PHP - File_get_contents() What To Do If Url Not Respond?
Hello, is this ok to do? or should I add in some type of fail safe in case for some reason the server is down etc? If so, how?

I am hoping to get some help with this. I want to apologize in advance as I am not a developer more of a systems admin guy. Okay guys, here is the deal. My boss has a website, which uses from my understanding Wordpress for design, but also uses PHP. Since, I am not too familiar with the general uses of PHP, I cannot explain why they are doing it that way. The website also uses MYSQL, which I would imagine works with PHP to gather data from some back end server.
The website has five tabs on the top right corner

When you hover over these five tabs they expand and show more menus. The tab with the issue is the services tab. When you hover over it, it works as anticipated; it expands and shows our services. Upon getting on there, there are a bunch of services, which you can click on. When you first click, it works as anticipated. However, if you try to click on another service within that category, it simply does not load the page. Now if you decide to go into a different service it works, but once you try to click on another services within x category it just does not work.
I would really appreciate everyone's help on this. It would be nice to get this resolve.

Hi guys, I have a very simple php script that's supposed to work but doesn't. The script looks like this... <?php $response = file_get_contents("http://localhost:8090/MyWebApp/MyServlet", false, NULL) echo $response ?> which seems to return nothing. This is supposed to call a java servlet on the local machine. However, the servlet does not get called (I put a breakpoint in the servlet so I'd know if it were called). When I navigate to this php from a web browser, I get back an empty page (as if there's an error or something). However, if I change the above line to use http://www.google.com as the URL, it works (I can hit the php page from my browser and get back a google-looking page, minus some pictures and what not). For some reason, the call to a localhost URL does not seem to work, even though the servlet is, in fact, running. I have tested this by calling "curl http://localhost:8090/MyWebApp/MyServlet" from my linux terminal and correctly getting the servlet response. Does anyone know why this does not work in PHP? I've been researching and have found that both file_get_contents or iframes could do the job. I briefly attempted iframes src=x but after loading, the web page takes over the browser and the title section disappears. Can I use file_get_contents to display the web page as it's written below the title section? I've seen someone mention using a DIV for it. Could someone provide some guidance?
