PHP - Storing Ip Address

Hi,
I am struggling with a form in php. I am trying to add a form by using the include function. I want to include thsi form on all pages so it would be very useful if I can save the current page name somewhere so that I can use to validate the form.

For example, this is the form I am trying to include.

Because I am going to use this form on all pages, I would like it to include whatever the filename is rather than index.php in the first line of the form so that when the user clicks submit, it will stay on the same page but validate the form based on the mandatory fields.

Hello all, I'm having some problems with a script ive written which is designed to allow me to send a message to all the users of my site.

the form works fine, the SQL works fine but im having a problem with storing php variables and outputting them in the message.

The form has a field named "allmessage" which is where i'll type my message, I'll type something like

"Hello $Name" and store the text as

Any ideas?!

So, on my website, i have added a "last active" feature, so if someone is surfing the site, they can view when another users last page visit was.

so, every second, +1 is added to the $ts variable

what i have now, working and all, shows ONLY "NOW!", or ONLY "1 second", ONLY "___ seconds ago"... and so on

I have tred over, and over, and over to fix this to my liking, with more instances available, as an example, my current script will show somebody who is 13 months and 26 days inactive, just as "1 year", i want to see the "1 year, 1 month, and 26 days inactive"... or even simpler, just so it displays days/minutes/seconds/NOW!

Let's see if I can explain this ok.. Basically I have a site and the page product categories use dynamically created URL's. I want to use these URL's to put on my products so I can list all the categories each product is in. But, as these URL's are not stored anywhere I'm not sure how to go about calling them. Is the best way going to be to modify the site to store the page URL's in MySQL? Or could they be stored within variables in PHP? A little guidance would be great! Thanks in advance 

Im making a application but many users can access it at the same time, also the data that needs to be stored into the database in 3 parts firstly the user will enter some details the comany will fill out the reamining details and the user will then accept or decline the companies proposal. The issue im havign will it be easier to just store all of this information into session variables and then save them into the database at the end when all of the details are ready ?

Hi, i would like to know what is the best method to store a picture. Currently what happens, is each user has a different avatar, which when uploaded comes in a folder called Avatar, in my website folder and is also stored as a BLOB in mysql. I would like to know is this ok to store all avatars in one folder or some other step should be used and if so could some one guide me to a good tutorial. As I would also like to make an option, where people could upload their pictures, is it safe to store pictures in the same folder for all users or some how create a different folder for each user.

I'm currently working on a project and it is the first time I have had to store/retrieve an array with PHP and MySQL. Basically its a website that has a list of discounts/coupons on it. People can register and submit their discounts and such. I am storing an array for who is eligible for the discount, as well as which categories the discount falls under.

I did some googling and there seems to be tons of thoughts on the best way to do this. Some say to use implode/explode, some say to serialize/unserialize, I was just wondering if there is a common, concrete way to do this?

I will need to be able to search the array for its contents. So if children are eligible for the discount, I need to be able to store that in a database, retrieve it later, and search it for only "Children" so I can display the discounts available only to children.

If someone could please advise the best way to do this and post some examples, it would be greatly appreciated. I learn best with examples that are explained properly.

Hello. I'm working on a website with an editor that allows image uploading. Ideally I want to be able to develop a framework for this and use it in later projects. What I have in mind is this:
  Database has an images table Entries contain these fields: id, filename, and a short description Images are referred to by their ids in other parts of the application. That part seems simple to me, but now there are two details I need to determine: the file name, and storing the images.
Big sites like Facebook - as far as I know - parse uploads and store them all in the same format. I can see the huge security benefit there. What are the best ways of doing that? As for the file name, I know PHP has a function to generate a file with a unique name. Is there any benefit to doing that over using the id? (i.e. 1.jpg, 2.png, 3.jpg, etc)

I am having a small problem with setting and storing data using $_SESSION for a login script to validate that a user is logged in.
The outputted error message I'm getting is;

I am having a wierd problem and I dont know what is causing it - PHP/MySql.?

Server  - Apache on Fedora
Php - 5.3.2
MySql - 5.1.47

In the same server config I have implemented storing files into blob fields any type of file by using mysql as well as mysqli.
The one implemented by mysql is working just fine.

But the one using mysqli is not working for anything other than text files.
For image files the following error is coming -
Error interpreting JPEG image file (Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x0a 0xff)
For word/pdf etc the files are getting corrupted in such a way that the concerned application is not recognising it as a valid document.

I have emerged yet again with another question.

I currently have a fully operational Minecraft Voting for Diamonds script (Don't turn away because you saw Minecraft, this has nothing to do with it), and want to enhance it; though a 'Top Voters' list.

Now, basically the script goes like this
Login Page > Main Page with links > Rewarding Script > thank you message.

On the main page with links, once all links are clicked on, you click a 'Get Rewarded' button. I want to track who clicks this, and how many times a month it is clicked by them. Only 1 click on the button is allowed per day, with the use of cookies. This means the maximum amount of clicks on it per month, per user would be something around 30. I store the players usernane in the cookies, and if they have voted today, but that is all.

The Top Voters list would look something like this:

Userwhatever - 6 Votes
Blarg - 4 votes
Someone - 2 votes
And so on...

I want an ordered list of users which have voted that month. 'Votes', would be the amount of times that 'Get Rewarded' had been clicked.

How can I make this? I will also require it to reset all votes of the first of every month, how do I do this?

This seems really straight forward but I can't figure out why it's happening.  As a part of an account registration script, I'm randomly generating a password using a function called, generatePassword($length,$strength);
I hash the password (md5) before putting it in the database but I also email the non-hashed version to the user.  My problem is that each time I call the variable, it generates a new password so the one in the database does not match the one received by the user, $user_password_plain = generatePassword($length,$strength);
$user_password = md5($user_password_plain);
Is there a different way to store the variable so that I can access it later in the script and it will be the same?  I tried using a session variable but that didn't seem to work either.  Thanks!

Okay, so I have a form and now I am trying to write the post data to a db. The thing is, the way the HTML was designed, I had to adopt a poor naming convention in order to satisfy some other requirements. I'm just getting into PHP.. Is it possible to assign PHP variables and then store these variables to my database instead? Right now, I have an e-mail sent to myself but it looks like gibberish.. So I started doing this
