PHP - Php Search To Display Page?

Hello everyone,

Very new to coding - enjoying it but struggling! I think I'm trying to do something pretty common but I seem to have come up against a complete wall now and after hours/days searching the internet and reading books I'm completely stuck! I'm  trying to write some code to search a MySQL database of products, then display the results. For some search results there will be lots of products so I want to display 10 products on the first page then allow visitors to go to the next page to see another 10, and so on - a type of pagination, as they should then be able to click back to see the last page etc.
I've got to the point of being able to display the first 10 search results, but I can't figure out at all how to create some kind of page scrolling/pagination system.
Please, does anybody have any ideas??

Say a user puts in a support request, and for every request it generates a unqiue string, and enters it into the database.

Ok, now say there is a text field, when the user enters their unique string and it finds a match, it displays the data along with it.

How can I accomplish this? Im kind of new to mysql, but I know basic SQL.

Would be great if somebody could point me in the right direction!

I am building online dictionary with php. The following code allows the user to search a word and display the definition results from the database. The problem is the user has to input the identical words only. If the words are not exactly similar to the database words it returns error message. But in this case I need it to give a suggestion along with the error message based on the few beginning words of the submitted word. eg. if the user type a word "suggestion", and the word "suggestion" is not available in the database .... instead of just the error message to also search and include other stored data closer to the submitted word ... like "TRY the word SUGGEST".

can any one help me on this please.

  In the code below, I am trying to produce a google-like page where the user can type keywords
and pages of search results are displayed.
  The main difficulty I am encountering is that when the browser changes pages, it forgets everything about current data.    Perhaps I should include the display of pages inside the HTML form ? How can I fix this code ?

I have code for a perv. and next links at the bottom of my search page. Which shows the next ten results however when the next link is clicked the page says please fill in all fields (as if the search box was left empty and the search button was clicked... please help me figure this out...

hello, was wondering if there is a way to have a search box that searches all data on the current page.  similar to what a ctrl+F would do in internet exoplorer

How can I write a 404 file to redirected any 'not found' page with structure of example.com/something/more/final.html to example.com/search?q=something+more+final

i have a html page which is derived from an excel spreedsheet.

is it possable to use php to search the page and pull a row of data from it and store them as $vars ? sort of treat it as a database.

if so can you point me in the right direction. i tryed google with no luck.

Hi all.

I am in need of some help with a simple page search function.

In short what i need is a way the user can search for a specific page name from the home index page.

My site (local for now) will be constructed as follows:

localhost/mysite/index.html

0001.html

0002.html

...

0132.html

etc...

The subpages will be added/modified externaly and may run into the hundreds of pages.

For this reason mySQL will be hard to implement and somewhat overkill especialy for this simple search function.

So, is there a way i can type the page to look for "0132" into the field and be forwarded onto the searched page "0132.html"

I realise i could just type mysite/0132.html but the page may or may not exist and searching would be tiny bit more elegant.

Simple for you guys i expect but im at a loss as all search functions use mySQL in addition.

I have this code that searches multiple tables. running this query in the phpmyadmin page works fine and gives correct results.
I echo-ed the $kw and noticed that it is lost (empty) when I click on Next (when moving to the second page or so..)
How do I save the $kw for all search results?

Sorry if this should be in the HTML forum but as it is relating to something I am trying to do with php I thought this was the right place!

I am creating a search page and one of the columns has only two potential values, 'H' for Home Games and 'A' for Away Games. Using radio buttons I can get the search page to filter correctly but there will also be times, once there are a few more search options on there, when a search would want to show All Games.
The current form I have is

If either the 'Home' or 'Away' buttons are checked everything works fine. If I check the 'All' button nothing is returned as it is looking for blank cells. I have also tried using 'value="*"' but that did not work.

Is there anything that I can put as the value of a radio button that would select all records or would it have to be something amended in the query on the results page?

In this site on the right widget the search option opens a new page and directs you off the page. I have created a page not visible on the home page called MLS and I would like the search on the right side to have its information populate in a page I created in my wordpress site, does any one have any suggestions or any ideas for this thank you for any help.

Hello. I am having a hard time building my own search results page for my mysql database. Basically I am trying to search for game categories from the fldCategory field in the table, and display 15 results at a time in an HTML table with the Image of the games (fldIconMedium), and the titles of the games (fldTitle) placed in to the table. Also, at the bottom of the table would have a number bar that you can click on numbers to go to the next set of search results in the same page. The number bar would have Previous and Next button.

I am expecting the games search results page to look like this: http://netroxy.com/51274581336/search.htm

So basically its:

- viewing how many games found for game category, ex: Skills. Or Action, Mind, etc..

- the URL containing 'gameslist.php?cat=' with the given ID category at the end should search for that given category and display at least 15 games per results, along the number bar bellow, which counts how many are found from that category, which automatically increases or decreases the number bar bellow depending how many games from that specific category was found. I also forgot to mention that I did not add the Previous and Next button, which i dont know how   

- As for the 15 results per page, its basically 15 images (fldIconMedium) of different games of the same category, with their Titles (fldTitle) underneath them and both image and title should have the LINK to that specific game by retrieving the links from the 'fldLink' column where all the links of the games are found.
