PHP - Show Voting System Results
hi guys
i am building a voting system for my gaming website people sign up for matches, and those will be played at 3-5 different maps people can vote for wich maps they want to play each player can choose 3 maps, also 3 x the same map now the results of that voting system are shown on the page like this There is 1 vote for Map 1 There are 5 votes for Map 2 There is 1 vote for Map 3 There are 2 votes for Map 7 There is 1 vote for Map 4 There is 1 vote for Map 5 There are 8 votes for Map 8 now i want to make a script that picks the maps that will be played, so only show the 3-5 best results in the example above it woud be 2 x map 8 and 1x map 2 but im not sure how to start on this the db table of the votes is built like this id matchid playerid mapid mapname 1 113 195 1 NukeTown 2 113 195 2 Grid 3 113 195 1 NukeTown 4 114 195 1 NukeTown 5 114 195 1 NukeTown any advice or thoughts on this? thanks Similar Tutorials<form action='index.php' method='POST' enctype='multipart/form-dat'> <select name='votes'> <option>SEATOWN</option> <option>vote1</option> <option>vote2</option> <option>vote3</option> </select> <input type='submit' name='vote' value='Vote'> </form> <?php $vote=$_GET['votes']; if(isset($_POST['vote'])) { echo "voted"; echo $vote; } ?> why would this not echo out anything for $vote??? cheers matt Basically I am writing my own voting system but I have a few problems and I would like to address them all in one post rather than three. First: The first thing I need help with is using CURL to check if a user actually voted at the remote top list website. Two: I need maybe a source script of a 10 digit hash generator that will display the hash generated and will insert it into the database This is currently what my hash generator looks like but I need someone to help me change it so that it will echo the actual hash generated and inserts it into the database, <?php function gen_md5_password($len = 6) { return substr(md5(rand().rand()), 0, $len); } ?> Three: I need some sort of way to tell the database that if they hash is not used within 24 hours, it will just dump or delete. I'm trying to make a voting system, Where each person would vote and they'll receive a point for it. I just don't know how to accomplish this.. =/ Hi Guys, I am designing this website that takes votes on images. I need to store the votes for each image against the image name and a username. For this purpose, I need to modify the current code which retrieves votes from the voting system but doesn't have a system to enter the image name dynamically. Below is the code for the same: Code: [Select] <?php ob_start(); $host="localhost"; $username="computat_abhi"; $password="[..]"; $databasename="computat_button"; $tbl_name="record"; $db=mysql_connect ("localhost", "computat_abhi", "[..]")or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($databasename, $db) or die(mysql_error()); if( isset($_POST['Like']) ) { $sql = 'INSERT INTO record(ImageNumber,LikeCounter) VALUES (\'b1\', 1)'; mysql_query($sql, $db) or die(mysql_error()); echo 'Like vote is registered'; } elseif(isset($_POST['Dislike'])) { $sql = 'INSERT INTO record(ImageNumber,DislikeCounter) VALUES (\'b1\', 1)'; mysql_query($sql, $db) or die(mysql_error()); echo 'Dislike vote is registered'; } ob_end_flush(); ?> <html> <head> <title> Do you Like/Dislike this image? </title> </head> <body> <h1> Do you Like/Dislike this image? </h1> <form name="form1" method ="post"> <input type="submit" name="Like" value="Like"> <input type="submit" name="Dislike" value="dislike"> </form> </body> </html> Another issue is to register a new user on the website www.computationalphotography.in and link it with the voting system above. Looking forward to your help and suggestions. Hello dear friends Let say i've a huge database of 100,000 entries Code: [Select] my_table (id,name) and i'd like to call all the entires to be shown by this code Code: [Select] $conn = mysql_connect('localhost','USER','PASS') or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('my_table',$conn); $sql = "SELECT * from my_table"; $result = mysql_query($sql,$conn); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $name = $row['name']; $id = $row['id']; echo $name; echo "<br>(done)<br>"; } The problem The problem that makes me almost gonna cry,it takes long time to load then it will showing names (remember my_table of 100,000 entries) all at once and sometimes it sudden shows huage amount once or even sometime it hang up. My question Is there any way that i can call it so that it showing me results one name by one name like streaming name1 (done),name2 (done),name3 (done),name4 (done),name5 (done),......etc not showing all at once i'm afraid it may needs some ajax idea or somehow i really don't know but this is important to me so your help is very useful to me. so anyone please helps me cause it would really save my hosting ram otherwise they would suspend me Hello all, I am making a database with all the Boeing deliveries sorted by month. I made a index with all the months and when you click on a month you will get a full list of the type and quantity of aircraft that has been deliverd. I have two problems and I can't figure it out. The first problem I have, is that I want to show the visitors which airline has bougt which type of aircraft and how many. The second problem I have is a want to show them the total amount of deliveries, not just per type of aircraft, but a total number. Here are some shots of my problem and what I have: This is how my MYSQL-database lookes like. The columns I have a id, day, month, year, airline, aircraft, amount (just a simple translation of the Dutch words ). As you can see, there are some airlines that received one type of aircraft two times (TUI Travel PLC has received 2x Boeing 737-800). Keep this in mind, I will get back to this. This is the table on my website. The first column shows the type of aircraft. The secon column shows us how many of that type has been deliverd. In the last column I want to have all the airlines that has received that type of aircraft. As I mentioned above, TUI Travel PLC has received 2x B737-800, so in the row of B737-800 I want to have TUI Travel PLC (2x). If the airline received more then 1 aircraft, I would like to have (.....x) (and the amount on the dots --> TUI example: 2 aircraft, so 2x). So you will get TUI Travel PLC (2x). This is the code I have so far (sorry I am a real noobie in PHP/MYSQL so my programming ain't that great ) Code: [Select] <?php mysql_connect(".....", ".....", ".....") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db(".....") or die(mysql_error()); $maand = $_GET['maand']; $jaar = $_GET['jaar']; $query = "SELECT aircraft, jaar, maatschappij, COUNT(maatschappij) FROM deliveries_orders_boeing WHERE maand = '$maand' AND jaar = '$jaar' GROUP BY aircraft"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); // Print out result echo "<br /><h3>Boeing deliveries ".$maand." ".$jaar."</h3><br /> <table border='0' width='700'>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo "<tr><td id='aircraft'>". $row['aircraft']. "</td><td id='aantal'>". $row['COUNT(maatschappij)'] ."</td><td id='maatschappijen'>different companies</td></tr>"; } echo "<tr><td id='totaal'>Totaal</td><td id='totaal_aantal'>....</td><td></td></tr></table>"; ?> </td> </tr> </table> Maybe a little confusing, but I hope someone can help me with this. Kind regards, Flyboeing I know the php is basic and not completed yet, but I am working on that. My next step I want the result to show on index.php when a form is submitted to calculator2.php. I just cant seem to get it. Please help! index.php Code: [Select] <div class="post"> <h2 class="title">Calculator</h2> <hr /> <form method="post" action="calculator2.php"> Fireplace Front Width: <input type="text" name="fw"> <br /> Fireplace Back Width: <input type="text" name="bw"> <br /> Fireplace Depth: <input type="text" name="fd"> <br /> <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit"> </form> Pounds Of Glass Needed: <?php echo $res1; ?> </div> calculator2.php Code: [Select] <?php $frontwidth = $_POST['fw']; $backwidth = $_POST['bw']; $firedepth = $_POST['fd']; $x = $frontwidth + $backwidth+ $firedepth; $y = ($x / 3) * .6667; $res1 = $y *2; echo $res1; ?> Hello, Here's the weird thing, some of the pages shows the results, and some pages just won't show results at all, and I'm not getting any errors here is the one that doesn't Code: [Select] <? function display_mptt($user) { global $db; // retrieve the left and right value of the $root node $sql2 = "SELECT * from mptt where id='25'"; $result2 = mysql_query($sql2 ,$db); if(!$row2 = mysql_fetch_array($result2)) echo mysql_error(); echo '<h1>Users List</h1>'; // start with an empty $right stack $right = array(); // now, retrieve all descendants of the $root node $sql = "SELECT * from mptt WHERE 'left' BETWEEN '".$row2['left']."' I need to get a small function working for a site I need to build for a group of friends.
I was able to get a login page, and a way to add data to the data base.
Now I am stuck on the search and show results fuctionalities.
I have found tens of scripts on the internet, but most of them are outdated, or I cant get them to work, either it sends me back a blank page, does nothing or sends me to an error page
The GOAL
User Inputs text in a text box, clicks submit, the data in the text box is looked for in the second collumn of the DB, The information of the collumns 2 to 7 of the DB for the name search are displayed either on the same page or on a new page.
Is there any chance you could hel me with that, taken into account that I dont need the html part of the code, I only need help with the php part...
Thanks in advance to all the people reading this and the ones helping me...
This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=329323.0 Hello: I'm trying to figure out how to NOT show emailed results if the checkbox is empty (not checked). I only want it included in the message of the email if the checkbox was checked. It is writing the data to the email properly, but it is including some of the code as well. This is my email code: Code: [Select] mail( "me@digital.com", "Sign-up Sheet Request", "Date Sent: $myDate\n Parent's Name: $ParentsName Best Phone: $BestPhone Email: $Email Student's Name: $StudentsName Student's School: $StudentsSchool\n\n if(trim($SATTest1) != \"\" ) { echo \"$SATTest1\"; } ", "From: $Email" ); The "$SATTest1" data is displaying properly in the emails, but so is some of the code. Like this: Code: [Select] if(trim(Reading and Math Classes for March 10) != "" ) { echo "Reading and Math Classes for March 10"; } Any idea how to correct this? Thanks! I have a script that runs a MySQL query and loops through a bunch of results.
For each person's name, I have a short bio that I want to show/hide by clicking on the person's name. I have a basic start, but I can't figure out how to show/hide them individually. When I click on someone's name, it shows/hides all of the bio's. I do have an individual ID for each person, and could use that somehow, but I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how to accomplish that. Any ideas?

Hi again PhpFreaks, yet again I got a problem regarding coding. This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=333337.0 Hi, my page is currently up at brewhas.org/transactions.php. When I retrieve a set of results > the defined # per page (such as entering 'WI' for last name), I see the first page correctly, and see the links to next pages, but when I go to the next page there are no results displayed. Same for p.3, etc. So I've looked around enough to know that I need to pass a variable to the subsequent pages, either via a session variable or the URL. I have 2 fields input on the form, as well as a limit and offset. My questions are 1) do I need to pass all 4 and if so then should I use a session variable so the URL does not get too long, and 2) can anyone provide any help with setting session variables and including them to be passed? I'm a newbie and have grabbed some code where I can but this is where i'm stuck. thanks in advance. Code: [Select] <?php include 'config.php'; include 'opendb.php'; $rows_per_page = 20; //Get the values from the text boxes $fnamesearch = $_POST["fnamesearch"]; $lnamesearch = $_POST["lnamesearch"]; //These trim and convert the name fields to upper case. $fnamesearch=strtoupper($fnamesearch); $lnamesearch=strtoupper($lnamesearch); $fnamesearch=trim($fnamesearch); $lnamesearch=trim($lnamesearch); // Count how many rows are coming back for the query //This checks to see if there are at least 2 chars in the last name. if (strlen($lnamesearch)<2) { echo "<p class='style7'>Please enter at least 2 letters of the last name.</p>"; exit; } else //sets the query to get the number of rows { $query = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM BKL_TRANSACTIONS WHERE((PLAYER_LNAME LIKE '$lnamesearch%')& (PLAYER_FNAME LIKE '$fnamesearch%'))"; } $result = mysql_query($query) or die ("Could not execute the query"); //executes the get count query $query_data = mysql_fetch_row($result); $numrows = $query_data[0]; echo "count: ".$numrows; $lastpage = ceil($numrows/$rows_per_page); //determines how many pages based on rows divided by rows per page echo "pages: ".$lastpage; // Get required page number. [/code] tags added. I've got a page with pagination set up, but I can't figure out where I went wrong with the links at the bottom. When I do a search, it generates the proper number of links, but clicking on the links goes to a page with a whole row of 20 links at the bottom and no results on the page. (my search should show 3 pages with 2 records on each page) I've looked through the tutorial here and one in a book on pagination. Not seeing what's wrong. I'd narrow this down if I knew where it was causing the problem. pagination links are at the very bottom of the code. Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html><head> <meta content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="content-type"><title>search.html</title></head> <body> <center> <p>The results of your search:</p> <br> </center> require ('databaseconnect.php'); $select = mysql_select_db($db, $con); if(!$select){ die(mysql_error()); } $display = 2; if (isset($_GET['np'])) { $num_pages = $_GET['np']; } else { $data = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM descriptors LEFT JOIN plantae ON (descriptors.plant_id = plantae.plant_name) WHERE `leaf_shape` LIKE '%$select1%' AND `leaf_venation` LIKE '%$select3%' AND `leaf_margin` LIKE '%$select4%'"; $result = mysql_query ($data); if (!$result) { die("Oops, my query failed. Also, I know very little about coding jQuery, Ajax, etc. Here is what I'm looking for: Basketball coach enters a Page that only he (or admin) can see. (I have that part figured out.) Once there, he has a form to fill out with a player's name and other information. I'd rather there not be 12 rows of empty cells. (Coaches will view that as work) I'd rather not have the Page reload on each "Add", but that would be the lesser of two evils. Is there a way to keep a persistent connection so when a coach hits Add, the player gets added to the database, a new empty form shows up, and the player's information shows up below on a roster? Ok, so I have a bit of code but it's not working as it should, would one of you guys have a look at it and let me know where I'm going wrong? Basically I need to be able to input several words or terms into the text area, each on a separate line and have the results displayed something like: hello: 23,000.000 hello world: 19,000,000 world: 278,000,000 I also see that the script is not searching the words / terms inside quotes (EG. "hello world") TIA Code: [Select] <html> <body> <?php function my_fetch($url,$user_agent='Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)') { $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $user_agent); curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0); curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_REFERER, 'http://www.google.com/'); $result = curl_exec ($ch); curl_close ($ch); return $result; } $s = $_GET['s']; if (isset($s)) { echo "<p><i>Search for $s</i></p>"; $s = urlencode($s); $data = my_fetch("http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=" . $s . Sorry for bad english. |
