PHP - Accessing User Specific Information From A Mysql Database
Hi,
I have created a session based logon system using php and MYSQL from some tutorials I found online which is working very successfully. I can log on and of and move through different pages with no problems. My query is how do I output or display the information that is specific to the user which is currently logged on and block access to any other users information. I am quite sure there is a simple solution that is escaping me. If you could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Similar TutorialsHi this is what I have set up - SQL tables - Members - memberid - primary key Username Password Orders - Orderid - primary key memberid - foreign key orderno In my sql table there are two members and two orders. 1 order is assigned to 1 member and the other order to the other member. After each member logs in I need to 'echo' that order on the page. I've not been able to write any succesful php code that 'gets' the specific order that is related to the member that has signed in. I would appreciate help on this! Thanks I Have a protected members section on my site for staff. I would like it so that information specific to that member of staff would appear on their homepage straight after login. Just basic information that is stored on a MySQL database so they can login and check appointments and clients etc for the week etc. is this something that is possible to do in PHP and MySQL? or am I going mad? At the moment I have the entire table on the members homepage and the only way I've figured out to specify a member to only show one users information is to use - (SELECT * FROM Tutors WHERE name = 'XXX'. I don't like this method as it would mean i would have to have a separate files for each member. I was hoping I could do something along the lines of - WHERE name = ' relative to the login name used'. but I am sure I am flogging a dead horse here. So many websites do this kind of thing and I'm surprised after scouring the net for hours and hours that I haven't found any useful information or tutorials on the subject. I am fairly new to programming in PHP and MySQL and am only just getting to grips with the lingo. Maybe I've just been seacrhing the wrong thing, I don't Know. Any help at all would be amazing and much appreciated, a nudge in the right direction would be a start as I'm getting nowhere on my own THANKS This topic has been moved to Application Design. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=347193.0 This script works well as far as getting the form information onto the database but for some reason the confirmation email is not being sent to the user. Could someone take a quick look at my script? Please? I've attached the included files as well. I guess I just need another set of eyes to look over this script. It would be much appreciated <?php // Created BY Adam Khoury @ www.developphp.com // let's initialize vars to be printed to page in the HTML section so our script does not return errors // they must be initialized in some server environments $errorMsg = ""; $firstname = ""; $lastname = ""; $country = ""; $state = ""; $city = ""; $zip = ""; $website = ""; $youtube = ""; $email1 = ""; $email2 = ""; $pass1 = ""; $pass2 = ""; // This code runs only if the form submit button is pressed if (isset ($_POST['firstname'])){ /* Example of cleaning variables in a loop $vars = ""; foreach ($_POST as $key => $value) { $value = stripslashes($value); $vars .= "$key = $value<br />"; } print "$vars"; exit(); */ $firstname = $_POST['firstname']; $lastname = $_POST['lastname']; $country = $_POST['country']; $state = $_POST['state']; $city = $_POST['city']; $zip = $_POST['zip']; $website = $_POST['website']; $youtube = $_POST['youtube']; $email1 = $_POST['email1']; $email2 = $_POST['email2']; $pass1 = $_POST['pass1']; $pass2 = $_POST['pass2']; $humancheck = $_POST['humancheck']; $firstname = stripslashes($firstname); $lastname = stripslashes($lastname); $state = stripslashes($state); $city = stripslashes($city); $zip = stripslashes($zip); $website = stripslashes($website); $youtube = stripslashes($youtube); $email1 = stripslashes($email1); $pass1 = stripslashes($pass1); $email2 = stripslashes($email2); $pass2 = stripslashes($pass2); $firstname = strip_tags($firstname); $lastname = strip_tags($lastname); $state = strip_tags($state); $city = strip_tags($city); $zip = strip_tags($zip); $website = strip_tags($website); $youtube = strip_tags($youtube); $email1 = strip_tags($email1); $pass1 = strip_tags($pass1); $email2 = strip_tags($email2); $pass2 = strip_tags($pass2); // Connect to database include_once "connect_to_mysql.php"; $emailCHecker = mysql_real_escape_string($email1); $emailCHecker = eregi_replace("`", "", $emailCHecker); // Database duplicate e-mail check setup for use below in the error handling if else conditionals mysql_select_db("perry100_users", $myConnection); $sql_email_check = mysql_query("SELECT email FROM myMembers WHERE email='$emailCHecker'", $myConnection); $email_check = mysql_num_rows($sql_email_check);// or die(mysql_error()); // Error handling for missing data if ((!$firstname) || (!$lastname) || (!$country) || (!$state) || (!$city) || (!$zip) || (!$email1) || (!$email2) || (!$pass1) || (!$pass2)) { $errorMsg = 'ERROR: You did not submit the following required information:<br /><br />'; if(!$firstname){ $errorMsg .= ' * First Name<br />'; } if(!$lastname){ $errorMsg .= ' * Last Name<br />'; } if(!$country){ $errorMsg .= ' * Country<br />'; } if(!$state){ $errorMsg .= ' * State or Provice<br />'; } if(!$city){ $errorMsg .= ' * City<br />'; } if(!$zip){ $errorMsg .= ' * Postal or Zip Code<br />'; } if(!$email1){ $errorMsg .= ' * Email Address<br />'; } if(!$email2){ $errorMsg .= ' * Confirm Email Address<br />'; } if(!$pass1){ $errorMsg .= ' * Login Password<br />'; } if(!$pass2){ $errorMsg .= ' * Confirm Login Password<br />'; } } else if ($email1 != $email2) { $errorMsg = 'ERROR: Your Email fields below do not match<br />'; } else if ($pass1 != $pass2) { $errorMsg = 'ERROR: Your Password fields below do not match<br />'; } else if ($humancheck != "") { $errorMsg = 'ERROR: The Human Check field must be cleared to be sure you are human<br />'; } else if ($email_check > 0){ $errorMsg = "<u>ERROR:</u><br />Your Email address is already in use inside our database. I'm a newbie so sorry if this isn't the best forum to post my problem.
I am using a MySQL and PHP to create a web app. I have authentication, and I can register users. I also have a form that users provide information and it is successfully inserting data into a table in my database.
I will use fictional fields for my database table called meal_info:
username
dateStartedDiet
numberMealsPerDay
costPerMeal
Problem: Select user-specific data from the MySQL database, using Session username to select only the current user's data, then display it and do some calculations.
Here is thecode at the top, and I am fairly sure it's working:
session_start(); //execute commone code
require("common.php"); //includes code to connect to database, etc.
if(empty($_SESSION['user'])) Hello,
First of all I'd like to say thank you for all the great information on the forums, I've been reading a lot on here lately.
I've started to make a website where users can log in and submit items to a database, which is then displayed on another page.
If Tom and Bill both post 10 items, all 20 items will be displayed on the "listings" page, however on the main log in screen Tom will only see his own 10 items and Bill will see his own 10 items.
This is all working perfectly, however, I now need to add a delete button so that they can delete specific items.
I have loosely followed this tutorial here to get the table to display as I want it (amongst a few other things, such as the user logins) http://www.wickham43...mphptomysql.php
I've added the delete button in the PHP loop for each row, I just can't figure out how to delete the specific row when clicked.
Any help would be really appreciated

I'm a PHP/MySQL beginner and I really need some help.
I have a small script that I am using for sending SMS. I recently added a phonebook. The problem with the phonebook right now is that it's available to all users, i.e. they can all update and delete all rows. What I would like to do is make it so that each user can update and delete only their own contacts.
I have a table call contacts. Inside that table there is first name, last name, company and phonenumber.
How can I accomplish this with PHP & MySQL?
CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `contacts` ( `contact_id` int(10) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `firstname` varchar(255) NOT NULL, `lastname` varchar(255) NOT NULL, `company` varchar(255) NOT NULL, `cell_no` text NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`contact_id`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=8 ; CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `users` ( `user_id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `users_name` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `uname` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `u_pass` varchar(60) NOT NULL, `utype` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `timezone` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `uapi_user` varchar(30) NOT NULL, `uapi_pass` varchar(60) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`user_id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=20 ; <?php if (isset($_POST['submit'])){ //form has been submitted1 $firstname = trim($_POST['firstname']); $lastname = trim($_POST['lastname']); $company = trim($_POST['company']); $cellno = trim($_POST['cell_no']); if($firstname == ''){ echo '<div class="alert alert-danger">First Name is not Valid!</div>'; exit; }elseif($lastname == ''){ echo '<div class="alert alert-danger">Last Name is not Valid!</div>'; exit; }elseif($company == ''){ echo '<div class="alert alert-danger">Company is not Valid!</div>'; exit; }elseif($cellno == ''){ echo '<div class="alert alert-danger">Cellphone Number is not Valid!</div>'; exit; }else{ $query = "Select cell_no from contacts where cell_no = '".$cellno."' Lets say, User wants to find the Electrical workers in QLD, then he will select Yes for Electrical and QLD as Main Location and the other items he would not touch. Now, how can I include only those two values in the select clause. Say, Select Electrical, Main Location from table where Main location='QLD'. I used POST method to gather users input. I use PHP, MySQL for this project. Any ideas on how to achieve this. Regards Sandeep Hi. I was asked to make a portal to facilitate access information of the company. There are databases in MSSQL and Oracle, and products made in PHP. NET and access to two different server files via network shares. Also as a facilitator wanted access to the files (default documents) on the local machines of users. I've done something, but now I'm locked in for remote access client machines. Is there any way to do this in PHP? and using another type of language? I have created a button which when pressed should present the user with their details (whoever is logged in), here is the form code: <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="getdetails.php"> <input type="submit" name="Get Details" value="Get Details" /> </label> </p> </form> Here is the getdetails.php file <?php mysql_connect("localhost","root",""); mysql_select_db("test"); $username = $_POST['textfield']; echo '</br>'; $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM membersdetails WHERE name=`$username` "); while($result = mysql_fetch_array($query)) { //display echo $result['firstname']; echo $result['surname']; } ?> Its not workin at all I have attacthed the error i am getting Any help please? hi i had database with field of name,title,post,content i want to fetch the post and content for a specific user from giving name of that user by form help me to get that ps just give me idea to how to do that/ Code: [Select] <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="view.php"> <label>Name <input type="text" name="textfield" /> </label> <p> <label> <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit" /> </label> </p> </form> hi, i have made a website where people resgister their details of them and products. they have to enter the following details in form Name of company name of the product company address email id password mobile number contact and brief details about their company
user can then login with email id and pwd. now after login ..user will get a page where he can upload the photos of products images and their price, so now my question is that when he finishes uploading (|by clicking on upload button) the product images and price text box ..then on final uploaded webspage it should show all other things which he registerd before (company name , mobile number etc) along with images and price...hence the main question that user does not need to enter mobile and address while uploading images and filling proce ..but on the final page it should show mobile and address along with price and images..as user is not going to enter mobile and address again and again as he will have multiple products to upload.
Am a newbie in php. Since I can't insert values to the database with respect to a user Id or with any other token using WHERE clause. I.e "INSERT INTO receipts(date) VALUES(example) where id="**....." If I need to fetch several values of column for a particular user, how do I go about it? Thank you!!! I have defined my database connection data as constants in a separate file for security reasons. How can I simply access the data stored in those constants. I have to call the file to get the value of the constants. If I inadvertently call the file twice in a script using an include or require statement, I get an error that I am trying to define the constants again. Can I somehow just call the constants without including the file where they are defined? --Kenoli How to configure the server to restrict a user from accessing the directory structure, by changing the URL? for example: if the server redirects the user to the following URL upon successful login. http://mysite/dir1/dir2/dir3/phpfile.php currently, if i try change the URL to http://mysite/dir1/ even though there is no index webpage for dir1/, the directory structure gets exposed. how do i go about restricting the user from accessing the directory structure and throw an error message at him like "you are not authorised to view this", whenever a "smarty-pants" user tries to edit the URL manually. The user should only be able to see the webpages which the server redirects him to. nothing else. How to configure the PHP server such that, if the URL is modified manually, server should redirect to an error page instead of exposing the directory structure. Can somebody help me what i'm doing wrong? The value from database is not visible when using: <?php $artikel = new Artikel(); $content= $artikel->printArtikel(); echo $content; ?> <?php class Artikel { // db connection protected $mydb; // database value protected $land; public function __construct($artikelnummer = false) { // databaseconnection: $this->mydb = new MyDB(); if($artikelnummer) { $this->load($artikelnummer); } else // load everything from database. { $sql = "SELECT * FROM artikel"; $this->mydb->doQuery($sql); $this->mydb->close(); } } public function load($artikelnummer) { $sql = "SELECT * FROM artikel"; $this->mydb->doQuery($sql); if($artikel = $this->mydb->fetch()) { // i got a feeling there is something missing here, like query from database?? } $this->mydb->close(); } public function printArtikel() { // return database value as table. $html = "<table border='1'>"; $html .= "<tr> <td>".$this->land."</td> </tr>"; $html .= "</table>"; return $html; } } ?> Other class are accessing extern. For example database connection with class MyDB. please, can somebody correct my script?? Hey everyone, I'm creating a website which requires users to login. I didn't want to have to do my own crypto, so I basically created it with Wordpress. I'm at the point where I don't want to use Wordpress for the whole site--just the login system. So I was wondering how I can piggyback off the user management system of Wordpress while using my own script for the rest of the site. I know that Wordpress ends up storing passwords in the database as HMACs, for what that's worth. Thank you, Ryan This is a bit of a wierd problem, but I haven't been able to solve it so I thought I'd post it up here. Basically, I'm using the following function to access Maxmind's GEO IP database (so that I can target visitors to my site based on their location): <?php // This code demonstrates how to lookup the country by IP Address include("geoip.inc"); // Uncomment if querying against GeoIP/Lite City. // include("geoipcity.inc"); $gi = geoip_open("/home/bounce6/public_html/geoIP/GeoIP.dat",GEOIP_STANDARD); $ip=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $country=geoip_country_code_by_addr($gi, "$ip"); geoip_close($gi); ?> The function is being called using this line from a separate file: include "/home/username/public_html/mydomain.com/functions/getCountry.php"; Now the code does what it's supposed to do, in as far as it's able to give me a string which details where a visitor is located. However, for some strange reason it seems to be adding a new HTML tag into my existing header tag. The code which has been inserted is as follows: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> </body> </html> I've managed to isolate the problem to this script, so I know that there must be an issue with it, but I'm not quite sure what it is. Can anyone suggest why this extra source code is being produced? Is there a particular function that I'm using which is forcing additional headers or something?! Any thoughts would be really appreciated! I am coding a php website and i have everything ready to start on the user interface, but now it wont get the data from the login to get data from the database. I added some debugging code in to see if it even gets a session and it doesn't even get one, can someone please help me and tell me what i am doing wrong?.
