PHP - Php Script Sending Blank Info To Mysql Database
Hi there,
I am using this code to send the users email address to the database. That works fine, but i keep getting blank info added to the database. Does anyone know how i can stop this? <?php $con = mysql_connect("*","*","*"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("ogs_mailinglist1", $con); $sql="INSERT INTO mailinglist (email) VALUES ('$_POST[rec_email]')"; if (!mysql_query($sql,$con)) { die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_close($con); ?> Thanks, Similar TutorialsHi Im having some trouble implementing info into a database Hi there. I have this simple code which displays 5 results. How can i grab each element separately instead of displaying all the results at once. Thanks:) Code: [Select] <?php $query = mysql_query("SELECT product_name, product_price FROM products WHERE product_type = 'laptop' LIMIT 5"); $numrows = mysql_num_rows($query); if ($numrows != 0) { while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $product_name = $row['product_name']; $product_price = $row['product_price']; echo $product_name . '<br />'; echo $product_price . '<br /><br />'; } } ?> Hi, I have a website where users can log on and edit their profile pic, name, biography etc. I was wondering about the correct way to:- Add data to the database through forms (Register.php) Display the data on a page Using mysql escape sting, however, the way I am currently using will display a '\' before any ' symbol. So it's >> it\'s ... Here is a snippet of the code I am using... Code: [Select] //insert data $about1 = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['about']); //get $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `staff` WHERE username='$username'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($query); $about = $row['about']; echo $about; well I know the standard way of retrieving mysql data was through the following codes: Code: [Select] $query = "SELECT * FROM {$tablename} WHERE columnmame = '{$var}'"; $result = mysql_query($query); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); This will return all properties inside a table row by an associative array indexed by column names. I am, however, wondering if there is an easier way to retrieve database info from more than one table. For now, what I am doing is: Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query( "SELECT * FROM {$tablename} WHERE columnmame = '{$var}'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $result2 = mysql_query( "SELECT * FROM {$tablename2} WHERE columnmame2 = '{$var2}'"); $row2 = mysql_fetch_array($result2); which is a bit tedious and can cause problems when two or more coders work on the same project(it will be difficult to tell what is $row1, $row2 and $row3...). Is there away to write a simpler code than the one above? I mean, if it is possible to run mysql_fetch_array only once and retrieve database info from multiple tables? Hi all, I have made some code based on following online youtube video for making a HTML form send to mySQL database via PHP: https://youtu.be/qm4Eih_2p-M The form I am making is hopefully going to help in the Hospital at which I work to speed patient referrals, so I am very keen on making it work. I have made the HTML form and the database, which I do not think are the problem. When I click 'Submit' on my HTML form, then my php file comes up with all the code written, rather than the message: "New referral sent succesfully". Additionally, when I check the database via 'MyPHPAdmin' there is no data added to the database I have made.
I have been using Sublime and have spotted some mistakes here and there, but is there something glaringly obvious that I am doing wrong in my code that is stopping my form being sent to the database? <?php $patientname = | $_POST['patientname']; $hospitalnumber = | $_POST['hospitalnumber']; $DoB = | $_POST['DoB']; $specialty = | $_POST['specialty']; $otherspecialty = | $_POST['otherspecialty']; $admissiondate = | $_POST['admissiondate']; $referring = | $_POST['referring']; $bleep = | $_POST['bleep']; $Admission = | $_POST['Admission']; $Illness = | $_POST['Illness']; $Awareness = | $_POST['Awareness']; $question = | $_POST['question']; $history = | $_POST['history']; $medications = | $_POST['medications']; $examination = | $_POST['examination']; $results = | $_POST['results']; $diagnosis = | $_POST['diagnosis']; $investigations = | $_POST['investigations']; $host = "localhost" $dbUsername = "root"; $dbPassword = "xyzabc"; $dbname = "GreenCard"; $conn = new mysqli($host, $dbUsername, $dbPassword, $dbname); if (mysqli_connect_error()) { die('Connect Error('. mysqli_connect_errno().')'. mysqli_connect_error()); } else { $INSERT = "INSERT Into Greencard (patientname, hospitalnumber, DoB, specialty, otherspecialty, admissiondate, referring, bleep, Admission, Illness, Awareness, question, history, medications, examination, results, diagnosis, investigations) values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)"; //Prepare statement $stmt = $conn->prepare($INSERT); $stmt->bind_param("sisissssssssssssss", $patientname, $hospitalnumber, $DoB, $specialty, $otherspecialty, $admissiondate, $referring, $bleep, $Admission, $Illness, $Awareness, $question, $history, $medications, $examination, $results, $diagnosis, $investigations); $stmt->execute(); echo "New referral sent successfully"; } $stmt->close(); $conn->close(); } else { echo "Make sure fields are completed"; die(); } ?>
Hi folks, I just found this group and joined up! I have encountered a problem that I am not sure how to resolve, and I hope someone can assist. I run this query against my MySQL database: mysql_select_db($database_commdb, $commdb); $query_rsEmailAddress = "SELECT admin_email FROM tbl_admins WHERE admin_id = 1"; $rsEmailAddress = mysql_query($query_rsEmailAddress, $commdb) or die(mysql_error()); $row_rsEmailAddress = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsEmailAddress); $totalRows_rsEmailAddress = mysql_num_rows($rsEmailAddress); ...and want to use the result to populate the "mail to" field for my response form. (I'm doing this to avoid having my email address posted in a page to be skimmed.) I presently use this: $to = rsEmailAddress['admin_email']; I do some empty fields checking before submitting the form. However, when I click on submit, my form, tells me I have empty fields and will not process when there are NO empty fields. HOWEVER, if I hard-code my email address in the variable "$to" all is well, the form processes correctly, I get the email, etc... So I suspect the problem lies somewhere in the way I have constructed the $to variable. I have scratched my head till I am going bald(er) and my scalp is bleeding!!! HELP!! Please!! I have no idea what im doing wrong but this just isnt working, theres no error messages but im not getting any of the emails. Here is all the code that i had anything to do with editing, i have removed any personal info from it. Code: [Select] <?php $dbhost = 'localhost'; $dbuser = ' '; $dbpass = ' '; $conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ('Error connecting to mysql'); mysql_select_db(" ", $conn); $result = mysql_query("SELECT ****, ********** FROM **** WHERE name='*****'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $message = "<p><u><b><font size=\"5\" color=\"#800080\">********************</font></b></u></p> <p><b><font color=\"#800080\" size=\"4\">**************************************************</font></b></p> <p><b><font color=\"#800080\">*********</font></b> <b><font color=\"#333333\">**********</font></b></p> <p><b><font color=\"#800080\">********</font></b> <font color=\"#333333\"><b>***********</b></font></p> <p><font color=\"#800080\"><b>*******</b></font> <font color=\"#333333\"><a href=\"***********************************************</a></font></p> <p> </p>"; } $query=mysql_query('SELECT `email`,`name` FROM `users`'); //grab emails and names from database while($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)) //start a loop to send an email to each individual { //mail function with $row['email'] as the email address //I'm using phpmailer as an example here - - > include_once('phpMailer/class.phpmailer.php'); $mail = new PHPMailer(); // defaults to using php "mail()" $body = $message; //message inside the email $mail->From = "**************"; //email address that the email is being sent from $mail->FromName = "*************"; //more in depth for who the mail is from. $mail->Subject = "***********************************"; //The subject for the message //$mail->AltBody = "To view the message, please use an HTML compatible email viewer!"; // optional, comment out and test $mail->AddAddress($row[email], $row['name']); } mysql_close($conn); ?> Ok I dont understand why my php form keeps sending me blank emails. Because I have a checker with java script. Did I do something wrong in my coding with the php forms or is it just the javascript on the sites problem? Here is the php form code: Code: [Select] <script language="JavaScript"> function checkForm() { var cname, caddress, cphone, cemail, ccontact; with(window.document.msgform) { cname = name; caddress = address; cphone = phone; cemail = email; ccontact = contact; } if(trim(cname.value) == '') { alert('Please enter your name'); cname.focus(); return false; } else if(trim(caddress.value) == '') { alert('Please enter your address'); cemail.focus(); return false; } else if(trim(cphone.value) == '') { alert('Please enter your phone number'); cemail.focus(); return false; } else if(!isEmail(trim(cemail.value))) { alert('Email address is not valid'); cemail.focus(); return false; } else if(trim(ccontact.value) == '') { alert('Please enter your contact person'); cemail.focus(); return false; } else { cname.value = trim(cname.value); caddress.value = trim(caddress.value); cphone.value = trim(cphone.value); cemail.value = trim(cemail.value); ccontact.value = trim(ccontact.value); return true; } } /* Strip whitespace from the beginning and end of a string Input : a string */ function trim(str) { return str.replace(/^\s+|\s+$/g,''); } /* Check if a string is in valid email format. Can anyone out there tell me how to do that? It seems like I have to use cURL and I've tried multiple times but keep getting "bad request" errors. SIDE NOTE: Is my syntax wrong? Someone else helped me write that $xml variable, but it seems weird to me that some lines end with periods and some end with semicolons. Hello, I am very very new to PHP and have created a form that changes depending on a selection option. The website is here http://www.rmdesignstudio.com.au/wraptinprint/quotes.php and the PHP is all on the quotes.php page. The form sends to the email but when you fill in one form (example: Business Cards) the form sends, but along with all the entered fields the email also includes all the fields in all the hidden forms that werent filled in. I believe it is because they are drop down boxes and it is sending the first option in the list which happens to be "-----Please Select-----" Is there something I should be doing to my selection input field for this not to show up? Otherwise is there something I need to add to my PHP so it checks for the fields being filled in? I dont know how to add my code to this post, so if you could either show me or view my code via view source that would be awesome. Hi guys! New to the community and hope to learn a lot here! Here is some background info and what I want to do, and what I know. I have been building websites for years, and I am familiar with Actionscript 3.0. And I have successful ran a few wordpress websites. What I am trying to do right now however is modify this form script I found, to only email the data when the field isn't left blank. It's stumping me because the actual "message" that ends up being the body of the email is a variable. And form what I can tell I can't figure out how to put if statements into it. If anyone can take a look at this script and give me any pointers you would be awesome. Users can then edit their data then submit it to page called editform.php that does the update. All works well except that the page does not display the updated info. Users have to first logout and login again to see the updated info. even refreshing the page does not show the new info. Please tell me where the problem is as i am new to php.

Anyway i am having trouble with a php script which downloads a file from a mysql database. This php script works for text files and should work for most files from what i understand. When downloading a text file, the whole file is downloaded from the server. When downloading an mp3 file, only 16kb are downloaded and the file does not play. When looking at the data in the database, it displays that the full file is there (correct amount of bytes, so there is nothing wrong with my upload php script). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can change to make this work? Code: [Select] <?php if(isset($_GET['id'])) { // if id is set then get the file with the id from database $link=mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', ''); @mysql_select_db('filemgr') or die ("<p>Could not connect to mysql!</p>"); $id = $_GET['id']; $query = "SELECT name, type, size, content " . "FROM upload WHERE id = '$id'"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die('Error, query failed'); list($name, $type, $size, $content) = mysql_fetch_array($result); header("Content-length: $size"); header("Content-type:$type"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=$name"); echo $content; mysql_close($link); exit; } ?> Hi I don't know exactly what to do to see correct date of birth into my sql database. I have following code i.e. $month=$_POST['month']; $year=$_POST['year']; $date=$_POST['date']; $date_value="$month/$date/$year"; echo"YYYY-mm-dd format:$date_value"; and sql insert statement is like this $sql = "INSERT INTO table_name(fname, lname, gender, add1, add2, city, state, zip, country, email, phone, cellphone, dob, photo1) VALUES('$fname','$lname','$gender','$add1','$add2','$city','$state','$zip','$country','$email','$phone','$cellphone', '$date_value','" . $image['name'] . "')"; I don't know what exactly I need to do? Even though I changed the setting in php ini to register_globals = On I would appreciate any kind of help regarding this matter. Thanks Smita After spending 3 days on internet and struggling with so many different forums , i have found this forum where i believe i will get the solution for my problem. Friends, I am zero in PHP, but still i have managed to do something to fulfill my requirement. I am stuck with one thing now..So i need help on.... I am using one html+php form to submit database into mysql. I created a display of that table through php script on a webpage. Now i want a datepicker option on that displayed page by which i should able to select the date range and display the data of that date range from my mysql table. And then take a export of data displayed of selected date range in excel. This displayed page is login protected, so i want after login the next thing comes in should show a sate selection option which should be fromdate to to date , and then records should displayed from the database and i can take export of those displayed results in excel file. The code i am using on this page is below which do not have any thing included for excel export and datepicker script, I am pasting the code here and request you to please include the required code in it as required. Thanks In advance <?php //database connections $db_host = 'localhost'; $db_user = '***********'; $db_pwd = '*************'; $database = 'qserves1_uksurvey'; $table = 'forms'; $file = 'export'; if (!mysql_connect($db_host, $db_user, $db_pwd)) die("Can't connect to database"); if (!mysql_select_db($database)) die("Can't select database"); // sending query $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM {$table} ORDER BY date desc"); if (!$result) { die("Query to show fields from table failed"); } $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($result); $fields_num = mysql_num_fields($result); echo "$num_rows"; echo "<h1></h1>"; echo "<table border='1'><tr>"; // printing table headers for($i=0; $i<$fields_num; $i++) { $field = mysql_fetch_field($result); echo "<td>{$field->name}</td>"; } echo "</tr>\n"; // printing table rows while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<tr>"; // $row is array... foreach( .. ) puts every element // of $row to $cell variable foreach($row as $cell) echo "<td>$cell</td>"; echo "</tr>\n"; } mysql_free_result($result); ?> </body></html> Hi All, I've searched long and hard accross the web for an answer to this and finnally given in and requesting help. Here's what i have, i have a database setup and working fine. What i would like to do is for an administrator to be able to update my users details. It may sound odd, why don't you let your users update their own details? Well the administrators are dispatchers if you like, and my users are the 'dispatchees', for want of a better word. So i would like my administrators to be able to dispatch my users with routes and my users be able to see the routes that have been dispatched to them. I've setup a login area and a page that pulls there routes off the database, depending on their login details, i.e. jack will see his routes and jill will see her's independantly. This works by me editing the appropriate columns/rows of my database using phpmyadmin. What i'd like now is for administrators (who are directed to a seperate page, with more controls) to be able to do the same as me (updating the database) but by using a php form/script. I'd like to be able to select the routes from a second table on the same database if possible, to try and keep everything tidy. So my dispatcher would select Route001 from a drop down list, this would fill in the text fields next to the route field with From To, so my dispatcher would know what route001 actually is from/ too, choose a username (now being driven from my other table) and hit dispatch. My user would login to their area, hit view dispatched routes and it would display Route 001 with the correct information. The login area was a downloaded script i modified to suit and is called Login-Redirect_v1.31_FULL Many thanks in advance, hope you can sort of understand what i want Josh PHP/MySQL ability:Novice hey guys im really just after a bit of help/information on 2 things (hope its in the right forum).
1. basically I'm wanting to make payments from one account to another online...like paypal does...im wondering what I would need to do to be able to do this if anyone can shine some light please?
2.as seen on google you type in a query in the search bar and it generates sentences/keywords from a database
example:
so if product "chair" was in the database
whilst typing "ch" it would show "chair" for a possible match
I know it would in tale sql & json but im after a good tutorial/script of some sort.
if anyone can help with some information/sites it would be much appreciated.
Thank you
