ?><?php echo $products_local_id; ?>"><img src="<?php echo $thumburl; ?><?php echo $thumbnail ?>" width="150" height="150"></a> </div> <div class="productdescription"> <div class="pro_name"> <a href="<?php echo $productlink ?><?php echo $products_local_id; ?>"><?php echo $productname; ?></a> </div> <div class="pro_description"> </div> <?php if ($flagicon=="Ireland") { $flagicon = "<img src=\"flags/ireland.jpg\">"; } elseif ($flagicon=="UK") { $flagicon = "<img src=\"flags/uk.jpg\">"; } else echo ""; ?> <div class="pro_description"><?php echo $flagicon; ?><?php echo $currencysymbol ?> <?php echo $price ?></div> </div> </div> </body> </html> Many thanks, DB I Have a protected members section on my site for staff. I would like it so that information specific to that member of staff would appear on their homepage straight after login. Just basic information that is stored on a MySQL database so they can login and check appointments and clients etc for the week etc. is this something that is possible to do in PHP and MySQL? or am I going mad? At the moment I have the entire table on the members homepage and the only way I've figured out to specify a member to only show one users information is to use - (SELECT * FROM Tutors WHERE name = 'XXX'. I don't like this method as it would mean i would have to have a separate files for each member. I was hoping I could do something along the lines of - WHERE name = ' relative to the login name used'. but I am sure I am flogging a dead horse here. So many websites do this kind of thing and I'm surprised after scouring the net for hours and hours that I haven't found any useful information or tutorials on the subject. I am fairly new to programming in PHP and MySQL and am only just getting to grips with the lingo. Maybe I've just been seacrhing the wrong thing, I don't Know. Any help at all would be amazing and much appreciated, a nudge in the right direction would be a start as I'm getting nowhere on my own THANKS I have a form on our website that a user can fill out for custom product. I want the form data to be 1) stored into a mysql database AND after storing said data, 2) email the same data to our sales department. 1) The form data DOES get stored into mysql database (except for the first two fields, for some weird reason) 2) I added a "mail" section to the php file that stores the data into the database, but it is not working correctly. I have stripped the email portion down to sending just one of the fields in the "message" to make it easier for troubleshooting I have included here, both the form section of the html file, and the formdata.php file that processes the data for your analysis. I am relatively new to php so there are going to be some issues with security, but I can work on those after I get the store & email process to work correctly. Please review my code and see if anyone can be of assistance. I looked through the forums and couldn't find another issue that was the same as mine. Hi guys, I have an array: array ( [apple]=> red, [orange] => orange, [banana] => yellow ) That I want to insert into the apidata table, the PDO connection is good so I guess my code is wrong: $mykeys = implode(', ', array_keys($newarr)); $myplaceholders[] = '(' . implode (", ", array_fill(0, count($newarr), '?')) . ')'; $values = array_values($newarr); $res = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO apidata (item, value) VALUES $myplaceholders") ; $res->execute([$mykeys, $values]); The apidata table has three fields id (auto_increment) item and value, where am I going wrong? Thanks I am in the process of writing code for a dynamic form. I have the part of the form written for information to be entered. I am now trying to write code for the modification of the information in the table. I know that I want to get the table data my doing a MySql Select and putting that information into an array. I am not very familiar with arrays and have spent some time looking for a solution online with no solution. When I print_r the results I get what I want but when I do anything else I get Array. What I am actually looking to do is make it so that the table data is in another variable this is the section of code that I am working with. Code: [Select] $mod_form = "<form name='insert_table' id='insert_table' action='ad_add.php' method='post' enctype='multipart/form-data'> <fieldset> <legend>table information</legend> <input name='table' TYPE='hidden' VALUE='" . $table . "' />"; $mod_sql = "SELECT * FROM $table WHERE id = '$id'"; $mod_sql_result = mysql_query($mod_sql); $allowed_ext = array('jpg', 'jpeg', 'png', 'gif'); $input_array = array(); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($mod_sql_result, MYSQL_NUM)) { $input_array[] = $row; } foreach ($input_array as $input => $data) { print_r($data); } while ($i < mysql_num_fields($mod_sql_result)) { $header = str_replace("_", " ", (mysql_field_name($mod_sql_result, $i))); $name = mysql_field_name($mod_sql_result, $i); (mysql_field_name($mod_sql_result, $i) == 'image' ? $mod_form .= "<p>" . $header . ": <input name='" . $name . "' id='" . $name . "' type='file' /></p>" : $mod_form .= "<p>" . $header . ": <input name='" . $name . "' id='" . $name . "' type='text' value='" . $input . "'/></p>"); $i++; } $mod_form .= " <p> <input type='submit' name='submit_mod' id='submit_mod' /> </p> </fieldset> </form> "; echo $mod_form; |
