Hi all,

Just curious why this works:

Code: [Select]
while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){
$import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values('$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]')";
}
And this does not:

$headdata_1 = "'$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]'";
while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){
$import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values($headdata_1)";
}it puts $data[#'s] in the database fields instead of the actual data that '$data[0]','$data[1]'... relates to.

I wrote a script to create the values in $headdata_1 based on the number of headers in $csvheaders1 but can't seem to get it working in the sql statement.

Hi,

My company has 240+ locations and as such some users (general managers) cover multiple sites. When I run a query to pull user information, when the user has multiple sites to his or her name, its adds the second / third sites to the next columns, rather than wrapping it inside the same table cell. It also works the opposite way, if a piece of data is missing in the database and is blank, its pull the following columns in. Both cases mess up the table and formatting. I'm extremely new to any kind of programming and maybe this isn't the forum for this question but figured I'd give it a chance since I'm stuck.

Hi Guys,

I don't know how to do this but basically I want the value of $postcode3 to equal the value of $postcodep1 aswell as $postcodep2 like this...

else {$postcode3 = $postcodep1 $postcodep2;}

That doesn't work...

Say
$postcodep1 = LS14
$postcodep2 = 2AB

Then
$postcode3 = LS14 2AB

How do I write this in the above php code?!

The php web script that I’m trying to modify shows an html page of transactions. I’d like to change what is displayed there. The array that generates what is displayed begins on approx line 184 (in bold, near the bottom of the code below, with the line:

I have 2 file names, which are uploaded, stored in the variable $files. I want to be able to assign a variable to each file name. What's the best way of doing it?? I want to be able to insert each file into a mysql database on the same line but in different fields.

Here is a sample part of my code:

Hi there,

I am working on a PHP web form and I have a very simple situation I guess, I have a variable named: $MyVal

When I do

print_r($MyVal);
To see whats inside, I get:

SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 8.23 )
Now I am assigning this variable into a session variable so that I can do calculations with it.

So I assign:

$_SESSION['MySesVal'] = $MyVal;
But after assigning to session variable, when I do my calculations:

$finalValue = $_SESSION['MySesVal'] * 4;

I get 0. So is it because the actual $MyVal variable has some XML stuff as:

SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 8.23 )

So what is the right way to properly assign $MyVal variable to a session variable to do calculations.

Add Values Into Class File

hi,
i have a class file that have all values from a database fields.
for example:

class mospedidos extends mosDBTable {
id = null;
date =null;
}

class mosunder extends mosDBTable {
id = null;
name =null;
}

each time i creat a new field in the database i need add the same field in the
class file, what i want is a way using php to add that new field to the class file.
i just need a way to open the file and the class name that i give and add the value
and save the file.
how can i do this?

I have the following code. Basically I'm trying to count the amount of colours returned in the $colour variable. What I have is always returning 1, any ideas why?

$colourcount = mysql_num_rows($colour);

Hi Folks,

I'm thinking this is simple, but just can't seem to figure it out. I use similar code for different tables that works fine, but for this table, it doesn't work so I'm thinking this is a MySQL issue.

Here's the code:

$sqlmeds = mysql_query("SELECT ALL value FROM test WHERE type like 'media:'");
$meds = mysql_fetch_array($sqlmeds);

foreach ($meds as $med){
echo "$med";
}
and here is the relevant area of the table with row names "type" and "value"

type value
.
.
.
media:   painting
media:   works on paper
media:   collage/assemblage
.
.
.

When I run the query to find all 3 values from within phpMyAdmin, no problem, all three are returned, but when I run the exact same query from php, I only get "painting" returned, and oddly, I get an array with two values in it, both of which are "painting".

Any ideas??? Thanks!!

p.s. I also tried this just in case instead of the foreach, but same result:

I am trying to display a single value on my page and i cant seem to display it for the life of me. can someone tell me if im doing something wrong?
this is what i have so far:

<?php
require_once('inc/common.inc.php');

// Connect to the database
db_connect();

// Check and update the authentication.
check_auth();

db("select * from ${db_name}_users where login_id = '$login_id'");
echo "$login_id";

?>

obviously there is a field in the database that corresponds to turns and it is int(4),

..... Now, i am able to display $login_id, but when i try to display another field, named turns, it just displays a blank page.
Any pointers would be appreciated
