PHP - Copying External Webpages.

Ok fellas....this one has me stumped. 


I am trying to copy a whole bunch of pictures from one directory into a new directory.  However, the new directory will store the images based upon the user's id.  Initially I stored all the images in one directory.  HUGE mistake..  That single directory is over 5GB and takes and eternity to open and edit the files for 1 single user.  So I need to separate them out.

Anyways, here is what I am trying to do in theory.

All the information about the user and the file they uploaded is stored in my database.  But how do I create a script that is somewhat dynamic?  One that will refresh the copy file script for each result.

I'm trying to work on my php skills by creating an online content "finder". I'm using cURL to grab webpage HTML and store it in a variable.

I then want my program to find the article title, keywords and the content. I'm using articles from Ezine.

I don't have any problems grabbing the webpage html. But when I try to grab the title, keywords, and content using this code.

Only the title comes out of the page, the rest of the values are blank... I'm not sure why the getbetween is only working to extract the title from the html. Does anyone have any ideas why??

I tried testing to see if it was grabbing the propper webpage and when I used 'echo $html;' the webpage came out fine on my page..

I am totally lost on this, I just want to practice using cURL and my webrequest coding.

I'm using copy() to copy an image to a different directory.

The problem is the image could be in 1 of 3 folders.

With out knowing which folder its in how can I do this?

I'm trying to allow a user to upload an image, and have that image copied to an Image folder on the server
When I run the code I get the success message near the bottom of the code, but the image never gets copied to the folder. I'm not sure what's causing it to not copy the image

I'm trying to compare 2 files, each with data separated by ::. I'm trying to make a comparison that if the data to the left of the separator from one file is not found in the same column of the other file, then it is copied to an array.
For example:
file1.txt
abc::def
ggg::hhh
mmm::ppp

file2.txt
abc::def
zzz::aaa
bbb::ccc

So...
ggg::hhh
mmm::ppp
is copied from file1.txt because ggg and mmm was not found on the same side in file2.txt

...but I'm not getting any error message with this. The operation just hangs.

I've been developing a php application that runs my entire company for the last 4 years. One of the things I never thought of until now is that the server guys or anyone else could copy the source code and db and be able to start up another company which brings up my question to you.... How would you protect your application?

My thought is to create one small php file that is encrypted with something that is required to make the entire site run (not sure at this point what it would be that they couldn't just rebuild). Then if this file sees it's on a different domain/ip it requests data from my site which logs the info for me to look at. If I find out it's something not approved, it would then not allow the program to run and will give a error.

What is your idea?

Hi all,   So im trying to improve on my PHP as my knowledge isn't that great.   lets say for argument sake my ip is:   192.168.0.1   im trying to set a external variable to set this as the url.   so on each page i use, for each link instead of typing out the ip address i can simply type:   <a href="{url}/index.php">Home</a>       and then if it is possible, to do something like this:   <link rel="stylesheet" href="{url}/main.css" type="text/css">   all in one file so in my php pages i can simple include 1 php file and it will have all of the relevant stylesheets ect linked to it.

I'm building a program in php that will be able to view YouTube videos from the URL. So if I type:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(Video ID)

Then my program works and it will return the Video ID! But then some idiot clicks on a related video and this URL is generated:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(Video ID)&feature=related

And my program strips the first bit by replacing "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" with an empty string "" but then I'm still left with the "&feature=related" I thought about just replacing that with an empty string as well but sometimes there can be a URL like this:

&feature=g-vrec&context=G28d9eecRVAAAAAAAABA

Which has a different unique code each time.

So I thought it'd be much simpler if I could use $_GET[] with an external URL, so the user types in:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(Video ID)&feature=related

It just gets the "v" value rather than my buggy replace thing.

I was just wondering if it was possible to have an external php file that can be included in the head of a web page, like a .js file. If this isn't possible maybe have a .js file containing php code that can be executed regarding the JavaScript around it...
