PHP - Date & Time Formatting After Pulled From Database
I have the date stored as: date( "d/m/Y" )
After it's pulled from the database, I would like it to display like: date( "F j, Y" ) I have tried below, but the output makes d the month and m the day. $dateStamp = strtotime($row['startrepeat']); $dateFormatted = date("F j, Y", $dateStamp); Similar TutorialsCurrently the date is stored in the database as 28-02-2011 - 21:00:30 and the variable is: $date['mTime'] How can I format it too look "pretty" like this: February 28, 2011 - 10:00 PM? (don't need the seconds) I have selected datetime values from a MySQL database (originally stored with the NOW() method) and want to present them on a page formatted in a specific way. I succeded in making it work with the following php code:
$time = date('d/m Y H:i', strtotime($row['time'])); echo $time;I am however unsure if this is the best way to do it? I noticed some comments at php.net stating that this method has some limitations due to UNIX time. I am confused. There seem to be many ways of formatting date and time. Maybe somebody can clarify the situation, and tell me what will be appropriate in the current situation? I will appreciate any suggestions ... Erik Edited by erikla, 17 July 2014 - 10:01 AM. I have my database set to insert the current time stamp when an entry is made into the table, I am then trying to retrieve via the following code: $select_view_idea="SELECT * FROM $tbl_name5 WHERE message_number='$message_number'"; $result_view_idea=mysql_query($select_view_idea); while($row_view_idea=mysql_fetch_assoc($result_view_idea)){ extract($row_view_idea); } date_default_timezone_set('US/Eastern'); $date=date('l, F jS Y h:i:s A T', $date); echo $date; The above is outputting: Wednesday, December 31st 1969 07:33:31 PM EST the database contains: 2011-11-18 00:47:56 I've recently re-uploaded a website i created last year. when it was last online, everything worked perfectly, but now i'm finding that some of my pages that are supposed to retrieve data from a table are not returning anything. i havnt changed any code, and i have confirmed that there is data in the table. my c ode is as follows Code: [Select] <?php $news=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM news ORDER BY date DESC") or die ("Unable to load latest site news"); $numofrows = mysql_num_rows($news); echo $numofrows; for($t = 1; $t<$numofrows; $t++){ $latest= mysql_fetch_array($news); $news_date = date("Y-m-d",$latest['date']); echo"<div class='rightLinks'>".$news_date."</div>"; echo $latest['article_title']."</h2><p>".$latest['article_text']; } ?>i've added the "echo $numofrows" just to check that it is getting something from the database, and the correct number of rows is displayed. if anyone can see any problems, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Hi, I have a problem. i want to show the current date and time in my tables of the database. I want to show it because i want to show it on my report generated in php. By the way i do not have a "date" field in my form. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Heshan. Good afternoon all!! I have a very specific issue that, in my opinion, is quite complicated. In words, here is what I wish to achieve. I would like a page which displays users from the database. Each individual user has their own Div hidden below their name. Within this div, there is a form. The form is full of radio buttons. Once the user's name is clicked and form submitted, I wish to write the form data to the database for the specific user that was selected. See below example for better understanding: Dale Gibbs Chris Hansen Steve Jobs If I click Chris Hansen, the following happens Dale Gibbs ============== Chris Hansen HIDDEN DIV FORM CONTENT HIDDEN DIV FORM CONTENT HIDDEN DIV FORM CONTENT HIDDEN DIV FORM CONTENT HIDDEN DIV FORM CONTENT Submit Button ============== Steve Jobbs So as of now, the display is correct. I am seeing exactly what I want to see from my database. Also, my div IDs work just fine as well as the Javascript toggleSlidebox function. The only issue is for some reason, whenever I submit the form (no matter which user I select from my list), I can only write to the last inputted ID. So for example, if the last ID entered into the database was 6, then thats the only ID that will be returned when my form is submitted and the only place data will be written to, even if I select a user with ID 2. Please see below code for more information Code: [Select] <?php $staff_display_query = "SELECT staff_info.id, staff_info.fname, staff_info.lname FROM staff_info, staff_projects WHERE staff_info.id = staff_projects.staff_id AND staff_projects.proj_id = '$c_project_id'"; $staff_display_sql = mysql_query($staff_display_query) or die (mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($staff_display_sql)) { $current_staff_id = $row['id']; $staff_fname = $row['fname']; $staff_lname = $row['lname']; $list_staff .= ' ' . $current_staff_id . '<br /> <a href="#" onclick="return false" onmousedown="javascript:toggleSlideBox(' . $current_staff_id . ');">' . $staff_fname . ' ' . $staff_lname . '</a> <div class="hiddenDiv" id="' . $current_staff_id . '" style="border:#FFF 2px solid; width:553px;"> <!--TASK 1--> <div id="task_1_permissions" class="task_permissions"> <input name="permissions_1" type="radio" value="1"/> <input name="permissions_1" type="radio" value="2" /> <input name="permissions_1" type="radio" value="3" /> <input name="permissions_1" type="radio" value="0" /> </div> <!--TASK 2--> <div id="task_2_permissions" class="task_permissions"> <input name="permissions_2" type="radio" value="1"/> <input name="permissions_2" type="radio" value="2" /> <input name="permissions_2" type="radio" value="3" /> <input name="permissions_2" type="radio" value="0" /> </div> <!--TASK 3--> <div id="task_3_permissions" class="task_permissions"> <input name="permissions_3" type="radio" value="1"/> <input name="permissions_3" type="radio" value="2" /> <input name="permissions_3" type="radio" value="3" /> <input name="permissions_3" type="radio" value="0" /> </div> <!--TASK 4--> <div id="task_4_permissions" class="task_permissions"> <input name="permissions_4" type="radio" value="1"/> <input name="permissions_4" type="radio" value="2" /> <input name="permissions_4" type="radio" value="3" /> <input name="permissions_4" type="radio" value="0" /> </div> <input name="submit_user_permissions" type="submit" value="Submit Permissions" /> </div> </div> <br /><br /> '; } if (isset($_POST['submit_user_permissions'])) { $permissions_1 = $_POST['permissions_1']; $permissions_2 = $_POST['permissions_2']; $permissions_3 = $_POST['permissions_3']; $permissions_4 = $_POST['permissions_4']; $query = "UPDATE staff_projects SET task_1='$permissions_1', task_2='$permissions_2', task_3='$permissions_3', task_4='$permissions_4' WHERE proj_id='$c_project_id' AND staff_id='$current_staff_id'"; $sql = mysql_query($query) or die (mysql_error()); echo 'Permissions set successfully.<br />'; } After this PHP I have my standard HTML. Below is the javascript function I use for the slide box: Code: [Select] <script src="js/jquery-1.5.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function toggleSlideBox(x) { if ($('#'+x).is(":hidden")) { $(".hiddenDiv").slideUp(200); $('#'+x).slideDown(300); } else { $('#'+x).slideUp(300); } } </script> Javascript works just fine by the way. Below is the form I have in the HTML of the code. Code: [Select] <form action="" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <?php echo "$list_staff"; ?> </form> This is of course wrapped around body tags and all the other necessary HTML. The view of the form is working right, the functions within the form are also working correctly. I just cant seem to separate the variables for each individual user. If I am in Chris Hansen's div, it should be his ID number that is being referenced for the database, not the ID number of the last person entered into the system. Any ideas? As always, thanks in advance guys!!! Bl4ck Maj1k Hey guys, How would I go about subtracting Today from a previous day to find the difference? For example, I want to subtract TODAY from a previous date in my database, to determine if the difference is greater than 1 day. Any ideas? I tried doing the subraction in TIMESTAMPS, but when I convert the date back to Y-m-d H:i:s, I got some weird year and time. Hi guys, I'm putting together a small event system where I want the user to add his own date and time into a textfield (I'll probably make this a series of drop-downs/a date picker later). This is then stored as a timestamp - "0000-00-00 00:00:00" which displays fine until I try to echo it out as a UK date in this format - jS F Y, which just gives today's date but not the inputted date. Here's the code I have right now: Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM stuff.events ORDER BY eventdate ASC"); echo "<br />"; echo mysql_result($result, $i, 'eventvenue'); echo ", "; $dt = new DateTime($eventdate); echo $dt->format("jS F Y"); In my mysql table eventdate is set up as follows: field - eventdate type - timestamp length/values - blank default - current_timestamp collation - blank attributes - on update CURRENT_TIMESTAMP null - blank auto_increment - blank Any help as to why this could be happening would be much appreciated, thanks. PHP date and time function is not showing correct time on my local system I have the following php code date_default_timezone_set("Africa/Lagos"); $date = date('d-m-y h:i:s'); echo "Server Time ".$date ."<br>"; echo "The time is " . date("h:i:sa")."<br>"; $current_datetime = date("Y-m-d") . ' ' . date("H:i:s", STRTOTIME(date('h:i:sa'))); echo "Current time1: ".$current_datetime . "<br>";
Output
Server Time 21-05-21 09:55:39
Expected Output
Server Time 21-05-21 10:55:39
Any help would be appreciated. Edited May 21 by Ponel Hi all, I have features on my website which require a time limit untill they can do the thing agian, but at the current mintue ive got the time in seconds. How can I make a function which will give the time in minutes instaid of seconds. Example: If it was a 2 mintue waiting time instaid of being 120 Seconds it will be 2min(s) 0sec(s). Example of my Current Code: $timewaiting = time() + 160; // Waiting time. (2min) if ($user->lasttime > time()){ $howlongleft = $user->lasttime - time(); echo ("You must wait $howlongleft"); Thanks for any help given. I am having a problem with PHP displaying the correct date and time. It updates as it should, but is fast by 4min and is always displaying a date in 2004. I ran a basic php script to make sure the application im using itself is not wrong. go to lunenburgledger.com/time.php Anybody had any ideas on where to check? The system time on the Windows Server 2003 is correct. The only thing I can think of is that it was converted to a virtual machine on vmware esxi, but the system time stayed right. Any ideas? Thanks! OK So I've got a datepicker that sends a date in d/m/y format. My DB stores the data in Unix Timestamp Which I can convert the date to with strtotime however this does the exact date & time. All I want is the actual day. I've spent hours trying to convert this with just the day with mixed results... Thanks. Having used unix timestamps in the past formatting the date used to be easy. But since converting to mysql DATETIME im struggling to format it properly. I basically pull the date from the database, convert it using strtotime(), then convert it to a date using date(). The problem is that when i use 'a' to display am/pm the time almost always says am. If the time is 11am then it will display 11am. If it's 12pm then it will display 12pm, but if it comes to 1pm and above it will revert back to 1am. This is the date string I use: date('jS M Y g:i a'); is this due to the fact that mysql DATETIME uses 24 hour clock ('H'), if so is there a way around this? Hi Simple question, how do I reFormat a date. $dateCreated (2012-01-14) to become: 14th jan 2012 So far I have this, but it's not working: Code: [Select] $expDate = explode('-',$dateCreated); $date1 = mktime(0, 0, 0, date('m', $expDate[1]), date('d', $expDate[2]), date('Y', $expDate[0])); $date = date('d m Y', $date1); Thanks Hi, When I do this the result is a date of zeros? $DateAndTime = date('d-m-y', strtotime($DateAndTime)); All I want is a date in format of DD0MM-YYY and the Time in HH:MM::SS Any help would be great! I know it is basic, Thanks in advance I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have a date in a table which is formatted as: 2010-08-13 00:00:00. I am trying to change the date through PHP to display as 08-13-2010. The date is being formatted as 12-31-1969. Here's my code. if($registrant->StatusDate != '0000-00-00 00:00:00') { $formattedDate = date('m-d-Y', $registrant->StatusDate); $statusDate = ' as of ' . $formattedDate; } Can anyone advise me what I am doing wrong? Thanks! I'm going round in circles with this one, but I have a feeling that the answer is obvious. I have POST information that I want to use as a date and display it using date format, but I don't know how to The POST data outputs the following: 2011-9-23 Assuming I have defined $date as the posted data from the previous form, how do I write some code to tell it to output it as September 23, 2011, or just Sept 2011? To echo this: Posted on: October 23rd 2011 ... I'm querying my db with this: DATE_FORMAT(creation_date, '%M %D %Y') What if I wanted to echo this: 23. Oktober, 2011 ... that is, to display the date as it would be shown in German? TIA if you can help. Hi Guys, I have got a date string which looks like the following: Quote Thu Feb 09 2012 07:25:00 GMT 0000 (GMT Standard Time) I need to convert it to Quote d-m-Y H:i format. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks! Hi all I have a PHP script with the following var print $date; at the moment it is formatting the date like 03-24-2010 is it possible to get PHP to switch the date and month, so it looks like 24-03-2010 Thanks |
