PHP - Php Basics (help Writing An Array)
I've been using PHP includes for a while now but I've just started to try to get more advanced. (not much more)
I'm using this code to both generate my page titles and give my li tags a class of active so I can style them with css as being in a down state. All is working but I just need a more efficient way of doing this I think. I currently have Code: [Select] <?php $title = basename($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'], '.php'); if ($title == 'index') { $title = 'home'; } $title = ucfirst($title); $title = str_replace('-', ' ', $title); $title = ucwords($title); ?> Then in my unordered list I have Code: [Select] <?php if ($title == 'Product Selector'||$title == 'Kingston Range') {echo 'class="active"';} ?> I could continue to say if title = a or b or c or d etc but could I use an array to store all of these titles and check to see if the title is in the array? or is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance Similar TutorialsOk I need to write an array to a file here is the code if($place[2] < 10){ echo "Account Invalid"; $account = var_dump($account_data[$i][0]); echo $account; $fp3=fopen('invalid.txt', 'a+'); fwrite($fp3, $account); fclose($fp3);} when I try if($place[2] < 10){ echo "Account Invalid"; $account = var_dump($account_data[$i][0]); echo $account; $fp3=fopen('invalid.txt', 'a+'); fwrite($fp3, $account_data[$i][0]); fclose($fp3);} I just get "Array[1]" written to the file.. What can I do to write the array to the file? Thanks <?php $file = 'test.txt'; $lastfm = file_get_contents('http://www.last.fm/group/Rishloo/members'); preg_match_all('/id="r4_([\d]+)">/', $lastfm, $matches); file_put_contents($file, $matches[1]); sleep(100000); ?> That puts the array in a file but I need each value on a new line but it bunches it all up.. this just puts "Array" in file [php] <?php $file = 'test.txt'; $lastfm = file_get_contents('http://www.last.fm/group/Rishloo/members'); preg_match_all('/id="r4_([\d]+)">/', $lastfm, $matches); file_put_contents($file, $matches[1]."\n"); sleep(100000); ?> what do I need to do to print all of the values on a new line? Thanks I am creating a poll with a form using check boxes. The resulting associative array is evaluated and 1 is to be added to values selected. I have that part down. I want to write the associative array to a file and the next time someone uses the form the values are read from the file, values added and then write it back to a file. I thought it would be better to do it like this rather than query a db, add values, etc. Any ideas on how to do this? This is the array I want to start with: Code: [Select] $vetservice = array( "Korea"=>0, "Vietnam"=>0, "Grenada"=>0, "Cold War"=>0, "Panama"=>0, "Desert Storm"=>0, "Mogadishu"=>0, "OEF"=>0, "OIF"=>0 ); Values from the post array would be added to the starting value and wrote back to a text file. This topic has been moved to Third Party PHP Scripts. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=346993.0 Hi all, hope some can help because this is giving me more grey hairs than I allready have.
I am trying to solve the following: I'm pulling in JSON data, decoding it to a array which I write to a database. However in the array are social security numbers that I don't want to store (privacyregulations). So I need to check if a row has a social security number and if it has one I want to replace it with 'anonymized'. I have got it to work successfully on a local Xampp test environment using the following script (extract off course): //first anonymize the social security number (ssn) if exists $data = json_decode($jsondata, true);
// then fill the tables foreach($data as $row) {
$insertstatement = mysqli_query($link,"INSERT INTO $tablename (personid, type, ssn) VALUES ('".$row["personid"]."', '".$row["type"]."', '".$row["ssn"]."') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE type = VALUES(type), bsn = VALUES(ssn)");
This leads to a filled table where the ssn's are filled with 'anonymized' if they exist in the array and empty if it does not exist for that row. This is exactly what I want ;-).
Personid type ssn
However, when I run the same script on a Lamp production environment (lamp stack on an Azure server) it does not work. Then the scripts results in totally ignoring the whole row that contains a ssn??
Personid type ssn Hope someone can help to get this working on my production environment as well.

I was reading how to do some beginner stuff in PHP so this to you guys is easy right?
Why dosent the code work properly? And or am I trying stuff that is to advanced for a total noob??
this is the php code from the tutorial:
<?php I could use some help remembering how sessions and cookies work... (Looks like another thing I have forgotten about!) In one of my old scripts, I start a session using...
session_start()
And then I have...
$sessMemberID = (isset($_SESSION['sessMemberID']) ? $_SESSION['sessMemberID'] : '');
It appears my old naming conventions aren't so clear after being away for several years... In my database I have a MEMBER.id (table/column) which is just an AutoNumber, and I thought that PHP create a "Session ID" but that it was some long hexadecimal number?
So it's not clear to me what is in $sessMemberID.
I tried to look in the cookies file under my Firefox profile, but when I open it in BBEdit all i see is gibberish in that file.
Can someone please help me put these disparate parts together?
Thanks!
nothing is echoed for the second foreach??? foreach($pictures as $picture) -im breaking cause it's a large file Code: [Select] $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('accommodation.xml'); $i = 0; $accommodations = $doc->getElementsByTagName('accommodation'); foreach($accommodations as $accommodation) { if(++$i > 2) break; $supplierID = $accommodation->getElementsByTagName('code')->item(0)->nodeValue; $pictures = $accommodation->getElementsByTagName('pictures')->item(0)->nodeValue; $pictures=array(); foreach($pictures as $picture) { echo $url = $picture->getElementsByTagName('url')->item(0)->nodeValue; } }//end //XMl schema <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <accommodations> <accommodation> <code>1</code> <pictures> <picture> <url>http://example.com/images.k.jpg</url> </picture> </pictures> Could anyone point me in the right direction for downloading app store statistics from: -the Apple App Store -The Android Market -the Amazon AppStore Specifically, I'd like to get the -average selling price of apps -the top selling apps -the distribution of tablets vs. phones, etc. (e.g. how many apps are there for Honeycomb? How many for iPad?) -total number of apps in store -free vs. paid apps I've seen some sites like http://148apps.biz/app-store-metrics/ and http://www.appbrain.com/stats/ How do these sites get their data? There must be a way to export the whole app store database as a CSV file, or import it to MySQL and run queries. Thanks much for any direction. The file that is executing this code is /install and the file I'm trying to write to is /inc/config.php. I thought .. put you up a directory so if I do .. I will be at the root and then do /inc I will be in inc. Can someone please guide me on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. Greetings,
I am new to these forums, I am working on this assignment, and these are the current issues I am running into.
Notice: Undefined variable: year in G:\EasyPHP-5.3.2i\www\PHP_Projects\ChineseZodiacs\zodiac_year_switch.php on line 77
ie. $year = validateInput($year,"Birth Year");
Notice: Undefined variable: year_count in G:\EasyPHP-5.3.2i\www\PHP_Projects\ChineseZodiacs\zodiac_year_switch.php on line 138
ie. echo "<p>You are person " . $year_count . "to enter " . $year . "</p>\n";
Honestly, I believe they are linked, because what should be happening, as the user enters the year, and hits submit, it should create a file called counts/$year.txt - $year should equal the entered data in the textbox, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

Is this possible ? And can you tell me how it's done, or point me to a souce that can tell me I rarely ever ask for help regarding programming, but this has flumoxed me. If it is not possible to do this, then would I have to generate this file on the Host's server (Just Host in my case), then download it ? If this can be done then can you please tell me how, as any info I have found related to file downloads seems a bit obscure thanks in advance Greetings, I am trying to write XML using SimpleXML for a web service call. I was having success until the XML got a little more complicated. Here is the XML format where I am running into problems: Code: [Select] <Agent> <Person Last='Smith' First='John'> <Addresses /> <PhoneNumbers> <Phone Type='1' Number='888-555-1212'> </PhoneNumbers> </Person> </Agent> Here is my php: Code: [Select] $xmlOutput = new SimpleXMLElement('<?xml version="1.0"?><ReportRequest> </ReportRequest>'); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('CID','9200'); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('Diagram','1'); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('DueDate','2011-11-15'); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('NumPhotos','6'); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('InspectAfter',''); $xmlOutput->addAttribute('PolicyNumber','JTC0004425'); $reportType = $xmlOutput->addChild('ReportType'); $reportType->addAttribute('CPType','Commercial'); $reportType->addAttribute('SectionIDs',''); $reportType->addAttribute('Description',''); $reportType->addAttribute('ReportTypeID','123'); $locations = $xmlOutput->addChild('Locations')->addChild('Addresses')->addChild('Address'); $locations->addAttribute('Zip','91216'); $locations->addAttribute('City','Chatsworth'); $locations->addAttribute('Line1','123 Main St'); $locations->addAttribute('Line2','Suite 201'); $locations->addAttribute('State','CA'); $locations->addAttribute('Latitude',''); $locations->addAttribute('Longitude',''); $agent = $xmlOutput->addChild('Agent')->addChild('Person')->addChild('Addresses')->addChild('PhoneNumbers')->addChild('Phone'); $agent->addAttribute('Last','Smith'); $agent->addAttribute('Email',''); $agent->addAttribute('First','John'); $agent->addAttribute('Title',''); $agent->addAttribute('Type','1'); $agent->addAttribute('Number','888-555-1212'); $agent->addAttribute('TypeName','Office'); $agent->addAttribute('Extension',''); Header('Content-type: text/xml'); echo $xmlOutput->asXML(); Everything outputs as it should until the line that starts with $agent. I want the output to match the section above. I have tried several variations but I cannot seem to figure it out. I know the current PHP sample doesn't work. Help?? Thanks in advance, John Hi everyone. Still new to PHP and to Object-Oriented Programming. My goal for today is to write a few dummy Classes in PHP that do enough so that I can see something on my webpage. I am wondering if there is someone here who would be willing to help in either the forums or one-on-one. It may sound like a silly request, but this is all new to me as a Procedural Programmer who has actively programmed in about 10 years!! Thanks, TomTees Hey Guys. I am trying to write to the file depending on which condition is met. The code works fine on my local machiene but not on my remote server.
