PHP - 3column Display With Multiple Variables
hello i have built a webpage using tables.

My first file (index.php) calls an ajax request for (display.php) and sends a few variables to it. All fine so far. display.php then does its thing and displays the content on index.php as it should. Now in display.php I need a variable to be passed back to index.php for use in a menu. I've tried setting a session variable in display.php but unfortunately this doesn't seem to work. I also can't use get or post as I don't want to refresh the page. Really scratching my head over this one! Hi, I want to send the following variable using the $_GET function: I have a form with multiple options to fill out (its a admin form) i want to make sure only one of the of the options are set, so im checking if the variable is empty with if ($variable1 != NULL) { $new_variable = "yep, this option was filled out"; } so if the form sent anything from the form with the value 'variable1' it then sets a new variable ($new_variable) Problem is i have multiple fields so i need to make sure if it finds a a variable is not empty, then too check if the others have anything in them too. I have a webpage that I am working on that is now in construction mode. The url is: https://localbizseek.com/lbs/index6 The problem is that I want to it to be able to search 2 at the same time in the phpmyadmin database table which is named "places". I also want to be able to get to search all 9 cities for that area. There are a total of 36,000+ cities in the database. However, I want it to be able to search just 2 or 9 specific cities of those cities. Each city has a city_id which is an integer assigned to it in the database Right now it will search only 1 city at a time or it will search every city in the database if I assign the search variable as "" or "0". I don't know what to do on this page to solve it and on the related processing page. You will notice that I have tried "3;1" up under the Ches & VB Select Option but that doesn't work because it will not work that way. I can have it as "3 1" but then it just displays 1 which is VB's information. I've tried everything possible and it won't search both variables. In examle above it will be 68 (mark percentage for 1st module) + 62 (mark percentage for 2nd module) / 2 (number of modules in the course). So the Course Mark should equal 65. The problem is that all of the calculations are in the foreach loop but where the course details and where the course marks are going to be placed are in the while loop. So the problem is that if the total Course Mark (lets say we call in $totalCourse) is displayed in the while loop it will provide an undifined index as the calculation will be placed with the other calculations in the foreach loop which is outside the while loop, if I do the calculation with in the while loop, it will only choose the 1st module mark percentage and divdie it by the first module only, this is obviously incorrect as it sohuld try and do this for all modules hence why my calculations are in the foreach loop which does this. So how will change the code so that the course details can go from the while loop and be placed in the foreach loop so then I can include the calculation in the foreach loop. For debug purposes, I want to see all (each and every possible) variables from a website visitor, e.g. I know how to save the info in a database, I might even have the info emailed to myself, I just can't remember the "one-liner" I used to use to capture this info. Thank you in advance!
Suppose I have two versions of the same website; one American and one Canadian. This site has members with profiles etc. The way my site is written, I think that if someone were to login to their account on, say, the American site, then a session variable would indicate that a user is logged in on the client machine. Now if they visit the "profile" page, for example, or some other members-only page ON THE CANADIAN SITE, and start manipulating data etc., then this would affect the databases for the Canadian site, and everything would get screwed up (actually, I think mysql would just start spitting out errors, but that's not good either). Does anyone have some simple way to deal this this kind of thing? I don't really know exactly how session variables work. Say I have two domains, somepage.com and somepage.ca on the same server/DNS. If a page on somepage.com sets a session variable called $_SESSION['somevar'], and a page on somepage.ca also sets a variable called $_SESSION['somevar'], are the two variables somehow distinct because they are on different domains? Like, if somepage.com sets the variable, then somepage.ca check if the variable is set, what will happen? What if I wanted to set up the two pages in subfolders, like somepage.com/us and somepage.com/ca, how would I deal with distinguish session variables for the two sites? Is one approach (i.e. distinct domains vs subfolders) better than the other? Thanks, Hi All, I'm quite new to this PHP stuff and have been creating a site just for the hell of it really but i have a rather bizarre problem that has been driving me nuts for about a week... I have two drops downs, the first gives a list of teams from a mysql table and then this populates the next drop down with a list of players from the selected team.. so far so good. When I hit the select/submit button to select the player, what should happen is both the "team" and "player" are put into another query which gives the stats on the selected player for all the games that he has played in. however, what actually happens in the Session variable sets the "team" variable to blank. I can see this happening when I use Print_r ($_SESSION); So essentially when I click on either submit button from my drop down forms the other value is being removed from the Session array. Oh, the session is still valid (not being destroyed and replaced with another session). Then, if they aren't, I want to execute a mySQL query. I did a quick Google and found that checking if the variables are null wouldn't be the correct way of solving this situation because an "empty string" is still not null? If run this query... Code: [Select] SELECT response FROM answer WHERE member_id = 1; ...then I would get TEN RECORDS back and I don't know of any way to maps those to the 10 Text Boxes on the "My Thoughts" page?! (It would be a real PITA to have to create 10 separate Prepared Queries in PHP - one for each Field - to fill out my page?!)
