PHP - Code Will Not Sum Negative Number In Mysql Field? :( Pls Help!)
I have a code to sum up a field called quantityHand in MySQL, in my example below, the value always return 40 as a positive number instead of 40.00- 0.00 0.00 40.00- I have used intval() or floatval() function to convert the type of variable from string to int/float but still not working. Any help please? Here is the code Code: [Select] $sql = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT itemNumber, itemDesc, quantityHand, SUM(quantityHand) AS quantityHand FROM inventory where itemNumber like '%$term%' GROUP BY `itemNumber` ORDER BY `itemNumber`"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)){ echo "<b>"; echo "</td><td style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>"; echo $row['itemNumber']; echo "</td><td style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>"; echo $row['itemDesc']; //echo "</td><td style=\"text-align: right;\">"; echo "</td><td style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>"; echo $row ['quantityHand']; echo "</td></tr>"; echo "</b>"; Similar TutorialsHi, How can I check if a variable only has these characters: - number (0-9) - decimal point (.) - positive (+) - negative (-) - dollar ($) I tried is_numeric, but it doesn't like negative values... I need to add the variable value to another variable. I have to accept numbers (including negative and decimals)... ex: 0.1 = TRUE -.1 = TRUE 12 = TRUE 1000.00 = TRUE 12a = FALSE thanks hello, i have a start time and an end time (no dates). the following works great, except for when the start time is at night, and the end time is in the morning. im thinking if i can do an if the number is negative, add 24, that it will resolve my issue. any ideas? Code: [Select] $tbilled = $tfinish - $tstart; Hello, I need to set a CSS class for the highest number in a MySQL column, and the second highest. So for instance I have a column named scores. I would want the <td> with highest scores to be <td.Winner> and the second highest to be <td. RunnerUp>. I know how to set the css part up, so just need help with creating a function. I did something similar to set the background of table cells based on the text data and that looked like this. function cssfromdate($date) { $class = array('December_January' => 'January', 'March_April' => 'March'); return $class[$date]; } while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['last_name'] . "</td>\n"; echo "<td>" . ucwords($row['first_name']) . "</td>\n"; echo "<td class=\"".cssfromdate($row['Class_Date'])."\">".$row['Class_Date']."</td>\n"; echo "</tr>"; } I am hoping I can accomplish what I need to doing something similar. Hi: I'm going crazy trying to do the following: I'm making a job registration process where the user registers on one php page to the website, must acknowlege and email receipt using an activate php page, then is directed to upload their C.V. (resume) based on the email address they enter in the active page output. I then run an upload page to store the resume in teh MySQL db based on the users email address in the same record. If I isolate the process of the user registering to the db, it works perfectly. If I isolate the file upload process into the db, it works perfect. I simply cannot upload teh file to the existing record based on teh email form field matching the user_email field in the db. With the processes together, teh user is activated, but teh file is not uploaded. Maybe I've simply been at this too long today, but am compeled to get through it by end day. If anyone can help sugest a better way or help me fix this, I will soo greatly appreciate it. My code is as follows for the 2 pages. ---------activate.php------- <?php session_start(); include ('reg_dbc.php'); if (!isset($_GET['usr']) && !isset($_GET['code']) ) { $msg = "ERROR: The code does not match.."; exit(); } $rsCode = mysql_query("SELECT activation_code from subscribers where user_email='$_GET[usr]'") or die(mysql_error()); list($acode) = mysql_fetch_array($rsCode); if ($_GET['code'] == $acode) { mysql_query("update subscribers set user_activated=1 where user_email='$_GET[usr]'") or die(mysql_error()); echo "<h3><center>Thank You! I need to generate a unique number and put it in a field called "intInstD" value ="123456" to send to Paypoint to initiate an order. They insist each order from my website has a unique number. Can anyone help with a bit of code that does this please? Much appreciated zzdave Hey guys, I m not yet an experienced coder. SO faced alot of problems. Here, I'm trying to generate a UNIQUE RANDOM NUMBER set between two numbers. Repetative occurance must be avoided by all means as I want every number so generated bears a unique value. In other words, every values that made entry into the field of my database should be differant from each others. <?php $conN=mysql_connect("localhost","root",""); if(!$conN) { die('error'.mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("freebie_allusers",$conN); $UIN=mt_rand(1,5); $locateUIN="SELECT UIN FROM user_info WHERE UIN='".$UIN."'"; $fetchUIN=mysql_query($locateUIN); $resultUIN=mysql_num_rows($fetchUIN); if($resultUIN>0) { WHAT CODE IS REQUIRED HERE SO AS TO GENERATE UNIQUE RANDOM NUMBER? } else echo $UIN; ?> Thanx in advance I'm getting the dreaded " Invalid parameter number: number of bound variables does not match number of tokens" error and I've looked at this for days. Here is what my table looks like:
| id | int(4) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | user_id | int(4) | NO | | NULL | | | recipient | varchar(30) | NO | | NULL | | | subject | varchar(25) | YES | | NULL | | | cc_email | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | reply | varchar(20) | YES | | NULL | | | location | varchar(50) | YES | | NULL | | | stationery | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | ink_color | varchar(12) | YES | | NULL | | | fontchosen | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | message | varchar(500) | NO | | NULL | | | attachment | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | messageDate | datetime | YES | | NULL |Here are my params: $params = array( ':user_id' => $userid, ':recipient' => $this->message_vars['recipient'], ':subject' => $this->message_vars['subject'], ':cc_email' => $this->message_vars['cc_email'], ':reply' => $this->message_vars['reply'], ':location' => $this->message_vars['location'], ':stationery' => $this->message_vars['stationery'], ':ink_color' => $this->message_vars['ink_color'], ':fontchosen' => $this->message_vars['fontchosen'], ':message' => $messageInput, ':attachment' => $this->message_vars['attachment'], ':messageDate' => $date );Here is my sql: $sql = "INSERT INTO messages (user_id,recipient, subject, cc_email, reply, location,stationery, ink_color, fontchosen, message,attachment) VALUES( $userid, :recipient, :subject, :cc_email, :reply, :location, :stationery, :ink_color, :fontchosen, $messageInput, :attachment, $date);"; And lastly, here is how I am calling it: $dbh = parent::$dbh; $dbh->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_WARNING); if (empty($dbh)) return false; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute($params) or die(print_r($stmt->errorInfo(), true)); if (!$stmt) { print_r($dbh->errorInfo()); }I know my userid is valid and and the date is set above (I've echo'd these out to make sure). Since the id is auto_increment, I do not put that in my sql (though I've tried that too), nor in my params (tried that too). What am I missing? I feel certain it is something small, but I have spent days checking commas, semi-colons and spelling. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? I was just wondering when you run a mysql query what the easiest way to find out the number of rows returned. Just so I can do a number of results found on a search. Thanks. Hello, i made a text site, so you can text from a website. i was making a database of the texted numbers and i found that the mysql line is not inserting the correct number, its going to the max php one. Here the code: if (array_key_exists($carrier, $carriers)) { $correctCarrier = $carriers[$carrier]; $i = 0; while($i < $_POST['amount']){ $i++; $formatted_number = $to.$correctCarrier; $result = ("$i of Your Messages Has been sent to the number ". $_POST['to'] . ".<br>" . mail("$formatted_number", "$subject", "$message") . ""); } mysql_query("INSERT INTO `msgssent` (`number`, `numberofmsg`, `subject`, `message`) VALUES (". $_POST['to'] .", '". $i ."', '". $subject ."', '". $message ."')") Or die(mysql_error()); Echo $result; } I need to create a custom PK similar to 000111-GH. whe 0001 is the counter 11 is the year GH i need randomly generated with either numbers/letters once 2012 occurs, i need the counter to be reset to 000112-DF How would i increment 0001 until 2012, then reset the first few digits back to 0001? similarly, i will have a linked table but will have a different autonumber format for client 1 the linked data would look look like this 000111-GH-001 for record 1 000111-GH-002 for record 2 but then for client 2 000211-DS-001 00211-DS-002 Can anyone provide any assistance on how to accomplish this? thank you. Suppose I have a series of numbers being stored in an SQL table, which are not uniform and constantly growing. Once the numbers in the table (in sql) hit 99,999,999, they start back at 1, and do it all over again continuously until the end of time.
If I am performing calculations in PHP on these numbers (stop date-start date), is there a function that can take a look at the next cell after 99,999,999 and acknowledge that the 1 is really 100,000,000.
In the below example, instead of using 99,999,999, we used 4 as the last number before numerical reset. Once the numbers hit 4, they reset to 1. continuously.
Example1. If I were to subtract Jan 1(start) from jan 4(stop) I would have Stopdate -Startdate = 4-1 =3.
Example2. If I were to subtract Jan 4(start) from jan 7(stop) I would have Stopdate-Startdate = 3-4 =-1 but should be 7-4 for the sake of the calculation only.
Example3. If I were to subtract Jan 8(start) from jan 11(stop), I would have Stopdate-Startdate = 3-4=-1 but should be 11-8=3 but for ease of not having to be a continuous repeating thing, can be represented at 7-4. There is no need to keep a running memory towards infinity. It just needs to know that any number after some number ending in 4 is 5, instead of reseting to 1.
jan 1 2014.......1
jan 2 2014.......2
jan 3 2014.......3
jan 4 2014.......4
jan 5 2014.......1
jan 6 2014.......2
jan 7 2014.......3
jan 8 2014.......4
jan 9 2014.......1
jan10 2014......2
jan11 2014......3
Hope this is not that confusing.
Long story short, I can't do a stopdate-startdate = somenumber, if that some number keeps resetting to 1 once it reached 99,999,999. As a result, my code will work perfectly until I reach 99,999,999, then I am in trouble because 1-99,999,999 is not equal to 1, where 100,000,000 -99,999,999 = 1
thanks.
Edited by Butterbean, 24 October 2014 - 02:24 PM. Hello, I am trying to create article directory for learning PHP MySql and i want to write a script for recording number of views for an article and store it in Database. Can anyone please direct me to a nice simple tutorial or help me with the steps or algorithm? Suppose the link for an article is http://www.domain.com/article.php?id=123 Do i need to put extra variables and create a tracking PHP file for it? I don't want to use AI, or a primary key to sort the data, as it could create some problems if the items are visited out of order, but I want to sort it always based upon a single element for speed.
I'm creating a table that will be populated (built), when it's corresponding entry doesn't exist, how do I get it sorted out if someone visits 2, then 7 before they visit 5 to read what's there? It's not a 2d number line, but a 3d number grid.
Edited by Q695, 09 September 2014 - 11:30 PM. How do you do this? Thanks in advance. Dear all, I would like to find the total number of individual record in MySQL with php. For example: I have different department name stored in a column in MySQL. I would like to find out the total number of each department. But I do not know the names of the department How can I do it?? Counting the total of each department without knowing their names Thanks! I’ve just read several manual pages and forum comments on "Error number 1064" but I still don’t understand what’s going on with the problem I'm having now … Also, I'm surprised that the error message mentions two different line numbers (1 and 35). Here is the error message I get : And here are the contents of my "one_more_visit_to_topic.php" file : <?php include("includes/model/database_searches/see_readings.php"); include("includes/model/database_searches/see_watchings.php"); function one_more_visit_to_topic($user_id,$topic_id) { global $db; $request_string='UPDATE forum_topic '. 'SET topic_vu = topic_vu + 1 WHERE topic_id = :topic'; $query=$db->prepare($request_string); $query->bindValue(':topic',$topic_id,PDO::PARAM_INT); $query->execute(); $query->CloseCursor(); // Remember that topic has been read by user if(!(see_if_user_has_read_topic($user_id,$topic_id))) { $request_string='INSERT INTO forum_read (fr_topic_id,fr_user_id) '. 'VALUES (:topic,:user)'; $query=$db->prepare($request_string); $query->bindValue(':topic',$topic_id,PDO::PARAM_INT); $query->bindValue(':user',$user_id,PDO::PARAM_INT); $query->execute(); $query->CloseCursor(); } // If user has already received a warning by mail, // the "alert" value needs to be toggled in the fw_watch table if(see_if_user_has_been_warned($user_id,$topic_id)) { $request_string='UPDATE forum_read SET fw_alert = :alt '. 'WHERE fw_topic_id = :topic AND fw_user_id= :user)'; $query=$db->prepare($request_string); $query->bindValue(':topic',$topic_id,PDO::PARAM_INT); $query->bindValue(':user',$user_id,PDO::PARAM_INT); $one=(int)1; $query->bindValue(':alt',$one,PDO::PARAM_INT); $query->execute(); $query->CloseCursor(); } return; } ?> Hi Please take a look at my code snippet. I don't know how to get the number of rows returned from a MySQL stored procedure so that I can handle it accordingly. Any ideas please? Thanks
Hi,
<?php $connect = mysqli_connect('localhost', 'root', '1234', 'contact'); $query ='SELECT * FROM tbl_employee ORDER BY ID DESC'; $result = mysqli_query($connect, $query); ?>
<table id="employee_data" class="table table-striped table-bordered"> <thead> <tr> <td>Name</td> <td>Location</td> <td>Department</td> <td>Phone Number</td> </tr> </thead> <?php while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { echo ' <tr> <td>'.$row["name"].'</td> <td>'.$row["location"].'</td> <td>'.$row["department"].'</td> <td>'.$row['phone_number'].'</td> </tr> '; } ?> </table>
i've got this code: Code: [Select] <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var number = 10; var url = "index.php?number=0"; function countdown() { setTimeout(countdown, 1000); $('#box').html("Selecting person in " + number + " seconds"); number --; if (number<0) { window.location = url; number = 0; } } }); </script> <center> <div id="box"> <?php error_reporting(0); $file = file('names.txt'); $rand_line = rand(0, sizeof($file) - 1); $line = $file[$rand_line]; if ($_GET['number']=="0") { echo $line; } else { ?> <script type="text/javascript"> countdown(); </script> <?php } ?> </div> it is meant to when the javascript number = 0 show a random line from file but it comes up with undefined index 'number' on line 28 How do you make php code repeat for a certain amount of times. I am only new to php and I am trying to make the code below repeat 6 times instead of repeating all the matching elements in the database. From my other coding experience I would use a for loop but as I am new to php I am not really sure how to implement the for and while loops together. I was trying to add an integer that incremented until it hit 6 and then would exit the while loop but I couldn't get it to work. This is probably a simple problem and any help would be appricated. Thanks. Code: [Select] <?php $subject_set = mysql_query("Select * FROM movies WHERE media = 'Movies' ORDER BY dateadded DESC", $connection); if (!$subject_set){ die("Database connection failed: " . mysql_error()); } while ($subject = mysql_fetch_array($subject_set)){?> <div class="par_element"> <div class="repeat_horizontal"> <div class="repeat_hor_picture"> <a href="<?=$subject['link']?>"> <img src=" <?=$subject['picture']?>" /></a> </div> <a href=" <?=$subject['link']?>"><?= $subject['title']?>.</a> </div> <?php } ?> |
