PHP - Pull Info From One Mysql Table Based On Another's Result

How can i use single quote for values?

$qry='insert into tablename values('a','b');';

well I know the standard way of retrieving mysql data was through the following codes:

This will return all properties inside a table row by an associative array indexed by column names. I am, however, wondering if there is an easier way to retrieve database info from more than one table. For now, what I am doing is:

which is a bit tedious and can cause problems when two or more coders work on the same project(it will be difficult to tell what is $row1, $row2 and $row3...). Is there away to write a simpler code than the one above? I mean, if it is possible to run mysql_fetch_array only once and retrieve database info from multiple tables?

I am getting  the row results from mysql as called, but they appear as a straight line instead of new table row when I echo like:

provided with an refid

Steps:

1.User needs to log in with a valid user id and pwd
2.Once logged in, there will be search, where the user will input the refid which has been provided to him during the time of order placement.
3.Now User is able to view all the details for any refid
3.Up to this we have completed.

Query:

Now we need to retrieve the details based on the user logged in.

For eg: user 'USER A' has been provided with the referenceid '1234' during the time of order placement
        user 'USER B' has been provided with the referenceid '2468' during the time of order placement

When the userA login and enter the refid as '2468' he should not get any details.He should get details only for the reference ids which is assigned to him.

On the home page I am having a problem pulling information from the MySql here is my code...and this is what I am trying to do... i am trying to pull 10 items from the database that have today's date...I am also trying to make the user name a link to a page called backpack.php where that page can use the user name that is clicked to retrieve more information. (the problem I am having is 10 results come up but it is a repeat of the same 10 results and when you click the link it doesn't show the user that is clicked info.) Hi all-
I need some help figuring out a select query... I have a view made from two tables with a user ID as the common key. I need to retrieve all rows from the view where the email address is NOT equal to the session variable stated [EMAIL].

I built it using what I thought was a fairly simple query, and what it gives me back are any rows where the EMAIL field has a value (not equal to the session variable) which is fine.. but I ALSO need to get the other rows where the email field has NO value assigned to it currently.

How can I write this?

I don't know that the subject describes exactly what I want to do so I will explain it as best as I can.

I have a form that uses a select box to pull all the names of our employees from the database. I then have a submit button that opens up a page. The code from my view.php is as follows:

On the attendance.php form, I need it to display that user that was pulled from the form on the page before. What would be the best way to do this? I am fairly new to PHP and i'm at a loss right now.

I have a mysql table which will store users email addresses (each is unique and is the primary field) and a timestamp. 
I have added another column called `'unique_code' (varchar(64), utf8_unicode_ci)`.

What I would very much appreciate assistance with is;

a) Generating a 5 digit alphanumeric code, ie: 5ABH6 
b) Check all rows the 'unique_code' column to ensure it is unique, otherwise re-generate and check again 
c) Insert the uniquely generated 5 digit alphanumeric code into `'unique_code'` column, corresponding to the email address just entered. 
d) display the code on screen.

What code must I put and where?

I have a form that is submitting to a database currently.  I would like to check the data and be able to update it with a notes section. 

The form is currently 80 text boxes, dropdowns, and text areas being submitted to the database.  I need this info to populate after the user id is entered and a button is pressed.  I will have to update this page frequently with notes.  I am going to create a new table just for the notes  and will attach the customer id to it also.

If you can help me out with this i would appricate it.  I can post my current code or an example of the code.

I used to code a long time ago - PHP5.

It is slowly coming back to me but not fast enough...

I need to copy data from a mysql data base and put it back in unchanged with another date reference.

This is a calorie recorder that tracks daily calories - food type, calories, protein, carbs, etc.

I simply want to take each entry in that day, then copy it exactly except changing the date recerence.

If I could say "copy all entires where date = (date) into DB  with new date (date), that would do it.

The only thing I can think to do is pull each item out  and place it back into the DB with a while statement.

There has to be an easier way...

If that is my only option, I need to figure out how to create a while statement to handle an array to do the job.

Any thoughts?
