PHP - Can't Check In_array From File?

A beginner question..

I have tried "isset" but it aint working.. I wonder what PHP function to use to check if a user actually put a file to be uploaded on the server. A validation  just in case a user just click the submit button w/out even choosing a file first.

Hi everyone, I'm still learning, but getting intermediate in PHP now, but it is still challenge to learn. I'm trying to have php check to see if one file inside folder in server, seem I could not get it right, but I tested it on other site, it works, but not this script, I don't understand why it won't work...maybe logical is wrong?

I'm having some trouble that I can't seem to figure out.. I've got a form with a file input area to upload an image. I just wanted to go through a if statement to check if a file was uploaded (which is required), however, even when I select a file to upload and submit, I still get the error echoing out as if nothing was uploaded.

I have a function to writes data I want to make sure it was successful.

I need to check (from a Debian server to a Mac CLIENT (not server) machine) to see if a file exists on the file system...not an http server.

I can't access an array value in a multidimensional array.  The if should be echoing true.  $news['companyid'] is equal to 1, but I must not be using in_array correctly.

I want to add a note field and a checkbox to my list/grid page and save this information to a json file using uomptrucknumber as the key. The note information will be information for the whole truck not by order. The check box will let them know that the truck is ready to have paper work printed.

I have not add the note field or checkbox because I did not want to start off wrong.

I get the tmp folder and check for its existanse and whether it is writeable

Both gives no which is fine, I can process that. I do it to avoid the output above, but I still get that.

How should I check for allowed paths?

This runs on several systems where I cannot access php.ini or other system stuff.

 

I know this works and that's why I'm puzzled. I'm bringing in data from a textarea and trying to compare it.

What's puzzling me is that it's not working. It must be something blantently obvious. It has something to do with the '$fruit-list' array and how it is being brought into the form. It posts fine. The reason I think this is the case is because if I simply create an array that is identical to the form coming in it works:

now why does nothing return when I use in_array?

This is PHP 101, but I'm struggling to see the obvious.  I have the query below which brings back a list of quizids.   I put them into an array using mysql_fetch_array. I then want to check to see if a certain quizid is actually in the quizzes table, so I thought I could simply us in_array.  But it's only checking the first quizid.  That doesn't make sense to me. Isn't mysql_fetch_array creating an array with all values automatically? 

If I actually have to use a "while" loop or something, can someone help me with how to write that code most efficiently.

I have a section in one of my scripts that checks for a value in array and the value doesn't exist in the array then it add it.  This works fine for single array but not for mulit-dimensional arrays.  Has anyone had a similar problem and knows a good solution?
