PHP - Php Form Is Only Sending First Character Of Text Field To Database
I have a PHP Form where users have to enter and upload a file but when they click upload everything is working except that it is only sending first character of text field to Database!
Can any one help?? What I'm trying to do is have a form, when submitted, create an attachment (the attachment appends the form values if it is already created) AND send the form values to myself as well as the person filling in the form (so to the email address in the 'email' field). I have several php files that do everything except I cant get it to email to the address in the email field and I cant see where I'm going wrong. I am NOT very php literate and these files were created for me although I understand how they work mostly. Thanks! a) how to pull-in values from a delimeted text field (in a MySQL table) and check/select the appropriate checkboxes, based on the values that were stored in the text field,
b) how to write any changes (made by the user) back to the tables' text field.
Note that this is for an "update.php" file/process.
My "create.php" file/process uses the following HTML to display and accept the checkbox values:

When the fields contain the character ' it wont write the record to the table! For example...if I enter. " John's house" it wont accept the record since ' appears in John's name! How do I work around this? Thanks I submit text to my MySQL database using a form on my site. When I look at the text in my database, sometimes, there are strange characters. The strange characters are caused by quotation marks, em dashes, apostrophes and foreign letters of the alphabet. I think that this only happens when the source of the text is a Windows program. I understand that this is a character encoding issue, but I don't fully understand the subject. I've spent the last few hours researching it, but it's only confused me.
My site uses UTF-8 encoding:

My form looks like this: <form action="" method="post"> </form>As you can see, an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute has not been specified. Questions 1) I am guessing that my problem is that the Windows characters are being misinterpreted by my UTF-8 setup. Is that correct? 2) If so, is there a way that I can safely convert the Windows characters to UTF-8 during the submission process? 3) Should I also specify an accept-charset="utf-8" attribute on the form? 4) When I paste the Windows text directly into my database without using the form, the characters save without turning into the strange characters. But they don't render properly on my site. Can't browsers identify Windows characters? If I was pulling back data from MySQL that was like this "monkeys / dogs / cats", how would I grab just "monkeys" from that using PHP? In other words, I want to grab all text until a "/" is seen. Hi guys, I have script which scraps content from web and writes it down in a text file, now everything seems to be okay. Its scraps and writes well but the problem is when i open that text file one weird character keeps coming after some words which i don't know about. I have attached the text file, will you guys please look at it and tell me how to replace that square looking character into new line in text file. |
