PHP - Delete Problem
hey i am having a problem with the delete command. i have included the code for help.
to me i don't see a problem but obviously there is. it is not deleting the field that the form is sending. it does complete the header fine. some advice would be great. Code: [Select] <?php include("dbc.php"); $id = $_POST['id']; $sql="DELETE FROM players WHERE id= '$id' "; $result=mysql_query($sql); header("Location: masterrosteredit.php?msg=Your player was deleted"); mysql_close(); ?> Similar TutorialsHaving issues with a small piece of script. Trying to delete entries from a database. First, the essentials: the button being clicked is named 'delete' the columns in the actual table are 'INDEX' 'SUBJECT' 'MSG_TEXT' and 'MSG_DATE' Here is the code: Code: [Select] <?php if($_POST['delete']) // from button name="delete" { for($i=0;$i<$count;$i++) { $del_id = $i; $sql = "DELETE FROM FORUM_MESSAGE WHERE id='$del_id'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die (mysql_error()); } if($result) { header('Location: message-deleted.php'); } } ?> Thanks again! Ryan My delete button will not work for some reason. I have created a loop, ordered my database entries with $i and have gotten closer, but not 100% of the way to making it work. I am trying to delete rows from my database individually. Not sure where I am going wrong with my syntax, but something is not working. The entries are not deleting nor am I receiving any errors. I am stumped. Here is the code. I shortened it for readability. Code: [Select] <?php // database connection information include('connection.php'); $query = "SELECT * FROM FORUM_MESSAGE ORDER BY MSG_DATE DESC"; $result = mysql_query($query); $num = mysql_num_rows($result); $i = 0; while ($i < $num) { $subject = mysql_result ($result, $i, "SUBJECT"); $message_text = mysql_result ($result, $i, "MSG_TEXT"); echo '<form method="POST" name="subject">'; echo '<input type="hidden" name="update" value="<?php echo $subject; ?>" />'; echo '<input type="submit" name="update" value="Update" />'; echo ' '; echo '<input type="hidden" name="delete" value="' . $subject . '" />'; echo '<input type="submit" value="Delete" />'; echo '</form>'; $i++; } if (isset($_POST['delete'])) { include ('connection.php'); mysql_query("DELETE FROM FORUM_MESSAGE WHERE SUBJECT = " . $subject); } ?> </body> </html> Thanks again! Ryan Hi, ppl, my problem is that whenever the DELETE link is clicked, a javascript confirm box pops up and it should only delete the record with the ID from the $_GET global array if the user clicks the OK button, otherwise it should just redirect to the table of entries WITHOUT DELETION, but somehow it IS DELETING even when CANCEL button of javascript confirm box clicked. Here's my code below: <html> <head><title> </title> </head> <body> <?php require "bellConnect.inc.php"; $ID=$_GET['ID']; $result=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM bellProducts WHERE ID=$ID"); $row=mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $name=$row['Name']; $manufacturer=$row['Manufacturer']; print "Value of ID is $ID"; ?> <script type='text/javascript'> var confirmDelete=confirm("Are you sure you want to delete <?php echo "$name $manufacturer"?> ?"); if(confirmDelete) { <?php $deletedResult=mysql_query("DELETE FROM bellProducts WHERE ID=$ID"); ?> alert("<?php echo "$name $manufacturer" ?> has been deleted successfully."); window.location="http://localhost/index.php"; } else if(!confirmDelete) { window.location="http://localhost/index.php"; } </script> </body> </html> **please help me someone!!! thanks Hi... It deletes the record okay, but if I have: 1 2 3 4 and delete 3, then 4 should become 3 but 4 stays as 4 until it moves two places and then it becomes 3. I am sure its related to part of this code, but please let me know if you have any ideas. Cheers Pockitz // delete row from table $sql = "DELETE FROM images WHERE imgsequenceid = '$seqid'"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); if($result){ echo "Image $seqid successfully deleted from $id"; }else{ echo "ERROR"; } // select the info, ordering by sequenceid $sql = "SELECT imgsequenceid, imgid FROM images ORDER BY imgsequenceid"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); // initialize a counter for rewriting sequenceid $seqid = 1; // while there is info to be fetched... while ($r = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { $imgid = $r['imgid']; // update the sequenceid number to the one in the next number $sql = "UPDATE images SET imgsequenceid = '$seqid' WHERE imgid = '$imgid'"; $update = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); // inc to next avail number $seqid++; } // end while } // end if del Hi, I want to build into my html table that populates my database table to have a column for checkboxes with a delete button that takes the user to another page to confirm the deletion by outputting a message: Are you sure you want to delete ____, followed by a for loop to see how many checked records to get its ID in order to get its appropriate name.
