PHP - Dynamic Image Script That Handles Text Wrapping?
I am looking for a dynamic image script that handles word wrapping and possible font resizing.
Basically, I have a dimensions, a font and a company name. So, lets say I am trying to make a 300x300 image for Bob's Boats in verdana. I want a script that not only creates the image, but tries to use up the available space (putting each word on a line, using a large font, horizontally and vertically aligning everything) Worst case I'll write my own, but the algorithm seems pretty complex. For example, lets say the companies name was: Chocolates in a Basket, it could be: Chocolates in a Basket Or: Chocolates in a Basket But never: Chocolates in a Basket Worst case, I might make it so that it supports 3 lines, but only ever puts the company name on 2 by default, and if the user wants to manually change it, they can. Even that isn't perfect though, because if the dimensions are something like 300x35, you wouldn't want a second line, let alone a 3rd. Similar TutorialsFolks, I need help (Php code ) to generate a Dynamic Text on a Base Image. What i want to do is, to make this Image as header on my Site and to make this Header Specific to a Site, i want to Add the Domain Name on the Lower Left of the Image. Got the Idea? Here is the Image link: Quote http://img27.imageshack.us/i/shoppingheader1.jpg/ PHP Variable that holds the Domain name is: $domain All i need the Dynamic PHP Codes that i can put on all my sites to generate this Text on Image (Header) Dynamically... May Anyone Help me with this Please? Cheers Natasha T. Hi there, I know that php does not recognize onMouseOver events. however, Im wondering if their is a tricky way to get a javascript response from dynamic text. I am working on a nav menu in a wordpress site. wordpress has a function that displays a list of pages created in the admin. I want to be able to display a secondary list of pages when a top-level nav item is moused over. heres the code: <div id="top"> <script type="text/javascript"> function Show(who) { Clear(); divel=document.getElementById("drop"+who); divel.style.display="inline"; divel=document.getElementById("hn"+who); divel.className="selected"; } function Hide(who) { divel=document.getElementById("drop"+who); divel.style.display="none"; divel=document.getElementById("hn"+who); divel.className=""; } function Clear() { for (i=1;i<=3;i++) { divel=document.getElementById("drop"+i); divel.style.display="none"; divel=document.getElementById("hn"+i); divel.className=""; } } </script> <div id="home-nav" onMouseOut="Clear();"> <ul> <li id="hn1"><a href="wp_demo/profile" onMouseOver="Show('1')"><?php wp_list_pages(include=4&title_li=' ); ?></a></li> <li id="hn2"><a href="wp_demo/services" onMouseOver="Show('2')"><?php wp_list_pages( 'include=6&title_li=' ); ?></a></li> <li id="hn3"><a href="wp_demo/portfolio" onMouseOver="Show('3')"><?php wp_list_pages( 'include=8&title_li=' ); ?></a></li> <li id="hn4"><a href="wp_demo/contact" onMouseOver="Clear();"><?php wp_list_pages( 'include=12&title_li=' ); ?></a></li> <li id="hn5"><a href="wp_demo/hospitality" onMouseOver="Clear();"><?php wp_list_pages( 'include=10&title_li=' ); ?></a></li> </ul> </div> <!-- #homenav --> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="drop1" onMouseOver="Show('1')" onMouseOut="Hide('1')"> <img src="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/blank.gif" alt="" width="960" height="8" border="0" /><br /> <div id="menu1"><ul> <?php wp_list_pages( 'child_of=4&sort_column=menu_order&title_li=' ); ?> </ul></div></div> <div id="drop2" onMouseOver="Show('2')" onMouseOut="Hide('2')"> <img src="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/blank.gif" alt="" width="960" height="8" border="0" /><br /> <div id="menu2"><ul> <?php wp_list_pages( 'child_of=6&sort_column=menu_order&title_li=' ); ?> </ul></div></div> <div id="drop3" onMouseOver="Show('3')" onMouseOut="Hide('3')"> <img src="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/blank.gif" alt="" width="960" height="8" border="0" /><br /> <div id="menu3"><ul> <?php wp_list_pages( 'child_of=8&sort_column=menu_order&title_li=' ); ?> </ul></div></div> Does anybody know a trick to get the dynamic text to be seen by the javascript? for example, if i put a inside the anchor tags before the php script starts, the onmouseover will register it, and display the secondary nav. I would place invisible divs with links on top of the dynamic text with z-index, but I want the text to be completely dynamic and the client to be able to add as many links as he/she wants. thanks! Hi there, I have a simple question - is it possible to send out an html email containing PHP/MySQL code so that when the user receives the email it checks the date and serves up content from a database? I have created a page that works fine online, but when I try to email the page, it doesn't work from within the user's email client (such as outlook, or gmail). When I look at the raw email source, it looks like the PHP code isn't getting executed by the email program. If anyone knows a reason or workaround, I would appreciate it! Thanks in advance, Rick Code: [Select] <?php $day = date("Y-m-d"); // Connects to your Database mysql_connect("empowermentoftheday.com", "username", "password") or die(mysql_error()) ; mysql_select_db("etd_emails") or die(mysql_error()) ; if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) { function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "") { $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue; $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue); switch ($theType) { case "text": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? I did it this way because I want to have two versions of text, the light version and the bold version. Is it possible to have two different fonts with just one textarea of text? Right now I have two functions: Quote ImageTTFText($image, $fontSize, $fontRotation, 435, 80, $color, $font1, wordwrap($first, 18, "\n", true)); ImageTTFText($image, $fontSize, $fontRotation, 485,120, $color_black, $font2, wordwrap($last, 18, "\n", true)); So I would limit that to just 1, and it would automatically wordwrap but what would I put for the $font variable? Is this even possible? I was thinking of just using BBCode so they could type in [b*]Bold Text[/b*] and it would use the Bold version of the font if it sees that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Here is the full code: Quote <?php $first = $_GET['first']; $last = $_GET['last']; $font_color = $_GET['color']; header("Content-type: image/png"); $image = imagecreatefrompng ( "banner_blank.png" ); $color_black = imagecolorallocate($image, 0, 0, 0); $color_red = imagecolorallocate($image, 255, 0, 0); if($font_color == "Red") { $color = $color_red; } elseif($font_color == "Black") { $color = $color_black; } $font1 = 'HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdEx.ttf'; $font2 = 'HelveticaNeueLTStd-LtEx.ttf'; $fontSize = "21"; ImageTTFText($image, $fontSize, $fontRotation, 435, 80, $color, $font1, wordwrap($first, 18, "\n", true)); ImageTTFText($image, $fontSize, $fontRotation, 485,120, $color_black, $font2, wordwrap($last, 18, "\n", true)); imagepng ( $image ); imagedestroy ( $image ); ?> I am trying to wrap a string with an anchor tag if it finds a match with a block of text. Here is an example text block: CONOCO 1'10x8 VC DF TP SGN||PRINCIPAL ILLUMINATION||ENG: CO3028TP_0VPR||DWG: CO200428||TO BE: DYED DIESEL (SPEC)|| The string I would want to wrap with a link would be "CO200428". The next problem is the drawings (what I'm searching the text for) has over 115,000 possibilities. The text blocks to search are over 1300. I have the drawing names stored in a simple mysql table...but doing a foreach takes forever...I imagine it will take even longer when looking in the text blocks... Is there a way to easily to do the anchor wrap? I don't know regex very well... So its a virtual pet script I'm making. This script changes the image of the pet with time. It also puts the user's name,in text on the image. This question has been asked almost exactly: Ok. I am asking some basic type questions I guess!
When you open a file with a filehandle, is it safe to use the same file handle a couple times in a script, for different files, assuming one is closed before the other opened?
I use $fh a lot in my scripts, and wonder if this is bad practice? I copy and paste code quite often to speed up my writing, and retain this filehandle usually.
Hello, I am fairly new at php (have been using HTML/CSS for a while but recently learned the php basics). I am building a website to allow clients to schedule through multiple massage therapists and I am struggling with the basic beginings of a scheduler scripts. If someone can point me towards a tutorial or script that would be great, or answer any of the following questions: 1. What would be the best way to store each therapists weekly schedule (based on monday-sunday with start and end times) and propagate that info. to every day that a client might schedule on? 2. How do i get the day of the week based on the date? 3. How do i display a calendar that lets them choose the date? Well the subject line is pretty explicit. I found this script that uploads a picture onto a folder on the server called images, then inserts the the path of the image on the images folder onto a VACHAR field in a database table. Code: [Select] <?php //This file inserts the main image into the images table. //address error handling ini_set ('display_errors', 1); error_reporting (E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE); //authenticate user //Start session session_start(); //Connect to database require ('config.php'); //Check whether the session variable id is present or not. If not, deny access. if(!isset($_SESSION['id']) || (trim($_SESSION['id']) == '')) { header("location: access_denied.php"); exit(); } else{ // Check to see if the type of file uploaded is a valid image type function is_valid_type($file) { // This is an array that holds all the valid image MIME types $valid_types = array("image/jpg", "image/jpeg", "image/bmp", "image/gif"); if (in_array($file['type'], $valid_types)) return 1; return 0; } // Just a short function that prints out the contents of an array in a manner that's easy to read // I used this function during debugging but it serves no purpose at run time for this example function showContents($array) { echo "<pre>"; print_r($array); echo "</pre>"; } // Set some constants // This variable is the path to the image folder where all the images are going to be stored // Note that there is a trailing forward slash $TARGET_PATH = "images/"; // Get our POSTed variable $image = $_FILES['image']; // Sanitize our input $image['name'] = mysql_real_escape_string($image['name']); // Build our target path full string. This is where the file will be moved to // i.e. images/picture.jpg $TARGET_PATH .= $image['name']; // Make sure all the fields from the form have inputs if ( $image['name'] == "" ) { $_SESSION['error'] = "All fields are required"; header("Location: member.php"); exit; } // Check to make sure that our file is actually an image // You check the file type instead of the extension because the extension can easily be faked if (!is_valid_type($image)) { $_SESSION['error'] = "You must upload a jpeg, gif, or bmp"; header("Location: member.php"); exit; } // Here we check to see if a file with that name already exists // You could get past filename problems by appending a timestamp to the filename and then continuing if (file_exists($TARGET_PATH)) { $_SESSION['error'] = "A file with that name already exists"; header("Location: member.php"); exit; } // Lets attempt to move the file from its temporary directory to its new home if (move_uploaded_file($image['tmp_name'], $TARGET_PATH)) { // NOTE: This is where a lot of people make mistakes. // We are *not* putting the image into the database; we are putting a reference to the file's location on the server $sql = "insert into images (member_id, image_cartegory, image_date, image) values ('{$_SESSION['id']}', 'main', NOW(), '" . $image['name'] . "')"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die ("Could not insert data into DB: " . mysql_error()); header("Location: images.php"); echo "File uploaded"; exit; } else { // A common cause of file moving failures is because of bad permissions on the directory attempting to be written to // Make sure you chmod the directory to be writeable $_SESSION['error'] = "Could not upload file. Check read/write persmissions on the directory"; header("Location: member.php"); exit; } } //End of if session variable id is not present. ?> The script seems to work fine because I managed to upload a picture which was successfully inserted into my images folder and into the database. Now the problem is, I can't figure out exactly how to write the script that displays the image on an html page. I used the following script which didn't work. Code: [Select] //authenticate user //Start session session_start(); //Connect to database require ('config.php'); $sql = mysql_query("SELECT* FROM images WHERE member_id = '".$_SESSION['id']."' AND image_cartegory = 'main' "); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($sql); $imagebytes = $row['image']; header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); print $imagebytes; Seems to me like I need to alter some variables to match the variables used in the insert script, just can't figure out which. Can anyone help?? Hi All, i am trying to Generate a image dynamically. Up to here i am able to do it . But when i give any echo statement with this its not working.. Here is my code pls help me in this <?php // Create a 55x30 image $im = imagecreatetruecolor(79, 79); $unknow = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 255, 255); $white = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255); // Draw a white rectangle imagefilledrectangle($im, 4, 4, 75, 25, $unknow); imagefilledrectangle($im, 4, 29, 75, 50, $unknow); imagefilledrectangle($im, 4, 54, 75, 75, $unknow); // Save the image echo 'hi hello'; header("Content-type: image/png"); //imagepng($im, './imagefilledrectangle.png'); imagepng($im); imagedestroy($im); ?> Thanks in advance. Hello, I'm working on a dynamic text form (I guess thats what its called). Basically, I have a html page that echos in some PHP code. What the PHP code does is show different strings of text depending on a variable: Code: [Select] <PHP? $brief1_info = "brief info goes here"; $brief1 = 0; if (isset($_POST['brief1Go'])) { $brief1 = $brief1 + 1; } else if (isset($_POST['brief1Back'])) { $brief1 = $brief1 - 1; } $breif1Controller = " <form action=\"".$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']."\" method=\"post\"> <input type=\"submit\" name=\"brief1Back\" id=\"brief1Back\" value=\"BACK\" /> </form> <form action=\"".$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']."\" method=\"post\"> <input type=\"submit\" name=\"brief1Go\" id=\"brief1Go\" value=\"CONTINUE\" /> </form>"; if($brief1 == 0){ $brief1_info = "<b>Welcome Commander,</b> you are currently viewing the Mission Control Brief page, here you can view all your missions that you need to complete in order to advance through your prestiges. You will need to follow your briefs carefully in order to succeed. <br /><br /> "; } else if($brief1 == 1){ $brief1_info = "Okay, let me show you around the place ..."; } else if($brief1 == 2){ $brief1_info = "brief is on 2"; } ?> The problem is, the BACK and CONTINUE buttons don't work. If $brief1 equals 0, and the user presses continue, the is should go to 1, and the brief1_info string is changed (so some different text shows in my html). It actually works when brief1 is on '0', but when its on 1 and the user pressed continue, the brief1 is changed to 1, but because the submit button refreshes the page, the variable is re-read again, and thus is reset back to 0. Is there a way around this? Or is there a better method than what I'm doing? Thanks I have a form that you can add email boxes and recipients to. when you add the boxes it actually submits. I did it this way to change the session that determines how many boxes you get. The problem is if I (as a web user) have entered X number of emails and recipients then submit to add another set of text fields then how can I keep the 3 already entered populated? <?php $start = $_SESSION['NOCStart']; $stop = $_SESSION['NOCStop']; for($m = $start; $m < $stop; $m++){ echo " <tr> <td>$m: <input id='text' type='text' name='invEmail[]' value='WHATS GOES HERE??' /></td> <td><input id='text' type='text' name='invName[]' value='WHATS GOES HERE??' /></td> </tr> "; } ?> The submitted info is captured with the following code: For testing it simply outputs the info... if (isset($_SESSION['NOC']) && $current_page == "invitations.php"){ if(isset($_POST['addemail'])){ $impEmail = implode(",", $_POST['invEmail']); $expEmail = explode(",", $impEmail); $impName = implode(",", $_POST['invName']); $expName = explode(",", $impName); $sendit = array_combine($expEmail, $expName); foreach ($sendit as $key => $value) { echo "$key belongs to $value<br />\n"; } if ($_SESSION['NOCStop'] == $_SESSION['NOC'] + 1){ $message = "<script>alert('Max Emails Reached')</script>"; }else{ $_SESSION['NOCStart'] = 1; $_SESSION['NOCStop'] = $_SESSION['NOCStop'] + 1; } }else{ $stopper = $_SESSION['NOC'] * .5; $rounder = round($stopper) + 1; $_SESSION['NOCStart'] = 1; $_SESSION['NOCStop'] = $rounder; } } Thank you for your help! I wrote this basic script yesterday to process and generate a Google Site Map. And it works! BUT I want to advance this script to accommodate for something else and I don't know the correct path to take from here, but I will tell you what I've found out so far.. Current Situation: 1 - Currently my below script generates urls in the site map like: http://abcdefg.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29826 2 - I have .htaccess configured to rewrite the urls to the products name data like: http://abcdefg.com/pennies/wheat-pennies/lincoln-wheat-penny-cent.html (just an example) and these urls are ONLY active if clicking on the site links themselves - meaning if I enter: http://abcdefg.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29826 directly into the url, the url does not resolve to this natural friendly url name. What Id like to achieve (which I don't know what direction I should be looking!): - I'd like my xml output urls (as current) to be written in the natural format (as in #2 above). FYI here is a current example output item in my sitemap: Code: [Select] <url> <loc>http://abcdefg.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29803</loc> <changefreq>weekly</changefreq> <lastmod>2010-09-24T08:00:00+04:00</lastmod> </url> Can anyone give me some guidance on what method might work for this? Do you think it's more a mod_rewrite issue? Or can this be handled easier with straight up modifications to my below? I'm just a bit confused on what direction I should be looking.. Thanks for any input. <?php header("Content-Type: text/xml;charset=iso-8859-1"); echo '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">'; //include('config.local.php'); $cxn = mysqli_connect($config['db_host'], $config['db_user'], $config['db_password'], $config['db_name']); $query = "SELECT cscart_product_descriptions.product_id, cscart_products.product_id, cscart_products.timestamp FROM cscart_product_descriptions JOIN cscart_products ON cscart_product_descriptions.product_id = cscart_products.product_id WHERE cscart_products.status='A' LIMIT 10000"; $result = mysqli_query($cxn, $query); $row = mysqli_fetch_array($result); while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { $formatedTime = $row['timestamp']; echo '<url> <loc>http://abcdefg.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=' . $row['product_id'] . '</loc> <changefreq>weekly</changefreq> <lastmod>'. date('c',$formatedTime) .'</lastmod> </url>'; } //while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) echo '</urlset>'; ?> This topic has been moved to Third Party PHP Scripts. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=349729.0 I am not very advanced in web programming I need help..
I am using an API and my sql database. I would to implement live/ dynamic updates in the text field where user will input their text, and the web should first check the database then the api live. I would also like to retrieve the user input without refreshing the page, so the retrieved information regarding the inputted text should be automatically loaded without refreshing the page.
please help .
I want to add some text between dynamic text like in newspapers but i don't know how to do that. Please keep in mind, im a newbi at php as well as these forums, and I just started using it this week. I have some background in C programing and know a little VB. I am currently trying to make a php based webpage that has 5 different images on it. I want each image to change with respect to what is written in a text file within the server space. So to better explain this, I have a text file that is named "status.txt". status.txt contents: active inactive active active active I want the first image to change to a different image if I change the first line of the text file to be inactive instead of active and the 2nd image to change if I change the 2nd line (inactive) to active and so forth on all the other images. I do know that i need to open the file, then read the file with fopen and fread and set what the contents that i read from the file equal to some variable (still not 100% sure im using the functions right). but im not sure how to set up the code so the image will change with respect to what is read from the text aka what the variable is equal too. I thought it would be a simple if statement but it seems more complicated then that. and futhermore, im not sure where to place the open file, should i do this in the header? so every time website refreshes, is opens the file and reads the txt file and changes with respect to that? Any help would be great! Thank you in advance. Hi, i am creating a web application, and i would like some help/advise on how to tackle a problem. I need to make an image i have into a contact form, with four fields, which basically posts information into a database. I am not sure how i would go about doing this as i will need to make each of the fields dynamic to post the data. I have attached the image to make my point a bit clearer. thanks What I am working on is a background to a user input comment -- essentially a framed box around the comment. For some reason I cannot fathom but which is probably simple, I can't get the image height variable, (set by the length of the comment) to be seen by the code outputting the framed box. So here's what I got: To set the image position and height variables I put this code inside of a while loop, since there are multiple comments in the DB: Code: [Select] //Looks at the comment in the DB //Calculates the number of lines based on 75 characters per line $line_count = ceil(strlen($row3['comment'] /75)); //This sets the position of the username who posted the comment $username_pos = ($text_pos + ($line_count * 33)) . ".00pt"; //Sets the initial starting position of the framed box on the page $box_pos = $text_pos - 42.00 . ".00pt"; //Sets the height of the framed box $box_ht = $username_pos + 50 . ".00pt"; //Outputs the framed box echo "<img src='images/blue table.gif' style='position:absolute; left:140.00pt; top:$box_pos'; height:$box_ht'; width = 570.00pt; z-index:-1 class='cc01'>"; There is also code outputting the comment and username which seems to work just fine. The result is a pretty box framing the comment, but the outputted image always ends up with the same height, which obviously doesn't work because each comment in the DB can have a different number of lines and would need a different size box. Just to be clear, the source image is much larger than what can be produced by this code. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! |
