PHP - Connecting To Two Mysql Databases Simultaneously
is it possible to have two open connections to two different mysql dbs at the same time? when i tried it, only the one on the bottom of the list was active.
my config file looks like this: //---------------------------------------------// $dbname = 'xxx'; # Database Name $dbuser = 'xxx'; # Database Username $dbpass = 'xxx'; # Database Password $dbhost = 'xxx'; # Database Host $conn2 = mysql_connect($dbhost,$dbuser,$dbpass) or die ("Could not connect to $dbname: ".mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($dbname) or die ("Could not access the database: ".mysql_error()); $dbname5 = 'yyy'; # Database Name $dbuser5 = 'yyy'; # Database Username $dbpass5 = 'yyy'; # Database Password $dbhost5 = 'yyy'; # Database Host $conn = mysql_connect($dbhost5,$dbuser5,$dbpass5) or die ("Could not connect to $dbname5: ".mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($dbname5) or die ("Could not access the database: ".mysql_error()); //--------------------------------------// so i want to be able to do mysql_query($query,$conn2) when i need to access xxx db, but it doesn't seem to work that way. am i doing something incorrectly? any help would be greatly appreciated. Similar TutorialsDear All, I am having 2 different DB on 2 different hosts. I am running MySQL Server on my local PC where the user is entering data in the tables. I have a website which has the identical DB on the web. I am able to connect to the database by using the codes on the server. I want to update the server DB with the local system DB by running one update command. I get the error "-SELECT command denied to user 'localusername'@'localhost' for table 'pst_data'" Given below is the code used for the process : //connecting the remote system DB $link = mysql_connect('IPAddress:3306', 'remoteusername', 'Password'); if (!$link) { die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error()); } $db_selected = mysql_select_db('remotedb', $link); if (!$db_selected) { die ('Can\'t use Remote System DB: ' . mysql_error()); } //connecting the local database on the webstite $weblink = mysql_connect("localhost","localusername","password"); if (!$weblink) { die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error()); } $webdb_selected = mysql_select_db('localwebdb', $weblink); if (!$webdb_selected) { die ('Can\'t use WebServer Database : ' . mysql_error()); } //query to fetch the records from remote ystem and insert into local website database $upd_Query=mysql_query("INSERT INTO localwebdb.`table` SELECT * FROM remotedb.`table` where field=' some condition' "); --------------------------------------------------- I have tested that I have connected the remote DB by running queries on the webserver. Could anyone bail me out so that i can copy the DB from remote to local Any help would be appreciated Hello again guys! What if i have 2 databases, db1 and db2. i want to read raw data from db1 and match it's content with data from db2, then produce some information. How can i do it at the same time? I know that to be able to access mysql data, we have to use the mysql_connect() and mysql_select_db(). mysql_select_db() only allows to connect to single database. what should i do? thanks for your help in advance. Hello, I'm using this code in a php file to connect to 2 databases (something that I need to do): $conn_local = mysql_connect('localhost','root','',TRUE); $conn_local2 = mysql_connect('localhost','root',''); mysql_select_db('db1',$conn_local); mysql_select_db('db2',$conn_local2); I'm then trying to use this code to call it from the 1st Database: $sql = "SELECT * FROM news_items ORDER BY news_date DESC LIMIT 0,$limit"; $result = mysql_query($sql,$conn_local); if(mysql_num_rows($result)!=0){ while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) ...etc Although I am getting this error: Quote Warning: mysql_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in C:\xampp\htdocs\test\includes\function.php on line 17 If I ONLY include the 1 database and don't bother putting the ',$conn_local' into the mysql_query it will work fine and return the records needed. It only seems to be when I try and include more than 1 database. Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thanks. This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=322398.0 hi all, I am trying to link 2 mysql tables and display some information from each of them. I have a list of all the possible items for sale in table1 and I am trying to count the number of rows in the other table2 where the items exist. E.g. 'table1' manufacturer model man1 item1 man1 item2 man1 item3 'table2' id model 1 item3 2 item3 3 item2 And the result would show: item1(0) item2(1) item3(2) It would list all the items from table1 and show next to it how many rows are related to that item from table2. I have inserted a quote where I have tried many times to enter something similar to that show in the note below - but I can not get it to work - it just shows the total number of models in table1 for a given manufacturer. The php I have made so far is: <?php case 'manufacturer': $query = " SELECT * FROM table1"; $query .= " WHERE manufacturer = '".$data."' "; $query .= " ORDER BY model "; $result = mysqli_query($cxn,$query); $returnData[''] = "Select a Model..."; while($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($result)){ // I THINK I NEED TO INSERT SOMETHING LIKE $query2 = "SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE model = table1.model"; $k=$row['model']; $k2=$row2['model']; $counter[$k]+=1; $returnData[$k]=$k; } foreach($counter as $k => $row) { $returnData[$k] .= " ($row)"; } break; ?> I want to create a text file based blog ( not using MySQL or other databases). I have tried to google for tutorials but I couldn't find anything. is there anyone who can help me and give me some tips? is there any tutorials about this because I found nothing? Any good books? This is an assignment that I have to do and I am using this book: Spring into PHP 5 by Addison Wesley. I am a newbie in php and really want to do this because this is my last task and I really want to learn. So I'm grateful if anyone can help me. I would like some tips on how to create a monthly archive for my weblog. I am not using MySQL or any databases. Everything is saved on file. any tips or tutorials? Thanks So I'm currently watching this tutorial : http://youtu.be/9E0s4gsUeU0 And am trying to build the sample application shown there. However I do seem to run into some problems, so if someone could take the time to help me out; I would be very grateful! --- The application is a simple HTML form, which takes the data input and stores it into a MySQL database table. Hi I have been getting to know PHP OOP concepts, and I started trying by writing a class and handful of functions to connect to the database and retrieve the information from the tables. I went through previous posts having similar titles, but most of them have written using mysql functions and I am using mysqli functions. I want somebody to through this simple script and let me know where the mistake is. This is my class.connect.php: Code: [Select] <?php class mySQL{ var $host; var $username; var $password; var $database; public $dbc; public function connect($set_host, $set_username, $set_password, $set_database) { $this->host = $set_host; $this->username = $set_username; $this->password = $set_password; $this->database = $set_database; $this->dbc = mysqli_connect($this->host, $this->username, $this->password, $this->database) or die('Error connecting to DB'); } public function query($sql) { return mysqli_query($this->dbc, $sql) or or die('Error:'.mysqli_error($this->dbc).', query: '.$sql); } public function fetch($sql) { $array = mysqli_fetch_array($this->query($sql)); return $array; } public function close() { return mysqli_close($this->dbc); } } ?> This is my index.php: Code: [Select] <?php require_once ("class.connect.php"); $connection = new mySQL(); $connection->connect('localhost', 'myDB', 'joker', 'names_list'); $myquery = "SELECT * FROM list"; $query = $connection->query($myquery); while($array = $connection->fetch($query)) { echo $array['first_name'] . '
'; echo $array['last_name'] . '
'; } $connection->close(); ?> I am getting a error message "Error:You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '1' at line 1, query: 1" Any idea why this is happening? Thanks So, I feel like I am running up against some beginner's problem. So I am hoping this should be an easy fix. I have had a bit of trouble finding the right search terms to find a fix for this, so I am sorry ahead of time if there is already a post on this, please point me towards it. I am running PHP 4.4.9 and MySQL client API 4.1.22, in case that is of use. I can get the following to work and provide the appropriate output. Note in this first case that the connection info is in the same file as the call to it. <?php // set database access information define ('DB_USER', "*****"); define ('DB_PASSWORD', "*****"); define ('DB_HOST', "localhost"); define ('DB_NAME', "content"); // database connection protocol $dbc = mysql_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD) or die ('Could not connect to MySQL: Error #' . mysql_errno() . ' - ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db (DB_NAME) or die ('Could not connect to MySQL: Error #' . mysql_errno() . ' - ' . mysql_error()); $query = "SELECT content_element_title FROM content_main"; $result = mysql_query ($query); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array ($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { echo ("
" . $row[content_element_title] . "
"); } unset($dbc); ?> My problem is, however, that when I separate the connection info into a separate file, I have been having problems. I think I got past the method calling the connection info not being able to see it, but now it isn't returning anything - should be returning "
" . $row[content_element_title] . "
", for which there are three rows in the db. Here is what the two files look like separated: kinnect.php <?php // set database access information define ('DB_USER', '*****'); define ('DB_PASSWORD', '*****'); define ('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); define ('DB_NAME', 'content'); //// database connection protocol $dbc = mysql_connect (DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD) or die ('Could not connect to MySQL: Error #' . mysql_errno() . ' - ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db (DB_NAME, $dbc) or die ('Could not connect to MySQL: Error #' . mysql_errno() . ' - ' . mysql_error()); ?> file.php <?php require_once ("correctpathto/kinnect.php"); $query = "SELECT content_element_title FROM content_main"; $result = mysql_query ($query, $dbc); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array ($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { echo ("
" . $row[content_element_title] . "
"); } unset($dbc); ?> So what am I doing wrong? I am getting these error messages now. Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /Users/max/Sites/rdbase-llc/preliminary/connecttroubleshoot.php on line 18 Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /Users/max/Sites/rdbase-llc/preliminary/connecttroubleshoot.php on line 20 Thanks ahead of time for any help! Hey there,
First time using MySQL database to connect to a member login. I have a paid subscription site through ccbill which they add the username and logins to. I have setup a database, username and password as well as a table that I have connected correctly "I believe" to my website but get this message: warning: MySQL-fetch_array()expects parameter 1 to be resource, Boolean given in /home....
My table I have setup just has username and password to authenticate the users, which I was told by ccbill is all I need. Maybe I need authentication 1 or 0 etc.
Any help on this would be amazing. Spent hours trying to figure this out but nothing.
Thanks for your time.

Hello, Greetings! I have php application for restaurant, basically there are two types of orders Kitchen Items and Bar items. A cashier enters a order from customers from computer A (say). We have two computers in kitchen, Computer B and in Bar, Computer C. When cashier from computer A clicks a button, depending upon the order type i need to print a chit on Computer B and/or Computer C. COmputer A, B, C are in same network. All computers have laser printer which can print any type of content. Well i tried to search the forum, i couldn't find anything that would be of my help. Can anyone tell me what would be the starting point for this?? Thanks watsmyname I'm trying to create a simple search engine bot and have found the biggest issue is that of performance, it takes several hours to index all the links and ideally I need to run it once a day, the bottleneck occurs when pulling the data from the remote urls in terms of network transfer time. This could obviously be reduced massively if I could read from several url's simultaneously. Does anyone know how I could do this. I'm aware that in PHP5 there is thread functionality which may solve the problem but this is only available from the CLI. I heard that it could be done with CURL without having to go down the threaded route, does anyone know how nthis can be done or know of any examples on the net that I could look at? As a cheeky follow up, I was also thinking a potential problem could be the script getting out of hand and opening too many connections and I don't to cause a DOS attack! Is there a way that the number of connections could be limited to 10 for example. Is there a way of detecting when a CURL connection has finished reading a file so that a connection manager class could then start the next connection asap? Thanks for any helpn people, I've been looking for this stuff for days!! |
