PHP - Web Page Migration Script Help

I have 2 scripts that take a while to process... The first takes a few minutes, the second takes over an hour... The first script completed successfully, but the second script seems like it just stops most of the way through the script...

I have this set on both files:

ini_set('memory_limit', -1);

I NEED to disable ALL time limits and all of that, does ANYONE have any clue as to why my second script is failing? It is NOT the programming, I know that for sure... But the script just stops executing, and I think it is because it times out... But after setting those 2 options, I don't see why it times out..

Also for reference, I am NOT using any database... I am simply downloading files from an FTP server to my server...

Any help would be appreciated, I have been searching for the last few days on an answer.

I have a page that shows entries in a guestbook I'm making, and below the entries there is supposed to be a form to write an entry. Except, none of the HTML after the script to show the entries shows up on the page. I have no clue what's wrong.

I want to let users select and upload a file.

The select form and upload sritp work when they are on different pages, but I want them on the same page with the upload script executing only if the form has been submitted.

Hi there, Im working on my little project and I would appreciate your help. I have only basic knowledge of php, mostly I just copy some scripts that could be useful for me. Im trying to find some simple script that allows me to see the written text on web page no. 1 on webpage no. 2.. Something like send the form to email, except I dont want to send it on email, but different webpage. Something like different way of eshop, where you get your order shipped to email, but I wanna send this information to webpage. Is there such a script like Im describing? Probably is but I dont know how to search for this..   Thank You

Hi, I am very new to PHP (and web developing generally, as well). I have been passing through two different ways of verifying user input in a PHP webpage:

1- By calling a different script file, where the verification logic code is listed and then recall the referer $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] page and pass the result using $_SESSION. (I understood this is basically done to avoid repeating the action in the code with every refreshment of the browser window).

2- By enclosing the verification logic code withing the same PHP page, so the page is a big mix of HTML & PHP. (I understood this is basically done, in order to keep the user input without using $_SESSION and it should save one trip of data transfer.)
   
    For me, I see both are working; still I want to learn the best coding practices. So your advice is appreciated, and please feel free to correct my, if I missed something about both methods.

What is funky is the page seems to work, it says it writes a record but the record never appears in the database.
I did verify MIME types were correct for HTML to be allowed to write as php if needed, any idea why it wouldn't create a record?

So I'm getting this error message: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '", )' at line 8. I can't see where the '", )' code is in that script. I've looked and contrl + find it but no joy. I've looked through the previous pages and mysql database to ensure the variables and the tables match up. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe some good mysql debug advice. Is there a good debug open source program out there? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I have a download script. The script is called like:

The download file code is below. My site hosts quite a few files that get linked on other websites. Problem is, when that link is clicked, obviously it just starts the file download, as if it were a direct link to the file.

What I need to do, is still have it download the file when the link is clicked, but I would also like it to redirect the browser to my homepage as well.

I tried placing this after the download headers but it didn't work.

Can anyone give me an idea how I can get the code to do that? Keep in mind that I'm not fluent in PHP.

Hi guy's,

I'm having problems adjusting a script to add a level (user rights) function. When i login with a admin or normal user it gives a blank page (not redirecting to home.php). It even does'nt return an echo that user / pass is incorrect. I'm breaking my head over this for day's now. Can you help me out?

Hi,   In reference to my first attached image, I have a form which displays two SELECT/drop-down fields (labeled "Store Name" and "Item Description".....and both of which pull-in values from two separate lookup/master tables, in addition to providing an additional option each for "NEW STORE" and "NEW ITEM").   Now, when first-run, and/or if "NEW STORE" and "NEW ITEM" are not selected from the drop-down's then the two fields in green ("New Store Name" and "New Item Name" are hidden, by means of the following code:

  All  of that is working just fine. The problem I'm having is that when I click the "Create" button, after having left any one of the form fields blank, the two "New Name" fields are hidden again, which I don't want to happen i.e. I want them to remain visible (since the values of "store_id" and/or "item_id" are "OTH"), so that the user can enter values into one or both of them, without havng to click on the drop-down a second time in order to execute the "on-click" code.   The second attached image shows how the fields are hidden, after clicking "Create".   How can I achieve that? Quesion: Show each movie in the database on its own page, and give the user links in a "page 1, Page 2, Page 3" - type navigation system. Hint: Use LIMIT to control which movie is on which page.
