PHP - Renumber Row In Sequential Order Using Pdo
I have a table with an ID column which is the Primary key and auto incremented. I have another column named ORDER that contains a number. This number is used to define the order in which the row data is displayed on a page. When I delete a row, the ORDER column will have a gap and I would like to renumber the subsequent rows to remove the gap. ie: I want to renumber the rows: ID ORDER 1 1 2 2 4 3 5 4 When I insert a new row I want the ORDER row to be given the NEXT sequential number How do I do that using PHP PDO? Thanks Similar TutorialsI am writing a small program that generates a sequential numbering array. I need to include potentially a prefix, leading zeros, a starting number, a suffix and a quantity and also reverse the generated values. example: P-000299-001 P-000298-001 P-000297-001 P-000296-001 P-000295-001 P-000294-001 P-000293-001 P-000292-001 P-000291-001 P-000290-001 P-000289-001 Here is my code to generate: <?php $quantity = "100"; $start = "200"; $leadingzeros = "000"; $prefix = "P-"; $suffix = "-001"; $i = $start + $quantity - 1; while ($i >= $start) { echo $prefix . $leadingzeros . $i-- . $suffix . "<br />\n"; } ?> The code all seem to function correctly until I increase the quantity to say 25000 numbers to be generated or if the number string gets too long and the server will just sit and spin until a "cannot be displayed error" appears in IE. It had been suggested to abandone the array and simply write the generated sequence to a file and this is the code to generated the file it - it really works great and is really fast. <?php $startTime = time(); // this is just for measuring execution time $quantity = "25000"; $start = "26000"; $length = 6; $prefix = "P-"; $suffix = "-001"; $file = "test.txt"; $fh = fopen($file, 'w') or die("Could not open $file for writing"); for($ix = 1, $nbr = $start; $ix <= $quantity; $ix++, $nbr--) { fprintf($fh, $prefix.'%0'.$length.'d'.$suffix."\n", $nbr); } // all done, let's see how long it took: $endTime = time(); echo "Script took about " . ($endTime - $startTime) . " seconds to run."; ?> I am using this program to generate numbering files used in the printing industry. The sequential numbering works great. I had to change your code slightly in order to produce a usable numbering file, I had to subtract "1" from the $start+$quantity in order to get the correct amount of numbers. For a start of 1000 and quantity of 10 you had 1010 as your first number and it should actually be 1009 to give you 10 numbers. $fh = fopen($file, 'w') or die("Could not open $file for writing"); for($ix = 1, $nbr = $start+$quantity-1; $ix <= $quantity; $ix++, $nbr--) P-001009-001 P-001008-001 P-001007-001 P-001006-001 P-001005-001 P-001004-001 P-001003-001 P-001002-001 P-001001-001 P-001000-001 Let's think of this as an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper going through a laser printer - if each page had one number on it the sequential number will be great. Anyway, here is the next challenge: Let's say we have one 5.5" x 8.5" on an 8.5" x 11" sheet twice or two up. Each with its own number on the left and right side of the paper. That after printing will be cut and stacked on top of one another and produce a pile that is still in the right order. We need to take the $quantity+$start-1 and divide by 2 and then interleave the two sets of numbers and stop the numbering set at the starting number. easy huh!!! P-001009-001 P-001004-001 P-001008-001 P-001003-001 P-001007-001 P-001002-001 P-001006-001 P-001001-001 P-001005-001 P-001000-001 Here is the code I have for an example: <?php $quantity = "10"; $start = "1000"; $leadingzeros = "00"; $prefix = "P-"; $suffix = "-001"; $i = $start + $quantity - 1; $quantity2 = $quantity / 2; $j = (int)($i - $quantity2); while ($j >= $start) { echo $prefix . $leadingzeros . $i-- . $suffix ."<br />\n" . $prefix . $leadingzeros . $j-- . $suffix . "<br />\n"; } ?> The third option is two completely different 5.5" x 8.5" items and two different numbering schemes on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Here is the code I have been using for it. <?php $quantity = "10"; $start = "1000"; $leadingzeros = "00"; $prefix = "P-"; $suffix = "-001"; $quantity2 = "10"; $start2 = "2000"; $leadingzeros2 = "000"; $prefix2 = "Q-"; $suffix2 = "-005"; $i = $start + $quantity - 1; $k = $start2 + $quantity2 - 1; while ($i >= $start) { echo $prefix . $leadingzeros . $i-- . $suffix . "<br />\n" .$prefix2. $leadingzeros2 . $k-- . $suffix2 . "<br />\n"; } ?> Which produces: P-001009-001 Q-0002009-005 P-001008-001 Q-0002008-005 P-001007-001 Q-0002007-005 P-001006-001 Q-0002006-005 P-001005-001 Q-0002005-005 P-001004-001 Q-0002004-005 P-001003-001 Q-0002003-005 P-001002-001 Q-0002002-005 P-001001-001 Q-0002001-005 P-001000-001 Q-0002000-005 Thanks in advance Hi everyone reading this, I have used PHP before as a hobby programmer but recently my boss asked me to make a webpage to accept worker's hours and store them in a database. So I realize that in the last few years object oriented style has been added into PHP. I have learnt OOP (C++) about a decade ago and understand the fundamentals of it. If I am writing this website code, am I going to be better off spending the time to get familiar with the new OOP stuff in PHP and use that or would it be better to just use an old sequential style of programming? I know this may seem like apples and oranges and that it varies based on opinion, but maybe there can be reasons for me to use OOP over sequential. For instance, if I write this code to be flexible enough that I can do a basic "worker times" table first, then I might be able to add additional functionality later, like worker details and qualifications, all of which could be brought up with the click of a button. Will it generally be easier to add onto code using OOP? This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=344739.0
Hi everyone. I'm very new into self learning programming. Presently I'm trying to develop a simple basic Robot that would only Place a Market Order every seconds and it will cancel the Order every followed seconds. Using the following library: It would place Trade Order at a ( Price = ex.com api * Binance api Aggregate Trades Price) I have already wrote the api to call for xe.com exchange rate with php <?php $auth = base64_encode("username:password"); $context = stream_context_create([ "http" => [ "header" => "Authorization: Basic $auth" ] ]); $homepage = file_get_contents("https://xecdapi.xe.com/v1/convert_from?to=NGN&amount=1.195", false, $context ); $json = json_decode($homepage, TRUE); foreach ($json as $k=>$to){ echo $k; // etc }; ?> And also for the Binance Aggregate Price in JavaScript
<script> var burl = "https://api3.binance.com"; var query = '/api/v3/aggTrades'; query += '?symbol=BTCUSDT'; var url = burl + query; var ourRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); ourRequest.open('GET',url,true); ourRequest.onload = function(){ console.log(ourRequest.responseText); } ourRequest.send(); </script>
My problem is how to handle these two api responds and also the functions to use them to place a trade and cancel it. I've got. Currently i have a query which at the end has this Code: [Select] order by (value/counter) desc"); which works fine, however i was wondering, if in the case that 2 rows have the same, is it possible to set a second value to order by? Hello, I have classes in a database with no set UNIX date, just the day like Wednesday and in two other columns the start and end dates. I want to be able to order by the day first and then by end_time but php orders the day column by spelling and not the day it holds in chronological order. Is there anyway to change the query to order the day column as a date? See the query below? Code: [Select] $query = "SELECT * FROM zumba_timetable WHERE end_time>'$current_time' ORDER BY day, end_time ASC LIMIT 0,1"; Hi there, just registered and in need of help, this looks a good place to start! I'm a php beginner so please bear with me I have a mysql database which holds 3 pieces of info id: match: 1: I'm trying to sort the results using ORDER BY match ASC but for some reason it's just not for having it... Can't work out if it's an error with my php code or my table. I can order by "ID" no problem but I when I try ordering alphabetically by "match" it won't. my code is: Code: [Select] mysql_connect("***.***.***") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("database") or die(mysql_error()); $query = "SELECT * FROM employees WHERE flag = 'tv' ORDER BY match ASC"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die ("Query failed"); $numrows = (mysql_num_rows ($result)); // loop to create rows if($numrows >0){ echo "<table width = 100% border = '0' cellspacing = '2' cellpadding = '0' >"; // loop to create columns $position = 1; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ if($position == 1){echo "<tr>";} echo " <td align = 'center'><a href=\"http://www.website.eu/sport-stream/1/{$row['id']}.html\" target=_blank>{$row['match']} <br> <img src=\"{$row['8']}\" width=\"100\" height=\"70\" /> </a> </td> "; if($position == 4){echo "</tr> "; $position = 1;}else{ $position++;} }//while $end = ""; if($position != 1){ for($z=(4-$position); $z>0 ; $z--){ $end .= "<td></td>"; } $end .= "</tr>"; } echo $end."</table> "; }//if And here's a cap of my database: any help for a php n00b would be greatly appreciated! I got this code from a previous thread: Code: [Select] mysql_query("SET @rows = 0;"); $res = mysql_query("SELECT @rows:=@rows+1 AS view_rank,COUNT(id) AS views, credit_members_id FROM vtp_tracking GROUP BY credit_members_id ORDER BY views DESC"); $n = array(1 => 'st', 2 => 'nd', 3 => 'rd'); while($row = mysql_fetch_row($res)) { if ( $row[2] != $members_id ) continue; if ( substr($row[0], -1) < 4 ) { $row[0] .= $n[$row[0]]; } else { $row[0] .= 'th'; } echo ' You are in ' . $row[0] . ' place with ' . number_format($row[1]) . ' views.'; break; } Everything seems ok except it orders by the "credit_members_id" and not "views" as entered. Can someone explain why, and how to fix this? I need to make 0, which displays as POA appear at the ned of the list not at the begining, I currently just use order by price asc and 0 is at the beginning, i need to make 0 at the end I have a database of assorted. Each row contains defined QUANTITIES for each column item. Example: columns for shirt, tie, pants, socks. A row would indicate a purchase of 2 shirts, 1 tie, 0 pants, 3 socks for customer A. Followed by a row indicate a purchase of 1 shirts, 1 tie, 4 pants, 2 socks for customer B, etc. Now I want to sort EACH item, group them by quantity, and get an ordered list by quantity, that provides me with something like this: 1 shirt customer B 2 shirt customer C 3 shirt customer F 3 shirt customer H 4 shirt customer D, etc. I am using this code for my query: $query = "SELECT brisket, COUNT(brisket) FROM pass GROUP BY brisket ORDER BY brisket ASC"; but it is not organizing the info in a correlated manner. Help? Hi All, I have a 'Newspaper' in a game I'm coding. My plan was to have an edition every week and on average 15 articles a week. I would set this out like so. . Code: [Select] <? $select_paper=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM paper WHERE id=1"); while($the=mysql_fetch_object($select_paper)){ ?> <table width=100% class=table> <tr> <td> <td width=50% style=border: none; background-color: transparent; valign=top> <table border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 bordercolor=#000000 class='main' align=center> <tr> <td width=500 class='tableheading'><?php echo "$the->title"; ?><center> </center></td> </tr> <tr > <td class="profilerow" align=left><center><?php echo "$the->news"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr > <td class="subtableheader" align=left><center><?php echo "Article By $the->by - $the->date"; ?> </td> </tr> </table> <br> </td> <? } ?> With that repeated for 15 articles per edition. BUT! To save time, space and complication, I would rather do it using something like this. . Code: [Select] $select = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM paper WHERE edition=1 ORDER by id ASC"); $num = mysql_num_rows($select); Could someone tell me how to intergrate this with the layout tables as show in code #1? Thanks! Is it possible to use the PDO with a statement that has ORDER BY tablename. The program works fine but when I added the ORDER BY clause it outputted an error. Is it maybe because I set the fetch mode to PDO::FETCH_OBJ? Or is that irrelevant? This is the error that outputs: Code: [Select] Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'BY task_position' at line 1' in /tasks.php(38): PDO->query('SELECT * FROM t...') #1 tasks.php(57): tasks->grab_tasks('2') #2 {main} thrown in tasks.php on line 38 It normally worked without the ORDER BY. Here is my MYSQL call: $grabber = $this->pdo->query('SELECT * FROM tasks WHERE user_id = ' . $userid . "ORDER BY 'task_position'"); $grabber->setFetchMode(PDO::FETCH_OBJ); Hello, Am trying to get my records in ascending order from the database using 'ORDER BY' but they come randomly. What might be the problem? I'm pulling a list from a DB and inserting it in a drop down menu. Each item on the list has a numerical id associated called marketid in the DB. It works, but it orders the list alphabetically. I need it to order by marketid which is the column name. What code do I need to add? Here is what I have now.... <option value="<?=$market['marketid']?>"><?=$market['name']?></option> Thanks in advance all!! Tony I'm working on a simple ad server and would like to display the ads in order (not random). I'm fairly certain I can do something like this: Code: [Select] // Get the last ad id, or becomes 0 if not available $lastid = ($_GET['lastid'] == '') ? '0' : $_GET['lastid']; // Get the next ad in order, or get the first one available mysql_query("SELECT adcode FROM ads WHERE zone='$zoneid' AND id > $lastid ORDER BY id ASC LIMIT 1"); The above code would get the first ad or the next ad in order.. How do I go back to the beginning when I run out of ads to show? Hi all, I have a script that is essentially a log file of all preious versions of an article (versioning) You can see the script I am talking about in action at: http://danielrhyshardy.com/AWT/forumadmin.php What I would like to do is, instead of displaying the title of each instance (you will see there are two instances named "apple", as they are two previous versions of an article), I would like to display that title once, and then all of the instances of that title be displayed below. I hope that makes sense. Here is the code Code: [Select] <? $sql = "SELECT id,title,message,date_added FROM messages2 ORDER BY id "; $result = mysql_query($sql) or trigger_error(mysql_error(),E_USER_ERROR); while(list($id,$title,$message,$date_added)=mysql_fetch_row($result)){ echo '<div style="color:#bb0000;width:250px;text-align:center;float:left;margin-left:15px;margin-bottom:15px;padding-bottom:20px;"><b>'.$title.'<br>'.$date_added.'</b> <input id="'.$message.'" type="radio" name="admin[]" value="'.$id.'" onclick="javascript:document.form22.car.value=this.id" > </font></div>'."\n"; } ?> I would use something like Code: [Select] if ($title = "apple") { but this would obviously not work for new posts, unless I wanted to constantly update my code. I am sure there is a simple way to achieve this. Perhaps someone can tell me!? Thanks in advance Dan I posted this in mysql as well but maybe someone would know the php/mysql syntax to do this: How to re order records after a delete or move? I have table of navigational items. lets say under "about us" i have 5 sub links and i order them by a field called theorder. How can a re order them properly if one is deleted? orders are 1,2,3,4,5 and if i delete the record that is 3 then the order is 1,2,4,5 but i want it to now become 1,2,3,4. How do i do this properly? Thanks I'm just trying to see if the order of my logic is correct or if there's something I can do differently. I'm also curious to know at what point I should get the 2 passwords that exists in the database for the user. These are two different passwords. Code: [Select] function login_submit() { $this->form_validation->set_rules('username', 'Username', 'trim|required|xss_clean'); $this->form_validation->set_rules('password', 'Password', 'trim|required|xss_clean'); $this->form_validation->set_rules('remember', 'Remember me', 'integer'); $user_id = $this->users->get_user_id_by_username($this->input->post('username')); if ($user_id !== 0) { if ($this->kow_auth->is_max_login_attempts_exceeded($user_id)) { echo json_encode(array('error' => 'yes', 'message' => 'Your account is currently locked, we appologize for the inconvienence.
