PHP - Steam Feed And Php Loop Problems
Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to PHP but i know the basics. I've been working with the Steam XML feeds for various reasons and i'm trying to create a list of friends that show whether they are online/offline, show their profile pic... etc... To get a persons friends list (using me as an example) is: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197970734089/friends?xml=1 But to get to get more information from the friends you take the steamID from the above XML and take information from their main profile XML feed, i have to do this because the normal profile XML (again as me as an example): http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197970734089?xml=1 , only displays 6 friends details at a time. I hope you under stand but please see my PHP below, the problem i'm having is that it takes forever to run the loop and certain mobile browsers just wont display the page (timeout). This is basically my entire code that calls the steam api. Here is the echo function I use to try and call it on a profile.php page...

I been trying to figure out this for the past week and its starting to drive me nuts and loose motivation on my project. Everything else works great minus this one issue. I use a function to call my database hint the global $DB; in my functions just to give you anymore information I can. $steam variable I believe is coming from my class at the very top of my code that is were $steam comes from. There are 5 records from a join query. The first two columns display the results, 2 results in the left column and 3 results in the center column. The right column displayw empyt text used in displaying the results, there is no data to populate and it seems to mimic the the number from the center, 3.

Originally the data comes from ~2-3 database tables, of course. But to ilustrate the point, this is how the main array looks like. This array usually contains anywhere between 10-50 rows, each row containing at least 10 dates, with 10 key/values each.
And after setting up all the data, it needs to be processed. Currently this is how a friend of mine did it..

Obviously this isn't good practise, but we can't seem to figure out a better way of doing it, since both the data and the loops are horribly nested.
This loop and setup of $firstArray is run anywhere between 10-20 times/request, due to amount of users we wish to process. So, the result is that this code can take up to over 2-3 minutes to complete, which isn't really optimal performance.
In short my question is, are there any better methods of handling this with the data setup we currently have?

How can I resolve this? Also, will I have to manually update my xml file for rss feeds or can it be updated automatically? If so how? Thanks I'm lost on this one. When I view this in my browser I can subscribe to the feed (I am using firefox). However I asked someone else to see if they could subscribe (they were using IE) but the couldn't. For instance http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?p=77056 I pulled this script from a tutorial online and it works great for displaying the temperature and condition and i realize those values are located within the xml.
