PHP - Reading A Text File And Displaying Its Contents

I need to read all the rows from a text file between two specific lines into an array where I can process them. I then need to do the same thing again until the end of the file. The file is too large to read the entire file into an array. The number of rows that are between the key lines are variable.

This is what I have so far to read the first set of rows into the array but it is only reading the first row when in fact in this case there are 15. Any pointers as to where I am going wrong please?

I am trying to print out rows of images and pieces them to form a bigger map  but having a little trouble printing out correctly.

I am doing the following...

A numbered text file with rows of numbers like these:

33.txt

The number represent different area and the number in the text file represent each individual pieces of that particular area. the number of rows and columns are arbitrary.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in advance, I'm a beginner but pick things up relatively quickly, and tend to do things by trial and error.

I would like to retrieve two pieces of data from a "text file" and use them to calculate a result from a function I have in javascript. An example of the javascript code is:

Currently this is evaluated with entry from a simple html form, but I would like to have this performed "automatically".

I would like to extract the "air_temp" and "rel_hum" values under the [data] section for use in my function. I just need the "most recent" values (i.e. first), not all those contained in the file. This is a single record from that section (sorry for the mess this no doubt makes):

Would it be possible to obtain these values using PHP?, and if so any advice on how this could be done (noting my minimal knowledge) would be greatly appreciated.

Okay I don't mind telling you I am very perplexed on how to read a text file delimited with TAB into a HTML Table using PHP. I don't know where to begin, I have read about 12 examples and get more confused each time. I hope someone can help me. I am looking to read this delimited (TAB) file skipping the first line and reading array's 2,5,6,7,8,9, and 10, then displaying in a HTML Table. Corresponding Headers would be nice. I'm testing out small bits of code for myself, and I'm trying to understand why this isn't coming out how I would imagine it to...

I have my function which stores colors in an array from a text file, then I return back a random color from my array like so...

And now in the main program, I simply have this:

For some reason though, my switch statement always reads the default case, making me assume that the words "blue" "red" "green" etc... aren't matching up to what I have set the cases at. When I output what color is actually being read, it displays exactly as it should, so I don't understand why the case "red" isn't opening up when that color is chosen, or same with any of the other colors.

Is there some small conflict I'm unaware of in this tiny practice code? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I have a Php application that already has 2 buttons with input on the index page that perform some functions and output to different Php pages. Works good. How do I add a button with no input that would just perform a function and then just display a popup window showing the contents of a text file? I want to add several of these buttons for different functions and just display the contents of the resulting text files in popup windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I currently am working on a project where I code a "simple" telephone directory.

There are three main tasks that it needs to do:
1. Directory.php(index page) has a "First Name" and "Last Name" field and a search button. When a name is searched from the directory.txt file, it displays First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in findinfo.php in designated text boxes...first name, last name, etc.

2. From the findinfo.php, like previously stated, the users information is listed in the appropriate text boxes. From there, there is an update button that will overwrite the user's information to directory.txt if that button is selected. It will then say the write was sucessful.

3. (completed this step) From the index page, there is a link that will take you to addnew.php where you enter First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip and phone in a web form and write it to directory.txt.

So to sum it all up, what would be my best approach? I am totally stumped and not sure which function to use. Should I work my way from step 1 to step 2? I see it as when I do the search for the name from directory.php, it takes me to findinfo.php, listing the users information in the text boxes. From there, if I needed to, having the user's information already listed I could hit the update button to overwrite the new information to directory.txt. Doing the update when then tell me that the write was successful.

I have literally been scouring the internet for hours. What would be the best function to do this? I hope I was clear enough. Please help me out and thank you for your time.

I want to be able to upload a large amount of mp3's to a private area on our website and have a script that will scan the folder for all the filenames and then create a record in the db of all the filenames. It is to help with creating the playlist for my friends radio show. To manually insert all the filenames each month woudl be a nightmare!

it does insert the values into the db but what it does is creates 1 record and spits all the results in a really weird way like this. into the title field.

Let's say I have a script that updates the database every 5 minutes. Or fwrites to a text file at an interval.

How do I say create a dynamic textbook or label that displays this information and automatically UPDATES on the page without the user clicking on REFRESH?

why can't i write the following

it works only if i write

$ORGtext= file_get_contents('http://*site*.com'); 

but i want to put $path instead of the url at file_get_contents

is it possible and if yes then how ?
