PHP - Include A Variable Into A Href

Hello Everyone,

I'm using PHP with MySQL.  One of the fields in the database is website.  The code I'm using is as follows:

variable:

$web=mysql_result($result,$i,"web");

html/php code:

<td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a href="<? echo "$web"; ?>">Website</a></font></td>

What it should do is have the clickable word Website with the correct url from the database.  Instead it's repeating the website the page is on.  For example it's doing this:

http://mywebsite/www.enteredwebsite.com

Any help is appreciated.

I have a php page that is trying to pass a variable like this:

echo "<tr><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_id . "</td><td bgcolor='white'><a href='companyusers.php?name=" . $company_name . "'>" . $company_name . "</a></td><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_email . "</td><td bgcolor='white'>" . $company_status . "</td></tr>";

Then when some one clicks on that link they variable with it's value should go with the url and I'm trying to assign a variable like this:

$company_name = $_POST['name'];

It is not working!!! I get that "Notice: Undefined index: name in 'directory of page' on line 100"

Hi all

I am writing a code to update customer details. It all works great until I get to the last line of code that directs the user to the next page:

include ('profile-success.php');

I need it to be the following page:

profile-success.php?username=$username

Can anyone show me how to edit the line to include the url variable?

I keep getting this error:

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'profile-success.php?username=$username' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/cndvizp/public_html/prints2impress.co.uk/upload/update-profile.php on line 96

I want to include a variable (for example an object $user) in each PHP page.

Previously I declared $var in an include file then included that file in every page, however it generates an error in Zend Studio and it's also not very good programming style.

I want to know how I can do it any other way.  I was thinking of using constants but I don't know if constants should be used for this purpose and also I do not think constants can be defined as objects.

I've been trying to access xml data from an API feed, but it needs a Variable to be passed to an include file without a form. the include is at the header of the page.

in the code below, i'm trying to retrieve the variable $project_add from the $xml_2 feed. $proj_add_ID comes from another feed and is being passed ok.

The problem is the variable $job_no isn't getting passed to CURLOPT_URL so it's not retrieving the data required. i need to be able to retrieve this data without submitting a form as it's in a foreach loop and the Id is specific to each iteration. is there a way to do this? I have been able to achieve this by putting the include within the div tags that it will be displayed but it just slows down everything too much and hangs.

My catalog uses a template file to list product details.  One part of it is responsible for putting these details into nifty little tabs:

I don't want it to output $details, I want it to output a separate script instead.

How do I include this separate file as a variable? I want this:
<?php include('specs.php'); ?>
to replace the $details variable.

I am developing a page that displays info from a database based on a variable called "ID". On this page is a form that when submitted runs an external function file to first error check the form and then insert it into the database. The problem i'm having is if i include the page which had to form to display the error message on, it doesn't load the right info from the database because its not loading based on the ID.

So is there an alternative way to write:

include ("toDo.php?ID=".$ToDoID);

I am a beginner at PHP and trying to form an IF statement, I'm running into a problem which I cannot seem to solve.
Due to my lack of syntax knowledge I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

The combo variables are sent to this page through a form and defined as these variables at the top of the page.
e.g $combo0 = $_POST["combo0"];

When the results are displayed any form field which was left blank or empty I want to show "N/A" if data is detected in being sent through the form I then want the "Else" statement to take affect.

Currently when I run the below statement N/A is echoed despite if data was sent through the form fields or not....

Ok it's abit complicated so i'll try to explain as best as I can.
Upon registration a file is created with your username that was registered and also a file for your profile named after your username so it would be /profiles/usernamesprofilehere.php.

I put a code into the profile that is:

$username is calling the cookie's username
while $user is calling the account's username.

eg if I try to view "bob"'s profile but logged in as "fred" since the include function is under $username which is cookies, it will retrieve "fred"'s information and post it on "bob"'s profile.

The only sollution i can think of would be to store a username variable in the url and use it for the include function.

I've managed to find my way into something of a maze.

I'm looking at this line in the code. I realise it's currently in the wrong syntax but I'm just trying multiple different variations.

At the moment I'm actually just trying to make it go to a static link but my real goal is to - get it to pick up the id number, of the id row I click, and concatenate that with the rest of my address string. Then use that as the href. 

Something like this: -

"'Details/' + $id + '/index.php'"

It's really confusing me though inside this loop and for some reason the id number is being picked up as an int, by the looks of things. It's getting above my level of understanding. 

Any chance one of you masters would through a n00b a lifeline?

Im kinda new to this fantastic world of PHP and i have a little problem i hope you can help me with.

Im trying to build a website where I use include() to genereate my content. On my index.php i have a menu which includes
content in a content div from external .php pages, my structure kinda goes like this.. (simplified)

site/
   index.php
   content/
       fronpage.php
       products.php
       contact.php

The HTML looks like this.

This all works very fine, but my problem is, can I have a include inside an already included page?
I would like to have a menu on my products.php site, but that page is already included from above,
and i would like the menu on the products.php site to stay as the content from the nested include
changes with input from the /products folder.

my idea was something like this.

   index.php
   content/
      frontpage.php
      products.php
      contact.php
      products/
         product1.php
         product2.php


the HTML on the index.php is the same as above and then i would add the include() on the
products.php page, so its kinda the same thing, but one inside the other.

HTML inside the products.php folder

Still a new comer when it comes to PHP.

I have a situation where I want to use an include within an include and I am having trouble with my file paths.

My main header include, includes everything for each page of my site, beyond the opening of the body to incorporate my navigation etc conditionally loading in css, and loading in titles and meta data etc depending on the page in question.

This header needs to reference another include called the-pod.php which is required for every page, the only trouble is I want to use / to reference the root of the server and this is breaking my code. I can't use ../../ etc as its a different path depending on where the master file is located.

So my question is how do I get around this?

Can the root of the server or path to the root be stored in a variable? and if so how would I write this.

Any tips / advice will be greatly appreciated.
