Hi People

i'm a newb at this so bare with me but i currently have a php file called Newkpi.php which has a select statement in. this selects data from a table called "StaffList".
this then populates the page with a html table with 14 records (this will increase/decrease over time) i then have some extra text boxes to enter more detail into like service amaount service date and so on.
when i click the submit button i want it to cycle through each row and insert the data into a separate table called "Services". however i cannot for the life of me get this to work and need some help with it. people find attached the code for Newkpi and see if you can help me with this.

in total i want it to take the names from stafflist and populate Services with the names and the extra detail which is entered on the page

I am new to php and need help.
I am building a library system for an assignment.
I want to provide a functionality that registers (adds) all transactions to defferent databases.
I am stuck on how to add a selected row (selected by a checkbox) to the database and make sure that 2 users cannot update the same record at the same time.

the code above is insert code and working with out any errors but when i am submitting text into data using method below it is sending echo back Somethin went wrong.I think i am confused with the write name of the user table

Hello there,   I'm really new at PHP and I've been reading several beginner tutorials so please accept my apologies for any stupid questions I may ask along the way.   I've gotten as far as installing XAMPP, set up a database plus PHP form and I'm struggling to figure out how to insert values from an array into my database.   I've learnt the code in one particular way (see beginner tutorials) so I was wondering if you could help me keeping this in mind. I know there'll be a million better ways to do what I'm doing but I fear I will be bamboozled with different code or differently structured code.   Anyway the tutuorials I'm reading don't see to cover how I can insert an array of values into my database, just singular values.   In the attached file, I have 10 rows of 2x text inputs (20 text inputs total). Each row allows the user to enter a CarID and CarTitle. I've commented out the jQuery which validates the inputs so I can build a rudimentary version of this validation with PHP.   I thought that because the line $sql="INSERT INTO carids_cartitles (CarID, CarTitle) VALUES ($id, $title)"; is inside the foreach, means that for each pair of values from the form it'd insert to the database.   It doesn't do this. If I enter two or more CarIDs and CarTitles, only one pair of values gets saved to the database.   I'm sorry if I haven't explained this well enough, any questions please let me know.   Many thanks for your help in advance. Im building a list of offers and adding them to a table in a database.

Pretty much all it is is HTML. Im inserting an ahref link that has a php echo in it. So it looks like this:

When I insert this (through my form) I get mysql error 1064 which is syntax error. I tested it without the php & it gives me 0, which worked fine.

I need the php code so I can append userid to the SID var.

Am I doing something wrong? Well I guess I obviously am so the real question is what am I doing wrong & how could I do it the right way?

I have posted one set of values into my database and it worked fine but when i input another set they wont go inside unless i changes the value of the primary index colum. I want to be able to insert a new values regardless of the primary index value. Any idears...?

Now the part which I can't get to work is when I'm trying to store the new values in my database. When I click the submit button I clear my database of any row that is related to the currently loggedin user and I want to store his new preferences (checked cheboxes). I've read that only the cheked checkboxes' values are POSTed so I did this (preferances_check.php)

When a record is added its done via a form and processed via inserts.php.

I need to use the same form but to recall the data (by id) so it can be editted.

Cant work it out though.  Help would be well appreciated!

Ok, so I've spent quite a bit of time piecing together this solution from a variety of sources. As such, I may have something in my code below that doesn't make sense or isn't neccessary. Please let me know if that is the case.

I'm creating an administrative form that users will you to add/remove items from a MySQL table that lists open positions for a facility. The foreach loop generates all of the possible job specialties from a table called 'specialty_list'. This table is joined to a second table ('open_positions') that lists any positions that have been selected previously.

Where I'm stuck is getting the checkbox to be checked if the facility_ID from the open_positions table matches the $id passed in the URL via ?facility_id=''. Here's where I am so far:

Any ideas how to get this working? I feel like I'm very close, but I just can't get it. I also tried starting from scratch with a WHILE statement instead of a FOREACH, but haven't tweaked it enough to prevent duplicate checkboxes. Lets say I have this database:

I want to insert new product into the database using only values [brandName] and [price]
and want brandID and productID to be created automatically

This should work just fine (it doesnt tho) BUT my question is:

I have 3 different brands (brand A with brandID 1, brand B with brandID 2, brand C with brandID 3).
When want to insert brand D, automatically created brandID should be automatically set to 4. BUT
when I want to insert product of the same brand, lets say brand A (with different productID) brandID is automatically set to 4(or higher) as well.

What do I have to do(use) so it would be able to realise what brandID should be added?
