PHP - Problem With Storing Info & Associated Id
Hi guys, hoping for some help here.
I've a database created with a website. I recently got help here off Muddy Funster who was a MASSIVE help to me on this thread - http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=357580.new;topicseen#new I've another slight problem with what I am trying to do. At the moment the user can search for an ID and it brings up the relevant information. What I am doing now is that the user has entered the ID, their taken to the results where they can be viewed. What I have added is a form at the bottom of the results page, which has to be filled in and saved. I thought this would be relatively easy. I have the form storing in the database, but there is one problem, its being added as another document! So instead of clicking save and the information being added to the ID that is already associated with it, it is incrementing the ID in the database and being stored separately to the ID that was searched. Could anyone give any help as to why this might be happening? I have on the button 'Save' click, it goes to another php file and inserts the data to the relevant fields, I'm not sure why it is incrementing the ID separately instead of just saving to the ID that it is associated with I don't no if I'm making it clear enough but what I wanted to do was save the form they filled out with the ID that was searched if you get me? Thanks for any help Similar TutorialsThis topic has been moved to Application Design. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=315057.0 Okay, I'll make this short and sweet, and all side comments are irrelevant. I'm doing this for my own happies So using Facebook.com's API you can extract all of a specific user's friends in an array. Well I'm making a array check to see who on that users friend list was removed or deleted them that week using array_dif(); in this method: 1) User allows the application 2) Application catches the user's friends_id's in an array and stores them // this is where i'm having trouble, i'll come back to it 3) User then waits a few days and notices their friend count is no longer 400, it's now 399! 4) User logs into my application, and checks the previously uploaded array against their current array of friends. Okay now to the part i'm struggling with is, what would you do? Should i store them each uniquely in a database? Because some users have 4,000+ friends and that gets quite strenuous. OR! Should i save them into a txt file unique to that person's user_id. I kind of like the 2nd option, however it's less ( to my newbish mind ) customizable versus the sql_queries. Once again, i'd like to reiterate, i don't care that this is again Facebooks terms of service, it's for my own personal gain and just enjoy taking on projects in my spare time that force my brain to work hard. That's all, hope you excuse the typos and poor grammar. Typed this pretty quickly, any questions - feel free to ask! So, I am your typical newbie to php. I am usually doing more design stuff, but now I am diving into PHP. The script in question is made for a user to upload an image to a respective directory. Also the path, category, and 2 tags representing the image will be uploaded to a mySQL database. My problem is that I have pieced together some freeware scripts that I have found in order to accomplish my ultimate goal. I need the form to be processed on the same page, because I don't want to redirect users. I also need to upload the respective information to the database. Right now, when you upload an image it only seems to be processing a part of the form, and does not upload any of the information at all. Can someone spot the many things that I am doing wrong and provide me with some direction? I have two files in question image_upload.php (Sorry about all of the code) <?php require_once 'upload_config.php'; function VerifyForm(&$values, &$errors) { // Do all necessary form verification if($clear_folder_before_upload){ $mydirectory = myUploadDir(); EmptyDir($mydirectory); } $uploaded_file_counter=0; $UploadLimit = $_POST['counter']; for($i=0;$i<=$UploadLimit;$i++){ $file_tag='filename'.$i; $filename=$_FILES[$file_tag]['name']; if($filename!=null) { $rand=time(); $str="$rand$filename"; // set folder name in here. $filedir= myUploadDir(); //change the string format. $string= $filedir.$str; $patterns[0] = "/ /"; $patterns[1] = "/ /"; $patterns[1] = "/ /"; $replacements[1] = "_"; $dirname=strtolower(preg_replace($patterns, $replacements, $string)); //end of changing string format //checking the permitted file types if($check_file_extentions) { $allowedExtensions = allowedfiles(); foreach ($_FILES as $file) { if ($file['tmp_name'] > '') { if (!in_array(end(explode(".", strtolower($file['name']))), $allowedExtensions)) { $fileUploadPermission=0; } else { $fileUploadPermission=1; } } } } else{ $fileUploadPermission=1; } //end of checking the permitted file types if($fileUploadPermission){ if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES[$file_tag]['tmp_name'],$dirname)) { echo "<img src='$dirname'>"; $uploaded_file_counter+=1; } } } } if($uploaded_file_counter==0){ echo "<br /> <b style='font-weight:bold;color:red'>Oops! I am having some problems with part of the code. What is going on is a user registers info with a form and is sent an email with a confirmation link. The info that was in a temp DB table is moved to a member table. All of this works fine, but I am trying to be able to store an ID and username associated with their passkey info and echo that variable out. This part I am having trouble with. Code is here. <? session_start(); include('config.php'); // Passkey t from link $passkey=$_GET['passkey']; $tbl_name1="Profile_temp"; // Retrieve data from table where row matches passkey $sql1="SELECT * FROM $tbl_name1 WHERE confirm_code ='$passkey'"; $result1=mysql_query($sql1); // If successfully queried if($result1){ // Count how many row has this passkey $count=mysql_num_rows($result1); // if passkey is found retrieve info from temporary DB if($count==1){ $rows=mysql_fetch_array($result1); $FirstName=$rows['FirstName']; $LastName=$rows['LastName']; $UserName=$rows['UserName']; $Password= md5($rows['Password']); $Password2=md5($rows['Password2']); $email=$rows['email']; $Zip=$rows['Zip']; $Birthday=$rows['Birthday']; $Security=$rows['Security']; $Security2=$rows['Security2']; $tbl_name2="Profile"; // Insert data that retrieves from "temp_members_db" into table "registered_members" $sql2="INSERT INTO $tbl_name2(`FirstName`,`LastName`,`Username`,`Password`,`Password2`,`email`,`Zip`,`Birthday`,`Security`,`Security2`) VALUES ('$FirstName','$LastName','$UserName','$Password','$Password2','$email','$Zip','$Birthday','$Security','$Security2')"; //echo $sql2; $result2=mysql_query($sql2); } // if passkey is not found, display message "Wrong Confirmation code" else { echo "<h2>Sorry, Your passkey was not found.</h2>"; } while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result2)) { $_SESSION['id'] = $row['id']; $_SESSION['UserName']=$user_name; } // if successfully moved data from table"temp_members_db" to table "registered_members" displays message "Your account has been activated" and don't forget to delete confirmation code from table "temp_members_db" if($result2){ echo "<h2>Your account has been activated, </h2>"; echo "$user_name"; echo"<p>You may now upload a profile picture</p>"; // Delete information of this user from table "temp_members_db" that has this passkey $sql3="DELETE FROM $tbl_name1 WHERE confirm_code = '$passkey'"; $result3=mysql_query($sql3); } } ?> getting an error for this part while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result2)) { $_SESSION['id'] = $row['id']; $_SESSION['UserName']=$user_name; } the error is "Warning: mysql_fetch_assoc(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in confirmation.php on line 62" I have created a login form. I am sending values through Ajax for form validation. However, I am having problem with the code that I am unable to store values in Sessions & Cookies.
I have added a "Remember me" checkbox into login form. I want to validate Boolean value using Javascript Checked property and send the data to PHP for validation.
If user clicks on remember me checkbox then the data should be stored in either Sessions & Cookies. If it is not checked then data should be stored only in Sessions. I am posting here my login form code, Ajax code & PHP code.
Could you guys help me to point out my mistake what I am doing wrong in this code?
Login Form:
<input type="checkbox" id="cb" name="cb"> <label for="cb">Remember me</label>Ajax Code: function login(){var e = _("email").value; var pass = _("password").value; var cb = _("cb").value; if(e == "" || pass == ""){ _("status").innerHTML = "Please fill out the form"; } else { _("loginbtn").style.display = "none"; _("status").innerHTML = 'please wait ...'; var ajax = ajaxObj("POST", "handlers/login_handler.php"); ajax.onreadystatechange = function() { if(ajaxReturn(ajax) == true) { if(ajax.responseText == "login_failed"){ _("status").innerHTML = "Login failed, please try again."; _("loginbtn").style.display = "block"; } else { window.location = "message.php?msg=Hello "+ajax.responseText; } } } ajax.send("e="+e+"&pass="+pass+"&cb="+cb); } }PHP Code: $cb = cleanstr($_POST['cb']); if(isset($cb) && ($cb == true)) { // IF USER CLICKED ON REMEMBER ME CHECKBOX CREATE THEIR SESSIONS AND COOKIES $_SESSION['userid'] = $db_id; $_SESSION['username'] = $db_username; $_SESSION['password'] = $db_pass; setcookie("id", $db_id, strtotime( '+30 days' ), "/", "", "", TRUE); setcookie("user", $db_username, strtotime( '+30 days' ), "/", "", "", TRUE); setcookie("pass", $db_pass, strtotime( '+30 days' ), "/", "", "", TRUE); // UPDATE THEIR "IP" AND "LASTLOGIN" FIELDS $sql = "UPDATE users SET ip='$ip', lastlogin=now() WHERE id='$db_id' LIMIT 1"; $query = mysqli_query($con, $sql); echo $db_username; exit(); } else { // IF USER HAS NOT CLICKED ON REMEMBER ME CHECKBOX CREATE THEIR SESSIONS ONLY $_SESSION['userid'] = $db_id; $_SESSION['username'] = $db_username; $_SESSION['password'] = $db_pass; // UPDATE THEIR "IP" AND "LASTLOGIN" FIELDS $sql = "UPDATE users SET ip='$ip', lastlogin=now() WHERE id='$db_id' LIMIT 1"; $query = mysqli_query($con, $sql); echo $db_username; exit(); } So, on my website, i have added a "last active" feature, so if someone is surfing the site, they can view when another users last page visit was. so, every second, +1 is added to the $ts variable what i have now, working and all, shows ONLY "NOW!", or ONLY "1 second", ONLY "___ seconds ago"... and so on I have tred over, and over, and over to fix this to my liking, with more instances available, as an example, my current script will show somebody who is 13 months and 26 days inactive, just as "1 year", i want to see the "1 year, 1 month, and 26 days inactive"... or even simpler, just so it displays days/minutes/seconds/NOW! function howlongtil($ts) { $ts=$ts - time(); if ($ts<1) // <1 second return " NOW"; elseif ($ts==1) // <1 second return $ts." second"; elseif ($ts<60) // <1 minute return $ts." seconds"; elseif ($ts<120) // 1 minute return "1 minute"; elseif ($ts<60*60) // <1 hour return floor($ts/60)." minutes"; elseif ($ts<60*60*2) // <2 hour return "1 hour"; elseif ($ts<60*60*24) // <24 hours = 1 day return floor($ts/(60*60))." hours"; elseif ($ts<60*60*24*2) // <2 days return "1 day"; elseif ($ts<(60*60*24*7)) // <7 days = 1 week return floor($ts/(60*60*24))." days"; elseif ($ts<60*60*24*30.5) // <30.5 days ~ 1 month return floor($ts/(60*60*24*7))." weeks"; elseif ($ts<60*60*24*365) // <365 days = 1 year return floor($ts/(60*60*24*30.5))." months"; else // more than 1 year return floor($ts/(60*60*24*365))." years"; }; anyone know how? Hey guys, What would you recommend to store db values for later? the only thing I can come up with is doing it this way: $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE name='$user'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { } { and then using the $row['dbvariable'] later is that the best way? Can anyone tell me whats wrong with this: The file uploads fine, the url however does not get posted to the database? I added a 'or die' but it didn't execute...Do I need to move the query higher up the script? <?php include ('base.php'); $id = $_GET['id']; if ((($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/gif") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/jpeg") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/pjpeg")) && ($_FILES["file"]["size"] < 20000)) { if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { echo "Return Code: " . $_FILES["file"]["error"] . "<br />"; } else { echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["file"]["name"] . "<br />"; echo "Type: " . $_FILES["file"]["type"] . "<br />"; echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["file"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb<br />"; echo "Temp file: " . $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"] . "<br />"; if (file_exists("upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"])) { echo $_FILES["file"]["name"] . " already exists. "; } else { move_uploaded_file($_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"], "imgs/pictures/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]); echo "Stored in: " . "upload/" . $_FILES["file"]["name"]; } } } else { echo "Invalid file"; } $file = $_FILES["file"]["name"]; $sql = "UPDATE `chillp_security`.`staff` SET `picture` = \'imgs/pictures/$file\' WHERE `staff`.`id` = $id;"; ?> Hello all, I'm having some problems with a script ive written which is designed to allow me to send a message to all the users of my site. the form works fine, the SQL works fine but im having a problem with storing php variables and outputting them in the message. The form has a field named "allmessage" which is where i'll type my message, I'll type something like "Hello $Name" and store the text as $allmessage = $_POST['allmessage']; example script //loops through each member while ($row=mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { //sets variables $ID=$row['ID']; $Name=$row['MemberName']; $Email=$row['Email']; $content_type = 'Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"' ; mail($Email, $allsubject, $allmessage, $content_type); } //loop ends send us a copy of the mail mail("me@me.com", $allsubject, $allmessage, $headers ); Now what I want to be outputted in the email is "Hello John" or "Hello Paul" but what I get is "Hello $Name". Any ideas?! Im making a application but many users can access it at the same time, also the data that needs to be stored into the database in 3 parts firstly the user will enter some details the comany will fill out the reamining details and the user will then accept or decline the companies proposal. The issue im havign will it be easier to just store all of this information into session variables and then save them into the database at the end when all of the details are ready ? Thank You Hi, i would like to know what is the best method to store a picture. Currently what happens, is each user has a different avatar, which when uploaded comes in a folder called Avatar, in my website folder and is also stored as a BLOB in mysql. I would like to know is this ok to store all avatars in one folder or some other step should be used and if so could some one guide me to a good tutorial. As I would also like to make an option, where people could upload their pictures, is it safe to store pictures in the same folder for all users or some how create a different folder for each user. Hi, I am struggling with a form in php. I am trying to add a form by using the include function. I want to include thsi form on all pages so it would be very useful if I can save the current page name somewhere so that I can use to validate the form. For example, this is the form I am trying to include. <?php if(!empty($errors)) { if(isset($errors['sendError'])) { echo '<p><strong class="error">There was a problem with our system please contact us directly.</strong></p>'; } else { echo '<p><strong class="error">Please check the form below for errors.</strong></p>'; } } ?> <form action="index.php" method="post" id="form1"> <p> <label><?php if(isset($errors['name'])) { echo '<span class="error">'; } ?>Name<font color="red">*</font>: <?php if(isset($errors['name'])) { echo '</span>'; } ?></label> <input id="search1" id="complete" type="text" value="<?php echo $form['name']; ?>" name="name" size="60" align="right" style="background:#EEF5A4" /> <label><?php if(isset($errors['company'])) { echo '<span class="error">'; } ?>Company: <?php if(isset($errors['company'])) { echo '</span>'; } ?></label> <input id="search1" id="complete" type="text" value="<?php echo $form['company']; ?>" name="company" size="60" align="right" /> <label><?php if(isset($errors['phone'])) { echo '<span class="error">'; } ?>Phone Number: <?php if(isset($errors['phone'])) { echo '</span>'; } ?></label> <input id="search1" id="complete" type="text" value="<?php echo $form['phone']; ?>" name="phone" size="60" align="right" /> <label><?php if(isset($errors['email'])) { echo '<span class="error">'; } ?>Email<font color="red">*</font>: <?php if(isset($errors['email'])) { echo '</span>'; } ?></label> <input id="search1" id="complete" type="text" value="<?php echo $form['email']; ?>" name="email" size="60" align="right" style="background:#EEF5A4" /> <label><?php if(isset($errors['enquiry'])) { echo '<span class="error">'; } ?>Enquiry: <?php if(isset($errors['enquiry'])) { echo '</span>'; } ?></label> <textarea id="search1" id="complete" textarea name="enquiry" rows=4 cols=40 value="<?php echo $form['enquiry']; ?>" name="enquiry" size="60" align="right"></textarea> </p> <p> <input type="submit" class="formbutton" value="Submit" /> <input type="reset" class="formbutton" value="Reset" /> </p> <p><font color="red">*</font> Denotes a required field</p> </form> Because I am going to use this form on all pages, I would like it to include whatever the filename is rather than index.php in the first line of the form so that when the user clicks submit, it will stay on the same page but validate the form based on the mandatory fields. I don't know if the question is clear. I would very much appreciate any help at all. Thank you very much. Let's see if I can explain this ok.. Basically I have a site and the page product categories use dynamically created URL's. I want to use these URL's to put on my products so I can list all the categories each product is in. Alright, the register/login system is fully working with sql injection, BUUUT now I want to store their IP Address. WHOLE new function that I've never dealt with before. So I need some help. Am I doing something wrong? I have the IPadd in the database as INT(10) and then I went down to another drop down list and hit unsigned. I feel like I'm doing something wrong with the field in the database.. { $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] = $IPadd; $sql = "INSERT INTO Member (username, createDate, password, firstName, email,IPadd) VALUES ('$username',NOW(),md5('$password'),'$firstName','$email',inet_aton('$IPadd'))"; mysqli_query($cxn,$sql); $_SESSION['auth']="yes"; $_SESSION['username'] = $username; header("Location: testing.php"); } Code: [Select] <?php $going=''; $name='<span id="name"></span>'; echo "$name"; //results : stevengoh --- wanted $going=substr($name, 1, 17); echo "$name"; //results : <span id="going"> ---- don't want ?> Is it possible to store in php the results of variable id="going" javascript instead of <span id="going"></span>?. Hi, I have a XHTML/PHP page that loads a PHP file each couple of seconds for building up the page. The PHP file should retreive data that keeps changing. What would be the best way to store and retreive the data? Obviously i can do this with a database but that will put a lot of stress on the server as each user keeps polling the database. So i was looking into other methods of doing this. I have tried doing this with a plain text file and CSV files using fwrite to put the initial data into a file with separators. Then retrieving that file and explode it into a multidimensional array again. I am unsuccessful here to assign the key values to the new array. I have also tried many snippets for this but these where also not working properly for me. Maybe XML is the key, i didn't really delve into it yet but it seems i have to get extra programs or parser to actually write and change files? But then again i can't find any working tutorials on how to put multi dimensional strings back and forth between PHP and XML. So what needs exactly to be done. Well i'm creating a game where you can fight each other with 4 units on a turn base. The units have a speed stat that determines when it's there turn to act. Like if (unit 1) has 3 speed and (unit 2) 5 speed they will move like this on the time line (unit 1) -> (unit 2) -> (unit 1) -> (unit 1) -> (unit 2). So the plan is each time the user acts with a unit to increment it's speed by the base value. A script will run each time picking up the next unit in line. The PHP page does a check on which player the unit belongs to and if that matches the players ID it will sent the necessary information. The other player will get something like "not your turn". Tx, Hey, I am a bit of a noob at php/mysql and trying to be clever(emphasis on trying). I want to pull some php/html code from a database in mysql, whilst it does display the html, the php does not.
