PHP - Problem With Spanish Characters While Using Google Api, Php, Mysql
Similar TutorialsHi All, I want to display lists of words (utf8 encoded) correctly ordered in Spanish, where "ch" and "ll" are considered as letters in the alphabet. For French, I use the following : $col = new Collator('fr_FR'); $col->setAttribute(Collator::FRENCH_COLLATION, Collator::ON); $col->asort(<array-to-sort>); What would be the equivalent for spanish? Thanks! Hi all, I am using some code i wrote for www.tingifts.com and although it works fine on that site, it has problems on http://www.regalosdehojalata.es/ The code relates to passing a currency symbol to a variable for inclusion on a page hosted by the payment gateway. Before I get into code, does anyone else have any experience with foreign languages interfering with php code, and if so, is there an easy way of getting around the issue? I have added slashes to all variables, so I wouldn't think that this would be the problem. Suggestions? Neil How do I convert accented characters etc into their code form so I can put them into my database? I have tried everything I can think of like htmlentities, htmlspecialchars, url_decode etc and nothing seems to work! I am storing content in a table with different fields for different languages, e.g. polish, spanish etc. I can use the following function: function getRewriteString($sString) { $string = strtolower(htmlentities($sString)); $string = preg_replace("/&(.)(uml);/", "$1e", $string); $string = preg_replace("/&(.)(acute|cedil|circ|ring|tilde|uml);/", "$1", $string); $string = preg_replace("/([^a-z0-9]+)/", " ", html_entity_decode($string)); $string = trim($string, "-"); return $string; } Which replaces accented chars with their unaccented counterparts but it doesn't work 100% of the time and isn't really what I want because I'd like to have the accented chars as they will be used on different language sites. Thanks in advance. Hello everyone,
I have a card database and everything works perfectly besides one thing..
I can't store
'in my database via my form, i however do can store them into the database via PHPMyAdmin. I dont know what i've been doing wrong and it really bothers me. If any of you guys could help me out. Here's all the code you would need to find the issue. This is the form file

Edit Page

Add Cards

This inserts it into my database. <?php ($GLOBALS["___mysqli_ston"] = mysqli_connect("", "", "", , ))or die("cannot connect"); ((bool)mysqli_query($GLOBALS["___mysqli_ston"], "USE e_industries"))or die("cannot select DB"); $name = $_POST['name']; $color = $_POST['color']; $type = $_POST['type']; $subtype = $_POST['subtype']; $power = $_POST['power']; $toughness = $_POST['toughness']; $manacost = $_POST['manacost']; $rarity = $_POST['rarity']; $expansion = $_POST['expansion']; $foil = $_POST['foil']; $stock = $_POST['stock']; $sql="INSERT INTO Osiris (Name, Color, Type, Subtype, Power, Toughness, Manacost, Rarity, Expansion, Foil, Stock) VALUES ('$name', '$color', '$type', '$subtype', '$power', '$toughness', '$manacost', '$rarity', '$expansion', '$foil', '$stock')"; $result=mysqli_query($GLOBALS["___mysqli_ston"], $sql); if($result){ echo "Successful"; echo "
"; echo "Back to main page"; } else { echo "ERROR"; } ?>If anyone could help me out that would be great! Edited by OsirisElKeleni, 05 October 2014 - 12:29 PM. Hi Guys I am having trouble with a mysql regexp expression called through php. I am not sure but I suspect its to do with the {} in the mysql code and PHP parsing them incorrectly. Here is my code snippet: $q = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['keyword']); $limit = 10; //limit number of responses from dictionary $remainder = 11 - strlen($q); if ($q) { $qy = "SELECT * FROM dict_list WHERE UCASE(word) <> UCASE('$q') AND (word REGEXP '^$q.{$remainder}') LIMIT $limit"; $query = mysql_query($qy); ... What I want to do is this: a user types in a word. I then want to query a dictionary table called dict_list for all matches of the this word up to 11 characters max. Example: if $q was the word aero then the response would be all words beginning with aero and up to a max of 11 characters. That is why IU thought I could calculate length of $q and from this get the $remainder = 11 - strlen($q) then in the REGEXP use .{$remainder} but when testing if I echo out the query $qy the curly braces will not show on screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is posted in correct location. Apologies if not. Thanks, Fergal. I have one mysql table with data and accessing this data through one php script. This works fine in REDHAT 8 linux. I have shifted mysql database and the php script to new server with REDHAT RHEL4.4. now when I execute the script from website, it displays junk character (reading form mysql database through php script). There is no error in mysql database/table and script is working fine in redhat 8. I have checked php.ini for default characterset as well as set the encoding in mysql as latin1. Where else should I look/change? any idea? I am developing a portion of a site for a client. He has an 800 page pdf document that he would like the software to search based on client input. When the user searches, he would like it to display a Google-esque search results page that would display a title (Probably the chapter in which the result was found), then an excerpt from the text surrounding the matching keyword(s). When the user clicks the link, he would like it to take them to the page where the match was found. A big drawback is that this document will be changing fairly regularly and will need to be updated. Initially I thought I could store the pdf in a database as text/html with each page being a record in the table, but with frequent changes, I fear this would be a nightmare to manage. My only other thought is to store the file as one big entry in a table and search the entire entry, which I have done some searching and have come up with some options, but when you click it loads the entire db entry. This would create issues with an 800 page document. Need help with this, has anyone does this before? Here is the tutorial I have been following: https://developers.google.com/maps/articles/phpsqlajax#outputxml The part I am on from the tutorial is where it says Checking that XML output works it is meant to display the data from the database but i just get a blank page, no data is shown from my database on the page? I just have a php file with the code from the tutorial. Am trying to save a text input that require the use of some php special characters like (" ", ' ' ) e.t.c. When ever i post the data, the system returns an error. please, how can i go about this?
Thanks in advance
I submit text to my MySQL database using a form on my site. When I look at the text in my database, sometimes, there are strange characters. The strange characters are caused by quotation marks, em dashes, apostrophes and foreign letters of the alphabet. I think that this only happens when the source of the text is a Windows program. I understand that this is a character encoding issue, but I don't fully understand the subject. I've spent the last few hours researching it, but it's only confused me.
My site uses UTF-8 encoding:
The collation of my database is utf8_general_ci. My form looks like this: As you can see, an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute has not been specified. Questions 1) I am guessing that my problem is that the Windows characters are being misinterpreted by my UTF-8 setup. Is that correct? 2) If so, is there a way that I can safely convert the Windows characters to UTF-8 during the submission process? 3) Should I also specify an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute on the form? 4) When I paste the Windows text directly into my database without using the form, the characters save without turning into the strange characters. But they don't render properly on my site. Can't browsers identify Windows characters? Hey Guys! I would really like some feedback on the following: I have a site in Portuguese. Php retrieves a lot of POST's with Special Characters and Portuguese Accents (which are expected). With my sanatize function I am having some real problems with the 'htmlentities' for XSS Injection Prevention. htmlentities is changing the accents to strange characters and messes up my database. sanitize( &$_GET ); sanitize( &$_POST ); sanitize( &$_COOKIE ); function sanitize( &$some) { $some = array_map('htmlentities', $some); //XSS Prevention foreach( $some as $key => $value ) { $value = str_replace( '--', '', $value ); $value = str_replace( '/*', '', $value ); $value = str_replace( '"', '', $value ); $value = str_replace( "'", '', $value ); $value = ereg_replace( '[\( ]+0x', '', $value ); if ($value != $some[$key]) { $some[$key] = $value; } } } The only solution I can think of is to take out the 'htmlentities' function, but I would really like to have this as a prevention against XSS, is there any way around this to have both things working? Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks in advance! Hi Hopefully someone can help me. My knowledge of PHP doesnt go any further than looking at identifying areas of code and copy and paste - as basic as you get! Basically i have a php script installed that produces an RSS feed for me to use with google base. There is a little problem were it does not pull the sale price(known as special) into googlebase and it will instead show the original price. I have identified what needs to be changed but i dont know the correct syntax. I somehow need to get something similar to the following IF ELSE into the code below (this is taken from the same php script that shows the special price on the actual rss feed) foreach ($product_data as $result) { $special = $model_catalog_product->getProductSpecial($result['product_id']); if ($special) { $price = $special; } else { $price = $result['price']; } if ($useTax) { $price = $currency->format($tax->calculate($price, $result['tax_class_id'], $config->get('config_tax')), $currency->getCode()); } else { $price = $currency->format($price, $currency->getCode()); } The code below is were i need the If Else inserted. <?php foreach ($products as $product) { ?>

<?php echo htmlspecialchars($product['name'], ENT_QUOTES, 'utf-8'); ?>
<g:brand><?php echo htmlspecialchars($product['brand'], ENT_QUOTES, 'utf-8'); ?></g:brand> <g:condition>new</g:condition> <g:product_type><?php echo $taxonomy; ?></g:product_type>
<?php echo htmlspecialchars($product['desc'], ENT_QUOTES, 'utf-8'); ?>

<?php echo str_replace('&', '&', $product['href']); ?>

<?php echo $product['add_date']; ?>
 <g:id><?php echo (int)$product['id']; ?></g:id> <g:image_link><?php echo $product['thumb']; ?></g:image_link> <g:price><?php echo $product['price']; ?></g:price> <g:mpn><?php echo htmlspecialchars($product['model'], ENT_QUOTES, 'utf-8'); ?></g:mpn> <g:weight><?php echo $product['weight']; ?></g:weight> <g:currency><?php echo $config->get('config_currency'); ?></g:currency>
<?php } ?> The <g:price> is what googlebase reads to get the price of the product. The problem seems to be that there is no if else statement here to output the special price if there is one. Any help would be greatly appreciated, i tired emailing the developer but i have been ignored and as you can see i'm pretty clueless I have been running Google ReCaptcha v2 on 4 different sites for a very long time without any problem. They were all working fine. Not sure when as I was just recently made aware it, but none of them work anymore ??? Did google change something or is it because I updated php?? The problem is in the response - no matter what I try, I cannot verify that I am human. This is the response code:
[\code] For some reason I am no longer getting a successful response. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanx
Hi, Ihave the below array output from a DB query. I need to convert into the bottom array for Google CHarts. It was working and than apparently stopped working with this error "602: Unable to Geocode this address" Can anyone tell me if there is another solution? Or if I can use another method besides $gmap->showLocation($cross,$town,$county$state); Thanks! Code: [Select] <?php require_once('gmap.php'); $gmap = new GMap(); $cross = $result['cross_streets']; $county = $result['county']; $town = $result['town']; $state = 'New York'; $gmap->showLocation($cross,$town,$county$state); ?> Hey Guys.
