PHP - Checking For Empty Values
i retrieving an adid from $_GET which is also a value retireved from a database.
Code: [Select] $this_adid=$_GET['adid']; if(empty($this_adid)) { $get_ad_id = mysql_query("SELECT userid FROM ads WHERE adid='$this_adid'", $con) or die("Error Getting AD ID: ".mysql_error()); while($get_ad_id_results = mysql_fetch_assoc($get_ad_id)) { $owner_id=$get_ad_id_results['userid']; } } the above query works if $this_adid returns 0 (http://www.website.com/?do=delete&adid=0&givenuserid=15773) i.e. adid is 0 in the table. But it does not work if $this_adid returns null or ntohin (http://www.website.com/?do=delete&adid=&givenuserid=15773) .i.e adid is ' ' (empty) field in the databse table.. can someone tell me why it does not check for null or empty values properly? Hello all! I have a page that dynamically generates checkboxes in a for() loop if $i<$product_qty, while it is generating the checkboxes the name for them is set like this $product_id_$i. In part of the next page that processes the checkboxes, I have a part that regenerates the names for those checkboxes using a for() loop again and the product_qty and then checks to see whether the checkbox is empty or not. Everything looks right in the for() loop, yet the if() that checks whether it isset or not just ignores the ones that are set. If I make a static if with the actual name of the checkbox the if() comes back as true. I've hit a brickwall, can anyone see any errors in my code? Code is below. // Get Old Order $get_order = @mysql_query("SELECT * FROM orders WHERE order_id = {$_POST['order_id']}"); $order = @mysql_fetch_assoc($get_order); // Get Old Order Items $products = $order['products']; //breaking products text down for display $prod = array(); $_products = explode('|', $products); foreach ($_products AS $p) $prod[] = explode(',', $p); if(empty($prod)) { header("Location: tracking.php"); die(); } /* // Create New Order @mysql_query("INSERT INTO orders SET customer_id = {$order['customer_id']}, order_status = {$order['order_status']}, order_date = '{$order['order_date']}', order_date_paid = '{$order['order_date_paid']}', order_shipping = '{$order['order_shipping']}', order_shipping_fee = '{$order['order_shipping_fee']}', order_insurance = '{$order['order_insurance']}', order_insurance_fee = '{$order['order_insurance_fee']}', order_insurance_total = '{$order['order_insurance_total']}', order_grand_total = '{$order['order_grand_total']}', order_date = '{$order['order_date']}', order_filled = '{$order['order_filled']}', order_ship_date = '{$order['ship_date']}'"); $get_new_order = @mysql_query("SELECT MAX(order_id) AS order_id FROM orders"); $new_order_id = @mysql_result($get_new_order, 'order_id', 0); */ // Add Items to New Order & Remove Items from Old Order $new_items = array(); foreach($prod as $p2) { for($i = 0; $i < $p2[0]; $i++) { if(!empty($_POST[$p2[3].'_'.$i])) { $new_items[$p2[3]]++; } } } if(isset($_POST['50_4'])) { echo "hi"; } TIA! For some reason this code doesn't work though, I don't get why. Hello ,
I am trying to update a record in my table if the particular value exists in the rows of a table. But my if-else not working properly. I am not getting where i am going wrong.
here is my table authorization, where i define authorization % with min and max.
authorisation.JPG 16.83KB

after adding line items, before display i will check whether any one of the line item discount lies within this min and max and also checks whether authorization is required (required='Yes'/'No') for that discount in my authorization table. If authorization required then i will update that order number as authorized.
here is my line items table

And yes, the variables are arrays. I don't know what else to do. Thanks in advance. Hi all, I'm pretty much a noob, and I've tried looking in the manual, but I don't know enough to even look in the right direction. Implode function perhaps? I'm pulling values from a MySQL database... for example: $food $drink $price If the array has a value in it , I want it to report the value and then add a separator (like a comma) between the values. If the array is empty, I don't want the orphaned comma. For example: $food = "" $drink = "beer" $price = "five dollars" Right I can print: beer five dollars even: , beer, five dollars But what I want is: beer, five dollars Thanks. ~Wayne Hi there, I am working on a PHP web form. There is simple textbox where users can enter countries. If the user enters any of the European countries for example Spain, Germany or Italy then the web page must echo ' You entered a European country. The code I am using is: switch ($txtCountry) { case 'Germany' || 'Spain' || 'Belgium' || 'Cyprus' || 'Estonia': echo "You entered a European Country"; break; case 'Japan': echo "You entered a Far Eastern Country"; break; default: echo "Unknown Country"; break; } Now the problem is even if I enter a different country like Japan, it goes to the first Case: i.e. 'You entered a European Country' Whats the best way to use Switch case to check multiple values. Is my Syntax correct or do I need to use single quote of double quote here. Please reply. Thank you! Hello,
I am trying to check whether the values in rows are equal or same?
I have two tables orders and line_items. I will store more than 1 line items in line_items table with the same order_id getting from orders table. In line items if i have 3 line items for same order_id, when each line items gets dispatched i will set the status to 'Dispatched' in line_items table. When all the 3 becomes 'Dispatched', i will update the order status as 'Completed' in orders table.
Now i am not getting how to check whether all the 3 line items status id 'Dispatched'.
I tried doing like this
$q1 = "select orders.order_id, orders.item_status as istatus, orders.status as ostatus, orders.authorise, line_items.order_id, line_items.status as bstatus, COUNT(line_items.id) as bid from orders inner join line_items on orders.order_id=line_items.order_id where line_items.order_id=".$id." AND line_items.id<>'Dispatched'"; $q2 = mysql_query($q1); while($q3 = mysql_fetch_array($q2)) { echo $q3['bstatus']; if($q3['bstatus']==''); { echo "HELLLOOOO"; } }But its not working. It goes into if loop even if a single value is 'Dispatched' Please help me. I have a series of string which can have a value or empty. I want to display them with echo. echo $string1 $string2 $string3; satisfies my need, as it shows available values, but with this method, I will get a PHP notice in my error_logs. What is your suggestion? Do I need to use "if (empty)" or "if(isset)"? The point is I have numerous strings and in each run only few of them have value. I read ages ago (and checked to see if it's true, it was and given how it works, it must still be) the end user can alter the value of any form field, using Firebug or similar, before submitting it. Two things I've figured out today: 1) a form input doesn't need a value - doesn't even need the attribute - if you're only checking whether the POST var isset and the actual value isn't important 2) Although it appears not to matter in the example I'm working on now, if the script doesn't check what the value is, and potentially sanitise it, the user could submit the form with any value, true, false, malicious, idk... So my question is: is this one of the ways malicious bad things can happen and do I *have to* specify a value, not because the script won't work without it, it does, but because in the real world it opens a security door if I don't check for malicious script by saying "if value not as expected, script has to die". Having formulated the question properly and thought about it I can't imagine simply making a form, without obvious connections to anything important, could be a problem in the way I'm asking about but I asked it now so Edited by appobs, 03 July 2014 - 12:08 PM. Man, I'm having a rough week with questions--if you're following at home. Basically matching a Coach's first and last name to another table, which if matched will yield information about that coach's team. Code: [Select] // or get user by username $current_user = wp_get_current_user(); $current_first = $current_user->user_firstname; $current_last = $current_user->user_lastname; $current_id = $current_user->ID; echo '<div class="contact_form">'; echo $current_first . Thank You Edited February 8, 2020 by karthicbabuHi, My company has 240+ locations and as such some users (general managers) cover multiple sites. When I run a query to pull user information, when the user has multiple sites to his or her name, its adds the second / third sites to the next columns, rather than wrapping it inside the same table cell. It also works the opposite way, if a piece of data is missing in the database and is blank, its pull the following columns in. Both cases mess up the table and formatting. I'm extremely new to any kind of programming and maybe this isn't the forum for this question but figured I'd give it a chance since I'm stuck. The HTML/PHP code is below: <table id="datatables-column-search-select-inputs" class="table table-striped" style="width:100%"> <thead> <tr> <th>ID</th> <th>FirstName</th> <th>LastName</th> <th>Username</th> <th>Phone #</th> <th>Location</th> <th>Title</th> <th>Role</th> <th>Actions</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <?php //QUERY TO SELECT ALL USERS FROM DATABASE $query = "SELECT * FROM users"; $select_users = mysqli_query($connection,$query);

// POPULATES DATA INTO THE TABLE echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>{$user_id}</td>"; echo "<td>{$user_firstname}</td>"; echo "<td>{$user_lastname}</td>"; echo "<td>{$username}</td>"; echo "<td>{$user_phone}</td>";

Hi all, Just curious why this works: Code: [Select] while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){ $import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values('$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]')"; } And this does not: $headdata_1 = "'$data[0]','$data[1]','$data[2]','$data[3]','$data[4]','$data[5]','$data[6]'"; while (($data = fgetcsv($handle, 1000, ",")) !== FALSE){ $import="INSERT into $prodtblname ($csvheaders1) values($headdata_1)"; }it puts $data[#'s] in the database fields instead of the actual data that '$data[0]','$data[1]'... relates to. I wrote a script to create the values in $headdata_1 based on the number of headers in $csvheaders1 but can't seem to get it working in the sql statement. Thanks Hi all, I'm a first time poster here and I would really appreciate some guidance with my latest php challenge! I've spent the entire day googling and reading and to be honest I think I'm really over my head and need the assistance of someone experienced to advise the best way to go! I have a multi dimensional array that looks like (see below); the array is created by CodeIgniter's database library (the rows returned from a select query) but I think this is a generic PHP question as opposed to having anything to do with CI because it related to working with arrays. I'm wondering how I might go about searching the array below for the key problem_id and a value equal to a variable which I would provide. Then, when it finds an array with a the matching key and variable, it outputs the other values in that part of the array too. For example, using the sample data below. How would you recommend that I search the array for all the arrays that have the key problem_id and the value 3 and then have it output the value of the key problem_update_date and the value of the key problem_update_text. Then keep searching to find the next occurrence? Thanks in advance, as above, I've been searching really hard for the answer and believe i'm over my head! Output of print_r($updates); CI_DB_mysql_result Object ( [conn_id] => Resource id #30 [result_id] => Resource id #35 [result_array] => Array ( ) [result_object] => Array ( ) [current_row] => 0 [num_rows] => 5 [row_data] => ) Output of print_r($updates->result_array()); Array ( [0] => Array ( [problem_update_id] => 1 [problem_id] => 3 [problem_update_date] => 2010-10-01 [problem_update_text] => Some details about a paricular issue [problem_update_active] => 1 ) [1] => Array ( [problem_update_id] => 4 [problem_id] => 3 [problem_update_date] => 2010-10-01 [problem_update_text] => Another update about the problem with an ID of 3 [problem_update_active] => 1 ) [2] => Array ( [problem_update_id] => 5 [problem_id] => 4 [problem_update_date] => 2010-10-12 [problem_update_text] => An update about the problem with an ID of four [problem_update_active] => 1 ) [3] => Array ( [problem_update_id] => 6 [problem_id] => 4 [problem_update_date] => 2010-10-12 [problem_update_text] => An update about the problem with an ID of 6 [problem_update_active] => 1 ) [4] => Array ( [problem_update_id] => 7 [problem_id] => 3 [problem_update_date] => 2010-10-12 [problem_update_text] => Some new update about the problem with the ID of 3 [problem_update_active] => 1 ) ) Hi, I'm creating an upload section that limits users to upload the following file types: .zip .rar .doc .jpeg .gif When getting the type for .pdf files, it comes up as: application/force-download and for .rar files it comes up as: application/x-download If I do a check that says: if ($type=="application/force-download" || $type=="application/x-download") then will users only be able to upload .PDF and .RAR files? I'm assuming these two types will allow other formats as well. If this is the case, how can I check the extension of the file before the user is able to upload it. I was thinking of somehow capturing the last 3 letters of the filename, and then doing the check that way, except I'm not sure how to go about this. Any insight appreciated! Hello! Does anyone know an effective way to track inactive idlers in daily basis? So that it will count the amount of days no data has been posted to the table. E.g. User posts latest data and inserts timestamp 1282228120 which reads Thursday, August 19th 2010, 14:28:40 (GMT) The days for inactivity should output as 8 days because no data has been posted from 20th August to today - 28th August. Anyway I can achieve this? Any information is appreciated, thanks. Hey everyone.. Problem is that I tried this with both types of sites, those who are using SSL and those who are not and always, it says Yes, it is installed. 443 is used because https uses port 443 What is the cause ? php5.2, mysql server5.02: if record exists,append random digit to end of information in rows column then add to database If user mike already exists and another mike is trying to create a user id I would like to keep the old mike record like it is, then add a new mike record, but add a unique digit to the end of the name mike before the record gets added to the database as a new row. Thank you kindly! |
