PHP - How To Assign Different Css Values To Info Pulled From Mysql
I am trying to figure out the best way to do something if there is a way.
I am pulling values from a MySQL table and using a while loop to display the data, so it looks something like this. while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['last_name'] . "</td>\n"; echo "<td>" . ucwords($row['first_name']) . "</td>\n"; echo "<td>" . $row['Class_Date'] . "</td>\n"; echo "</tr>"; for the class dates, I want the column background to be a different color depending on the date. For instance January would hvae a blue background, February a red one etc. I was going to try and do that with CSS like Code: [Select] echo "<td class="blue">" . $row['Class_Date'] . "</td>\n"; in the CSS... Code: [Select] .blue{ background-color:#06c; } but not sure the best way to make the changing data values different colors with CSS. any suggestions? Similar TutorialsI'm trying to add ui autocomplete functionality to some fields in a form and am running into a few issues. The first is I want to be able to both add and pull multiple values from the one field. I had originally thought I could comma delimit the values and handle it that way, but it seems it's a bit more complicated than that. I've tried to explode the value but it doesn't go far enough, I think I need to find a way to refine the array down by trying to replace the comma in the code somehow. Here's my current php code: <?php //connection information $host = "localhost"; $user = "myuser"; $password = "mypass"; $database = "mydb"; $param = $_GET["term"]; //make connection $server = mysql_connect($host, $user, $password); $connection = mysql_select_db($database, $server); //query the database $query = mysql_query("SELECT cb_activities FROM jos_comprofiler WHERE cb_activities REGEXP '^$param'"); //build array of results for ($x = 0, $numrows = mysql_num_rows($query); $x < $numrows; $x++) { $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query); $activities[$x] = array(cb_activitiesterm => $row[cb_activities]); } //echo JSON to page $response = $_GET["callback"] . "(" . json_encode($activities) . ")"; echo $response; mysql_close($server); ?> Someone else had mentioned maybe using something like this: $string="([{\"cb_activitiesterm\":\"Kicking Cats, Working\"},{\"cb_activitiesterm\":\"Web Development\"}])"; $one=str_replace("([{\"cb_activitiesterm\":\"","",$string); $two=str_replace("\"},{\"cb_activitiesterm\":\"",",",$one); $three=str_replace("\"}])","",$two); echo $three; // now you can explode it ... by commas $items=explode(",",$three); But of course the problem here is he's creating the string in the php file and adding the /'s when in reality this needs to be pulled from the database and then refined. The values are currently formatted like this: ([{"cb_activitiesterm":"Kicking Cats, Working"},{"cb_activitiesterm":"Web Development"}]) Exploding simply adds a "" around the comma so it won't work. I need it to format like this: ([{"cb_activitiesterm":"Kicking Cats"},{"cb_activitiesterm":"Working"},{"cb_activitiesterm":"Web Development"}]) My second issue is I need to be able to pass multiple values into the hidden input in the script and adding a comma/space between each value. Currently if you click another value it simply replaces the prior value with the next one. Here's my script: Code: [Select] <div id="editcbprofile"> <div id="formWrap"> <div id="activities" class="ui-helper-clearfix"> <input id="cb_activitiesterm" type="text"> <input id="cb_activities" name="cb_activities" type="hidden"> </div> </div></div> <script type="text/javascript" src="autocomplete/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="autocomplete/js/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ //attach autocomplete $("#cb_activitiesterm").autocomplete({ //define callback to format results source: function(req, add){ //pass request to server $.getJSON("autocomplete/autocom.php?callback=?", req, function(data) { //create array for response objects var suggestions = []; //process response $.each(data, function(i, val){ suggestions.push(val.cb_activitiesterm); }); //pass array to callback add(suggestions); }); }, //define select handler select: function(event, ui) { //create formatted activity var activity = ui.item.value, span = $("<span>").text(activity), a = $("<a>").addClass("remove").attr({ href: "javascript:", title: "Remove " + activity }).text("x").appendTo(span); //add interest to activities div span.insertBefore("#cb_activitiesterm"); //add activity to hidden form field $('input[name=cb_activities]').val(activity); }, //define select handler change: function() { //prevent 'to' field being updated and correct position $("#cb_activitiesterm").val("").css("top", 2); } }); //add click handler to activities div $("#activities").click(function(){ //focus 'to' field $("#cb_activitiesterm").focus(); }); //add live handler for clicks on remove links $(".remove", document.getElementById("activity")).live("click", function(){ //remove current activity $(this).parent().remove(); //add activity to hidden form field $('[name=cb_activities]').val().remove(); //correct 'to' field position if($("#activities span").length === 0) { $("#cb_activitiesterm").css("top", 0); } }); }); </script> And then my 3rd issue is if you remove a value it needs to also remove it from the hidden input. I've tried several attempts of the remove() in the onclick function but I can't get it to remove it. Lol other than that it's cherry. Any advice on any of these would be great. Hi all, Just curious why this works: Code: [Select] while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){ $import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values('$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]')"; } And this does not: $headdata_1 = "'$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]'"; while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){ $import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values($headdata_1)"; }it puts $data[#'s] in the database fields instead of the actual data that '$data[0]','$data[1]'... relates to. I wrote a script to create the values in $headdata_1 based on the number of headers in $csvheaders1 but can't seem to get it working in the sql statement. With add_answer, I am not able to insert an answer. This has worked for the very first question, but all subsequent questions, I am unable to add answers. It keeps telling me ERROR. This is where the live forum is : http://www.thenewme.co.za/forum/main_forum.php Can it be an issue with the field that gets autmatically incremented? i have echo'd the data which get entered in when someone types in an answer, and everything is perfect! Can anyone help me? I used to code a long time ago - PHP5. It is slowly coming back to me but not fast enough... I need to copy data from a mysql data base and put it back in unchanged with another date reference. This is a calorie recorder that tracks daily calories - food type, calories, protein, carbs, etc. I simply want to take each entry in that day, then copy it exactly except changing the date recerence. If I could say "copy all entires where date = (date) into DB with new date (date), that would do it. The only thing I can think to do is pull each item out and place it back into the DB with a while statement. There has to be an easier way... If that is my only option, I need to figure out how to create a while statement to handle an array to do the job. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help!! David Hi Im having some trouble implementing info into a database I have a 'user' table and a display users page. How would I display them in alphabetical order by their username? Heres my current basic display page: <?php include 'dbwire.php'; include 'header.php'; $query = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM user'); while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($query)) { echo '<b>Username:</b> ' . $row['user'] . '<br />'; echo '<b>Real Name:</b> ' . $row['name'] . '<br />'; echo '<b>Email:</b> ' . $row['email'] . '<br />'; echo '<b>Location:</b> ' . $row['location'] . '<br /> <hr>'; } ?> Theres also an id row but since user wouldn't be added alphabetically I wouldn't be able to order them by id. I wish to respond specifically to PDO errors. $e->getMessage() shows something like the following: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1452 Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails... SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1062 Duplicate entry ...I suppose I can just look for 1452 and 1062, but thought using http://php.net/manual/en/pdo.errorcode.php would be better, but it is empty. I am using Server version: 10.2.18-MariaDB MariaDB Server. Any suggestions? Thanks try{ $this->pdo->prepare($sql)->execute([$value, $id, $this->accountsId]); } catch(\PDOException $e) { syslog(LOG_ERR, json_encode($this->pdo->errorCode())); syslog(LOG_ERR, json_encode($this->pdo->errorInfo())); } "00000" ["00000",null,null]
Hi there. I have this simple code which displays 5 results. How can i grab each element separately instead of displaying all the results at once. Thanks:) Code: [Select] <?php $query = mysql_query("SELECT product_name, product_price FROM products WHERE product_type = 'laptop' LIMIT 5"); $numrows = mysql_num_rows($query); if ($numrows != 0) { while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $product_name = $row['product_name']; $product_price = $row['product_price']; echo $product_name . '<br />'; echo $product_price . '<br /><br />'; } } ?> Im trying to add some info to an existing cell in a mysql database. The cell currently reads: This is a piece of information. I would like to update the cell to read: This is a piece of information. a great piece of info. I have a variable with the following; $info = a great piece of info. Is it possible to add $info to the existing cell via php eg. <?php mysql_query("UPDATE mytable SET info = '$info' WHERE row = '$row'"); ?> all fine except I dont want to SET the info to $info I simply want to add $info onto the end of the existing data in the info record. Is this possible and how do i change the above query and go about it? Many thanks Hello all, I have a membership website which is using sessions... and ive been asked to add some promotion points system. So that each user is able to see how many promotion points they have... Now, I'm a beginner in mysql and php, but feel I'm learning fairly quickly. What I need help with, is to be able to display the amount of promotion points for the logged in user. I created a new field in my "essenti1_Users" table for the promotion code. database is called "essenti1_membership" table is "essenti1_Users" feild is "promo" I think im going to have to manually add the points to each user manually through phpMyAdmin Navicat unfortunatly. Unless anyone has any other ideas just for adding the points to each user account? ziggynerja is online now Add to ziggynerja's Reputation Report Post Edit/Delete Message How can i use single quote for values? $qry='insert into tablename values('a','b');'; well I know the standard way of retrieving mysql data was through the following codes: Code: [Select] $query = "SELECT * FROM {$tablename} WHERE columnmame = '{$var}'"; $result = mysql_query($query); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); This will return all properties inside a table row by an associative array indexed by column names. I am, however, wondering if there is an easier way to retrieve database info from more than one table. For now, what I am doing is: Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query( "SELECT * FROM {$tablename} WHERE columnmame = '{$var}'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $result2 = mysql_query( "SELECT * FROM {$tablename2} WHERE columnmame2 = '{$var2}'"); $row2 = mysql_fetch_array($result2); which is a bit tedious and can cause problems when two or more coders work on the same project(it will be difficult to tell what is $row1, $row2 and $row3...). Is there away to write a simpler code than the one above? I mean, if it is possible to run mysql_fetch_array only once and retrieve database info from multiple tables? Hi, I have a website where users can log on and edit their profile pic, name, biography etc. I was wondering about the correct way to:- Add data to the database through forms (Register.php) Display the data on a page Using mysql escape sting, however, the way I am currently using will display a '\' before any ' symbol. So it's >> it\'s ... Here is a snippet of the code I am using... Code: [Select] //insert data $about1 = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['about']); //get $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `staff` WHERE username='$username'"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($query); $about = $row['about']; echo $about; Hi all, I have a number of tables within a mysql database and I'm stuck on how to pull information from one based on the results being displayed by another. The site shows items for sale where by all the product information is held in tablea, when an individual item is being displayed I need to be able to pull a manufacturer profile from tableb based on the manufacturer name stored in tablea column profile. The manufacturer name is already being called into the page by existing code as the site has always shown the manufacturer name, I just can't work out out to pull the new profile information in as well from the new table. Any help appreciated Iain Hi there, I am using this code to send the users email address to the database. That works fine, but i keep getting blank info added to the database. Does anyone know how i can stop this? <?php $con = mysql_connect("*","*","*"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("ogs_mailinglist1", $con); $sql="INSERT INTO mailinglist (email) VALUES ('$_POST[rec_email]')"; if (!mysql_query($sql,$con)) { die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_close($con); ?> Thanks, Hi I have tried and tried and tried again to get this to work
in simple terms I have very little knowledge with PHP and even less with mysql
I have a paid subscription and domain in order to learn more and I feel I have made ok progress so far
then I realised how unsafe my current work is;
here is my experience this far
I created a site for a group of voluntary online game hosts where they can posts points from their tournaments in a forum
and some info pages to go with this,
however what I did was create a base template and style sheet and then an admin dashboard linked to individual forms to allow the group admin to edit the info pages they go to my form and enter the desired info and submit this then sends through and action file which posts the text and <BR> to a .txt file,
then the connecting page reads the .txt file using the PHP code of " <? php include ( 'index.txt'); ?>
yes you are seeing this correctly I have allowed a direct edit of text in a .txt file rather silly of me but I didn't realise how unsafe this was until now I guess its a good job I trust that the admin has no knowledge or skills in coding
ok since all this I have created a DB in MySQL on my server,
My server uses PHPMyAdmin I have create a DB named " mnvbcou1_content1 " and a table named " home " with rows " ID " and " home "
what I am trying to do:
I want my page to display the content of the table row home and a form once submitted to send to the table row home
or if needed I can re make this DB if the names are not suitable
I have tried to create the needed coding to make this work but for some reason this just will not work I have already added 2 rows to my table to try and make the page to display the content but it just is not working I got an error every time
so I hope that someone out there is rather patient and is willing to help me learn how to do this correctly and safely,
also this is a closed group website the address to this site is only known by a handful of none programmers I am mainly trying to make this work for my own personal knowledge and server safety please help me
I am working on a project where I want a select form to display information from a MySQL table. The select values will be different sports (basketball, baseball, hockey, football) and the display will be various players from those sports. I have set up so far two tables in MySQL. One is called 'sports' and contains two columns. Once called 'category_id' and that is the primary key and auto increments. The other column is 'sports' and contains the various sports I mentioned. For my select menu I created the following code. <?php #connect to MySQL $conn = @mysql_connect( "localhost","uname","pw") or die( "You did not successfully connect to the DB!" ); #select the specified database $rs = @mysql_SELECT_DB ("test", $conn ) or die ( "Error connecting to the database test!"); ?> <html> <head>Display MySQL</head> <body> <form name="form2" id="form2"action="" > <select name="categoryID"> <?php $sql = "SELECT category_id, sport FROM sports ". "ORDER BY sport"; $rs = mysql_query($sql); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($rs)) { echo "<option value=\"".$row['category_id']."\">".$row['sport']."</option>\n "; } ?> </select> </form> </body> </html> this works great. I also created another table called 'players' which contains the fields 'player_id' which is the primary key and auto increments, category_id' which is the foreign key for the sports table, sport, first_name, last_name. The code I am using the query and display the desired result is as follows <html> <head> <title>Get MySQL Data</title> </head> <body> <?php #connect to MySQL $conn = @mysql_connect( "localhost","uname","pw") or die( "Err:Db" ); #select the specified database $rs = @mysql_SELECT_DB ("test", $conn ) or die ( "Err:Db"); #create the query $sql ="SELECT * FROM sports INNER JOIN players ON sports.category_id = players.category_id WHERE players.sport = 'Basketball'"; #execute the query $rs = mysql_query($sql,$conn); #write the data while( $row = mysql_fetch_array( $rs) ) { echo ("<table border='1'><tr><td>"); echo ("Caetegory ID: " . $row["category_id"] ); echo ("</td>"); echo ("<td>"); echo ( "Sport: " .$row["sport"]); echo ("</td>"); echo ("<td>"); echo ( "first_name: " .$row["first_name"]); echo ("</td>"); echo ("<td>"); echo ( "last_name: " .$row["last_name"]); echo ("</td>"); echo ("</tr></table>"); } ?> </body> </html> this also works fine. All I need to do is tie the two together so that when a particular sport is selected, the query will display below in a table. I know I need to change my WHERE clause to a variable. This is what I need help with. thanks This topic has been moved to Ajax Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=352302.0 |
