PHP - Scrutinizing Fields In A Webform?
Dear All,
I am writing a code to register new users on my website http://www.computationalphotography.in/registration.php. I want the page to check the entries in each field and return an error if any field is left blank or an invalid data-type has been entered. Could you please suggest ways to achieve this? Below is my code for the form: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <title> Photography Experiment Registration </title> </head> <body> <h1> Questionnaire </h1> <h3> We would like to know about your background and interests in photography. For each multiple-choice question, please circle all answers that apply.</h3> <form method="post" action="registration.php"> Note that all fields marked with * are mandatory <br> <br> Name* <input name="name" type="text"> <br> <br> Email  <input name="email" type="text"> <br> <br> Password<pre></pre> <input type="password" name="password"> <br> <br> Re-Type Password<pre></pre> <input type="password" name="password"> <br> <br> 1.) I have a few more queries regarding this web-form, but will mention them once this query is resolved. Similar TutorialsHi, I'm trying to get a php webform to log onto the database automatically before it loads on the website page. In other words I don't want the customer having log onto the database or be a guest. I think I need the code below to do that. Question is, can I just add this code into the php file that is the webform or add the <?php ?> to it and have it above the webform php code. Also do I need to alter any other dbconnect php pages as well? Also do I need to edit the htaccess file also. function verify_code() { $connection = mysql_connect ("localhost", "fred", "kool3401") or die ('Error: ' . mysql_error()); $db = mysql_select_db ("october"); { echo "Authenticated"; } Many Thanks ok ive searched everywhere online for a webform that is in 2 or more parts... so the first page passes variables to the second page then saves info for next page to submit all info from both pages of application to a server etc. ideally my page would look like this... page 1: small form with 3 fields: 1. type of loan: [dropdown menu] a. Cashout refinance b. Purchase 2. Property type: [dropdown menu] a. single family b. multi-unit, etc. 3. Property State: [dropdown menu] a. states....... [Next Page] <---Button page 2: a few more fields: (for example:) 1. Approximate credit score [dropdown menu] a. 650-700 etc.... 2. Phone number [textbox] 3. email address [textbox] [submit button] I know its possible, i just need to be put on the path... any help is much appreciated! This topic has been moved to Third Party PHP Scripts. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=354321.0 Hey guys,
Thank you in advance... here is my situation, I have a form with three (3) fields in it, the 'student name' is unlimited textfield with an "add more" button to it and I have two select fields ('number of shirts' and 'trophies') that depend on the number of entries for 'student name'...
I want to create the select fields based on this math, for as many 'student name' entries:
1- i want to have the select form for 'number of shirts' to be 0 up to that number... so if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1,3,4,5,6,7
2- I want to have the select form for 'trophies' to be 5 'student name' entries to 1 'trophies', for example if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1... if there are 13 entries, options will be 0,1,2... So if there are less than 5 'student name' entries, the select field will not show (hidden)
of course if there are no 'student name' entries, these two fields won't show up (hidden)
let me know if that make sense and ANY help or directions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks guys!
I need help with a form .. My form needs to allow an additional drop down field for Groups. This form also needs to save the extra fields chosen into my MySQL DB. Here is my form.. Code: [Select] <div class='label'>Group Name</div> <div class='field'><select name='group'><?=$groupSelect?></select></div> I need to be able to add another dropdown list to allow for multiple group selections that get saved into the DB once submitted. How do I go about doing this?????? Scenario: each row contains an ID, title, description, price, and up to 5 images. There are not always 5 images stored in each row. The images are stored as a file path which is then pulled out of the DB and used to display an image via HTML. I need to do some sort of loop/check that looks at the contents of a particular row (actually all rows in this particular table) and then decide how many times to loop through the images to display them all correctly on the webpage. I could statically set a variable for each column but then it would have a space for an image but nothing would show. I really want this to be able to only load the images that are stored in the DB. Any help on how I can go about this? thanks -beemer Hi all I have a website which has a payment system on it, I use sagepay, paypal and a few others. They all have relatively similar forms, in which the total amount to be paid is passed in a hidden form field, such as <input type="hidden" name="amount" value="25"> all the payment gateways I use have the same or similar method to send the total amount (ie: 25) for example, my paypal form is like <form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" name="paypal_form" method="post">"> <input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick"> <input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="items"> <input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="GBP"> <input type="hidden" name="notify_url" value="complete.php"> <input type="hidden" name="return" value="complete.php"> <input type="hidden" name="cancel_return" value="complete.php"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="PayPal" /> </form> this is all fine, apart from the user can use things like "firebug" to alter the total to be paid, so they can change $25 to $4 for example. So my question is, is there anyway with PHP to send over these form values are hidden variables. My idea was to post my form fields apart from the "cost" to a PHP script, then get PHP to grab the total from the database and dump the value in cost field and send it along with the other posted values. So really, is there anyway to get PHP to process a form data in a hidden enviroment, so my payment form URL is something like process.php and then process.php on my server deals with the sending of the paypal form data, but in a way that the user cannot see this data, so they basically never get to see the paypal form and any of its contents. Hopefully that kind of makes sense I have tried so many ideas, but cannot seem to find a solution, although when I do, hopefully the same method can be used on all my payment forms. Thanks tons in advance Below is my php file from my website srcfresno.com/inquiry2.htm When I go to the website and enter information in the form fields, it submits to my email fine but the email I receive has no information filled in. We have our church membership lists in a MySQL database with the following fields: Surname Person1 Person1_Membership Person2 Person2_Membership ... The membership fields will either be empty or contain "Resident" or "Non-Resident". The reason for two columns is that some couples may only have one partner as a member. I am trying (without success) to find a way of getting a total (to display on a web page) of how many "Resident" and how many "Non-Resident" members we have. In other words, I'm trying to get a sum of the total number of times "Resident" and and total number of times "Non-Resident" appears in the two columns combined. (hope that makes sense!) I would appreciate any pointers from anyone who has managed to do this, or something similar, already. Many thanks for the help I have a page where "Events" which may be of interest to site visitors can be recorded. Among other info, an "Event" has a "from" date and a "to" date (to show that an event will run from October 29th to October 31st, for example). All event info is being written to the db, but the "from" and "to" dates are not. (In the db, "0000-00-00 00:00:00" is being entered in the "from" and "to" columns.) In the Events table, both event_date and event_end_date are of type datetime. Dates are entered into the form fields via a javascript datepicker and are in the format "24/09/2011". I'm using this code: Code: [Select] // Check for a Start Date: if (empty($_POST['from'])) { $errors[] = 'You forgot to enter a Start Date for the event.'; } else { $from = $_POST['from']; } // Check for an End Date: if (empty($_POST['to'])) { $errors[] = 'You forgot to enter an End Date for the event.'; } else { $to = $_POST['to']; } The db query is this: Code: [Select] if (empty($errors)) { // If everything's OK. // Insert the Event info in the database... // Make the query: $q = "INSERT INTO events (title, event_date, event_end_date, venue, ext_link, blurb) VALUES ('$title', '$from', '$to', '$venue', '$ext_link', '$blurb') "; $r = @mysqli_query ($dbc, $q); // Run the query. if ($r) { // If it ran OK. // Print a message: echo "<h2>Event info added!</h2> <h3>Your entry is now visible on the <a href='index.php'>Home Page</a>.</h3> <p><a href='logout.php'><strong>Log out</strong></a></p> " ; mysqli_close($dbc); include('inc/footer.php'); exit(); And the form is this: Code: [Select] <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="add_event.php"> <label for="title">Title</label> <input type="text" name="title" id="title" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['title'])) echo $_POST['title']; ?>" /> <script> $(function() { var dates = $( "#from, #to" ).datepicker({ defaultDate: "", changeMonth: true, numberOfMonths: 1, onSelect: function( selectedDate ) { var option = this.id == "from" ? "minDate" : "maxDate", instance = $( this ).data( "datepicker" ), date = $.datepicker.parseDate( instance.settings.dateFormat || $.datepicker._defaults.dateFormat, selectedDate, instance.settings ); dates.not( this ).datepicker( "option", option, date ); } }); }); </script> <label for="from" >*From</label> <input type="text" name="from" id="from" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['from'])) echo $_POST['from']; ?>" /> <label for="to" ">*To</label> <input type="text" name="to" id="to" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['to'])) echo $_POST['to']; ?>" /> <label for="venue">*Venue</label> <input type="text" name="venue" id="venue" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['venue'])) echo $_POST['venue']; ?>" /> <label for="blurb">*Description</label> <textarea name="blurb" id="blurb" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['blurb'])) echo $_POST['blurb']; ?>" rows="5" ></textarea> <label for="ext_link">External link (optional, entered like "www.example.com")</label> <input type="text" name="ext_link" id="ext_link" value="<?php if (isset($_POST['ext_link'])) echo $_POST['ext_link']; ?>" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Insert Event Info" class="submit" /></p> <input type="hidden" name="submitted" value="TRUE" /> </form> Can anyone tell me why the dates aren't being recorded? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hello, Ive got a mysql database but i used a script to add a bunch of file names but it entered with a few errors and theres quite a few that got entered 4-5 times. I can get all the names fine using "SELECT DISTINCT name FROM games" but how can i export all the other fields not just the names. I want to select everything but only DISTINCT on the names Hey there - how are you? I'm trying to add up multiple fields from a table and it's mostly working but I have one curious error. It always seems to miss the field upgrade6_fee. I'm totally baffled. I thought it was my syntax but I'm not seeing anything wrong with it. Any ideas? Otherwise it all seems to be working. <?php $query = "SELECT fee1, upgrade3_fee, upgrade4_fee, upgrade5_fee, upgrade6_fee, upgrade7_fee, SUM(fee1 + upgrade3_fee + upgrade4_fee + upgrade5_fee + upgrade6_fee + upgrade7_fee) AS ttotal FROM Register"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo number_format(($row['ttotal']), 2); } ?> Hi, I have a page where a user can change his password what i want to acheive is a way of checking the database if the text the user has entered in the textboxes already exist in the db, and if it does exist change a certain part. for example the user goes to the address, types in the email, user name and password twice. if the username and email match in the db i would like the password to write over the old password that was in the db. i keep confusing myself when i think i know what im doing but i keep stumbling. i know this sounds a bit confusing so please ask if you need more understanding. so far ive got: Code: [Select] <?php $n=$_POST['uname']; $e=$_POST['email']; if( $_POST['submitted'] == 'yes' ) { if( $_POST['pass_1'] != $_POST['pass_2'] ) { // fields don't match, so do something to indicate the error . . . echo '<p>Passwords Do Not Match</p>'; } // connect to the db include('config.php'); $query="select * from user where uname='$n' and email='$e'"; $result=mysql_query($query); } ?> <form action="" method="post"> <input type="text" name="uname" id="uname" size="30"> <input type="text" name="email" id="email" size="30"> <input type="password" name="pass_1" /> <input type="password" name="pass_2" /> <input type="hidden" name="submitted" value ="yes" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Change Password" /> </form> just by looking at my code again i think its not right at all, the first php bit is only checking the password textboxes. i think i need to remove my email and username out of that form and put them in another. am i right? sorry im not that good at php or mysql thanks in advance and sorry for such a long read I have the following query "select distinct article_author, article_author2 from articles" When I run this it returns two columns. However is there a way in which I can group these two columns into 1 column? Thanks for any help. Hey guys I have a form, but on the form you are able to add extra fields. My question is how would I POST those extra fields? The way I always do it is $_POST['field_name'], however how would I know if theyve added new fields. Here is an image of what the field looks like so you get a better idea of what im talking about. Hi everyone, I am working on a website that involves MySQL.
