PHP - Images Not Resizing On Upload
Hi
I am trying to resize images as they are uploaded. The problem I have is that the image is uploading and adding to the database, but is not resizing. Similar TutorialsI have code written for image uploading, but it doesn't allow multiple images on a single upload, and doesn't re-size. Anyone willing to share a good upload script that will do the following?: -Allow multiple image uploads (10+ per submission), -Re-size images on upload, and -Rename images. Thanks I am using Amazon's S3 service to allow users to upload images. Since you have to pay for this service, my plan was to resize all uploaded images (maybe to a max of 200 pixels wide or something) immediately before sending them to Amazon. I googled this and only thing I found said that "resizing on the fly is slow and expensive because disk space is cheaper than CPU." Is this accurate? Anyone have any thoughts on this? I feel like I have to restrict the size of images some way because I don't wan't people uploading huge 2000x2000 images. How can I store more image url's from input fields?
When I add more input fields..... move_uploaded_file(): uploads all images, but I don't know how to also add them in db?

I have a PHP script that uploads images to a folder on my server (attachments folder). Currently the folder sits within my webroot and is publicly accessible (I have to use chmod 777 due to permissions issue). So, I created the "attachments" folder outside of my webroot (so that it is not publicly accessible), but I do not know how to set the path in the PHP code to upload it to that "attachments" folder outside of the webroot. As you see in the snippet of PHP code below, the code currently uploads the the "attachments" folder within the www (webroot) directory. What are my options if I want people to be able to upload a full size image from their camera i.e. a 15-20mb 4000x3000px image and then have a thumbnail and something like 500px wide version for displaying on the site? The large unaltered original needs to be stored as well as it will be used for prints. Is this just not possible with PHP? Or is it down to needing a dedicated server? I want people to be able to post images on to my page but i want them to be able to add a caption when they post their image

I have a form that will be used to edit various fields including images. Everything works on this form except the images. When I choose the image i want to replace and upload the new image the location of the others get erased on the MySQL database and I'm just left with the one I replaced. How can I just change the image I pick to replace without erasing the location of the others? Is there a way just to tell the script to only replace the image that corresponds with the image selected?
