PHP - Form 'file' To A Function
Hi all,
It's been a while since I was here. It's been a while since I got a chance to get back to php seriously come to think of it. I'm a newb though so be gentle ;) I'm trying to learn the language by writing a basic application that will read from .csv, store in db and write a .qif file to import into my accounting program. Correct me if I'm wrong but I discovered you can't call a function from an html for so I did the following but can't get it to work. I suspect I'm not sending the correct info to the function. Here is what I've come up with: index.php <?php error_reporting ( E_ALL ); include_once 'csvtest.php'; <form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"><label for="file">Filename:</label> <input type="file" name="csvfile" id="csvfile" /><br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /></form> <?php /* * Validate the file */ if ($_FILES ["csvfile"] > 0) { $csvfile = $_FILES ["csvfile"] ["name"]; if ($csvfile != "kbc.csv" && $csvfile != "kt.csv") { die ( "<p>The csv file can only be named <b>kbc.csv</b> or <b>kt.csv</b>.</p>" ); } } else { die ( "<br/><b>Error: Can't find the csv file (" . $_FILES ["csvfile"] ["error"] . ").</b><br/>" ); } // Send data to function $csv = new csvtest (); $csvarray = $csv->csv2array ( $csvfile ); echo "count: " . $csvarray[0]; ?> csvtest.php <?php class csvtest { public function csv2array($csvfile) { echo "In csv2array function"; $arrResult = array (); $handle = fopen ( $csvfile, "r" ); if ($handle) { while ( ($data = fgetcsv ( $handle, 1000, ";" )) !== FALSE ) { $arrResult [] = $data; } fclose ( $handle ); } else { die ( "<br/><b>Error: Can't open the csv file: $csvfile</b><br/>" ); } //return $arrResult; return count($arrResult); } } What am I doing wrong and more importantly, am I going at it the right way? Many thanks for any advice! Similar TutorialsHi all i have stumbled across an issue and really need some help i have got a function below which i am using in a wordpress plugin. here is the code. // Base function function isd_s3player() { // Plugin Url $s3url = WP_PLUGIN_URL.'/'.str_replace(basename( __FILE__),"",plugin_basename(__FILE__)); echo '<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="'.$s3url.'dewplayer-playlist.swf" width="235" height="200" id="dewplayer" name="dewplayer"> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="movie" value="'.$s3url.'dewplayer-playlist.swf" /> <param name="flashvars" value="showtime=true&autoreplay=true&xml='.$s3url.'playlist.php&autostart=1" /> </object>'; } ok the problem i am having is i cant passed the database variable to the playlist.php which the dewplayer needs to call within the function. is their a way to somehow use or set the playlist.php in this function without having to call it seperatly??? Here is my playlist.php <?php $bucket = get_option("isd-bucket"); $folder = get_option("isd-folder"); //include the S3 class if (!class_exists('S3'))require_once('s3/S3.php'); //AWS access info if (!defined('awsAccessKey')) define('awsAccessKey', 'amazon key'); if (!defined('awsSecretKey')) define('awsSecretKey', 'amazon secret key'); //instantiate the class $s3 = new S3(awsAccessKey, awsSecretKey); // Get the contents of our bucket $bucket_contents = $s3->getBucket($bucket,$folder); header("Content-type: text/xml"); $xml_output = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" ?>\n"; $xml_output .= '<playlist version="1" xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/">\n'; $xml_output .= "<trackList>\n"; foreach ($bucket_contents as $file){ $fname = $file['name']; $furl = "http://$amazon_bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/".urlencode($fname); if(preg_match("/\.mp3$/i", $furl)) { if (isset($outputted[$furl])) { continue; } $xml_output .= "\t<track>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<location>" . $furl . "</location>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<creator>" . $fname . "</creator>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<album>" . $fname . "</album>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<title>" . basename($fname) . "</title>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<annotation>I love this song</annotation>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<duration>32000</duration>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<image>covers/smetana.jpg</image>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<info></info>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t\t<link>" . $furl . "</link>\n"; $xml_output .= "\t</track>\n"; $outputted[$furl] = true; } } $xml_output .= "</trackList>"; echo $xml_output; ?> ok so as you can see right at the top i am trying to grab two option from the database but it doesnt allow you to do it this way within wordpress. So i guess what i am asking is their a way to completely skip the playlist.php file and do everything within the function??? Any help?? Hello, Can someone help me with these contact-form please, I just want to include a file (.pdf, .jpg, .png) and send the mail.

I have a client who has a form where they upload files to their server: title, two password fields, and the file
They have been unable to upload anything over 10m
Small (under 10mb) files work.
Larger doesn’t
I’ve tracked it down, I think, that the processing page appears to be dropping the form values when the file takes a bit to upload.
I echo’ed the values that are grabbed from the form, and they return empty strings if it takes a while for the file to upload (a large file) - they pass fine if the file is smaller.
I think I've got the php info set correctly, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to adjust the timing out issue, or even where to troubleshoot.
Here's my phpinfo:

I'm trying to include a routine to catch an error but it doesn't seem to write to a text file within a function. just using the following simple code, even if I simply try to write a letter it doesn't work
if ($http_status == 200) { return $response; } else { $myfile = fopen("ErrorData.txt", "a+") or die("Unable to open file!"); $txt = date("H:i:sa d-m-Y")." / Error data- / ".json_encode($response)."\r\n"; fwrite($myfile, $txt); fclose($myfile); }
Edited September 13, 2019 by Dvae56 Added code I used the move_uploaded_file function to upload files to my server ,but the function changes the Arabic names of files because most of my files are Arabic named
how can I fix that ?
Hi, I have exactly the same script and same php.ini file like this website : https://translatesubtitles.com and as you can see the proccess of that php website is: upload srt file redirection to translate.php file where the uploaded text is shown in the table my website script is : https://translatesubtitles.co and when I try to upload srt file it redirected me to the translate.php page but there is no text shown in the table, so what can be the problem?
I have a php file with a bunch of variables declared. I now need a function to put data on a separate page that pulls variables from the required page. <?php function getplayer($position) { // start function //$new_position = "$" . $position; $new_position = $position; $file = "their.php"; require "$file"; //echo $qb1; this displays the name John Doe...as $qb1 is declared in the required file $db_select_their = "bschultz_their"; $servername = "localhost"; $username = "user"; $password = "pass"; $dbname = "db_name"; // Create connection $conn = new mysqli($servername, $username, $password, $dbname); // Check connection if ($conn->connect_error) { die("Connection failed: " . $conn->connect_error); } $sql = "SELECT * FROM (select number as position_number, name as position_name, pronunciation as position_pronunciation, pos as position_pos, height as position_height, weight as position_weight, year as position_year, city as position_city, state as position_state, notes as position_notes FROM $db_select_their WHERE name = '$new_position') as position"; //$sql = "SELECT * FROM bschultz_their WHERE name = $new_position"; echo $sql; //exit; /* this displays this text... SELECT * FROM (select number as position_number, name as position_name, pronunciation as position_pronunciation, pos as position_pos, height as position_height, weight as position_weight, year as position_year, city as position_city, state as position_state, notes as position_notes FROM bschultz_their WHERE name = '') as position The name is empty */ $result = $conn->query($sql); if ($result->num_rows > 0) { // output data of each row while($row = $result->fetch_assoc()) { echo "#: " . $position_number . " - Name: " . $position_name . ""; } } else { echo "0 results"; } } // end function getplayer("${$qb1}"); $conn->close(); ?>Edited September 8, 2019 by bschultz hey you guys, I have a bunch of files on a server and I had to populate each one with this code: <?php include("https://www.domain.com/r/pagevisit.php"); ?> however, I'm getting an error, which I understand: QuoteWarning: include(): https:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_include=0 in This gentleman on SO suggests that doing this is not the right way, and will always throw the error: https://stackoverflow.com/a/23285648 This site is getting quite large now, and I might just have to throw the content of all the files into a DB and pull it out when each page is requested. however, for now everything is just PHP files sitting on the server. so the question => is there anyway I can keep the include() code I currently have on each page, or does each file have to have it changed to the relative URI path? if I can keep it the way it is, where is the configs to change it? I might not even have access to it since this is shared hosting. thanks! Adam Edited February 18, 2020 by ajetrumpetHello guys i have been trying to find an alternative file function to read multiple files into an array. My aim is to preg_replace every file in directory starting with Audit_Report with the font colours...i have been googling it for like 2 hours and the closest answer i can get to is using the glob() function but it doesn't work for me still. I would like you guys to give me suggestions if you can..thanks!! <?php $file = "Audit_Report.(SEAN).(192.168.199.129).txt"; $lines = file($file); foreach ($lines as $line) { $string = $line; $patterns = array(); $patterns[0] = '/\bPass\b/'; $patterns[1] = '/\bFail\b/'; $patterns[2]='/\b============ Major Audit and Account Policies============ \b/'; $replacements = array(); $replacements[1] = "<font color=red>Fail</font>"; $replacements[0] = "<font color=green>Pass</font>"; $replacements[2] = "<br><b>==== Major Audit and Account Policies====</b>"; ksort($patterns); ksort($replacements); $a = preg_replace($patterns, $replacements, $string); echo "$a<br />\n"; file_put_contents(basename($file, substr($file, strpos($file, '.'))) . ".html","$a<br />\n", FILE_APPEND) or die("Cannot write file"); } ?> I have 2 php files. I am unable to get B's global variable from A's static method: A.php Code: [Select] class c_A { public static function f_A() { include_once( "B.php" ) ; print f_B() ; } } c_A::f_A( ); // only prints "B : " B.php Code: [Select] $gvs = "global variable from B" ; function f_B() { return "B : " . $GLOBALS[ "gvs" ] ; } any thoughts? thanks, Shannon Hi there, I have already read some other topics concerning the same problem I am encountering. I have multiple applications which I programmed in PHP. In all of these applications I use a central authentication database and a central translation database (also on PHP). For this to work, I need to include a functions.php file for both the authentication db as for the translation db in all of my sites. Because I use different URL's for all my apps, including auth and transl, I am forced to use an URL when including both the functions.php files of the auth db and the transl db. As I found out (the hard way) PHP5 doesn't include the raw data of my functions.php files into the calling files, so none of my functions are known and I receive an error "Call to undefined function ...". Since I am using these programs only on an internal network (not public available), I am not afraid of any security issues. Is there any way I can include my functions.php files using an URL (like include ('http://trans.mysite.com/sys/functions.php');) so the defined functions in the functions.php file are known for the calling page? I hope I am not too confusing you all with my story, but I would really be very greatfull with some help. If needed I can also provide you with some more coding I used and configuring. I already checked my php.ini file and the following settings have already been applied: allow_url_fopen = On allow_url_include = On short_open_tag = On Many thanks in advance. Here is function that backup mysql database. It's working fine, but I want to download file instead of creating it. /* backup the db OR just a table */ function backup_tables($host,$user,$pass,$name,$tables = '*') { $link = mysql_connect($host,$user,$pass); mysql_select_db($name,$link); //get all of the tables if($tables == '*') { $tables = array(); $result = mysql_query('SHOW TABLES'); while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { $tables[] = $row[0]; } } else { $tables = is_array($tables) ? $tables : explode(',',$tables); } //cycle through foreach($tables as $table) { $result = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM '.$table); $num_fields = mysql_num_fields($result); $return.= 'DROP TABLE '.$table.';'; $row2 = mysql_fetch_row(mysql_query('SHOW CREATE TABLE '.$table)); $return.= "\n\n".$row2[1].";\n\n"; for ($i = 0; $i < $num_fields; $i++) { while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { $return.= 'INSERT INTO '.$table.' VALUES('; for($j=0; $j<$num_fields; $j++) { $row[$j] = addslashes($row[$j]); $row[$j] = str_replace("\n","\\n",$row[$j]); if (isset($row[$j])) { $return.= '"'.$row[$j].'"' ; } else { $return.= '""'; } if ($j<($num_fields-1)) { $return.= ','; } } $return.= ");\n"; } } $return.="\n\n\n"; } //save file $date= date("d-M-Y_h-i"); $handle = fopen('Backup-'.$date.'.sql','w+'); fwrite($handle,$return); fclose($handle); } Usage: Quote backup_tables('HOST','USER','PASS','TABLE'); But this will create backup file on server. I also tried to add following code in function (at the end): echo $return; header('Content-type: text/plain'); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"$filename\""); How to just download file, without showing it on screen instead of using fwrite/fclose function? I am trying to pass a variable from inside of a function in a file that is included eg include.php Code: [Select] <? function noms(){ $foobar = "apples"; } ?> main.php Code: [Select] <? include("include.php"); noms(); echo "these ". $foobar. " are most delicious... OM NOM NOM"; ?> I am essentially using a include file for a mysql connection and based on the connection outcome i am either setting a value to true or false. It prints "Connected succesfully" and what not just fine, but, after that it wont pass on the variables data. I know its the function because, it passes the data if i put the variable before the function... i just dont get it.. any help would be great. Thanks. Ansel Hi all, I have a function that is only used in the file it is declared in : /index.php Code: [Select] /** * This function is used to display form messages. * * @param string $msg This explains login and session status . * * @access private * * @return string */ function pred($msg) { return "<p class='content' style='color:red;'> $msg</p>"; } I'm using netbeans 7.0 (which by the way rocks !!!!! ), and I don't want to be able to see the documentation in other files when I start typing something similar. I read at pear.net coding standards that the '@param private' can be used on class methods. Is there a way to make the documentation private to the file that the function is declared in? I'm simply trying not to flood other files in the project with needless function suggestions. Thanks in advance. been messing with this for half a hour cant find the right format for adding this $_GET in the action part of this form Code: [Select] <?php echo '<form name="newmessage" method="post" action='"send_message.php?goauld=".($_GET['goauld'])."";? > Is it possible to link action in the form to a function thats included from a functions file? Like so: Code: [Select] <form action="<?php add($text); ?>" > <input type="text" name="text" /> <input type="submit" /> </form> What I want to do is add a block of text to the database. The add function does that. So ideas? I have like 9 of these forms on the same page they all do different things though but all involve modify the database. I have a php contact form that works perfectly. It has a drop down list, and the forms results are emailed to the selected drop down persons email address. I want to add a Cc function to the form ... so that there is a copy, or record of all emails sent. I have a sample script that I am writing where the user inputs there name, address, etc.. and then clicks submit and it inserts into the mysql database. I have successfully done this with form action to my adduser.php file, but I would rather have a single function file with adduser, delete a user, edit a user, etc.. here is my form <form action="includes/customersfunctions.php?add" method="post"> name: <input type="text" name="name" /><br /> address: <input type="text" name="address" /><br /> city: <input type="text" name="city" /><br /> state: <input type="text" name="state" /><br /> zip: <input type="text" name="zip" /><br /> <input type="submit" /> </form> Here is my function <?php function add() { include("config.php"); mysql_query("INSERT INTO customers (name,address,city,state,zip) VALUES ('name','address','city','state','zip') ") or die(mysql_error()); echo "added"; mysql_close($con); } ?> The function will have delete, update, etc.. later Thanks for your help in advance! |
