hi there,

i am fairly new to OOPs in php, i get an error when i declare the argument type (as object) in a function and pass the same type (object).



class eBlast {
       public static function getEmail(object $result) {
           return $result->email;
       }
}

$r = mysql_fetch_object($query);
eBlast::getEmail($r);

echo gettype($r); // outputs: object



error is :

Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to eBlast::getEmail() must be an instance of object, instance of stdClass given, called in C:\wamp\www\integra\client\pl_eblast\admin\send_emails.php on line 145 and defined in C:\wamp\www\integra\client\pl_eblast\app\app.eBlast.php on line 8
if i remove the type declaration in the function it works, but just would like to know why it shows error when pass the same type, also isnt mysql_fetch_object is the instance of stdclass?

I let my users to post what they would like as a text, today I noticed that I forgot  disabling htlm chars, so they can even post textbox's htlm code and create a textbox in the posting section, Is there any way/function to prevent this ?

I've been doing a lot of studying of Linux lately. I enabled the root acount to do some work. When done, even if I logout, close the terminal, or reboot, I can still access the root account without supplying the root password. So what am I not understanding or what am I doing wrong? I don't really need to disable the root account, but this is just a learning experience, and I'm not understanding why I still have access. Ok so I got BB Code working. Now I want to prevent Users from inserting HTML into Posts. I have the following:


    $PostText = mysql_escape_string($_POST['replytext']);

Now If I were to input

When Checking the database it has:

Any help on solving this?

After installing SquirrelMail I am facing the following error on initial start up.

SquirrelMail 1.4.x is not compatible with PHP's session.auto_start setting. Please disable it at least for the location where SquirrelMail is installed.

Now my problem is not how to turn session.auto_start off (php.ini) as I really don't want to.  Does any one know how I can go about turning it off for the squirrelmail directory only??

Probably a stupid question . . .   The MIME type in my php.ini file is set to text/html:

default_mimetype = "text/html"

But, because I use XHTML 1.0 Strict, the MIME type of my web pages is set to text/xml:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/xml; charset=utf-8" />

I should therefore change the php.ini MIME type to text/xml, right?

Hey Guys,

I have followed a tutorial and got a SMS text message script working. Although what i would like to do now is allow a registered user to add another user via a form. This form will contain the users mobile number, email, who its from,  and a textarea for the message to send to them in the text message.

*** It also stores it into a database. But dont worry about that.

I have run into a problem, when i type in a mobile number and an email address and then press send. It doesnt seem to store the email address in the $vars echo (message). **It does echo in the email bit but i wont it to show in the message bit. **
