PHP - Show Error To The Side Of The Input Feild (form)
Hi all,
Having a (probably basic) problem here, and as much as I have read about it, I still don't understand. I have a basic form in a page called book.php which upon submit calls sendmail.php to email me the details. Everything works as it should, including my current error handler, which is as follows. Code: [Select] elseif (empty($name) || empty($number) || empty($profexp) || empty($nonprofexp)) { header( "Expires: Mon, 20 Dec 1998 01:00:00 GMT" ); header( "Last-Modified: " . gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s") . " GMT" ); header( "Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate" ); header( "Pragma: no-cache" ); ?> <html> <head><title>Error</title></head> <body> Error <p> Oops, it appears you forgot to fill in all of your details. Please press the BACK button in your browser and try again. </p> </body> </html> <?php } This is fine, but what I would prefer is a seperate error for each user input section. So, for example, when the user does not enter anything in the $name feild and presses submit, the book.php page is displayed with the error message to the right of the text box. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Similar TutorialsIm trying to make my form remember the last input made by user, so I wrote the following and I get a syntax error on the input line. The error is: Parse error: parse error, expecting `T_STRING' or `T_VARIABLE' or `T_NUM_STRING' in C:\wamp\www\ezsynonym\index.php on line 90 Code: [Select] <form id="searchform" method="post" action="index.php"> <input id="input" name="synonymsearch" type="text" value="<?php echo $_POST['synonymsearch']; ?>" maxlength="400px" /> </form> TIA Hi i want to make a form LIST that automaticly gets the content "orderid" to choose for editing. can i please get a pointing pin on which function(s) to use ? i have tried with: Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM {$table} WHERE 'ordreid'"); if (!$result) { die("Query to show fields from table failed"); } echo($result); $i = 0; while($i<mysql_num_fields($result)) { $meta=mysql_fetch_field($result,$i); echo $i.".".$meta->name."<br />"; $i++; } like i want to get this part: <option>first item in field orderid</option> <option>2'nd item in field orderid</option> and so on...i know its easy but i have struggled wit this enough now. Hi, I have made a basic html site and it has two forms on it. I have the forms linking to a file called process.php. Basically i need to know what code to put in the php file in order for the forms to save whatever is entered in them to a txt file on my server or computer. Or any other easier way to do the same thing, save the content of two forms on my site. Hope i posted this in the right forum subject. Thanks very much for anyone that helps. Hi, I have this script which does what it is meant to do. I have assigned session_id() to the variable $sid so I can use it when logging in to a users account, however I get this error. How do I get around this? Warning: Unknown: Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in Unknown on line 0 As this is going to be installed on many servers, I do not want to have to edit the php.ini file on each one so as not to get this error. Is there an alternative way to assign the session_id() as so $sid = session_id(); so this doesnt happen? You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset. They only apply to horizontal menu bars: MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'. * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden. * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule. We follow this with the single-class rule that it would * mistakenly override, making sure the misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins. * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support. * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script. * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. I have a web portal which is scripted using client side scripting language i.e HTML. I want to create a login page in .php and want the other pages to be in .hmtl. Can i do so? I want to do this because i want the login password to be stored in a database. Also I want the password to get encrypted (by either MD5 javascript or OpenSSL ) when user enters it inside the login form. I cannot create the entire portal in php because my portal makes use of C code. And php doesn't have an interface with C language. Can a user get directed to a .html page after a secure login from login.php page ? My main aim is to secure the access to my web portal using a password. I tried to authenticate the login using javascript where the password was stored in an array. But i feel any one having moderate knowledge can easily break that password. How do I catch when a user enters one of the existing folders directly on the URL bar and display appropriate message? For example: /var/www/html/mypage/ will show /var/www/html/mypage/index.php which is desired. Good. /var/www/html/mypage/pictures .... I don't want them to access this folder directly, so I want to show no permission error. /var/www/html/mypage/hogehoge ... I want to show file(s) not found error. /var/www/html/mypage/some_existing_and_valid_file.php/hogehoge I want to show file(s) not found error. I want to edit httpd.conf. All I know now is how to disable directory listing and disable or enable a specific folder. I am trying to find a generic solution. Working environment: CentOS 7, PHP 5.6 Someone with knowledge and experience, please give me some guidance. Thanks! I designed a php page if current time is greater than end time it show as closed else it show data entry form. In that form I have several input boxes some get value from database.remain input boxes accept value less than their pair input box.else it show error and focus user to change that field how ... I tried with following code but cannot get expected result... Any solution... <?php include("head.php"); ?> <?php $end = ('04:15:00 PM'); $now=date('H:i:s A');?> <?php $newdateformat = date("d_m_y"); $ttaerr=""; mysql_select_db($mysql_database,$bd); $se_sql=mysql_query("select * from $newdateformat where S_No='$login_sess' "); $row=mysql_fetch_array($se_sql); $name=$row['S_Name']; $address=$row['Address']; $tamil= $row['Tamil1']; $english=$row['English1']; $maths= $row['Maths1']; ?> <label> Your Name : <?php echo $login_sess;?> - <?php echo $name;?> - <?php echo $address;?> </label><br /> <?php if($end > $now){ echo "Entry 1 Closed :"; } else { ?> <form id='form1' name='form1' method='post' action='<?php echo htmlspecialchars($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']);?>'>' <p> <label for='tamil1'>Tamil 1 : </label> <input name='tamil1' type='text' id='tamil1' value='<?php echo $tamil;?>' readonly="readonly" disabled="disabled"/> </p> <p> <label for='tamil2'>Tamil 2 : </label> <input name='tamil2' type='text' id='tamil2' maxlength="3" required='required' /> <?php echo $ttaerr;?> </p> <p> <label for='tamil1'>English 1 : </label> <input type='text' name='english1' id='english1' value='<?php echo $english;?>' readonly="readonly" disabled="disabled"/> </p> <p> <label for='tamil2'>English 2 : </label> <input type='text' name='english2' id='english2' required='required' maxlength="3" /> </p> <p> <label for='tamil1'>Maths 1 : </label> <input type='text' name='maths1' id='maths1' value='<?php echo $maths;?>' readonly="readonly" disabled="disabled" /> </p> <p> <label for='tamil2'>Maths 2 : </label> <input type='text' name='maths2' id='maths2' required='required' maxlength="3" /> </p> <p> </p> <p> <input type='submit' name='submit' id='submit' value='Submit' /> </p> </form> <?php if($_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD']=="POST") { if(isset($_POST['tamil1'])&&isset($_POST['tamil2'])&&isset($_POST['english1'])&&isset($_POST['english2'])&&isset($_POST['maths1'])&&($_POST['maths2'])) { $newta1=$_POST['tamil1']; $newta2=$_POST['tamil2']; $newen1=$_POST['english1']; $newen2=$_POST['english2']; $newma1=$_POST['maths1']; $newma2=$_POST['maths2']; if(($newta1 > $newta2)&&($newen1 > $newen2)&&($newma1 > $newma2)) { $sql="UPDATE $newdateformat SET Time='$now',Tamil2='newta2',English2='$newen2',Maths2='$newma2' WHERE S_NO='$login_sess' and S_Name='$name'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); if(!$result) { die ('Error:'.mysql_error().'<br> <a href=""> Back</a>'); } echo 'Your Record added on :'.$now.'<br> <a href=""> Back</a>'; mysql_close($con); } else { echo("Try Eng..."); }} } } ?> </body> </html> Hi I use fake IP to check if my 503 custom error page works but it doesn't?. I have another question should i stop people from hotlinking to my rss feed which is also sitemap? and stop people from hotlinking to my robots.txt?. Thanks
RewriteEngine on is it true that all the server side code runs before the client side code when accessing a webpage? if that is true, what about PHP code that is embedded inside HTML tags? wouldn't that result in an error a lot of times? I've decided to rewrite one a couple of my forms, to make them more user friendly. But I am having problems returning the error. I've created an array ($e) which has the field name ($e['field_name']) for the error, but it isn't displaying any errors. Here's the code: case "contact": $e = array(); if(isset($_POST['sb'])){ $fullname = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['fullname']); $email_a = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['email']); $email_r = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['email_r']); $orderid = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['orderid']); $subject = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['subject']); $problem = $sql->real_escape_string($_POST['problem']); # Error Message function show_error($error,$evar){ $err = ' <span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>'.$error.'</strong></span>'; return $err; } # Check for isset if(!isset($_POST['fullname'])){ $e['fullname'] = show_error('Please enter your full name',$e['fullname']); } if(!isset($_POST['email_a'])){ $e['email_a'] = show_error('Please enter your email address.',$e['email_a']); } if(!isset($_POST['email_r'])){ $e['email_r'] = show_error('Please re-enter your email address.',$e['email_r']); } if(!isset($_POST['subject'])){ $e['subject'] = show_error('Select a subject.',$e['subject']); } if(!isset($_POST['problem'])){ $e['problem'] = show_error('Describe your problem.',$e['problem']); } if(isset($_POST['email']) AND isset($_POST['email_r']) AND $email_a != $email_r){ $e['email_r'] = show_error('Your email addresses do not match.',$e['email_r']); } } $content = '<h2> Customer Support - Contact</h2> <p> For technical support, sales and product related questions: <a href="'.$tech_support.'" target="_blank">Technical Support</a>.</p> <p> For downloading, ordering, refund or other store related questions, please fill out the form below:</p> <form method="post" name="csupport"> <p> Please enter your full name:<br /> <input name="fullname" type="text" value="'.$fullname.'" />'.$e['fullname'].'</p> <p> Please enter your email address:<br /> <input name="email_a" type="text" value="'.$email_a.'" />'.$e['email_a'].'<br /> Please re-enter your email address:<br /> <input name="email_r" type="text" value="'.$email_r.'" />'.$e['email_r'].'</p> <p> Please enter your order number:<br /> <input name="orderid" type="text" value="'.$orderid.'" /></p> <p> Please select a subject for your enquiry:<br /> <select name="subject"><option selected="selected" value="">--Select--</option><option value="Billing Question">Billing Question</option><option value="Cancel / Refund Order">Cancel / Refund Order</option><option value="Download Question">Download Question</option><option value="Password Issues">Password Issues</option><option value="Order Question">Order Question</option><option value="Shipping Question">Shipping Question</option><option value="Other">Other</option></select>'.$e['subject'].'</p> <p> Describe your problem as best you can:<br /> <textarea cols="45" name="problem" rows="4">'.$problem.'</textarea>'.$e['problem'].'</p> <p> <input name="sb" type="hidden" value="sb" /><input name="submit" type="submit" value="Submit" /></p> </form> '; $title = 'Contact Support'; break; Can anyone see what the problem is?
