PHP - How To Pass Session From Parent Domain To Wildcard Subdomains ?
I tried many ways but unable to pass sessions to virtual subdomains on my site.. I edited ihi.ini file and included Code: [Select] session.cookie_domain = .mydomain.com I like to add that session is active on my main domain for www.mydomain.com only.. So how do I pass sessions for WWW to other subdomains ? Thanks n Advance Similar TutorialsMy service allows users to generate subdomains based off their username(testguy.mydomain.com). I've created a wildcard subdomain for this, so the dynamic subdomains work wonderfully.
I've added a parked domain where my domain is supposed to mirror the given subdomain. However, when I go to the domain.com, it redirects to the subdomain, changing the URL in the address bar. Any ideas?
Or if there a better way to mirror a subdomain while showing the original domain in the address bar?
Edited by fitguydan, 12 June 2014 - 11:57 PM. hello, im looking for a way of maintaining a single session across sub-domains... for example. domain.com shop.domain.com each starts its own session, i need a way of preserving that session across both. any thoughts? I work with a large codebase and I have this situation come up fairly often:
the legacy class has large objects such as:
$design->motor->dimensions->a; $design->motor->dimensions->bd; $design->specifications->weight; $design->data->height; //etcWhen I create a new class, that class sometimes operates on the specific data, so say: class MyClass { public function compute($weight, $height, $a) { //stuff } } //and I call this for example as such: (new MyClass())->compute($design->specifications->weight, $design->data->height, $design->motor->dimensions->a);CONS: Potential issue: if design specs change and I need to change things parameters in "compute" function, I need to "re-key" the variables I pass to the function, and adjust things accordinly in MyClass as wel. PROS: only the exact data is being passed, and this data can come from anywhere it is viable, so in effect the function is fairly well separated, I think. Alternative option for me is to pass the entire design object, i.e class MyClass { public function compute(&$design) //can also be done via DI through a setter or constructor. { print $design->specifications->weight; print ($design->data->height + $design->motor->dimensions->a); //stuff } } (new MyClass())->compute($design);PROS: In this case when things change internally in which variables are needed and how things are computed, I only need to change the code in compute function of the class itself. CONS: MyClass now needs to be aware of how $design object is constructed. When it comes to this parameter passing, and Dependency Injection like this in general, does Computer Science advocate a preference on this issue? Do I pass the entire object, or do I pass only the bits and pieces I need? Alright, So i want to pass a session from www.mysite.com to mobile.mysite.com And i'm doing so by calling this on the top of every page on each site: <?php session_set_cookie_params(360000, "/",".mysite.com"); session_start(); print_r($_SESSION); ?> yet, the session data that is set on one subdomain is NOT printed on the other subdomain. I've even tried destroying the sessions several times to start over. But it won't work. What could be up? Thanks Good Day, I'm using the following example script from http://php.net/manual/en/function.session-set-save-handler.php which I have placed in session-handler.php and is included at the top of my index.php file. I have multiple domain names for the same website, so naturally when a person logs into the site, I would like the session to be active across all the domains instead of them having to login again if say they go from mysite.com to mysite2.com. session-handler.php <?php function open($save_path, $session_name) { global $sess_save_path; $sess_save_path = $save_path; return(true); } function close() { return(true); } function read($id) { global $sess_save_path; $sess_file = "$sess_save_path/sess_$id"; return (string) @file_get_contents($sess_file); } function write($id, $sess_data) { global $sess_save_path; $sess_file = "$sess_save_path/sess_$id"; if ($fp = @fopen($sess_file, "w")) { $return = fwrite($fp, $sess_data); fclose($fp); return $return; } else { return(false); } } function destroy($id) { global $sess_save_path; $sess_file = "$sess_save_path/sess_$id"; return(@unlink($sess_file)); } function gc($maxlifetime) { global $sess_save_path; foreach (glob("$sess_save_path/sess_*") as $filename) { if (filemtime($filename) + $maxlifetime < time()) { @unlink($filename); } } return true; } session_set_save_handler("open", "close", "read", "write", "destroy", "gc"); session_start(); ?> The script above doesn't appear to be throwing any errors, and I can login like normal but it doesn't seem to be saving the sessions at all. So I still have to login to each separate domain. Any ideas? Thanks, Ace I expected the following script to display a single cookie on the main page (cookie_2, and both the main page cookie and the subdomain cookie (cookie_3) within the iframe.
In actuality, the main page was as expected, but the iframe only displays cookie_3.
Can anyone explain what I am witnessing, and why the subdomain wouldn't be able to access the cookie set in the parent?
<?php setcookie("cookie_".count(explode('.', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'])), 'Hello from '.$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']); echo('<pre>'.print_r($_COOKIE,1).'</pre>'); ?> <iframe src="http://test.mysite.com/testing/cookietest.php"></iframe> hi everyone. i'm wondering what the best way is to create a session variable and pass it to an iframe. i need to do something along these lines, but it doesn't seem to pass the ID. Any hints on how i should accomplish this? Code: [Select] session_start(); $_SESSION['ID']=$_GET['ID']; // id from previous page $ID=session_id(); <iframe src="iframepage.php?ID=<?php echo $ID; ?>" style="width:680px; height:200px;" noresize="noresize" frameborder="0" border="0" scrolling="Yes" allowtransparency="true" /> </iframe> Hello. Basically I've created a login script. Works great. It sends users to different locations depending on what type of user they are. Now I have also created a Members account. Upon logging in this user should go to the members area. That all works fine! In the login script i stored a few session variable like username, access_level and so on. Now in the members area I am trying to make the page echo the name of the current user. I have been stairing at my code too long and can no longer see why nothing is echo'ing. Any ideas. I thought that the session_start() would continue the session in the next page and throughout the site until the person logs off and runs the session_destroy()! Is this not correct. First ill post the login script <?php include('database.php'); session_start(); if(isset($_POST['submit3'])) { $email = stripslashes($_POST['email3']); $password = stripslashes($_POST['password3']); $email = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['email3']); $password = md5($password); $CheckUser = "SELECT * FROM Members WHERE email='".$email."' AND password='".$password."'"; $userDetails2 = mysql_query($CheckUser); $userInfo = mysql_fetch_array($userDetails2); $count = mysql_num_rows($userDetails2); if($count != 0) { $_SESSION['username'] = $userInfo['username']; $_SESSION['usertype'] = $userInfo['usertype']; $_SESSION['access_level']= $userInfo['access_level']; if($userInfo['usertype']== 'Member') { header('Location: members/index.php'); } else if($userInfo['usertype'] == 'Owner') { header('Location: owner/index.php'); } else if($userInfo['usertype'] == 'Corporation') { header('Location: corporation/index.php'); } else if($userInfo['usertype'] == 'Administrator') { header('Location: owner/admin/index.php'); } else if($userInfo['usertype'] == 'Staff') { header('Location: owner/staff/index.php'); } } else { $message = "incorrect login details"; } } ?> now ill post the members page <?php include('../database.php'); session_start(); ?> <head> <link href="stylz.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="reset.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> WELCOME TO THE MEMBERS AREA <?php $_SESSION['username']; ?> <?php include('../title.php');?> <?php include('../nav.php');?> <div id="test"></div> <?php include('../footer.php');?> </div> </body> </html> Hello. I am just beginning to teach myself the basics of php. I am learning from books and video tutorials etc. I have come across a problem that I just can't work out, I'm sure it is very simple. Two files, movie1.php and moviesite.php, movie1.php looks like this: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); $_SESSION['username'] = "Joe12345"; $_SESSION['authuser'] = 1; ?> <html> <head> <title>Find My Movie!</title> </head> <body> <?php $myfavmovie = urlencode("The Life of Brian"); echo "<a href='moviesite.php?favmovie=$myfavmovie'>"; echo "click here to see information about my favourite movie!"; echo "</a>" ?> </body> </html> OK? You see the '$_SESSION['username'] = "Joe12345";', this is my specific problem. This should be echoed into the next page, moviesite.php which you can see below: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); //check to see if the user has logged in with a valid password if ($_SESSION['authuser'] != 0) { echo "sorry, but you don't have permission to view this page"; exit(); } ?> <html> <head> <title>My Movie Site - <?php echo $_REQUEST['favmovie']; ?></title> </head> <body> <?php echo "Welcome to our site, "; echo $_SESSION['username']; echo "! <br>"; echo "My favourite movie is "; echo $_REQUEST['favmovie']; echo "<br>"; $movierate = 5; echo "My movie rating for this movie is "; echo $movierate; ?> </body> </html> OK? 'echo $_SESSION['username'];' does not echo the username. Everything else seems to be ok. This is an example I have been working on from the book 'Beginning PHP, MySQL and Apache Web Development'. I hope someone can help. The username 'Joe12345' is not carried to the next page. It is just blank. Many Thanks for all and any assistance people can give me. I am under developing PHP add to cart without DB, so that i am using SESSION, actually get data from fetch_data.php data to my_cart.php using the POST method, successfully retun the values, After receiving the post data how can i convert to display like a table. workout: fetch_data.php return values. https://snag.gy/IASCMZ.jpg & values received https://snag.gy/ojWxHe.jpg Here is my my_cart.php : // FYI -> Here i am using only two fields : voice_sku & voice_name <table width="100%" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0"> <thead> <tr> <th>Voice Sku</th> <th>Voice Name</th> <th>Remove</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <?php session_start(); $voice_sku = ''; $voice_name = ''; if(isset($_POST['voice_sku'])&& isset($_POST['voice_name'])) { // print_r($_POST); // die(); $voice_sku = $_POST['voice_sku']; $voice_name = $_POST['voice_name']; $_SESSION['voice_sku'] = $voice_sku; $_SESSION['voice_name'] = $voice_name; } var_dump($_SESSION); ?> <tr> <td colspan="5"> <span style="float:right;text-align: right;"> <!-- --> </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5"> <a href="index.php" class="button">Add More Items</a> <button type="submit">Update</button> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
Unfortunately I have no code for this yet cuz I don;t even know if its possible... I am programming an application that is used by a couple of stores, which could end up being a lot of stores. Anyways, the basis is that the stores would, though a separate application (and therefore separate database) create a username and password, I now want to use this username and password to do the following 1. Allow them to login to my application using the same username and password 2. I want the store the username in a session to pull tables based on the username from my database For instance, a user has the login store123, after loggin in it now pulls the information from the tables store123_items, store123_prices, store123_settings, etc. Now my database will have quite a lot of store###_tables I am, sadly, a noobie to PHP and I do recall seeing an article (somewhere on the net, and I stupidly forgot to bookmark it, knowing I would need it eventually) on how to access multiple databases easily. Now because they are both under my account I can use the same username and password for both, its accessing the MySQL username/password database and storing the info I know I am lacking on how to do it. Any ideas? Is there a way to dynamically create subdomains like so: http://sub.example.com ? I can do it in cPanel, but I'm not sure how I would go about doing it in PHP. I know how to create http://example.com/sub, but that isn't what I want. I don't think it would work the same as http://sub.example.com.. - Vince I know PHP setcookie can set for all subdomains - by setting parameter 5 to something like ".domain.com". However, I have quite a lot of code that just leaves param 5 blank (so sets for the current subdomain of that server). Hopefully there'd be an easy way how to do this (a server setting?). I know you can use ini_set('session.cookie_domain','http://domain.com'); but that only seems to set the session cookie value, not ones set in PHP. I only really want it to ensure if someone accesses the site through both www.domain.com and domain.com that they use the same cookies. I have 2 subdomains - one for the main site app and one for administration app. Both of these need to work with the same directory - one to upload images and one to read them. So far I have it like this - the main domain is mounted to www_root. In www_root I created a folder for the admin application. The images folder is also directly in www_root. The problem is, I can't upload files through http. So how else can I access a directory that is above the root directory of the current app ? Or should I rather move the images dir to the admin directory ? I have two domains both running SSL. Let's call them old-domain and new-domain. old-domain is permanently redirecting traffic to new-domain. There are still a lot of links out there to old-domain with https://. If I were to remove SSL from old-domain but keep SSL on new-domain, I am betting that users will be getting some sort of certificate error. Right? Any way around that if I want to remove SSL from old-domain?
This topic has been moved to the corner of 3rd Avenue and mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=359430.0 Am currently trying to develop a SaaS, where each user gets their own subdomain with their application. Am wondering, though, with installation and subsequent updates:
What is the best way to initiate an installation? The project is currently in a git repository. Is it better to simply pull the master branch per installation; or is zipping up the master branch, copying it to the new subdomain, then running the installation a better (secure?) method?
What is the best way to initiate an update of code? If using the git repo, hat would deal with updated code, but not updated MySQL tables.
Should the user be allowed to choose to update (so much like W$, a popup shows up that says there's an update; user can choose to update or ignore); or should all updates be forced (such as at a certain time)?
I haven't seen much online with my searches, but I may be blind at this point. Any thoughts/comments appreciated!
<?php $title="juni/ngats.co.nr/hehe"; if ($title==([^/\.]+)/ngats.([^/\.]+).nr/([^/\.]+)) { echo it works; } whats wrong here? is it the wildcard? what do i need to do? it says it has errors with [... and then if i remove [] it will point out an error on ^ Hello, I am using this PHP script which needs to open several different files with similar names and extensions. This means: fopen(file_1.txt); However, I have about 300 of those files which I need to open and I don't want to rename them one by one. PERL had this awesome feature where you could create a variable with an asterix (wildcard) which would then find anything matching, using a wildcard. Something like: fopen(file_*.txt); ^Would open all files which had file_SOMETHING.txt in them. So is there anything like this in PHP? thanks in advance! I would like some advice from someone who already has the quick answer. User uses a form (drop down) to define a variable in their search of the db. PHP/MYSQL Choices are ALL, A, B, C. EXAMPLE1 They choose B. $variable = 'B' SELECT .... WHERE.... x table value = $variable (equals B) All works perfectly. EXAMPLE2 Now if they chose ALL (or don't chose), I have a problem. They choose nothing (which should be ALL records). I need it to go back to having no WHERE portion of the sql command, or a WHERE that pulls all records. They choose nothing. $ variable = 'ALL' SELECT ... WHERE... x table value = $variable (which now equals ALL) I thought % was a wildcard but doesn't work. This seems simple... but eludes me. What should I use for a variable value if there is NO selection or ALL selection???? The WHERE x table value = has to equal SOMETHING, right? Should I be using an IF THEN to zap the line if it equals "all"? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks! |
