PHP - Mysql Database Value Doesn't Update

Hi.
I'm trying to use UPDATE to update my datebase.  When I run the code inside mysql phpadmin it works fine.  But when I try and run something similiar from my php page its not updating.
UPDATE user SET password='newpass', verified='0', random='asldk445435' WHERE email='email@email.com'

Im just in the middle of creating an update script for my mysql database but don't know why it's not working. p.s. I'm a little new to PHP, but know quite a bit, it's probably something really small.. *facepalm*

Every time I want to update, it comes up with:

UPDATE orders SET Name='TEST', Location='TEST', fault='jbjh' WHERE =''
update query failed

Any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone got any script or refence to a tut where i can find a script that compares two mysql database (current) and outdated db and then takes the current db and updates the outdated one to match accordingly. Thanks

I don't get any errors, but it still doesn't post the name in the database, even though the name doesn't exist or ain't banned. :s

Hi guys,

I have had to make some changes to a database that I updated hockey players stats with. Since doing this I can no longer edit player stats in my admin section of the website. I was wondering if someone could possibly have a look at it for me. It is driving me nuts not being able to fix it.

What should happen is: I choose the player from a list of teams to update. Their stats show up on next page in a table for the different competitions they play in (league, cup, play-offs). I could then update the stats and then once pressing the edit button at the bottom, this then updates my SQL database.

Can anyone help?

While submitting this function is called, but nothing is changed. If I replace the variables with values, the function works fine, but not with variables.

I'm trying to update my database so that if someone enters an e-mail address that doesn't exist, the program updates the database with the new address. I've tested everything and $result returns the correct data every time (0 or 1) but if the address doesn't exist, nothing gets updated. I know I'm missing something, just not sure what it is...

Hello, I have a form where individuals can update there personal information that is already stored in a database,
i.e name, address, phone number etc.  There are several fields they can update.  Right now it sends an email to the owner that an individual has updated their records, and sends all the fields that are in the table.

Is it possible to let the owner be notified by email which individual field was updated?  Example their phone number has changed they make the update and the owner gets an e-mail with just that field update.

At the moment  I am creating a search function for my website.
The approach I have in mind is a pseudo-PHP database. To give an example:

A HTML form will submit the results to a PHP file.

HTML FORM - Colour: Black
PHP RESULT PAGE - if ($_POST['color'] == 'Black') {readfile("./products/black/*.html");}
HTML FORM - Price: <$50
PHP RESULT PAGE - if ($_POST['Price'] == '<$50') {readfile("./products/less50/*.html");}

The problem here is if there is an item that is black and costs less than $50, then its going to be listed twice. There is probably some code I can write to ommit the listing of duplicate entries, but it is probably going to be messy, so I am wondering if its better to use a centralized MySQL database, rather than a pseudo-PHP database? I've never used MySQL and don't know much about it and this is my first real attempt at using PHP.
