PHP - Help Needed Pulling Text Links Into A Navigation. Please
hello.
i have a navigation which i downloaded from Code: [Select] http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/ddaccordionmenu-bullet.htm and i would link to pull the information in from my db this is the html Code: [Select] <div class="arrowlistmenu"> <h3 class="menuheader expandable">title</h3> <ul class="categoryitems"> <li><a href="#">link</a></li> </ul> <h3 class="menuheader expandable">title</h3> <ul class="categoryitems"> <li><a href="#">link</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="subexpandable">nested title</a> <ul class="subcategoryitems" style="margin-left: 15px"> <li><a href="#">title</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">title</a></li> </ul> <div> </div> in the database each link and title have there own parent id and level id so for example: $level $parent_id $title $link $url Similar TutorialsHey all!. I was wondering if there was a way to process information from major websites using php? It seems I am running into issues. Here is what I am trying to do: I need to pull the full list of companies from pinksheets.com that are listed on the exchanges. I can download the list via XLS format, but I need to do this for all the exchange websites such as nasdaq etc. Is there a way to do this where I can comb for the information such as CEO name, ticker , company name and any companies that get taken off or added to the list? The lists I am already talking about are on the sites I mentioned and you can look them up but I am adding 40,000+ companies to my site it manually entering them would be a huge issue,. Do any of you have any fixes? Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Thanks!. Smash. I am relatively new to PHP, trying to learn more every day. I have been enjoying using Server Side Includes in my sidebars, footer etc with good results, much handier and more efficient! I would like to do the same for the header and main site navigation. However, the main problem that I am not sure how to deal with comes from having 'active' links (differently coloured menu tab for the page the user is on) in my menu. Here is a small menu example: Code: [Select] <div class="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="nav.php" class="active">Home</a></li> <li><a href="nav2.php">About</a></li> <li><a href="products1.php">Products</a></li> <li><a href="products2.php">Products 2</a></li> <li><a href="products3.php">Products 3</a></li> </ul> </div> When the user is on the Home page, the class is set to active - i.e. a different colour. If I do a simple server side include with my navigation this will of course be across all the pages. Can anyone please advise on what I need to do to make the menu work correctly across all the pages? (have different tabs selected for each respective page). Any help / insight is much appreciated. I'm ok with PHP but probably not half as good as some of you guys on here. I am basically trying to find a way to grab a line from a huge and I mean huge text file.... its basically a list of keywords I want to call by line number but without preferably going through them all before I get to that line.....otherwise couldmcrash my server obviously. At the moment im using this Code: [Select] $lines = file('http://www.mysite.com/keywords.txt'); // Loop through our array, show HTML source as HTML source; and line numbers too. foreach ($lines as $line_num => $line) { echo "$line_num"; } This works but im sure theres gotta be a better way of doing to save on usuage because this is putting the whole file into the memory and if I can simply say to php give me line number 97, would umm RULE.... Hope you guys can come up with a solution as your much smarter than me ty Hi all. Working on a nav system using the document_root variable. I can't figure out why the links won't execute when I click them. When I mouse over a link, it shows the correct URL, but nothing happens when I click the links. The browser remains on the same page. The page <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>vCTO-Home</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" media="screen" /> <?php include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/php/var.php');?> </head> <body> <?php include($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . "/php/t1.php");?> </body> </html> t1.php <div class="tier"> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/index.php">Home</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/demand_management.php">Demand Management</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/engineering.php">Engineering</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/steady_state.php">Steady State</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/communications.php">Communications</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/business_management.php">Business Management</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/risk_management.php">Risk Management</a> <a href="<?php echo $docroot;?>/other.php">Other</a> </div> var.php <?php $docroot=$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']; ?> I have the following three links in same page.
http://localhost/fol...ile.php?x=link1
http://localhost/fol...ile.php?x=link2
http://localhost/fol...ile.php?x=link3
i want to show URLs as they are...
link1 is to include a file named "x.php"
link2 is to include a file named "y.php"
link3 is to include a file named "z.php"
Can it be done in php only?
PS: its not about creating hash ids. and i want to do it without any sql db connection.
I'm importing some text files from my windows servers in to a SQL database, but I'm running in to what I think is some sort of issue with either a special character or something to do with UTF-8, or UTF-16... I haven't dealt with this before, so I'm really not even sure. I read in the file as such: $handler = fopen($file, "r"); $Data = fread($handler, filesize($file)); fclose($handler); The text file itself contains the data formatted like this: Quote Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.". The specific error code was 0xC00402C7. The message sender was <>. The message was intended for the following recipients. OnlineHelp@somedomain.com If I simply echo out this data: echo $Data It'll come out in Firefox like the following. And I can see FF is choosing to view it as Western (ISO-8859-1), but if I choose to use Unicode (UTF-16) then the data displays correctly. Quote Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.". The specific error code was 0xC00402C7. The message sender was <>. The message was intended for the following recipients. OnlineHelp@EliteRacing.com And finally, if I try to insert the data in to SQL, the data looks like this: Quote INSERT INTO Badmail VALUES( 2 , '00360053425643112201000000004.BDR' , 'U n a b l e t o d e l i v e r t h i s m e s s a g e b e c a u s e t h e f o l l o w e r r o r w a s e n c o u n t e r e d : " T h i s m e s s a g e i s a d e l i v e r y s t a t u s n o t i f i c a t i o n t h a t c a n n o t b e d e l i v e r e d . I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions anyone has. Thank you. This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=318486.0 Say I have a chunk of code that looks like this (contains imagesx): Code: [Select] <span style="color: #0000BB">$width </span><span style="color: #007700">= </span><span style="color: #0000BB">imagesx</span><span style="color: #007700">(</span><span style="color: #0000BB">$img</span><span style="color: #007700">); <br /> within the code I would like to make all the php functions link to php.net I thought that the following code would work, but it does not, well because there is no spaces around the above word public function phpLinks($string){ $words = explode(" ", $string); $str = array(); foreach($words as $word){ if(function_exists($word)){ $str[] = preg_replace("/$word/i", '<a href="//php.net/'.strtolower($word).'">'.$word.'</a>', $word); }else{ $str[] = $word; } } return implode(" ", $str); } I now can not think of a good way to do this, so I am asking does anyone have any suggestions? The Issue (note: sorry for double post in the regex forum.) My users can post comments. I want to turn the hidden links within those comments into clickable URLs. I have the following function to do this: Code: [Select] if (!function_exists('create_link')) { function create_link($url) { $pattern = "#((http|https|ftp)://(\S*?\.\S*?))(\s|\;|\)|\]|\[|\{|\}|,|\"|'|:|\<|$|\.\s)#ie"; $link_title = character_limiter(preg_replace($pattern, "$3", $url), 50); $link = preg_replace($pattern, "'<a href=\"$1\" target=\"_blank\">{LINK_TITLE}</a>$4'", $url); if ($link == $url) { $url = 'http://' . $url; $link = preg_replace($pattern, "'<a href=\"$1\" target=\"_blank\">{LINK_TITLE}</a>$4'", $url); } if ($link != $url) { $result = str_replace('{LINK_TITLE}', $link_title, $link); } else { $result = FALSE; } return $result; } } I know that the regex is pretty bad. It kind of works, but makes every single thing with a period into a link, and messes up sometimes with target= portion where it will actually display that. I've tried a bunch of other regex's but every single one gives me problems, typically like "php unknown modifier ]" or ")" or something. here's how I call this function when users hit submit in the comment field: Code: [Select] $words = preg_split("/[\s,]+/", $comment); foreach ($words as $word) { if ($link = create_link($word)) { $comment = str_replace($word, $link, $comment); I just want to convert the right links into links. is something like: ^(((ht|f)tp(s?))\://)?(www.|[a-zA-Z].)[a-zA-Z0-9\-\.]+\.(com|edu|gov|mil|net|org|biz|info|name|museum|us|ca|uk)(\:[0-9]+)*(/($|[a-zA-Z0-9\.\,\;\?\'\\\+&%\$#\=~_\-]+))*$ any better? I don't know, nothing seems to work. I'm trying to make my text and images into clickable links. The images and text are in a database so its getting really tricky for me since I'm new to PHP. I've tried many different ways without success. Here is a snippet of the code I'm working with. As you can see, I'm also working with an image re-sizer. I would really like to make those images and text clickable links(i.e. Title). Any help is appreciated! if ($res) { while ($newArray = mysqli_fetch_array($res, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) { $detail = $newArray['id']; $photo = $newArray['photo']; $id = $newArray['title']; $price = $newArray['price']; list($width) = getimagesize($photo); // set the maximum width of the image here $maxWidth = 100; if ($width > $maxWidth) echo "<p><img alt=\"Image\" width=\"$maxWidth\" src=\"$photo\" />"; echo "Title:".$id." Price:".$price."<br/"; Hi, I am am looking to develop further the code below. This code allows me to display a left navigation bar with Main Links and then if you click a Main link, that link is listed first in the list and its' submenu appears below. For the majority of links in the navigation bar this is fine. But for about 2 of the Main links this basic navigation is not suitable. I need the navigation for 2 of the links to offer more depth. So, for example, if you click Accessories in: Shoes Trousers Shirts Accessories Looks like this if Accessories is clicked: Accessories Belts Cuff Links Wallets Shoes Trousers Shirts Looks like this if belts is clicked (Main link name changed and submenu changed): Accessories - Belts Brown leather Black Leather Multicolour Designs All casual All formal Shoes Trousers Shirts Looks like this is Brown Leather is clicked: Brown Leather Belts Armani Brown Leather Belt 32" Armani Brown Leather Belt 34" Hugo Boss Brown Leather Belt 32" Hugo Boss Brown Leather Belt 34" Shoes Trousers Shirts Currently the code does not allow for this depth in the navigation bar. Any ideas how it could be done? Do I need additional tables for each subcategory. How do I ensure the category clicked does not appear in the rest of the navigation bar, as in the code I have at the moment? Currently the code is: $res = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM categories"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($res)) { $cats[$row['categoryid']] = $row['categoryname']; } if(isset($_GET['category'])) { $selcat = $_GET['category']; } if(isset($_GET['product'])) { $prod_info = mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM products WHERE productid = ".$_GET['product'])); //Prod_Info now gets stored for use in the main display. $selcat = $prod_info['categoryid']; } if(isset($selcat)) { echo "<a href='categorylist.php?category=".$selcat."'>".$cats[$selcat]."</a>"; unset($cats[$selcat]); //Gets rid of it for later. $res = mysql_query("SELECT productid, name FROM products WHERE categoryid = ".$selcat); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($res)) { echo "<a href='product.php?product=".$row['productid']."'>".$row['name']."</a>"; } } foreach($cats AS $key => $cat) { echo "<a href='categoryview.php?category=".$key."'>".$cat."</a>"; } Thank you for looking at this post, Matt. I am trying to figure out the best approach to pull THE most recent record for display, and ONLY the most recent one. I am really not sure how to go about doing this. Ive just started into stored procedure programming and php, but havent found anything yet on this one. Thanks. So I am trying to pull the first image that was uploaded to the database. But for some reason this only works part of the time and if you delete any image in the database it seems to just pic another another random one. Any suggestions? <?php { $row = getad(); header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); $pic = ($row['image']); print "$pic"; } function getad() { $ads = array(); mysql_connect("localhost","******","********"); mysql_select_db("users"); $query = "SELECT image FROM image_ads"; $result = mysql_query($query); $i = 0; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $i ++; $ads[$i] = $row; } $id = date("z"); $index = $id % $i + 1; mysql_close(); return $ads[$index]; } ?> I'm not sure I know how to explain what I want to allow you to understand. I'm working on a ventilation app that has different fan sizes. In the input php file I have a dropdown list that's populated by what's in the database. I'd like a results page that lists the fan size and number of each size and the cfm's each fan kicks out. the problem is that I don't know how to do anything with it other than hard code it. What I'd like, is for it to also pull all of the fan sizes and list them, that way the database can be fluid. This is the code I'd like to replace with some sort of loop. //9" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=9", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity9 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //10" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=10", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity10 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //14" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=14", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity14 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //16" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=16", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity16 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //18" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=18", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity18 = $row['capacity']; } //--------------------------------------------------------- //20" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=20", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity20 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //24" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=24", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity24 = $row['capacity']; }; //--------------------------------------------------------- //36" fan $results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM fan WHERE size=36", $link); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { $capacity36 = $row['capacity']; }; Hi the I have a PDF form that generates an XFDF file (form field valies in XML form) and I am passing it to PHP for processing. Please see a sample of the XML block below: 'test.xml' file: Code: [Select] <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xfdf xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/xfdf/" xml:space="preserve"> <annots/><fields> <field name="Non"> <value>Off</value> </field> <field name="PayRequest"> <value>XYZ</value> </field> From the above XML snip it, once it's sent to PHP, I would like to somehow reference the "PayRequest" field value and retrieve the value "XYZ" and assign it to a variable. I have been kicking around some code that I thought should work, but doesn't appear to. If anyone could offer any insight to get it working that would be greatly appreciated. PHP Code: Code: [Select] $prq_ret = simplexml_load_file('test.xml'); foreach($prq_ret->xpath("//field[@name='PayRequest']") as $item) { $row = simplexml_load_string($item->asXML()); //print $item->value; print $row; } Hello all, Would anyone know how to fix this code to work so that when a user fills out a simple form it update a row in my database? The code below doesn't get the parameters from the form. The $sql = 'UPDATE services SET `Description` = "$description1" WHERE ID=1'; line works perfect only its putting in the $description literally no form parameters?? I have a feeling I need to handle this a different way but other trys with different code were not successful. Using Myphpadmin and mysql 5.1 Thanks in advanced. Code: Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <?php $con = mysql_connect('localhost', 'DATA_BASE', 'test123'); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("DATA_BASE", $con); $sql = 'UPDATE services SET `Description` = "$description1" WHERE ID=1'; mysql_query($sql, $con); if($_POST['Submit']){ $description1=$description1=$_POST['description1']; $price1=$_POST['price1']; mysql_error(); header("location:updates.php"); exit; } mysql_close(); ?> <html> <head> <title>Updates Page</title> </head> <body bgcolor="#A55125"> <div align="center"> <form method="post" action="<? echo $PHP_SELF; ?>"> <span class="forms">Description:</span><br /> <textarea name="description1" cols="40" rows="5" > </textarea><br> <span class="forms">Price:<br /> </span> <input name="price1" type="text" id="price1"><br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </div> </body> </html> MOD EDIT: [code] . . . [/code] tags added. |
