PHP - Index.php Doesn`t Start Another Php-file
Sorry,guys,just can`t get thru:
1.there`s a file index.php <html> <body> <form action=/open.php> <button name=Jack value="150" type=submit>Send Form</button> </form> </body> </html> 2.there`s another file open.php <? echo $Jack; ?> Press the button,in the address box it says: http://mysite.net/open.php?Jack=150 But nothing happens, open.php doesn`t work.I got Denwer, open.php is in www.mysite.net. Please,help.Thanx. Similar TutorialsI've inherited a website and I'm no PHP expert. The way pages work is the urls are displayed as follows http://www.website.com/?action=<page_name> The pages are stored in a folder called templates as .tpl files. Amongst these is a file called layouts.tpl which is the website layout and menus, inside this there's a php include Code: [Select] <?php include("template/$content_for_layout.tpl"); ?> which basically draws the content for the page from each static file when requested. In the index.php each static file has to be included as in the following example: Code: [Select] case "conditions"; $title = "Terms & Conditions"; $content_for_layout = $_GET['action']; break; Without this in the index.php the page just reverts back to the homepage when you enter the url. I personally don't think this is right? It is handy to be able to manage all the page titles from a central location (index.php) but seems quite messy and cumbersome. I plan on making an articles or news folder and regularly creating pages and if each one has to be relayed this way in the index it is going to get big and cause headaches. Is there any way around this that anyone can see? ... On another note. If you type in the actual physical url of the file location it shows the html of the page without the layout i.e. http://www.website.com/template/conditions.tpl I don't know how common it is for websites to display "../?action=pagename" or similar but I wouldn't have thought it would be ideal for SEO purposes? Hi everyone! Nice to meet/see/read you. This is my first post and it will probably be a lame one so apologies. I'm a pretty good frontend designer and I've always struggled to learn PHP and my new job is forcing it on me so I'm happy in a "throw me in the deep end" kinda way. I am really stuck! I have a single page that is using jquery to scroll my content left and right via the menu (example attached). What I am trying to do is when on the homepage, don't show the "main logo". When on any other link, show it. I immediately thought of an if/else statement but realised I don't know what or how exactly to target since everything is on the same page and the URL doesn't change. Could I target the image title that is the only image on the homepage? So, something like: <?PHP $image_title = 'home'; if (XXXXX($image_title)) { echo "IMAGE"; } else { echo "NO IMAGE"; } ?> I know that's wrong, I put XXX where I feel like something possibly helpful should go. Heh. I'm not asking for someone to write code for me, I'm happy to learn but but I would be very grateful if someone could just guide me to what I need to do and off to Google I will go. I haven't been able to find anything that is like: "if image title equals". Hmm... I hope I can do this with PHP. Thanks again, Linda Why doesn't it add a new line when I open up index.php Code: [Select] $fp = fopen('text.txt','w'); fwrite($fp, "Your IP: ".$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']."\n"); fclose($fp); I am just trying to use Associate array in another php file through session.
file1.php <?php $age = array(); $_SESSION["age"] = array("Peter"=>"35", "Ben"=>"37", "Joe"=>"43"); foreach($_SESSION["age"] as $x => $x_value) { echo "Key=" . $x . ", Value=" . $x_value; echo "<br>\n"; } ?> OUTPUT: Key=Peter, Value=35 Key=Ben, Value=37 Key=Joe, Value=43 file2.php <?php session_start(); foreach( $_SESSION["age"] as $x => $x_value) { echo "Key=" . $x . ", Value=" . $x_value; echo "<br>\n"; } ?> OUTPUT: PHP Notice: Undefined index: age in session.php on line 3 PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in session.php on line 3 Why am I getting this error? Above is just example I tried to demonstrate for asking question for other issue, unfortunately I got new error in this example. But actual issue was, I was trying to plot graph using library which requires only Associate array, where the data is formed in file1.php. But I get only last index value displayed in file2.php even in graph or in echo. I don't understand why other values are not displayed in file2.php Please point me what is going wrong, Thanks. I have a script that uses simplexml_load_file to download weather xml files. It works great except when the file doesn't exist. The server returns an HTML page when the xml file isn't available but the title is something.xml. How can I check to be sure it is an xml file and handle the error when it isn't. I have tried file_exists and access the return code (it's always 200). Can I access the doctype and determine if it HTML or XML? I'm trying to do a simple image upload. It works fine on my local server but i'm moving all my files to my production server and some files i attempt to upload, via an html form, don't register. The $_FILES variable doesn't exist sometimes. I think its because of the file size but i'm not sure. The form has two inputs: "title" and "userfile". I can put something in the title and attempt to upload a small excel file and both $_POST and $_FILES exist but if i do a larger image file both $_POST and $_FILES don't even get set. I did an "echo ini_get('post_max_size');" and i get "8M". The image i'm attempting to upload is only 0.34M so i should be good there. I've replaced the actual upload script with this, which is how i found out the variables only get set sometimes Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Code: [Select] <?php echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["userfile"]["name"] . "<br />"; echo "Type: " . $_FILES["userfile"]["type"] . "<br />"; echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["userfile"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb<br />"; echo "Stored in: " . $_FILES["userfile"]["tmp_name"]; echo "<hr><pre>"; print_r($_POST); echo "</pre><hr>"; echo "<pre>"; print_r($_FILES); echo "</pre>"; Hi there, If anyone has a spare minute, id really appreciate someone casting their eye over this and seeing if there's anything obviously wrong. Writing to the txt file works fine, but the redirect to the thankyou.html page doesn't. Cheers Guys. <?PHP $filename = "output.txt"; #CHMOD to 666 $forward = 1; # redirect? 1 : yes || 0 : no $location = "thankyou.html"; #set page to redirect to, if 1 is above ## set time up ## $date = date ("l, F jS, Y"); $time = date ("h:i A"); ## mail message ## $msg = ""; foreach ($_POST as $key => $value) { $msg .= ucfirst ($key) .", ". $value . ", "; } $msg .= "\n"; $fp = fopen ($filename, "a"); # w = write to the file only, create file if it does not exist, discard existing contents if ($fp) { fwrite ($fp, $msg); fclose ($fp); } else { $forward = 2; } if ($forward == 1) { header ("Location:$location"); } else if ($forward == 0) { echo ("Thank you for submitting our form. We will get back to you as soon as possible."); } else { "Error processing form. Please contact the webmaster"; } ?> Many thanks, Mike And how can I make it so if it does already exist, it doesn't over-write information already in it? Thanks Hey everyone, I don't know what i'm doing wrong or missing some code snippet (duh! thats why i'm here. lol). <?php foreach (array('video', 'audio') as $type) { if (isset($_FILES["${type}-blob"])) { $fileName = $_POST["${type}-filename"]; $uploadDirectory = 'uploads/' .rand(5,500).$fileName; if (!move_uploaded_file($_FILES["${type}-blob"]["tmp_name"], $uploadDirectory)) { echo (" problem moving uploaded file"); } } } when uploaded from iPhone. So, I don't know how to see errors on iPhone. Folder permission is 755. php.ini max file size is 2024M, any ideas/solutions are appreciated.
Hi, this query runs fine when I run it from PHPMyAdmin: UPDATE `tran_term_taxonomy` SET `description` = (SELECT keyword from `good_keywords` ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1,1) WHERE `tran_term_taxonomy`.`taxonomy` = 'post_tag' AND `tran_term_taxonomy`.`description` = "" LIMIT 1 However, when I run the same query in a PHP file on my server, the page doesn't load at all. The message I get is: www.somesite.com is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500. This is my PHP code: <?php include("/database/connection/path/db_connect.php"); $result4 = mysqli_query($GLOBALS["___mysqli_ston"], "UPDATE `tran_term_taxonomy` SET `description` = (SELECT keyword from `good_keywords` ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1,1) WHERE `tran_term_taxonomy`.`taxonomy` = 'post_tag' AND `tran_term_taxonomy`.`description` = "" LIMIT 1"); echo $result4; ?> So how do I make this query work please? Thanks for your guidance. *delurk! It had to happen sooner or later!* OK, I am totally and utterly stumped. I have this script: $this->clear_cache ($this->cache_dir, $this->cache_time); if ($this->cache_time > 0) { $current_page = $_SERVER ['REQUEST_URI']; $current_page_encoded = base64_encode($current_page); $current_page_path = $this->cache_dir . $current_page_encoded; if (file_exists($current_page_path)) { // see if there is still a file with the name of the current request URI after cache cleared $content = file_get_contents ($current_page_path); return $content; } } Basically, it is for checking if there is a cached version of the page before running the rest of the script, using the REQUEST_URI as the identifier. So it calls a function to clear the cache, which works fine (and I've tried just deleting the cache files manually anyway). Then it checks if we are even caching, i.e. if cache time is greater than 0. Then it uses the BASE64-encoded REQUEST_URI (under which name the file would have been cached previously) to check if a file with that name still exists in the cache dir, and if so loads it. Now, this works perfectly with a url like: mysite/myscript/mysubpage But when the page has parameters, like: mysite/myscript/mysubpage?search=widgets the file_exists function returns TRUE, even though the directory is empty. I did do a clearstatcache(); but it made no difference and anyway, it wouldn't explain why the URI with query string would fail while the regular one would not. And even if something is wrong with my code elsewhere, the fact is it is returning TRUE for a non-existent file. Can someone prevent my slide into insanity?! I was wondering of it was possible to have a file say style.css in the root folder of a site like www.example.com/style.css and then get a subdomain called www.sub.example.com which points to www.example.com/subarea to get that file without the use of absolute paths? Sorry if its not clear. I really dont no what the problem is and im new here so i dont no if this is the right place to put this but im trying to make a registration page for my server and when i bring it up it says Undefined index: action in C:\xampp\htdocs\index.php on line 56 and idk what to do >.< this is the line that has the problem if($_POST['action']!="signup") so hopefully u guys could help me :/ Im using xampp btw Hi there, I was wondering if there is a way to display content on only my index.php page? I believe there is a way and I have done it before, but some of my pages use index.php?category etc. Is there a way to show content just on index.php and not on any dynamic pages? Thanks if ($count==1){ header("Location:store.php"); }very simple I have issolated it and it doesn't redirect maybe u can see where my mistake is Sometimes my mailserver craps out and I need to restart it. Since RDP is blocked at my current company, I was hoping to simply make a button on a password protected webpage to start it. This would be a simple button and no user config so as to reduce security risk (hopefully). I need to do something like: echo exec('net start abc'); This works if I use 'whoami' or 'hostname', but not with the 'net' command. Also, the whoami shows the following: nt authority\network service This is using IIS/WIN2003 Hello everyone, I have started PHP not so long ago and I must admit that this whole world is quite confusing. On the internet, we can find everything... A link saying that we should press A and not B, another saying that A must not be pressed and B shoud etc. When looking on the web to learn about PHP, I often find myself more confused at the end of the day than at the beginning of the day. So I would like to know, with all you've learned in the past years, what would be the best advice you could give to a newbie who's been assigned on a big project and who wants to learn PHP properly ? Would you tell him to use a templating system ? Would you tell him to use a PHP framework ? Would you tell him to use a caching system to store some data ? What else should be taken in consideration ? PS: Flexibility is a must for this project Thanks ! On my website I currently have it set up so that each user can pick there "avatar" (little picture or icon) Each user has the same choices but they all can pick different ones. I want to make it where they can upload their own picture and have a custom avatar. Where Should I start? ive been looking around and every tutorial information i get is to show data in two fields linked now my problem is i have a table with multiple fields adnd need to show it in one list to give you an idea of what im talking about
Table is like this
Winner 2nd place 3rd place 3rd place2
player a player b player c player d
player h player f player e player g
now what i need to know what to look for is to get it so that the list would be like this
Player a
player b
player c
player d
player e
player f
player g
player h
looking for something to work from any help on what in php i should look for to accomplish this i would be greatly appreciated
