PHP - Mysql Insert Skipping Over Field
I have a script that uploads and images, creates 2 versions of it, re-sizes the images and inserts all the info into a DB.
The odd thing is that if I don't have an image to upload, it will still run the script but it will completely skip over the description. If I upload an image, it works fine. Not too sure what the issue is. Is it because my variable of $desc causing a conflict? Here's my code: Code: [Select] <?php ini_set("display_errors",1); include 'dbconn.php'; $change=""; $abc=""; define ("MAX_SIZE"," 10000"); function getExtension($str) { $i = strrpos($str,"."); if (!$i) { return ""; } $l = strlen($str) - $i; $ext = substr($str,$i+1,$l); return $ext; } $errors=0; if($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] == "POST") { $image =$_FILES["file"]["name"]; $uploadedfile = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; if ($image) { $filename = stripslashes($_FILES['file']['name']); $extension = getExtension($filename); $extension = strtolower($extension); if (($extension != "jpg") && ($extension != "jpeg") && ($extension != "png") && ($extension != "gif")) { $change='<div class="msgdiv">Unknown Image extension </div> '; $errors=1; } else { $size=filesize($_FILES['file']['tmp_name']); if ($size > MAX_SIZE*1024) { $change='<div class="msgdiv">You have exceeded the size limit!</div> '; $errors=1; } if($extension=="jpg" || $extension=="jpeg" ) { $uploadedfile = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; $src = imagecreatefromjpeg($uploadedfile); } else if($extension=="png") { $uploadedfile = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; $src = imagecreatefrompng($uploadedfile); } else { $src = imagecreatefromgif($uploadedfile); } echo $scr; list($width,$height)=getimagesize($uploadedfile); $newwidth=150; $newheight=($height/$width)*$newwidth; $tmp=imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth,$newheight); $newwidth1=50; $newheight1=($height/$width)*$newwidth1; $tmp1=imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth1,$newheight1); imagecopyresampled($tmp,$src,0,0,0,0,$newwidth,$newheight,$width,$height); imagecopyresampled($tmp1,$src,0,0,0,0,$newwidth1,$newheight1,$width,$height); $famname = $_POST['famname']; $desc = $_POST['description']; $petname = $_POST['petname']; $letter = $_POST['letter']; $filename = "images/". $_FILES['file']['name']; $filename1 = "images/small". $_FILES['file']['name']; imagejpeg($tmp,$filename,100); imagejpeg($tmp1,$filename1,100); imagedestroy($src); imagedestroy($tmp); imagedestroy($tmp1); }} } //If no errors registred, print the success message if(isset($_POST['Submit']) && !$errors) { $insert="insert ignore into tbl_tribue (petname, familyname, letter, description, imgpath, thumbpath) values ('$petname','$famname','$letter','$desc','$filename','$filename1')"; mysql_query($insert); //mysql_query("update gallery set imgpath='$filename'"); $change=' <div class="msgdiv">Pet Added Successfully!</div>'; print $insert; } ?> I had turned on the error and the print to see the output. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Similar TutorialsWe have a php application that is just a form, that takes in data to a mysql database and then displays that data in queue(php web page) for the client. It has been working for the past 5 or more years. Six weeks ago, the client noticed that the numbering started skipping a number each time a request was entered. It then seemed to stop, now it has started again. See attached image. Some detail he after user has completed web form and hits submit, three fields are populated in the mysql "REQUEST" table, then the actually data from the submitted web form is sent to the ANSWER table. The REQUEST table is in sync and is always populated, and numbering is in sequence but upon submit, the actual data from the request does NOT always go to the ANSWER table hence the "skipping of numbers." What do I even begin looking at/for to determine what happened? Reminder: this is a 5+ year old app that worked fine until maybe 6 weeks ago. No changes have been made to the database or the code base since 2008. The code that adds the data to the ANSWER table [the one that appears to skip] is below. The applicate is in php 4.3.1, mysql 5, linux server. Hi: I'm going crazy trying to do the following: I'm making a job registration process where the user registers on one php page to the website, must acknowlege and email receipt using an activate php page, then is directed to upload their C.V. (resume) based on the email address they enter in the active page output. I then run an upload page to store the resume in teh MySQL db based on the users email address in the same record. If I isolate the process of the user registering to the db, it works perfectly. If I isolate the file upload process into the db, it works perfect. I simply cannot upload teh file to the existing record based on teh email form field matching the user_email field in the db. With the processes together, teh user is activated, but teh file is not uploaded. Maybe I've simply been at this too long today, but am compeled to get through it by end day. If anyone can help sugest a better way or help me fix this, I will soo greatly appreciate it. My code is as follows for the 2 pages. ---------activate.php------- <?php session_start(); include ('reg_dbc.php'); if (!isset($_GET['usr']) && !isset($_GET['code']) ) { $msg = "ERROR: The code does not match.."; exit(); } $rsCode = mysql_query("SELECT activation_code from subscribers where user_email='$_GET[usr]'") or die(mysql_error()); list($acode) = mysql_fetch_array($rsCode); if ($_GET['code'] == $acode) { mysql_query("update subscribers set user_activated=1 where user_email='$_GET[usr]'") or die(mysql_error()); echo "<h3><center>Thank You! I have a register script, and I am wanting to make it so that if the username field contains, lets say "mod", "ass", and more, then it'll return an error and wont let them register. Hi guys I have the code below and have 4 text fields, the issue is i'd like to prevent insert query if textfield is empty, do u know how? if (isset($_POST['register']) && $_POST['register']) { $reference = rand(11111111,99999999); $name1 = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['name1'])); $name2 = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['name2'])); $name3 = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['name3'])); $name4 = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['name4'])); $addname4=mysql_query("INSERT INTO nearest (stref, name) VALUES('$reference','$name4')"); $addname3=mysql_query("INSERT INTO nearest (stref, name) VALUES('$reference','$name3')"); $addname2=mysql_query("INSERT INTO nearest (stref, name) VALUES('$reference','$name2')"); $addname1=mysql_query("INSERT INTO nearest (stref, name) VALUES('$reference','$name1')"); } thanks For instance if i set the following 2x variables; "$varOne = $_GET[first_name]" "$varTwo = $_GET[last_name]" "$varThree = $_GET[userid]" how do i insert them both together into a DB field for example: $full = $varOne,$varTwo,$varThree (without the , ) this would then be echo as : joebloggs66985 i have the INSERT in there atm but i wanted to insert first name and last name together with there userid to generate a sort of username possibility. sorry if i didnt explain correcly Hello, I'm having a bit of a problem here, all help to this issues would be much appreciated I am trying to use text boxes to insert numbers into the database based on what is inputed. If I have a string, like this for example: $variable = 09385493; And I want to insert it into the database like this: mysql_query("INSERT INTO integers(number) VALUES ('$variable')"); When checking the integers table in my database, looking at the number field, the $variable that was inserted is outputted as 9385493 Notice the number zero was taken out of the front of the number. If the number is double 0's (009385493), both of those zero's would disappear, too. Thanks Hi guys I have a registration form working fine, my database is as below: userid username password repeatpassword I have added another column which is "name", users can update their profile once they have logged in so I have created updateprofile.php and when I login-->go to update profile and insert my name nothing adds to mysql name column this is my code below: <?php include ("global.php"); //username session $_SESSION['username']=='$username'; $username=$_SESSION['username']; //welcome messaage echo "Welcome, " .$_SESSION['username']."!<p>"; if ($_POST['register']) { //get form data $name = addslashes(strip_tags($_POST['name'])); $update = mysql_query("INSERT INTO users (name) VALUES ('$_POST[name]') WHERE username='$username'"); } ?> <form action='updateprofile.php' method='POST'> Company Name:<br /> <input type='text' name='name'><p /> <input type='submit' name='register' value='Register'> </form> can you please tell me where in this code is wrong?
