PHP - Functions Inside Mysql_query? Possible?
Similar TutorialsOK, so I'm trying to create a central db class for data validation, etc. I'm starting off with the data. this code works for me, I just want to be sure that I'm not missing anything. Will dbData be accessible globally? Code: [Select] class dbData{ function regex_key_data($reg){ $z = '/[a-z\s\'{1}]*/'; $d= array( 'domain'=>'/^[a-z0-9-.]+\.[a-z0-9]{2,4}$/i', 'email'=>'/^[a-z0-9._-]+@[a-z0-9._-]+\.[a-z]+$/i', 'GUID'=>'/[A-Z0-9]{8}-[A-Z0-9]{4}-[A-Z0-9]{4}-[A-Z0-9]{4}-[A-Z0-9]{12}/', 'html'=>'*htmlentities', 'int'=>'[0-9]', 'string'=>'*mysql_real_escape_string', 'fname'=>$z, 'lname'=>$z ); return $d[$reg]; } function test($reg,$val){ $z = preg_match(dbData::regex_key_data($reg),$val ,$dom); return ($z?$dom[0]:false); } } function clean_it($v,$type = 'none'){ $v = urldecode($v); if(!empty($v)){ switch($type){ case 'domain': return dbData::test('domain',$v); break; case 'email': preg_match('/^[a-z0-9._-]+@[a-z0-9._-]+\.[a-z]+$/i', $v,$email); if(empty($email[0])){return 'empty';} else{return mysql_real_escape_string($email[0]);} break; case 'GUID': return mysql_real_escape_string($v); break; case 'html': return mysql_real_escape_string(htmlentities($v)); break; case 'int': if(is_numeric($v)){return $v;} break; case 'string': return mysql_real_escape_string($v); break; } } else{ switch($type){ case 'domain': case 'none': case 'string': case 'email': case 'GUID': case 'html': return 'empty'; break; case 'int': return 0; break; } } } $br = '<br/>'; echo dbData::test('GUID','ASDFASDF-ASDF-ASDF-ASDF-ASDFASDFASDF').$br; echo dbData::test('email','asdf@asdf.asd').$br; echo clean_it('asdfsdf.com','domain'); Hi, So as you might (or might not) have guessed I need to open/close new connections inside my functions. Here's my current code: Code: [Select] <?PHP /** * This function checks the ban status of the account. * @return 1 if banned */ function checkBan() { mysql_close($con); require("./includes/wow.php"); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM wow_logon.accounts WHERE forum_acc= '.$user->data['user_id'].'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); if($row["banned"] == "1") { return 1; $ban_reason = $row["banreason"]; } //$user->data['user_id'] mysql_close($connect); require("./includes/config.php"); } ?> When trying to use the function: checkBan(); if(checkban() == "1") { echo'function works, and returns 1. Ban reason: '.$ban_reason.' '; } This gives a pretty good idea of what I try to accomplish I hope, if not, an explanation is below. This code unfortunately returns: Code: [Select] [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/fusion/public_html/includes/functions_user.php on line 9: mysql_close() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/fusion/public_html/includes/functions_user.php on line 12: mysql_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/fusion/public_html/includes/functions_user.php on line 9: mysql_close() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/fusion/public_html/includes/functions_user.php on line 12: mysql_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given Line 9 & 12: mysql_close($con); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); Explanation: What I want to do is that I have a user account panel. When the user log in, I want to call a function to check if the user is banned. If the user is banned then we have returned 1, and display some banned message, followed by the ban reason. P.S. is it possible to use stored variables inside a function? When I do this, I connect to another sql server, by first closing the existing connection (if any) and open a new one to execute my statements. Then close that connection and resume the old one. Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem understanding why I'm not able to use the class I'm extending off of functions. I have a category class that extends off my core class, inside that category class, I'm able to use the core functions and variables inside all custom functions, but not the __construct function. So, to be clear, inside class class, I'm able to call $this->core->function() inside custom functions, such as function add_parent(), but not the __construct function. Why is this happening, what is the logic behind this? This is how I'm extending the class off of the core class: Code: [Select] <?php $core = new core; $parent = new parents; $parent->core =& $core; ?> With this, like I said, I'm able to use all of my core functions inside all other classes called this way, so inside all of the other classes I can do: Code: [Select] <?php $this->core->function(); ?>everywhere besides __construct(). Do I not have the class called properly? Do I need to pass my core class through differently? How can I fix this? Thanks. I am getting a "mysqli_query() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli, null given" error. the code I am using is below but simplified. connect() does connect to the database without throwing any errors but when I get down to query() I get the above error. public function connect() { mysqli_connect(self::DBHOST, self::DBUSER, self::DBPASS, self::DBNAME); } public function query($query) { mysqli_query(self::connect(), $query); } below is what I am using to call the function. I am not sure if I have to pass the $link in the query function too. I have tried but it didn't seem to do any better. $link = db::connect(); $query = "SELECT name FROM plugins"; db::query($query); I am sure this is something simple that I have overlooked but I am new to this and still learning. Thank you for any help you can provide. OK So I have a quick question... how would I go about making a query like: mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$username' AND password='$password' AND key='$key' "); You see, theres an error: Quote You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' key='1234' LIMIT 1' at line 1 I know this is a simple issue, and I know you cant keep creating AND's inside the query, but how would I do it? I've never attempted to use more than one AND before, so its new to me even though I'm a experienced PHP Developer. Thanks in advance! Hey Guys, Im having problems with my code. What im trying to do is run a mysql query and show the results, but if the query returns no data, echo out "No incoming requests!" Here is my code: <? $check = "SELECT * FROM requests WHERE club='" . $_SESSION['club'] . "' AND team='" . $_SESSION['team'] . "' AND accepted='0'"; $result=mysql_query($check); if (mysql_num_rows($result) == 0) { while ($getinfo = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $time = $getinfo["time"]; $who = $getinfo["player_name"]; $whofor = $getinfo["toplayfor"]; $from = $getinfo["team"]; $idp = $getinfo["player_id"]; echo "<a href='profile.php?id=".$idp."&team=".$from."'>".$who." </a><div style='float:right;'>(".$from.")</div><br />"; echo "<div style='margin-top: 2px;'></div>"; echo date('l, F jS, g:ia',$time); echo "<br /><div style='margin-top: 2px;'></div><a href='accept.php?playerid=".$idp."&toplayfor=".$whofor."'>Accept</a> | Decline"; echo "<div id='newsline'></div>"; } } else { echo 'No incoming requests'; } ?> Could someone help me out here? Cheers I'm hoping someone can help me cos my hair's going white with this one. I'm trying to put together a script that acts as web-based interface to an SQL server. There are actually two parts, admin.htm and admin.php. The first part is just a form that passes login credentials to the PHP file. That part seems to work fine, but I'll post the source anyway: - Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>SQL admin login</title> <meta charset="iso-8859-1" /> </head> <body> <form action="admin.php" method="post"> <label for="username">Username: -</label> <br /> <input type="text" name="username" id="username" /> <br /> <br /> <label for="password">Password: -</label> <br /> <input type="password" name="password" id="password" /> <br /> <br /> <label for="server">Server: -</label> <br /> <input type="text" name="server" id="server" /> <br /> <br /> <label for="database">Database: -</label> <br /> <input type="text" name="database" id="database" /> <br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="Login" /> <input type="reset" value="Reset" /> </form> </body> </html> Following is the content of admin.php. By this point I can see the connection in MySQL Workbench, and when I submit the query 'SELECT * FROM subscribers' it's being stored in '$_POST['query']', but 'mysql_query($_POST['query'],$_SESSION['con']);' is returning nothing. There is definitely a record in that table, and the user I'm logging on with has permission to run the 'SELECT' command against this database, so I can't figure out why mysql_query(); is returning nothing: - Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE HTML> <?php session_start(); if(!$_SESSION['con']) { if(!($_POST['username'] || $_POST['password'])) { if(!($_SESSION['username'] || $_SESSION['password'])) { $error="Username and password variables empty."; } } else { $_SESSION['username']=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username']); $_SESSION['password']=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['password']); $_SESSION['server']=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['server']); $_SESSION['database']=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['database']); $_SESSION['con']=mysql_pconnect($_SESSION['server'],$_SESSION['username'],$_SESSION['password']); if(!$_SESSION['con']) { $error="Failed to connect to server."; } else { $database=mysql_select_db($_SESSION['database'],$_SESSION['con']); if(!$database) { $error="Failed to connect to database."; } } } } if(!$_POST['query']) { $error="No query submitted."; } else { $result=mysql_query($_POST['query'],$_SESSION['con']); if(!$result) { $error="Query returned nothing."; } } ?> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>SQL admin interface</title> <meta charset="iso-8859-1" /> </head> <body> <form action="admin.php" method="post"> <textarea name="query" rows="10" cols="50">SELECT * FROM subscribers</textarea> <br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit query" /> </form> <?php if($error) { echo $_POST['query']."<br /><br />".$result."<br /><br />".$error; die(); } else { while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { echo $row['name']." I'm pretty new to PHP and I'm having trouble inserting data into my database from a webpage. Here is the code. The error is on the lines with $query and $result. The error comes back: Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/content/76/5697876/html/corbinreynolds/insert.php on line 39 Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111 I've been working at this for hours and can't seem to figure this out. '.$last.''; } else { echo 'Error: Contact not added.'; exit; } echo 'Closing Database'; $db->close(); ?> I've got a very simple script that records IP address of every page view. Here is the script: $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $query = "INSERT INTO tracking VALUES ('', '1', '$ip')"; echo $query; echo ("<hr>"); if (mysql_query($query)) { echo ("INSERT OK"); } else { echo ("INSERT failed"); } FYI: the 1st value is "auto_increment" in the DB, therefore blank ('') in the query string, and the 2nd value "1" is just for the page number 1, as this script will be on other pages, with different numbers. Now, when I go to this page, it outputs the query, and hr, and then "INSERT failed" and sure enough, no record gets added to the DB. The strangest thing is, is that when I copy the query that the page shows, and paste it into mysqlPHPadmin's "SQL" section and run it, it executes fine, and a record gets added to the DB, however the page is unable to do that. Any ideas? PS: the connection (which I didn't paste in here) is fine, that's definitely not the problem. I have a script I am putting together that simulate a cricket game. The only issue is, that there are a huge number of functions because there doesn't seem to be any other way to do this properly. As well as this, there a while() loop and all this seems to be leading to the page reaching a max 30 second timeout when generating the result. My code is attached below, it is quite messy at the moment because i've just be working on it, but I was wondering if anyone has any solutions of how I can speed this up or change to prevent a timeout: <?php // Error reporting error_reporting(E_ALL); // Connect DB mysql_connect("wickettowicket.adminfuel.com", "rockinaway", "preetha6488") or die(mysql_error()); // Select DB mysql_select_db("wickettowicket") or die(mysql_error()); // MySQL queries to find batsmen and bowlers $array_batsmen = mysql_query('SELECT id, name, ability, strength FROM wtw_players WHERE team_id = 1 ORDER BY id ASC'); I then use a foreach to validate each domain the text box. The code is similar to: foreach($lines as $line){ $count_query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM domains WHERE domain='$line'"); $count = mysql_num_rows($count_query); if ($count > 0){ $error[] = $line . " already exists!<br />"; } } I was wondering if anybody knows a way to use the mysql_query outside of the foreach loop, as if the person has entered 100 domains for example, thats 100 queries accessing my database. Im not too sure if its possible or not. Anybody have any ideas? Many thanks What I am trying to do is I am making a Event page and I would like to have it list the events in 2 sections. One being "On" or "Before" current date and the next being "Past" current date so I can list the events in "Upcoming Events" and "Past Events" the code im showing here is for the listing of my event page I just need help turning this query into two separate querys with the date function im looking for. Code: [Select] <?php $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM event ORDER by eventdate DESC"); if (!$result) { die("query failed: " . msql_error()); } while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { list($id, $eventdate, $header, $description, $image, $location) = $row; $description = nl2br($description); $eventdate = date("M j, Y",strtotime("$eventdate")); print(' <table width="680" border="0" cellpadding="14" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td> <div class="myFont"><font size="+1" color="#4e8baf">'.$eventdate.' - </font><font size="+1"><b>'.$header.'</b></font></div> <font size="+1"><a href="event.php?list=true&eventid='.$id.'">Details</a></font><br /> <hr color="#FFFFFF" width="100" align="left" size="1"> </td> </tr> </table> '); } ?> Okey, after hours and hours of googling...all i found was some snippet that works so far that it displays the success and error message, however doesn't do any queries. Basically, what i need is this: I have a textarea where a user submits he's status a.k.a what he's doing, but then the page refreshes (you know, the oldschool plain php/html). However, I know this is doable via jQuery / Ajax ... all i need is a proper code that actually works. Hi, I am a little confused on the difference the mysql_fetch_array and mysql_query? Whats the difference between those two? Thanks |
