PHP - Fairly Simple Regex Question
Hi Guys. This should- hopefully- be a pretty simple question for someone with regex experience to answer. I've been reading all the regex guides and tried various things but none have worked and I'm starting to get a headache. I've decided to just pitch the question here.
How do I test if a string contains ONLY a certain character- but could be one or more instances of that character. In this case it's a comma. So: ',' -> Would return TRUE ',,,' -> Would return TRUE ',,,,,,,' -> Would return TRUE ',,,hello,' -> Would return FALSE 'hi,,,' -> Would return FALSE Thanks in advance! Similar TutorialsI just want to know how to create a global variable from within a function. The reason I want to do this is I'm making mysql queries that may or may not have data in a function, if the data does indeed exist, I want to declare variables at that point. My queries are grouped logically by year/month, and as a result I'm going to be appending data to existing variables if they exist so it makes more sense to just append it to what would be the global variable anyways instead of just passing large strings out of the function to just be appended anyways -- plus it prevents me from creating a bunch of pointless variables. I intend additionally take the variables created inside the function and then store them in an encompassing global array (pre-defined outside of function) and at the end of the script do a foreach through it so I can iterate through the variables to grab my data knowing that there won't be pointless crap in there. I'm trying to create global variables by using variable variables ($$whichever). The code giving me issues inside the function is just like this: Code: [Select] function SeekAndAppend ($vars, $being, $passed) { global $$whatever; // Trying to define it here global $array; // Calling predefined $array $array[] = "$$whatever"; // Passing just created global to the array for iteration later } When I iterate through the array the expected name of what would be the global variable name is there, but the global variable itself does not exist -- just at the function level. If someone has a recommendation on a better way to do it, I'll listen, but please don't turn it into a lecture. EDIT: Grammar & Clarity Given the below rules and following browser input: user/joe/x I think this is a simple question, but I'm just starting out and can't figure out how to do this exactly. I'm making a demo site for a flower shop. The structure is as such (only listing the particular files in question - once this is done, the rest will be easy) index.php -> inc_show_colors.php -> showColors.php The index is to be standard through the site, loading include files into a main content area. Clicking on a link loads inc_by_color.php (index.php -> index.php?page=by_color ) From there, one of the four colors is selected. showColors.php contains switch statements for each color. I want to load showColors.php into the main content window when a color is selected, and I need to have it work for all four colors. I'm not sure how to do this, as you can't pass a variable to an include from what I understand. What's the easiest way to go about this? Keep in mind this is an intro class and "best practices" are not necessary yet, just the simplest solution to get it working. I want each of these colors to link to another include file, which will load in its place in index.php. index.php: Code: [Select] <div id="maincontent"> <?php if (isset($_GET['page'])) { switch ($_GET['page']) { case 'by_color': include('includes/inc_by_color.php'); break; case 'by_type': include('includes/inc_by_type.php'); break; case 'by_occasion': include('includes/inc_by_occasion.php'); break; case 'view_cart': include('includes/inc_view_cart.php'); break; case 'payment_options': include('includes/inc_payment_options.php'); break; case 'home_page': default: include('includes/inc_home.php'); break; } } else include('includes/inc_home.php'); ?> </div> inc_by_color.php: The first link I tried doing in the way I thought would work, but it doesn't. It can't find the include file. The second one works, kind of - but it just loads the page by itself, not into the maincontent div in index.php. Code: [Select] <h1>Flowers Categorized by Color</h1> <div class="picdivcontainer"> <div class="picdiv"><a href="index.php?page=red"><img src="images/image.png" width="90" height="90" alt="Red Flowers" /> <p>Red</a></p></div> <div class="picdiv"><a href="showColors.php?color=white"><img src="images/image.png" width="90" height="90" alt="White Flowers" /></a> <p><a href="showColors.php?color=white">White</a></p></div> </div> and showColors.php: Code: [Select] if (isset($_GET['color'])) { switch ($_GET['color']) { case 'red': $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM flowers WHERE color='red'") or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array( $result )) { // Set and trim strings and show the resulting flowers from query $flowername = $row['name']; $flowerimage = $row['image']; $image_path = "images/"; $flowername = str_replace('_', ' ', $flowername); $flowername = ucwords($flowername); ?> <div class="picdiv"><p><?php echo $flowername."<br />"; $flowerimage = str_replace(' ', '_', $flowerimage); echo "<img src='images/" . $row['image'] . "' />"; ?></p></div> <?php } break; I realize that showColors.php is probably a really messy way of doing this, but I just need to get it functioning ASAP for now. Hi guys, I would normally research this myself, but I am in a hurry just now. My question is - how would I take a string like: "Customer Name" or "Product Cost Price" and produce a result where all upper case letters are made lower case and all spaces replaced by under-scores. Like this: "Customer Name" would become "customer_name", and "Product Cost Price" would become "product_cost_price" Many thanks for any swift help, S Hi guys, this function below is for card validation, however anycard i enter i get the invalid card number, this is not connected to any gateways, this is just an Luhn card validation demonstration. can you tell me please why i get that? <?php if ($_POST['pay']) { $cardNo = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['cardNo'])); function luhnCheck($cardNo) { $cardNo = str_replace(" ", "", trim($cardNo)); if(!is_numeric($cardNo) or strlen($cardNo)>19) return false; $skip = $newNum = $total = 0; for($i=0;$i<=(strlen($cardNo)-1);$i++) { if($skip ==0) { $tmpNum = ($cardNo[$i]*2); $total += (strlen($tmpNum)==2 ? (substr($tmpNum, 0, 1)+substr($tmpNum, 1)) : $tmpNum); $skip = 1; }else{ $total += $cardNo[$i]; $skip = 0; } } return (($total % 10) == 0); } /* Example Usage */ if(luhnCheck($_GET['cc'])) { echo("Valid Number."); }else{ echo("Invalid Number."); } } ?> <form name="confirm" method="post" action=""> <input type="text" name="cardNo"> <input type="submit" name="pay" value="Pay Now"> </form> I know it could be a issue with this line if(luhnCheck($_GET['cc'])) { but im wondering where should and how put this cc in my form? regards Hello everyone! I am a new user and I have a simple question. How do I set a password for a user to log in to my site with PHP? I have no MySQL database just a iOS code/host app. I know this isn’t secure but only me and my friends are on the site. Any help is appreciated. Hello to everyone I would like to ask for this simple question.. Im trying to put if and else condition on my php code. However this condition is not working.. Code: [Select] if($file == #3#){ echo "No results found"; }else{ echo "results has been found"; } This variable $file is the result after i used an API.. If the API does not see any results they would return #3# as the result. This means they returned a transaction code of 3 which you can see here http://developer.textapp.net/WebService/TransactionCodes.aspx means that there was nothing to return. The condition does not function well even if i make 3 or #3# as part of the condition. Can you help me guys? thanks Hello there fellow programmers, I was just wondering if there was any difference between doing this: Code: [Select] echo "Say Something Here"; and this Code: [Select] echo "Say "; echo "Something "; echo "Here"; Thank you in advance. Notice: I am aware of the fact that they will output the same thing, my question is regarding resources. I've seen this, Code: [Select] <?php } ?> in a lot of scripts at the very end of the script. What does this piece of code do? Hey! I have a drop down field for my "register" form, but this is clearly easy to edit, I just used tamperdata for firefox and yeah...pretty easy, is there any way that you could prevent tampering with the values when submitting this form!? I'm teaching myself php and mysql -- and my coding is a little rough. But what i'm trying to do is display information from a mysql table in another table on a website. I can do this just fine simply displaying the table, but i want a little something different. I am only displaying one column of the table, instead of displaying it all in one column, i want to display the information in 5 columns. for example..... the table from mysql has names scott, john, james, mary, simon. with the code I have i can make it display like this: scott scott scott scott scott john john john john john james james james james james mary mary mary mary mary simon simon simon simon simon i want it to diplay like this: scott john james mary simon new names will continue down here is my code: <?php require ("connectigb.php"); $result = mysql_query ("SELECT pledgeName FROM pledgewall"); $fields_num = mysql_num_fields($result); echo "<center> <h1>TSA It Gets Better Pledge Wall</h1>"; echo "<table border='1' align='center' style='width:960px;'><tr>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<tr>"; // $row is array... foreach( .. ) puts every element // of $row to $cell variable foreach($row as $cell) if ($cell != "") { for ($j=0; $j<5; $j++) { echo "<td>$cell</td>"; } } echo "</tr>\n"; } mysql_free_result($result); echo "</table></center>"; ?> any ideas on what i can do here, i'm sure this is a simply fix. i just haven't come across it yet. thanks for the help in advance. Lets say I have: $var=5; What would an output look like to get me: 1<br> 2<br> 3<br> 4<br> 5<br> Im at a complete loss! Thanks! Hi, I'm working on a product page and I got it to list all the products in one column of a table, but when I add a second column it just duplicates the first column. What do I need to change? Code: [Select] <?php require_once("functions.php"); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> td { border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; border-top-color: #30C; border-right-color: #30C; border-bottom-color: #30C; border-left-color: #30C; } </style> </head> <body> <form action="" method="post" name="catalog"> <?php DatabaseConnection(); $query = "SELECT * FROM treats"; $result_set = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); $output = "<table>"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result_set)) { $output .= (" <tr> <td width=\"400px\">" . $row['product_title']."<br /> ".$row['product_Description']."<br />" .$row['price'] . "<br /> Quantity: <input name=\"quantity\" type=\"text\" size=\"2\" /> </td> <td width=\"400px\">" . $row['product_title']."<br /> ".$row['product_Description']."<br />" .$row['price'] . "<br /> Quantity: <input name=\"quantity\" type=\"text\" size=\"2\" /> </td> </tr> "); } $output .= "</table>"; echo $output; ?> </form> </body> </html> what does the # symbol do in php(e.x index.php?cat=1#privacy)? How can i use it? From what i 've seen you use it for changing a whole div without reloading the page like tabs.. |
