PHP - Split String To Array
Hello,
I have a string that contains a directory path much like: "/images/icons" and I want to take that string through a function and explode it into an array of directories that with add my directory structure array: images icons Then if I were to send the string "/data/documents" to the function it would append to the existing array: images icons data documents Here's the code that I've got thus far: <?php $global_structure = array(); generate_structure("./images/icons"); generate_structure("./data/documents"); function generate_structure($directory) { if(!is_dir($directory)) return false; $directory_structure = explode("/", $directory); // do something here to iterate over $global_structure and add new directories to equal to current directory path making the value an empty array. } ?> Similar TutorialsHi! So what I'm trying to do is split a multi dimensional array of strings ( each containing 3 strings inside of 1 array ) so I can write the results to a file. So say I had a bunch of strings inside 1 array : class File { function WriteFile ( $filename, $content ) { $list = [ $content ]; $delimiters = File :: checkDelimiter ( $content, true, false ); $fp = fopen ( $filename, 'w' ); foreach ( $list as $fields ) { $fields = File :: SplitFileByDelimiter ( $fields, ",", 3 ); file_put_contents ( $filename, $fields ); } fclose ( $fp ); } } $file-> File :: WriteFile ( $filepath . $filename, "TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, " . "TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, " . "TEST!, TEST!, TEST!" ); Instead of writing : TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST! ,TEST!, TEST!, TEST! to the file in a straight line, it should write it like this : TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST!, TEST! Any help is ABSOLUTELY appreciated! Edited May 22 by AquariaXI hi everyone, i have a string as this one: 45,3455,66,8900,2,49,88,8,909 I need to print it with a new line every 4 numbers, as this one: 45,3455,66,8900, 2,49,88,8, 909 How can i do this? many thanks I need to split a string, but in a very unusual way. $string1 = "HelloWorld" $string2 = "AlphaBravo" $string3 = "BreakMeUp" I need the following split at each upppercase letter for this output Hello World Alpha Bravo Break Me Up I've been trying to figure out how to split up strings such as the following: A54a1, 23b, FX49s1, R231z, 77 I would like to split them up and add them to individual arrays that are as follows: index[0] -> alphabetical characters, if any, prior to the first number, if any index[1] -> numerical characters, as a number, up until the following alphabetical character index[2] -> alphabetical character(s), if any index[3] -> numerical characters following the second alphabetical character set, if any So, for example, the above strings would be separated like this: A54a1 == ('A', 54, 'a', 1) 23b == (, 23, 'b',,) FX49s1 == ('FX', 49, 's', 1) R231z == ('R', 231, 'z',,) 77 == (,77,,) I've looked into things like strpos(), but I can't figure how to determine whether a character is alphabetic or numeric. And yes, I am familiar with the function is_numeric(). Just don't know how to throw it all together to accomplish what I need. I have a large amount of text, (text can be different at any time), I count the number of characters in the string,and divide it by 2 so that half of the text will be in one variable, the other half in the other, however I am not sure how to get the split function, or whichever function to split it by the number of characters. example: $text = "lorem ispum dolar sit amet, consecterur adiscing elit. Donec dictum placerat sapien, in eliefend liber"; $cut = strlen($text)/2; //(here's where i cannot get it to work/do not know which function to use and how to use it) //but what I want it to do is to split it half way. We have a database that shows for example: 2500-5000 5000-10000 10000-15000 15000-20000 I need to show in a screen what people are have 3000 followers, and as such as grouped into that 2500-5000. The best way I can see how to do this, is to run through the database table for these values. Then for each value, put the first and second set of numbers into two respective variables, say $low, $high. Then find those people who are on a particular platform with followers between those two values. So how do I turn $row->followsrange (which might be for example: "2500-5000"), into:
$low = 2500 Many thanks. ps I have a feeling the hyphen might play a bit part, as it cannot be done by the amount of characters.......... My string is like this: line 1 line 2 .... line 3453 line 3454 etc... I want to split the string into chunks of 500 lines, do something with those chunks and then reassamble the main $string again. The last chunk doesn't need to be 500 lines it can be less. How can I do it? How could I split a string in half but not in the middle of a word? $information = "This is the string of text, however at some point in the sentence a word may get split in half."; $cut = round(strlen($information)/2); ///where to cut (50%) $split1 = substr($information, 0, $cut); //first half $split2 = substr($information, $cut); // second half i have a set of array's with a similer layout as t127201103111200 what i need to do is split it like this t:1:27:2011:03:11:1200 (where the : is where i want the split but not add the : ). so i end up with this. $a = t $b = 1 $c = 27 $d = 2011 $e = 03 $f = 11 $g = 1200 what i think i need to do is Code: [Select] split(char1($a), char2($b), char3,4($c)...........................) but have no idea where to start. Thanks for any help I have a variable on my page called, $recipe['ingredients']; inside the var you have for example.... 100ml milk, 350ml double cream, 150ml water and so on. Now Im trying to split it up so it looks as follows <ul> <li>100ml milk</li> <li>350ml double cream</li> <li>150ml water</li> </ul> So far I have the following code..... $ingredientsParts = explode(',', $row_rs_recipes['ingredients']); $ingredients = array($ingredientsParts); while (! $ingredients) { echo" <li>$ingredients</li>";} But for some reason it doesnt work and I do not have the exp with explode to fix it. I have an array like this
$rows = array( array( 'fruit.name' => 'Apple', 'fruit.colour' => 'Red', 'fruit.weight' => '0.1', 'vegetable.name' => 'Carrot', 'vegetable.colour' => 'Orange', 'vegetable.weight' => '0.05' ), array( 'fruit.name' => 'Banana', 'fruit.colour' => 'Yellow', 'fruit.weight' => '0.7', 'vegetable.name' => 'Potato', 'vegetable.colour' => 'Brown', 'vegetable.weight' => '0.6' ) ); So I'm trying to create an Array from a comma separated string containing array{s}. How can I take a string full of comma separated hex values such as : <?php $myStr = ( "00ffff", "00cccc", "009999", "007777", "004444", "001111", "01ffff", "01cccc", "019999" ); ?> & turn it into 3 separated arrays like : <?php $myNewArrs = [ Array1 ( 3 ), Array2 ( 3 ), Array3 ( 3 ), ]; ?> which REALLY looks like : <?php $myNewArrs = [ Array ( "00ffff", "00cccc", "009999" ), Array ( "007777", "004444", "001111" ), Array ( "01ffff", "01cccc", "019999" ), ]; ?>
? Thank you & have a great afternoon!
Edited May 27 by AquariaXI My query gets the results and orders by one of the fields. Once I get the MySQL results I would like to find the first entry that has a letter as the first character of the same field that the list was ordered by, then split the results in to two parts and swap them. So that the results that have a letter at the start of the same sorted field are as the begining and the results that have the numbers as the start at the end of the array. But also so that the array works the same way as the original results string, so i can use say $results['mysqlfield'] Hi I need to know how to arrange this thing looking something like an array to be able to find values from it. The problem is, I don't really even know what I am dealing with here. Wonder if you could help me out. I have the following mess stored in a $messages variable: {"messages":[{"message_id":2314446,"from":"441234568790","timestamp":1280703181,"text":"first text"},{"message_id":2315147,"from":"123456789014","timestamp":1280755014,"text":"another text"}],"unread":0} and I don't know how to do the following: I need is to get only the message text from any message that matches my wanted phone number. For example: I want to get the text value from message which from is 123456789014. /Henry Hi all, Im so stuck on this! Cant figure out a solution... $precip_array[0] has a value of "80" in it as a string. I need to compare it to an integer. echo (int)$precip_array[0] returns a "0". Ive also tried adding a 0 but that results in the same. I did a var_dump on $precip_array[0] which returns string(17) "80" I think 17 signifies the length of the string, but I only see 2 digits when I echo this. Any help is much appreciated. OK so here is what I want to do. I have a bunch of strings stored in a table. The strings are like this grandparent.parent.child. some are just parent.child What I want to do is Select all and then put them into an array. soooo x.y.z would become $Var['x']['y']['z'] and a.b would become $Var['a']['b'] It has to be dynamic because some strings are just 2 levels, and it goes all the way up to 6 levels. I have different plans for setting the variably to something but I can handle that. Any ideas? Hello, I'm going to be sending emails to users from a community calendar showing events for the day or a time frame specified elsewhere. The problem I'm having is turning results of DB query into a string when there are multiple results for the day. It works just fine with single results. I understand why it doesn't work but can't figure out how to solve the problem. Don't worry about the $eventdate as that comes from the same array as the $event_id used to call the array shown below. I tried foreach and implode but couldn't get it working so I'm starting over and asking for your guidance on how is the best way to pull this off. Thanks for your help. Code: [Select] $getevent = mysql_query("SELECT title, description from ".$conf['tbl']['events']." WHERE event_id=$event_id AND private=0"); WHILE ($gtevent = mysql_fetch_array($getevent)) { $event_title=$gtevent['title']; $event_description=$gtevent['description']; $message="<p><span style=\"font-size:24px\">$event_title</span><br />$eventdate</p><p>$event_description</p>"; } Hi everybody, I need some help about how to convert string to array name. I have the following function which pass $_REQUEST type as parameter. It is not working because I don't know how to convert $method to $_GET or $_POST in a proper way. Do anybody know how? Code: [Select] function validateIfFilled($method, $fields) { $exploded=explode(",",$fields); foreach($exploded as $field){ if(empty($method[trim($field)])){ return false; } } return true; }; if(!validateIfFilled('$_GET', "email, password, address")) ... Thank you! Hello I am facing a problem which i can not handle. I appreciate for any help. My Database is: Code: [Select] CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `shops` ( `id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `options` text, `user_name` varchar(250) NOT NULL , PRIMARY KEY (`id`), UNIQUE KEY `user_name` (`user_name`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COMMENT='user data stored' AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; And some sample data as below: Code: [Select] INSERT INTO `users` (`id`, `options`, `user_name`) VALUES (1, 'apple-orange-grape-bmw-toyota-fig-', 'user1'), (4, 'apple-tomato-pc-notebook-yellow-', 'user2'), (5, 'blue-green-orange-cdrom-', 'user3'), (6, 'orange-yellow-blue-pink-bread-', 'user4'); How can i display how many apples or green or any item selected by user? So far i tried in_array, array_count_values but seems no one is working. Regards If I wanted to print a string that contains a variable that also contains an array, how would I do so? I want to put the resulting echo into a log file. Example: “These are the books: $userArray and these are the pages: $pagesArray”; With just an array, I can use print_r($array, true) to get an array formatted for use in a string (which works well for my purposes) but this doesn’t work with two arrays unless I do this manually. (Such as setting the $user_array = print_r($userArray). But I want to write a function that will take a string, potentially containing arrays (as variables), and interpolate/make them legible for humans. (Some of the arrays are also multidimensional.) But it looks like I can't even concatenate a string and an array. $string = $string . $array. gives an error, array to string conversion. I don’t understand PHP very well so please explain what is going on here. and the best way to record something like the Example above. |
