PHP - How To Limit And Randomize The Data Displayed
Hello,
I have a stock page on my site and want to use the code to display a small stock area on my home page. I am not sure on how I would limit the number of records or randomize the records shown. The code is Code: [Select] <?php $coachselect=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM coaches WHERE DISPLAY = '1' ORDER BY STOCK")or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($coachselect)){ ?> <ul class="stock-home"> <li><h4><a href="details-id-<?php echo $row['ID']; ?>.html" target="_blank"></a></h4></li> <li><img src="./<?php echo $row['IMAGES'] . "/" . $row['DEFAULT_IMAGE'] ; ?>" width="187" height="138" alt="lehel virage for sale" class="fl"/></li> <li><?php echo $row['NAME']; ?></h3></li><li><?php echo $row['DESC_SHORT']; ?></li> <li><a href="details.php?id=<?php echo $row['ID']; ?>" target="_blank">more info...</a></li> <li><?php echo $row['DESC_2']; ?></li> </ul><!--close stock home--> <?php } ?> I am guessing that something needs to be added here Code: [Select] $coachselect=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM coaches WHERE DISPLAY = '1' ORDER BY STOCK")or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($coachselect)){ ?> But am not sure how to do it? Does anyone have any advice or could point me to a tutorial? Here is the rest of the code, from the top of the page. Code: [Select] $CON=mysql_connect($DB_SERVER, $DB_USER, $DB_PASS) or die(mysql_error()); $DB_SELECT=mysql_select_db($DATABASE) or die(mysql_error()); if (isset($_POST)) { foreach ($_POST as &$value) { $value = trim(htmlspecialchars($value, ENT_QUOTES)); } } if (isset($_GET)) { foreach ($_GET as &$value) { $value = trim(htmlspecialchars($value, ENT_QUOTES)); } } $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] = filter_var($_SERVER['PHP_SELF'], FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); ?> Many Thanks Dan Similar TutorialsI have the code below: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------ <div id="content"> <table width="998" border="0" cellspacing="4" id="stuff"> <?php do { ?> <tr> <td><?php echo $row_Recordset1['name']; ?></td> </tr> <?php } while ($row_Recordset1 = mysql_fetch_assoc($Recordset1)); ?> </table> <div id="spryTable" spry:region="ds1"> <table align="center"> <tr> <th spry:sort="name"> </th> </tr> <tr spry:repeat="ds1" spry:setrow="ds1" spry:hover="hover" spry:select="selected"> <td height="40" align="center">{name}</td> // green line <td height="40" align="center">{name}</td> //orange line </tr> </table> </div> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------- At the moment the green line of code will display the entire record of names, and the orange line displays the entire record again in another column of the table. The problem is, I want half the names to be printed in one column and the other half of names to be displayed in the other column. Can someone show me how to set the php code to do this? I've been trying various things for a while now without success. Thank you. Hello to all, I have problem figuring out how to properly display data fetched from MySQL database in a HTML table. In the below example I am using two while loops, where the second one is nested inside first one, that check two different expressions fetching data from tables found in a MySQL database. The second expression compares the two tables IDs and after their match it displays the email of the account holder in each column in the HTML table. The main problem is that the 'email' row is displayed properly while its while expression is not nested and alone(meaning the other data is omitted or commented out), but either nested or neighbored to the first while loop, it is displayed horizontally and the other data ('validity', 'valid_from', 'valid_to') is not displayed.'
Can someone help me on this, I guess the problem lies in the while loop? <thead> <tr> <th data-column-id="id" data-type="numeric">ID</th> <th data-column-id="email">Subscriber's Email</th> <th data-column-id="validity">Validity</th> <th data-column-id="valid_from">Valid From</th> <th data-column-id="valid_to">Valid To</th> </tr> </thead> Here is part of the PHP code:
<?php while($row = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { echo ' <tr> <td>'.$row["id"].'</td> '; while ($row1 = $stmt1->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { echo ' <td>'.$row1["email"].'</td> '; } if($row["validity"] == 1) { echo '<td>'.$row["validity"].' month</td>'; }else{ echo '<td>'.$row["validity"].' months</td>'; } echo ' <td>'.$row["valid_from"].'</td> <td>'.$row["valid_to"].'</td> </tr>'; } ?>
Thank you. I'm teaching myself how to use php and mysql... I created a form to insert data into a mysql database, all went well and when I returned to the form it was blank. I then asked a friend to test it out aswell and when he loaded the form page, the data that entered before him was displayed? (it was still filled out with my info). Even after he refreshed it was still there... Hows this possible? How would I clear the form after its been submitted if it doesnt do it automatically? Thanks Drew I am trying to write some code to display the visits to my site each week in batches of 13 weeks (1 quarter).
I am getting the Week No and the number of hits, but the actual date, which is in a separate table is not being displayed.
I have tried LEFT JOIN and INNER Join and even RIGHT JOIN (this only displays the Date).
I can't see where I am going wrong!
Here is the code:
<? include('connect_visits.php'); doDB7(); $limitStart = $_POST['QUARTER'] - 13; $Visit_data="SELECT Visits.ID, Visits.WVisits, Visits.WCom, WeekNo.WNo, WeekNo.WCom FROM Visits LEFT JOIN WeekNo ON Visits.ID = WeekNo.WCom ORDER BY Visits.ID LIMIT {$limitStart}, 13"; $Visit_data_res = mysqli_query($mysqli, $Visit_data) or die(mysqli_error($mysqli)); $display_block = " <table width=\"20%\" cellpadding=\"3\" cellspacing=\"1\" border=\"1\" BGCOLOR=\"white\" > <tr> <th>Week No</th> <th>Week Commencing</th> <th>Visits</th> </tr>"; while ($C_info = mysqli_fetch_array($Visit_data_res)) { $Cid = $C_info['ID']; $Visits = ($C_info['WVisits']); $WeekNo = ($C_info['WCom']); //add to display $display_block .= " <tr> <td width=\"1%\" valign=\"top\">".$Cid."<br/></td> <td width=\"8%\" valign=\"top\">".$WeekNo."<br/></td> <td width=\"5%\" valign=\"top\">".$Visits."<br/></td> </td></tr>"; } mysqli_free_result($Visit_data_res); ?>Where am I going wrong? Edited by rocky48, 29 December 2014 - 12:53 PM. This topic has been moved to MySQL Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=359434.0 I have these two tables...
schedule (gameid, homeid, awayid, weekno, seasonno)
teams (teamid, location, nickname)
This mysql query below gets me schedule info for ALL 32 teams in an array...
$sql = "SELECT h.nickname AS home, a.nickname AS away, h.teamid AS homeid, a.teamid AS awayid, s.weekno FROM schedule s INNER JOIN teams h ON s.homeid = h.teamid LEFT JOIN teams a ON s.awayid = a.teamid WHERE s.seasonno =2014"; $schedule= mysqli_query($connection, $sql); if (!$schedule) { die("Database query failed: " . mysqli_error($connection)); } else { // Placeholder for data $data = array(); while($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($schedule)) { if ($row['away'] == "") {$row['away']="BYE";} $data[$row['homeid']][$row['weekno']] = $row['away']; $data[$row['awayid']][$row['weekno']] = '@ '.$row['home']; } }However, I only want to get info for one specific team, which is stored in the $teamid variable. This should be very easy, right? I have tried multiple things, including this one below (where I added an AND statement of "AND (h.teamid=$teamid OR a.teamid=$teamid)"), but this one still outputs too much... $sql = "SELECT h.nickname AS home, a.nickname AS away, h.teamid AS homeid, a.teamid AS awayid, s.weekno FROM schedule s INNER JOIN teams h ON s.homeid = h.teamid LEFT JOIN teams a ON s.awayid = a.teamid WHERE s.seasonno =2014 AND (h.teamid=$teamid OR a.teamid=$teamid)"; $schedule= mysqli_query($connection, $sql); if (!$schedule) { die("Database query failed: " . mysqli_error($connection)); } else { // Placeholder for data $data = array(); while($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($schedule)) { if ($row['away'] == "") {$row['away']="BYE";} $data[$row['homeid']][$row['weekno']] = $row['away']; $data[$row['awayid']][$row['weekno']] = '@ '.$row['home']; } }Below is the array that the above outputs. In a nutshell, all I want is that 1st array ([1]) which has, in this example, the Eagles full schedule. It's not giving me too much else and I guess I could live with it and just ignore the other stuff, but I'd rather be as efficient as possible and only get what I need... Array ( [1] => Array ( [1] => Jaguars [2] => @ Colts [3] => Redskins [4] => @ 49ers [5] => Rams [6] => Giants [7] => BYE [8] => @ Cardinals [9] => @ Texans [10] => Panthers [11] => @ Packers [12] => Titans [13] => @ Cowboys [14] => Seahawks [15] => Cowboys [16] => @ Redskins [17] => @ Giants ) [27] => Array ( [1] => @ Eagles ) [28] => Array ( [2] => Eagles ) [4] => Array ( [3] => @ Eagles [16] => Eagles ) [14] => Array ( [4] => Eagles ) [15] => Array ( [5] => @ Eagles ) [3] => Array ( [6] => @ Eagles [17] => Eagles ) [] => Array ( [7] => @ Eagles ) [16] => Array ( [8] => Eagles ) [25] => Array ( [9] => Eagles ) [11] => Array ( [10] => @ Eagles ) [7] => Array ( [11] => Eagles ) [26] => Array ( [12] => @ Eagles ) [2] => Array ( [13] => Eagles [15] => @ Eagles ) [13] => Array ( [14] => @ Eagles ) ) Unless buffer overflows or breaking out of code to perform a new command are problems that have been solved.... I am trying to figure out the proper PHP method for setting a boundary on a variable within a script. I have this variable $name which is fed a value from $_POST['name'] from a form field. Now this form field is limited in the HTML to accept only 20 characters, but someone could easily edit the form or outgoing post data. So I want to know how to limit the variable size in the script. In other languages it could be something like this: var name(20). So how do I do that in PHP? Hi, I'm not necessarily looking for code examples for my problem, (they are welcome but its not my explicit goal). I'm looking more for advice on how to go about tackling the problem i have. what i already have Currently i have a search getting results from a MySQL database. The results are ordered by one field that signifies their importance. Many of these results have the same value in this one column, and i have a switch statement to distinguish different content/styles for the different values. (there are just over 10 different bands) So the most important results are shown first and with a different style to the ones below it. (some bands have the same styling) what i need I would like to be able to randomize the results but only randomize the results within their specified bands. e.g. lets say theres 100 results in band A and 100 in band B. I still want everything in band A to be listed above band B, but i would like to randomly change the order of the results in band A and band B, (in this case once a week). I need to save the order of this randomization (client/server side?) for a week, then run the script again to set a new order. Now I would still class myself as an amateur php'er so at this stage i dont even know how i would go about separating the bands and randomizing their results independantly, let alone causing this functionality to run only once a week. So can anyone suggest a way i might go about this? I'm pretty stuck right now. Cheers Hi All, I'm new to PHP and felt that if anyone can help me out it would be someone of the PHPfreaks community. I've used the "easyphpcalendar" in my site, www.imagenenation.ca and my client has requested that the "list mode" (white section of the homepage) only have one event listed at a time. This i can do. The other part of their request is to have that one event be pulled from a list of events posted during that calendar month. So I'm looking for a PHP string of code that will echo a random event to be posted to the single "list mode" area, from a group of postings for a day that may have up to six postings. The code currently used for this "list mode" is; <?php $LIST=1; $DF = "D - M d"; $noOld = 1; $template="monthly_image.php"; $mo=9; $listEvents=2; <--this i can set to 1 to only show one event require ("calendar/calendar.php"); ?> Does this request make sense to you? All help will be appreciated greatly, Realredd I am trying to run a php code on my site but it kept on saying page cannot be found. Any idea why its saying that??? Hi, I am generating certificates in php i can display the name in arabic but it will not print on the certicate. I am new to coding and I am learning the basic functions so all feedback is welcome in aiding my learning endeavor. I am using a form and all of the inputs are submitting to the database other than the text area which comes up blank. I do not get an error when submitting the form I just get a blank value for the text area 'Comments'.

Hey All, As of this morning our gallery has started to show the incorrect dates. Please go to: http://www.nightlifeguestlist.com/c...n/74/Carbon.htm you will see the first date is Fri, 29 October 10 this should be Sat, 30 October 10. In the database the date is in putted as 2010-10-30. The dates from Fri, 29 October 10 to Fri, 2 April 10 are all incorrect. These happen to be all BST times. While the dates for GMT are OK. The clocks here in the UK are now GMT and not BST. Has this anything to do with it? The code used is as follows: <? $location = false; if(isset($_GET['l'])){ $location = $_GET['l']; } $venue = false; if(isset($_GET['v'])){ $venue = $_GET['v']; } $event = false; if(isset($_GET['e'])){ $event = $_GET['e']; } $page = 0; if(isset($_GET['p'])){ $page = $_GET['p']; $page--; } $query_events = ""; if(!$location){ $query_events = "SELECT ec_venues.location FROM ec_venues GROUP BY ec_venues.location"; } else if($location && !$venue && !$event){ $query_events = "SELECT ec_venues.venue_name, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(ec_events.event_date) AS event_date, ec_venues.venue_id, ec_events.event_id,ec_venues.location FROM ec_events INNER JOIN ec_venues ON ec_events.venue_id = ec_venues.venue_id WHERE ec_events.event_date IS NOT NULL AND ec_venues.location='".$location."' I use the same code for another site on another server and it works fine. I guess I need to alter the code somehow? The gallery works ok just the dates show are wrong. Any ideas on how to fix this? The server settings/time seems are OK. The line which prints the date is:<? echo ($row_events['event_date']==""?$row_events['event_name']:date ("D, j F y", $row_events['event_date'])) ; ?> When I echo the date echo date('c'); I receive 2010-10-29T23:00:00+00:00 for Fri, 29 October 10. Thanks so I am a beginner and have this very beginner-level PHP doubt. I have some basic code which is supposed to fetch the contents of a table and then display them in a table. What it's actually showing is the PHP code itself, instead of the table contents, in the browser. I'm using WAMP When I searched the net reasons given were 1. using short tags, and 2. some configuration problem. I haven't used short tags, and my wamp installation was done a long time back. Moreover this problem is not occuring all the time, even when I run the same code. Many thanks if anyone can suggest anything helpful. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place (new here). At the moment i can retrieve information from a DB and display it nicely in a vertical line of boxes (some boxes with extra information as needed). I basically need a version of this with exactly the same information, but instead of a top-down list of divs (boxes), I need them to be displayed going around a circle (starting top centre, going clockwise). Does anyone know if this is possible? And how easy would it be? Any scripts? It's already taken me ages to get the list pulling the appropriate info and displaying in a straight line. Thanks for any help/direction. Added: The number of divs displayed will be variable depending on what's in the DB. So I can't count on their being a certain number. Therefore the 'circle' would need to re-size in some way?! when I test this script on browser. This is all that I see. invalid username or password Code: [Select] <?php //start session session_start(); include 'functions.php'; if (loggedin()) { header("Location: userarea.php"); exit(); } if ($_POST['login']) { //get data $username = $_POST['username']; $password = $_POST['password']; $rememberme = $_POST['rememberme']; } if (username&&$password) { $login = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$username'"); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($login)) { $db_password = $row['password']; if (md5($password)==$db_password) $loginok =TRUE; else $loginok = FALSE; if ($loginok ==TRUE); { if($rememberme=="on") setcookie("username",$username, time()+7200); else if ($rememberme=="") $_SESSION['username']=$username; header("Location: userarea.php"); exit(); } } } else { die("invalid username or password"); } ?> <form action="login.php" method="POST"> username:<br /> <input type="text" name="username" /><br /> password:<br /> <input type="password" name="password" /><br /> <input type="checkbox" name="rememberme">remember me<br /> <input type="submit" name="login" value="Log in" /> </form> |
