PHP - Php Mysql Transaction Problem
Similar TutorialsI need some advice on how to implement, if possible, the following scenario: I would like start a MySQL transaction to process database changes through Ajax requests and commit the changes on request of the user. The web application needs to allow multiple users, but can be limited. If persistent connections must be used, any persistent connections must be terminated after a length of time, or on session time to avoid hogging the limited number of persistent users available. Is there any good way of doing this? And were should I begin my research. Much thanks! I had to put a pixel on the order confirmation page passing the Transaction ID and The Purchase Amount from the database. The Transactions are located in the transaction table but the code that was written is passing EVERY Transaction in the database every time something is purchased. The Columns for the transaction table are ID CREATED MODIFIED USERID CLASS TRANSACTION_TYPE_ID and AMOUNT I have 32 types of Transactions in my Transaction_Type Table, the only transaction_types that are sales generated by the affiliate network are transaction_type 2. Ok, so I am kind of just looking for some experience on this one. I am building a billing / referral system that works on a hierarchy. Now the hierarchy is simple and straight forward. However, I am trying to figure out the easiest / least error prone way of handling the payments. I have an IPN with paypal set up and working successfully. Here is how the system works: User signs up and refers several users. Each user pays $8 a month (paypal subscription). The system pays $1 7 levels deep. So The payment scheme would look like this: User 8 pays $1 to User 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and user 1. Then, the site keeps the remaining $1. I have the Paypal IPN saving the $8 payment transaction to the database. Now I need to divy it up, but I am split on when the best time to do this would be and how. There is a possibility that the user could pay a different amount less than or more than the $8 and they also pay a setup fee which should not be divided. It should only divide the shares when the current account is paid in full. Another thing to keep in mind, is that the $8 subscription, 7 levels deep, and the setup fee are variable numbers. (The admin may change it at any time.) I see multiple solutions, but not sure which would be best as all have possibility for errors in handling. Any advice would be helpful. Ultimately, I’m trying to integrate the buy_video.php file’s ‘$earned_amount’ into a web script’s existing transaction file. Here are a couple of lines from that transaction file:

I have an application that makes use of a transaction, inserting and updating values in different tables. One of the first tables it inserts into has an auto increment ID field. This ID values is used / updated in some other tables. Everything works fine. If however the transaction fails then the auto_increment values are upset - meaning that the sequence is jumped.
For ex. if I had auto_increment values from 1 to 6 in this table and then the insert query fails for an auto_increment value of ID=7, then this value of ID = 7 is lost because the next time the query is run the auto_increment ID value will be equal to 8 and accordingly updated in the tables. ID value = 7 is lost. Is there any way to prevent this ? Please know that this is a multi - user application.

Hello. I can use some help in figure out how to implement a "transaction". I am building an e-commerce site where people buy subscriptions to online content. When a person subscribes for the first time, the following things need to happen... 1.) Create a Member record 2.) Create a TOS record 3.) Create an Order record 4.) Create an Order Details record 5.) Submit payment details to Card Processor 6.) Receive the response from the Card Processor (Hopefully a "Pass") 7.) Display an "Order Confirmation" page. 8.) Send out an "Order Confirmation" e-mail to serve as a 2nd receipt. 9.) Send out an "Account Activation" e-mail My original plan was to wrap all of those 9 steps into a "transaction", so that if any of those steps failed, then the user would get a message during checkout like, "Sorry, your checkout could not be completed. Please contact Customer Service." However, I am also wondering if maybe that is too rigid? What I don't want is a scenario where all of the records are created, but let's say the payment fails because the user is over his/her credit limit, and then I have an issue where a new "Member" has been created, but in essence I have an "orphan" because they cannot go back and try to re-register with another credit card because they are now an existing Member. Even something as seemingly innocuous, like the "Account Activation" e-mail not being sent, would create havoc. At the same time, I don't want things so rigid that it backfires. Any thoughts on this?
So i started on a project and not within long, i hit a wicked wall. I'm not sure if this post belongs here or in the MySQL forum because I'm not entirely sure where the problem is. I have a script that takes data from a form and puts it into a database. There are several tables that were hand built and the script works fine with those. There are several tables that were converted from M$ Access to MySQL and the script does not work with those. All tables are InnoDB (if that matters). My inkling is that the converted tables that have weird field names, some containing "%","#", and "-" characters, are interfering with the MySQL statement to do the insert. Any thoughts on this? Would those odd characters for field names in fact affect the MySQL statement to enter data? P.S. I don't have access to the code at the moment. Can post it later unless the solution to this problem is simple (i.e. weird characters are the problem). Thanks in advance! Everything went great untill I tackled something I never did before. PHP! From the home page I'm having the user enter a username and password. I created the db using phpmyadmin and populated the table with two users. I checked the include and it is attempting to open the db and proper table. however, the php loginck.php, goes to the programed error message.
