PHP - Question Menu

Hi,

I realise there is likely a very simple solution to this, but I'm pulling my hair out on it.

I have a menu.php file on my Intranet that (funnily enough) holds the site menu and is inserted via an include. This works fine. My question is, how can I make it pick up what page I am on in the site, and change the menu accordingly?

At the moment, with HTML (and before I changed the site to hold just one menu file), the menu looked like this:

As you can see, the class changes to "current". I want to be able to do it so that the central menu file can pick up what page the user is on, and mark the class as current.

Any suggestions?

I can't get the 'id' to pass. What am I doing wrong? I did another site fine, but here I messed something up.

I am trying to build a menu sing the code below, I can get the main headings, the problem arises when I try and produce the sub menus.

Hi i currenlty have adrop box filled with companies so the user can select which company they woudl like services from but the default is currently 0 and is to selecvt all firms but im unsure how to do this.

Hi, I have some code that I think worked at one point, but now it doesn't. I have a side navigation menu which I have set as an include. I want to change CSS styling to a current state to whatever page you are current on. For instance the portfolio link would look like this.

I can get the tree to display without the js but I need to add it to js due to the amount of entries and need to beable to collapse it.

The drop down menus work fine, but I'm having a little difficulty with the data that is being saved. For the 'detectors' drop down menu the data being saved upon a selection being made is the 'id' pertient to the relevant detector e.g. 'Detector1' is selected and the 'id' value of '1' is saved which is exactly what I want. However when it comes to the second drop down menu, the value saved is the text value that the user selects, rather than the 'id'. e.g. 'Deep Search Head ' rather than an 'id' of '1'. Could someone perhaps tell me please what I need to change so that the 'id' value is saved rather than the text value.

Hi i have a online/offline script that works great no issues at all. In order to change the html, php file to display when offline I need to point it to that file via input field. What i would like is to change the input filed and have a dropdown that list all the folders and subfolders within the the directory where all the templates are located. I have found a php snippet on the forum that does exactly what i want. The issue is now is to remove the input filed in the script and insert the snippet found here and thats where the issue comes. I'm trying to make my menu dynamic for example I will have a menu with it's submenus and when the user logs on the submenu account will then be shown where it wasn't shown before the user logged on.

Hi all, I was wondering if someone knows a clean way to make a dropdown menu using just php and html with the following functionality. If someone selects a value from the dropdown options it should be visible on refresh.
So in case a have a dropdown menu with: oranges, apples, grapes and someone selects grapes and submits it, grapes should be selected.

I have made someonthing but it looks redundant. I think there should be something with a foreach loop or something but i can't figure it out yet.

I want to add student from a dropdown list to database but I have some problem.

This is my select dropdown menu code

The output in the dropdown menu look something like this:

and so on...

After submitting the form, it will proceed to confirmation.php page.

At the confirmation page, I have the following variable:
$student_result = $_REQUEST['student_id'];
$name_result = $_REQUEST['student_name'];

I want to insert to database with the following insert query
$sql = "INSERT INTO student(student_id, student_name)
    VALUES ('". $student_result . "', '". $name_result ."')";
$insert = executeInsertQuery($sql);

It can insert successfully but, it will not insert the student_name.

May I know where I did wrongly?

Okay, so, here's the scenario.

I have a form that is editing an item that is already in the database. The text fields fill in just fine with that info. However, the drop down menus don't retrieve that info, rather resorting to the defaults, which can be a problem if you don't remember what you originally had.

Is there anyway to make the dropdown menus pull the info from the table and use that rather than resorting back to the default?

I tried using this:
