PHP - Problem Checking File Size If Else Statement
I am trying to check to see if a file size is acceptable before an upload but cant seem to get the right result no matter what i do.
if i have my if statement below coded like this Code: [Select] if($_FILES["upload"]["size"] < 1024000){ echo'entered if statement<br />'; } else{ echo'entered else statement<br />'; } Then i always am entereing the if statememnt but if i have my if statement like this Code: [Select] if($_FILES["upload"]["size"] > 1024000){ echo'entered if statement<br />'; } else{ echo'entered else statement<br />'; } then i always seem to enter the else staement. I have tried with a VIREITY of differnt size files some from like 2kb to 10mb... i believe somewhere near the > or < is my problem but i dont seem to see it Similar TutorialsI am trying to to create an if statement checking the domain name. I need to check the domain with "www" and without the "www". How can I make an OR inside an if statement "||" doesn't seem to work? I have tried this code, but doesn't work: if (($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] != 'www.domain.com')||($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] != 'domain.com')){ echo "some text here":} Hi there, I am working on a PHP web form. There is simple textbox where users can enter countries. If the user enters any of the European countries for example Spain, Germany or Italy then the web page must echo ' You entered a European country. The code I am using is: switch ($txtCountry) { case 'Germany' || 'Spain' || 'Belgium' || 'Cyprus' || 'Estonia': echo "You entered a European Country"; break; case 'Japan': echo "You entered a Far Eastern Country"; break; default: echo "Unknown Country"; break; } Now the problem is even if I enter a different country like Japan, it goes to the first Case: i.e. 'You entered a European Country' Whats the best way to use Switch case to check multiple values. Is my Syntax correct or do I need to use single quote of double quote here. Please reply. Thank you! This is my registering script: <?php include('connectvars.php'); $user_email = strip_tags(trim($_POST['email'])); $firstname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['firstname'])); $lastname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['lastname'])); $nickname = strip_tags(trim($_POST['nickname'])); $password = strip_tags($_POST['password']); $repassword = strip_tags($_POST['repassword']); $dob = $_POST['dob']; $find_us_question = strip_tags(trim($_POST['find_us_question'])); if (isset($_POST['submit_signup'])) { if ((empty($user_email)) || (empty($firstname)) || (empty($lastname)) || (empty($nickname)) || (empty($password)) || (empty($dob))) { echo "Please fill out all the fields!"; } else { // check char length of input data if (($nickname > 30) || ($firstname > 30) || ($lastname > 30) || ($user_email > 50)) { echo "Your nickname, first- and/or lastname seem to be too long, please make sure you have them below the maximum allowed length of 30 characters!"; } else { // check password char length if (($password > 25) || ($password < 6)) { echo "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!"; } else { // encrypt password $password = sha1($password); $repassword = sha1($repassword); if ($password != $repassword) { echo "Please make sure your passwords are matching!"; } else { $dbc = mysqli_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME); $query = sprintf("INSERT INTO user (firstname, lastname, nickname, password, email, dob, doj) VALUES ('%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', '%s', now())", mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $firstname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $lastname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $nickname), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $password), mysqli_real_escape_string($dbc, $user_email), $dob); mysqli_query($dbc, $query); mysqli_close($dbc); echo "You have been successfully registered!"; } } } } } ?> A bunch of nested if statements, the read-ability gets worse after a while, I'm new to programming so I don't know if there's a better more read-able solution. Anyway, every time I try to sign up it's printing out the echo message: "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!" Which derives from: // check password char length if (($password > 25) || ($password < 6)) { echo "Your password must be between 6 and 25 characters!"; } else { EVEN if I stay between 6 and 25 characters it's still printing out this error message, let's say I have a password of 8 characters, and I've entered everything else correctly, it's still giving me all the time this error message, and I can not figure out why. Hi, I'm creating an upload section that limits users to upload the following file types: .zip .rar .doc .jpeg .gif When getting the type for .pdf files, it comes up as: application/force-download and for .rar files it comes up as: application/x-download If I do a check that says: if ($type=="application/force-download" || $type=="application/x-download") then will users only be able to upload .PDF and .RAR files? I'm assuming these two types will allow other formats as well. If this is the case, how can I check the extension of the file before the user is able to upload it. I was thinking of somehow capturing the last 3 letters of the filename, and then doing the check that way, except I'm not sure how to go about this. Any insight appreciated! Hi Community! :-) (Sorry for my average english) I recently started coding in php, till now, i allready have advanced skills in programming with C# and thus, had no problems writing my own script. Still, my script does not really work, i'm trying to check if a file contains a md5(string), but the script never finds the string. This is the script: (please don't mind any security issues, this is just a test. But if you have any tips and tricks to improve the security, i'd be glad to receive them) <?php $webname = $_POST["webname"]; $webcode = $_POST["webcode"]; $webpass = $_POST["webpass"]; if (file_exists("web/". $webname . ".html")) { $file = file_get_contents("web/". $webname . ".html", "r"); if (strpos(md5($webpass),$file) !== false) { $usergen = fopen("web/" . $webname . ".html", "w") or die("Unable to open file!"); fwrite($usergen, $webcode); fwrite($usergen, "<!--- ". md5($webpass) . "--->"); fclose($usergen); echo "Generated! You can view your site under /web/" . $webname . ".html"; } else { echo "The file already exists but you entered the wrong Password.<br> Pressing the \"return\" Button will bring you back without loosing the code you entered."; } } else { $usergen = fopen("web/" . $webname . ".html", "w") or die("Unable to open file!"); fwrite($usergen, $webcode); fwrite($usergen, "<br><!--- ". md5($webpass) . " --->"); fclose($usergen); echo "Generated! You can view your site under /web/" . $webname . ".html"; } echo "<FORM><INPUT Type=\"button\" VALUE=\"Back\" onClick=\"history.go(-1);return true;\"></FORM>"; ?>What it does it pretty simple, you enter some html-code that'll be stored in the "webcode" variable, a password, let's say "apple" in "webpass" and the filename is stored in "webname". On first creation, a html-file is created with the <!--- md5(apple) ---> at it's end, the HTML Tags are needed to hide the string from any visitors. If someone wants to edit the File created before, he also enters "apple". Then the string will be looked up as md5(apple) in the file. If the strings match, it's true and the changes should be saved. Whatever i do, though, i'm allways ending up here if i try to edit an existing file: "The file already exists but you entered the wrong Password.<br> Pressing the \"return\" Button will bring you back without loosing the code you entered."; As i said, i'm a newbie, i'd appreciate any tips and help. Thank you in advance! Hello! I have this validation script that seems to work great until I add the size validation. I'm ready to pull my hair out! Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Code: [Select] if (isset($_POST['Submit'])) { $user_id = $userdata[user_id]; $number_of_file_fields = 0; $number_of_uploaded_files = 0; $number_of_moved_files = 0; $uploaded_files = array(); $max_filesize = 5242880; // Maximum filesize in BYTES (currently 5MB). $upload_directory = dirname(__file__) . Hi Guys, I'm using the following code to write emails to a .txt file: // Write the email to file $leadsFile = "leads/emails.txt"; $fh = fopen($leadsFile, 'a') or die ("can't open leads file!"); $writeData = "$conEM\r\n"; fwrite($fh, $writeData); fclose($fh); which works great, but i can't figure out how to NOT write an email to the .txt file if it's already on it, i'm not using a database for a change i'm stumped lol thanks for any help guys Graham Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to determine if a user is currently downloading a file from my website. The way my site works, is the user waits 30 seconds and views an ad. After the timer is up the download becomes available. I heard that I could probably use a timestamp or something of the sort. I've read up on it but not sure how I could go about this. I've got a page that allows users to upload a file (pdf, jpg, gif png). The user must be logged in in order to upload something. I have a query that checks if the user has already uploaded a file with the same name as the name of the file they are trying to upload. If they have not uploaded the file yet, the file uploads and they get a "Success" message. If the file has already been uploaded by the user, they will get the message, "You have already uploaded that file". When the query goes through, the message that shows is, "You have already uploaded that file". I ensured the file was not already in the database, and it still shows this error. I tried changing the if statement to say: if ($duplicate==0) instead of: if ($duplicate!=0) but it always shows the same error. Any ideas of what could be wrong with my code? my sql table looks like: Field Type Null id int(11) No userid int(11) No artist varchar(50) No title varchar(50) No file varchar(2083) No uploaded varchar(3) No Code: <?php session_start(); if (isset($_SESSION['username'])){ $username = $_SESSION['username']; $submit = $_POST['submit']; include_once('inc/connect.php'); $uploadsql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `users` WHERE `username`='$username'"); $uploadrow = mysql_fetch_assoc($uploadsql); $userid = $uploadrow['id']; $folder = "sheets/fromusers/"; if (isset($submit)){ // Name of file $name = $_FILES["location"]["name"]; // Type of file (video/avi) or image/jpg, etc $type = $_FILES["location"]["type"]; //size of file $size = $_FILES["location"]["size"]; //stores file in a temporary location $temp = $_FILES["location"]["tmp_name"]; // if there is an error $error = $_FILES["location"]["error"]; $artist = strtolower($_POST['artist']); $title = strtolower($_POST['title']); // Check if fields are filled in if($artist&&$title){ if ($error > 0) { $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>An error occured. Please try again.</div>"; } else { // Determine the extension of the file // If file is This File.pdf // Then $ext is now equal to pdf $ext = strtolower(substr($name, strrpos($name, '.') + 1)); if ($ext=="pdf" || $ext=="gif" || $ext=="jpeg" || $ext=="jpg" || $ext=="png") { if ($size <= 26214400) // If size <= 25 megabytes { $duplicatecheck = mysql_query("SELECT file FROM upload WHERE id='$userid'"); $duplicate = mysql_num_rows($duplicatecheck); if ($duplicate!=0){ $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>You have already uploaded this file!</div>"; } else{ $sheetquery = mysql_query("INSERT INTO upload VALUES ('','$userid','$artist','$title','$name','no')"); move_uploaded_file($temp, $folder.$name); $success = "<div id='messagesuccess'>Upload Complete!</div><div align='center'>".ucwords($artist)." - ".ucwords($title)."</div>"; } } else{ $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>Your sheet must be less than 25 megabytes.</div>"; } } else { $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>".ucfirst($ext)." files are not allowed!</div>"; } } } else{ $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>Fill In All Fields</div>"; } } } else{ $sheeterror = "<div id='messageerror'>You must be logged in to add sheets!</div>"; } ?> <html> <head> <title>Add Sheet</title> <style> #container{ width: 350px; height: 150px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; background-color: #cccccc; } #formhold{ width: 300px; text-align: right; margin-right: auto; } #messagesuccess{ background-color: #66CD00; width: 350px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } #messageerror{ background-color: #ff2211; width: 350px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } </style> </head> <body OnLoad="document.newsheet.artist.focus();"> <?php include_once('inc/nav.php'); ?> <center> <h1>Add Sheet</h1> <br /> <div id="container"> <br /> <div id="formhold"> <form action="addsheet.php" method="post" name="newsheet" enctype="multipart/form-data"> Artist: <input type="text" name="artist" size="30"><br /> Title: <input type="text" name="title" size="30"><br /> Sheet: <input type="file" name="location" size="17"><br /> </div> <center><input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit"></center> </form> </div> <div id="bottomcont"> <?php echo $success, $sheeterror; ?> </div> </center> </body> </html> I have come across couple of similar answers for my question in this form, but could not solve my exact problem. Therefore I am posting this he I have an xml file as shown below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <document> <user> <user_id>0121</user_id> <name>Tim</name> <file>0121.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>0178</user_id> <name>Henry</name> <file>0178.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>0786</user_id> <name>Martin</name> <file>0786.file</file> </user> <user> <user_id>1239</user_id> <name>Jan</name> <file>1239.file</file> </user> </document> I ask the user to input his user_id and post this user_id and perform a check on the entire xml file to check whether the entered user_id exists in the xml file or not. If exists then I go further if not echo a error message. Can anybody pull me out of this? Thanks Hi Im trying to write info to a text file and it works perfectly with the following script, but it writes duplicate info, how can I change it so that no duplicate records are being added to my file and just ignore inserting it without giving a message?
<?php $myfile = fopen("users.csv", "a+") or die("Unable to open file!"); $mxituid = $_SERVER["HTTP_X_MXIT_USERID_R"]; $txt = "$mxituid\n"; fwrite($myfile, $txt); fclose($myfile); ?> Hello, I'm using curl to grab a new solar image once an hour or so from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (example below). I'm trying to archive new images and am struggling with that. If I download an image, the filetime() function returns the current time since I downloaded it and wrote it to a fresh file. The result is that the file is always "new", even if the image hasn't changed on the SDO website. Do you have an idea on how to check the last modified time of a file through curl or other means so that I'm not downloading duplicate images? Thanks a ton! //fetch image $ch = curl_init("http://www.somewebsite.com/theimage.jpg"); curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION,1); $file = "../images/latest/theimage.jpg"; $fp = fopen($file, "w"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FILE, $fp); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0); curl_exec($ch); curl_close($ch); fclose($fp); //this part is no good... //get last modified date if (file_exists($file)) { $filetime = filemtime($file); } I need to check a file's size with php and ssh. Everything I've seen online for remote files uses curl and port 80. I'll be checking a LAN computer that isn't running a webserver, but is running an SSH server. How can I do this? I've tried this: Code: [Select] <?php $tomorrow = date ('n-j-y'); echo system(ssh root@192.168.2.169 ls -lah "/MacRadio X/WMIS Logs/WMIS $tomorrow Log" | awk {print $5}); ?> but it didn't work. I got a T_VARIAABLE error. This was the same command I used right from the command line, and it worked. I'll also need to add a check to the file size, and if it's less than 175K, send me an email...but I'll work on that after I have the first part working. Thanks! i want to display the size of a file but i round it off to the nearest kb. I am using... ($_FILES["file"]["size"]/1024/1024)."mb" i am geting it return something like this.... 1.0313243865967mb and i want it to be more like 1.03mb any idears??? What's the maximum file size I can upload through a regular form ? If it's server dependant, how do I find out my max ? I tried to handle a 550MB file (on localhost) - I only wanted to show the filename, but it hung up for about 10secs, then returned nothing. $file="../myclients/clients/".$company_name."/Download/".$file_name; $size = filesize($path); // not working i try with function also function formatbytes($file, $type) { switch($type){ case "KB": $filesize = filesize($file) * .0009765625; // bytes to KB break; case "MB": $filesize = (filesize($file) * .0009765625) * .0009765625; // bytes to MB break; case "GB": $filesize = ((filesize($file) * .0009765625) * .0009765625) * .0009765625; // bytes to GB break; } if($filesize <= 0){ return $filesize = 'unknown file size';} else{return round($filesize, 2).' '.$type;} } echo formatbytes($file, "KB"); uploaded file size is 488 kb but it showing "unknown file size" please help me. Hi Chaps, I'm using readfile to force the download of a file: set_time_limit(0); $file = 'monkey.gif'; if (file_exists($file)) { header('Content-Description: File Transfer'); header('Content-Type: application/octet-stream'); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename='.basename($file)); header('Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary'); header('Expires: 0'); header('Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0'); header('Pragma: public'); header('Content-Length: ' . filesize($file)); ob_clean(); flush(); readfile($file); exit; } flush(); And this works fine, however, I do have some software installation files that could be downloaded (these are in excess of 280Mb). I have checked php.ini: Quote memory_limit = 128M post_max_size = 300M But Internet Explorer hangs and then crashes. Is there a way to allow big files to download using this method, or is there another way of forcing the download, without php 'reading' the file first? I'm guessing that the problem lies with the memory_limit being smaller than the file size. Is it a good idea to increase the memory_limit to eg. 280Mb? Cheers how to put code for check file size before upload in the if issertfile .the file is in format pdf or docs $targetDirg= "folder/pda-semakan/gambar/"; if(isset($_FILES['gambar'])){ $fileNameg = $_FILES['gambar']['name']; $targetFilePathg = $targetDirg . $fileNameg; //$main_tmp1 = $_FILES['surat']['tmp_name']; $moveg =move_uploaded_file($_FILES["gambar"]["tmp_name"], $targetFilePathg); }
hi, whats the best way to print labels. I have already tried the script from fpdf.de but i can not get my dot matrix printer (dot matrix is needed for this purpose) the correct layout. Its continuous paper, with size 110 height x 62mm width (for each label). I am not able to select a self-adjustable paper-size. so i hope to solve this with PHP / PDF if possible. anyone have experience with this? cheerz!! |
