PHP - Comment Form For News Posts Problems...
as far as everything goes, i have it working but not quite perfect yet...
you may assume already what im trying to do, and yes im making a comment box option for each news posting I have. I have it working up to the point of showing comment posts and posting them. But my issue is, anytime i submit a comment for one news post, it will repeat the post for how many news postings i have and will place them in each news posting. so i need some help to prevent this lol. here's my code Code: [Select] <?php //News Code Here $dbtn = 'news'; $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM $dbtn ORDER by id DESC LIMIT 10") or die("query failed: " . msql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { list($id, $header, $date, $news, $edate) = $row; $news = nl2br($news); $date = date("M j, Y",strtotime("$date")); echo '<table width="680" border="0" cellpadding="14" cellspacing="0">'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="newspost">'; echo '<font size="+2"><b>'.$header.'</b></font><font size="-1" color="#CCCCCC"> - '.$date.'</font><br />'; echo '<hr color="#FFFFFF" width="100" align="left" size="1">'; echo ' - '.$news.$edate; echo '</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td>'; $comres = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM comment WHERE menu_title='$dbtn' AND post_id='$id' ORDER by date DESC") or die("query failed: " . msql_error()); while($rows = mysql_fetch_array($comres)){ list($comid, $menu_title, $post_id, $comdate, $comname, $comment) = $rows; $comment = nl2br($comment); $comdate = date("M j, Y",strtotime("$comdate")); echo 'User: '.$comname.'<br />'; echo ' - '.$comment; echo '<div align="right"><font color="grey">'.$comdate.'</font></div>'; } echo '<a class="show_hide" rel="#slidingDiv_'.$id.'">Comment</a>'; echo '<div id="slidingDiv_'.$id.'" class="toggleDiv" style="display: none;">'; if(isset($_POST["add"])){ $name = $_POST["comname"]; $comment = $_POST["comment"]; $querys = "INSERT INTO comment (menu_title, post_id, date, name, comment) VALUES ('$dbtn', '$id', CURDATE(), '$name', '$comment')"; mysql_query($querys) or die("Error, insert query failed: ".mysql_error()); echo '<br /><br />Thank You!'; } else { echo '<form method="post">'; echo '<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2">'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top">Name</td>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top">Comment</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top"><input name="comname" size="25" type="text" id="comname"></td>'; echo '<td align="left" valign="top"><textarea name="comment" id="comment" cols="40" rows="4"></textarea></td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td> </td>'; echo '<td align="right" valign="top"><input name="add" type="submit" id="add" value="Submit"></td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</table>'; echo '</form>'; echo '</div>'; } echo '</td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '</table>'; } ?> Similar TutorialsI have a comment section that is secure against everything except spam.. I was using session_start(); but I got some error messsages about headers already being sent because I had originally used the php include function at the top of index.php to include shout.php. After reading up on it I found out that the error was caused by not having session_start(); being the first line of code. So my problem was that I wanted the comment box to be somewhere other than at the top of the page. Not sure how to move it. Anyways I'm pretty confused right now and if someone could give me some advice it would be appreciated. Hello Everyone, I'm not a programmer, so please bear with me. I have a form, and on submit, need for it to send the data 1. to formmail.cgi (a PERL script) that emails me the information and then 2. sends the data to a shopping cart script called phpcart.php I'm told the best way to do this, is to have the forms ACTION post to a php script, which executes the two scripts above. I imagine something like this: <?php send data to formmail.cgi. When finished send data to phpcart.php exit ?> I've installed a few PHP applications on my site, but writing code is beyond me. Can anyone help? I would surely appreciate it. James Hi, I'm trying to make a form that will submit a customers order into my database. The form it self is no problem and posting it to the database that part I can do, but I want this form to find existing posts in my database as the user inputs information. As an example if I add an ordrer for a customer ordering item numberr "1234" the form will search for item numberr "1234" and print it back to the form before the user submit the form, like "auto finish" the form. So in other words it will search the database "on the fly" for this item and fill it in. Could someone point me in the right direction? Somewhere in the PHP manual or maybe a good tutorial on this topic. I have a 'subscribe' form on a website that uses Ajax to validate the input fields, the form is then processed via php. The actual html code resides on a Wordpress page.
I had actually just got the form to work again. The website was static, and I transferred everything over to Wordpress, and the form didnt work. I was able to get it working by specifying the url: in ajax, as an absolute path to my php form. Overnight, something, I'm not sure what, stopped the form from processing. No data is posted to myql, and no email is sent or received. The status message just hangs at "Please wait while we process your information..." This message is in part of my Ajax code, so I am thinking something is wrong with my php script. I have a 'contact' page that uses nearly identical code that the 'subscribe' pages uses to validate the input fields, and it works.
I was able to recover both the ajax and php script from an earlier time when they did work, I uploaded back to my server and nothing, the form still does not process. I also made sure my database credentials were correct with my host, and even tested my connection to mysql which I was able to connect. Next, I made sure I was able to send mail with my host.
I don't know what is causing the form to hang, and I would love to get this solved; any help would be appreciated! I made my friend a website for his racing, and I manually update his upcoming races and have to go into the .php to add news, etc..
I was wondering if there was a way where the upcoming races could be automatically updated?
Also if there was a way where I could just easily submit a new news article through a forum and post it to the home page directly?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
If you want to take a look at what I mean, the website is bobbykendallracing . com

I'm building a website with an integrated forum what is the best system to detect and return which post is 'new', which one is 'hot' and which one hasn't changed from the user's last visit? In my user's table I store the last time the user logged in and the last time the user browsed a page... but it seems to be not enough to accurately return the information I need... Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks. Hey! So, I don't know if this is the current section, couldn't really decide on what section/board to post it, so ..
I've got a code that I got from a friend of mine (it was a gaming website (a game server), but he shut it down, I asked for some scripts, he sent me the whole site ..). I got all other scripts correctly, but I do not know how to get this Last Forum Posts to work (IP.Board). I've got the SEO set up as it should and everything, doesn't work.
When I use this
<?php $_handlerForum = new mysql("Forum","localhost","*********_fqipb2","*********_fqipb2","password"); $topics = $_handlerForum->fetch("SELECT `tid`,`title`,`last_post`,`title_seo`,`last_poster_name` FROM `topics` ORDER BY `last_post` DESC LIMIT 0,3;",array()); $content = ""; foreach($topics as $topic) { $content .= "<a href='http://website.com/forum/index.php?/topic/".$topic['tid']."-".$topic['title_seo']."' target='_blank'>".$topic['title']."</a><br /> <small class='dim'>".$topic['last_poster_name']." - ".date("H:i F d, Y",$topic['last_post'])."</small><hr style='margin: 5px 0px;' />"; } return $content; return "Under Construction"; ?>I get this error Fatal error: Class 'mysql' not found in /home/***/***/***/public_html/extra/forum.php on line 2Thought that the problem was "new mysql" (on line 2), so I put in mysql_connect, still get an error. Unfortunatly the echoed result isnt displaying as it should. $query = $link->query("SELECT t.*, p.* FROM ".TBL_PREFIX."topics t JOIN ".TBL_PREFIX."posts p ON (p.p_tid = t.t_tid) WHERE t.t_name = '".decode_url($_GET['t_name'])."' LIMIT 1") or die(print_link_error()); $row = $query->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); $tag_query = $link->query("SELECT p_name FROM ".TBL_PREFIX."posts WHERE MATCH (p_tags) AGAINST ('".$row['p_tags']."' IN BOOLEAN MODE) ")or die(print_link_error()); $result = $tag_query->fetch(); foreach($result as $key => $value) { echo 'Name = '.$result[$key]['p_name'].'<br />'; } i have done a dump of result and it shows: Code: [Select] $ => Array (2) ( ['p_name'] = String(12) "File Updates" ['0'] = String(12) "File Updates" ) but there should only be one item in this array(p_name). I dont know where the second is coming from. The query has pulled the right results, it just isnt displaying it right. I have made a website that deals with the sales of different products. It handles the total sales of a specific product. One of the aspects of the website is that it can change the current sales data of the products. At the moment I can change the sales figures fine however I have to click the submit button once and then physically refresh the page for it to change the data in the table. Is there a way that I can automatically refresh the page once the submit button is pressed? I have tried using headers for example: Code: [Select] if (!empty($_POST['NSales'])) { header('location: currentpage.php'); } however this just constantly refreshes the page. Any help would be greatly appreciated hey I am not usually in this php forum, I am usually around html/css but a task arose and I figure since this forum uses smf it would be a perfect place to ask.
