PHP - Dynamically Make All Uppercase To Capitalize ...?
Hello:
I have this little bit of code to pull all the towns and zip codes from a mySQL database: Code: [Select] <?php $result = mysql_query("SELECT zip_id,city,abbr_state,full_state,zip FROM zip_codes WHERE abbr_state = '" . mysql_real_escape_string ( $_GET['abbr_state'] ) . "' ORDER BY `city` ASC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<a href=\"Stores.php?zip_id=".$row['zip_id']."\" title=\"My Products ". $row['city']. ", ". $row['abbr_state']." ". $row['zip']." | My Items ". $row['city']. ", ". $row['abbr_state']." ". $row['zip']."\">". $row['city']. ", ". $row['abbr_state']." ". $row['zip']."</a>"; echo "<div style=\"clear: both; margin-bottom: 15px;\"></div>"; } ?> Works fine (unless some can offer a way to "improve" the code). However, all of the City Names ($row['city']) were put into the database as ALL CAPITALS, which is a bit harder on the eyes to read. Is there a "PHP way" - working with the code I posted - that will transform the ALL CAPITALS to a more readable Capitalize (in other words, Capitalize just the first letter of each town). I know that CSS offers "text-transform" and if that is a solution I'm fine with that. I just need it to display that way, not re-write it in the database. Ideas? Solution? Thanks! Similar TutorialsHi - I'm using Wordpress gravity forms plugin. I'd like to force capitalise and remove the spaces within a specific field. This is what I have but its not working. $_POST[$each] = strtoupper(rgpost($each)) works for making the characters capitals but adding && str_replace(' ', '', $each) after doens't work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

What he's trying to say is the user must enter a 100% identical to the username he registered. If the username registered is LOWERCASE he must enter a LOWERCASE username if the username registered is UPPERCASE he must enter an UPPERCASE username to LOGIN. Hi I have this script that saves data to a file, I was wondering how I can make the script write the title of the files in uppercase letters? I am new to coding mind I think is the relevent code: Code: [Select] foreach(array('daily','weekly','monthly') as $value) { $fp = fopen(DIR.$value.'_'.strtolower(str_replace('/', '', $data[$ccyValue][0])).'.csv', 'w'); if($fp) { $raw_data = array(${$value.'Pivot'}, ${$value.'_s1'}, ${$value.'_s2'}, ${$value.'_s3'}, ${$value.'_r1'}, ${$value.'_r2'}, ${$value.'_r3'}); $write_data = "Pivot, S1, S2, S3, R1, R2, R3\n"; $write_data .= implode(',', $raw_data); fwrite($fp,$write_data); fclose($fp); } else { die('Please make sure result folder is present or writable!'); } } } Thanks Antony Okay so my news script is set to view only 10 pieces of news. But I want it so that it starts a new page once I have more than 10 pieces of news. Code: [Select] <?php require("functions.php"); include("dbconnect.php"); session_start(); head1(); body1(); new_temp(); sotw(); navbar(); $start = 0; $display = 10; $query = "SELECT * FROM news ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT $start, $display"; $result = mysql_query( $query ); if ($result) { while( $row = @mysql_fetch_array( $result, MYSQL_ASSOC ) ) { news_box( $row['news'], $row['title'], $row['user'], $row['date'], $row['id'] ); } mysql_free_result($result); } else { news_box( 'Could not retrieve news entries!', 'Error', 'Error', 'Error'); } footer(); mysql_close($link); ?> I tried a few things but they failed....miserably. Hi, This line of code works just fine for me: $sql_quest = 'SELECT id, username FROM user ORDER BY id ASC LIMIT 0, 30'; I want to be able to set the integer values dynamically and I thought something like this would work: $sql_quest = 'SELECT id, username FROM user ORDER BY id ASC LIMIT' . $my_int_value . ',' . $my_int_value + 30; But it doesn't... Any ideas? I've searched around the internet and can't find a good method to do this. To start, I have a database with a field called 'fpath' that stores the filepath (root-relative) to uploaded PDF's. In this case, they're scanned personnel files. What I'd like to do is be able to download relevant PDF's based on a generated report... such as all PDF's of a certain category or all PDF's for a certain user. If there's a specific PEAR package or other script out there that you know works well, I can research it on my own.. but each search result is bringing up a different method to do it, which makes me nervous. Thanks! Is there a way to dynamically print the url of a web page once it loads? If so, how? This is for metadata purposes. Thanks! I have a slideshow that I am having to modify for my needs. The data file uses an array and i need this to be dynamic. I need to loop through all images in a directory and create the array. I have the directory being stored in a variable already. Now i just need to loop though all images in that directory to create the array like you see in the below code. You can also see the directory variable at the top. Hi PhpFreaks, I have a method that I need to be initialised dynamically and I am not sure if the code below will work I have been able to workout if the method exists but I have not found a way to it get to return the array. Hi! I am currently making a really simple photo blog. The query fetches every reference to the images which are stored on the server. I have a problem when it comes to dynamically cycling through these though. After running the query, I store each image reference in a twodimensional array like this: [["id"], ["date"], ["title"], ["filename"]] (an Array of Arrays). The image displays just fine by doing this: $pointer; //starting from the last element (image) in the array <img src="images/gallery/<?php echo $images[3][$pointer] ?>" alt="<?php echo $images[2][$pointer] ?>"> The problem is that, when I update the pointer, say for instance pointer++, the current image on the screen doesnt update. I know for a fact that the pointer updates, because I have echoed it. The basic idea is to have a previous and next link just under the image, so that the viewer can cycle the available images. Any help is greatly appreciated Hello
I am using fpdf to generate pdf files based on certain csv files. Now the client wants certain fields of the generated pdf file to be 'interactive' .
Is this possible ? Googling about editable (interactive pdf's) only confused me . any help ?
btw by interactive I mean fields that can be typed into directly by the client and then saved into the pdf .
Friends, I have a PHP script that populates a calendar based on an array as follows: $days = array(2=>array('javascript:showWhatsOnText(2);','linked-day'), 3=>array('javascript:showWhatsOnText(3);','linked-day'), 4=>array('javascript:showWhatsOnText(4);','linked-day')); echo generate_calendar(2011, 4, $days, 1, '#'); where, for instance, the 2, 3 4 are the days of the month, By extracting a series values from a MySQL database how would I generate this array dynamically. E.g I have startday, startmonth, name and text fields in the database and would need to loop through them all to create the array. I tried playing around with something like this without any luck: $queryCat1 = "SELECT * FROM $dbCalendarEvents ORDER BY id ASC"; // WHERE visible = '1' $result1 = mysql_query($queryCat1) or die (mysql_error()); $num1 = mysql_num_rows($result1); $i=0; $daysArray = array(); while ($i < $num1) { $startday=mysql_result($result1,$i,"startday"); $startmonth=mysql_result($result1,$i,"startmonth"); $name=mysql_result($result1,$i,"name"); $name=mysql_result($result1,$i,"name"); $copy=mysql_result($result1,$i,"copy"); $daysArray[$i] = $startday=>array('/weblog/archive/2004/Jan/02','linked-day'); $i++; } Your help is appreciated.
